Excellent! Some of the items recommended by the inspector we were able to wait on until the units (ex. water heater) were replaced. John explained everything in detail so that we could decide what work was needed. He could have told us to fix everything but he was very honest in suggesting we could wait.

We had purchased a big deal for the services. I have used them before. The plumber was very knowledgeable and explained the process and what was involved, and I appreciated that. I would recommend him.

I called this company to get an estimate for a basement remodel. When they called to set up an appointment he first wanted to give me a 4 hour window. But don't most people work? Then he told me that there was an $89 troubleshooting fee or whatever he called it. I didn't have a problem all I was looking for was an estimate. Who charges to get an estimate when you don't have a problem. I understand if my toilet backs up and I need help. I wanted work done on a remodel. I'd never trust a company that charges for estimates. I'm in sales and we spend thousands of $$$$ to meet with customers and discuss using our products. I don't charge them for me to come in to their place of business.

They came here and found additional things I needed fixed and fixed them for me. I was very pleased . I would give them an A+.

A leaky faucet ends up costing me $842.92 for 1 hour worth of work and twenty minutes at work discussing my costs options. I was shocked and felt high jacked. I called John Baethke & Son Plumbing Inc because they were very close. When I called I explained that my hot water faucet was leaking and that my drain was slow. Since they were coming out I wanted them to look at the drain when they repaired the faucet. I also noted that the cold water faucet was okay but since both were old that it may be a good idea to look at the cold water because it may need fixing too. I asked how much it would cost and they told me that the initial home visit would be $89 then they would charge me for services rendered and that they didn't do a per hour charge. Hence, I agreed to have them come out to do the repair, thinking that the cost would be an additional charge in the area of $300 for the services. I was at work when the technician called and said I had an option as to how much it would cost me to fix my faucet and drain. Since he thought I had a Chicago Faucet - which bothered me because even I who's not a plumber know very well what a Chicago faucet is and if you have one you know. He obviously, knew it was a Chicago Faucet. For those not familiar - they take a cartridge and not washers. Cartridges run around $16-30 retail. I could get the service agreement for $179 and be entitled to a discount on the home visit and discount on services or opt out and pay full price with service agreement $179.00 faucets $332.83 slow drain $282.09 home visit $49.00 total $842.92 if I don't do the service agreement it would cost the following: faucets $398.80 slow drain $338.51 home visit $89.00 total $826.31 As you can see with service agreement or not it was going to be over $800. I was so shocked, in addition to being at work trying to make a decision on the fly. I had already made arrangements to have this done and was concerned about not getting it done that day and having to then take a day off work to have someone else come on a different day. Hence, I felt I had no choice but to go ahead with the services. Since then everyone I've talked to has told me it would have been better to just say pay the $89 and had someone else come out for a lot less. I have no problem with the services performed just the extremely high price for one hour worth of work.

Brad was terrific; clean, helpful and very polite. I had to pay overtime charge due to a conflict with my employer so it cost me more than I would have liked to pay but that's not the contractor's fault. I would use Baethke again because they're in my neighborhood, professional, capable and courteous.

Tom did a fine job with the repair. However, the company's business practices are sketchy. We selected this plumber from angies list, and over the phone they waved the service charge. Upon arrival, the plumber tried to sell a $179 plumbing package that gives the customer access to "preferred" pricing. When we declined, we were told that it would cost $285 to tighten the faucet! We asked him to leave. Finally the price was negotiated down to 95.00 for what amounted to a 15 minute repair. Again, good repair....but a lot of work to get a fair price.

We had about half an inch of water in our basement and the water heater pilot light was out. The concern was whether the water had caused damage or not. Repairman came right on schedule and looked at the heater. He said there was a little water in it and that Baethke recommended a replacing the heater. He gave an $800.00 estimate for an average water heater. I felt that was very high and told him we wouldn't do it without a second opinion and then buy our own water heater if the diagnosis was the same. At that point, he said he might be able to fix it by draining the small puddle at the bottom on the tank, drying it out and starting the pilot. Needless to say, it has been working fine ever since. He did the right thing in the end, but I felt that I was being pressured to buy a water heater. Thankfully, I didn't fall for it
