+ -1 moreThis is my second comment/review on my purchase from Jerger and my experiences with this company keeps getting better. The windows in my living room are super large in both height and width (We need a 10-foot ladder to change out or charge a battery), 6 windows in all, motorized that blocks out all sun where the room is pitch black when closed (We have a very large caged parrot that lives in the room and if he doesn’t get his sleep he makes our life’s miserable). The expert salesperson could not have been more professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable. The installation of the blinds went quickly, the window covering was better than what I expected. A year and a half later one of the wand batteries went bad. I took the bad battery out of one of the blinds and put it into another just to be sure it was the battery that was defective not the motor. I called Jerger and explained the situation and what I had done to test the battery. Without hesitation he told me that he was ordering a new battery for me and a spare, no ands, ifs or buts it was done. No hassle, no delay, he confirmed that he would replace it immediately. He ordered the batteries and had them sent to my home. If We could give this company 10 stars we would. We would recommend them to everyone for their excellent product, great customer service, great after delivery customer service and follow through.

We had received three prior quotes that were more expensive and lower quality from some of the budget blind companies. We were able to get beautiful Hunter Douglas blinds with a lifetime guarantee for a lower price and better service. Can't beat that!

+ -1 moreJerger was very responsive and professional. Chuck Jerger came out a couple of days after we called and did all the measuring. We wanted wooden blinds by Hunter Douglas and had an unusual situation because they had to be cut at the bottom to fit around a heat/air conditioning unit in the master bedroom, while making the blinds lie flush on the window sill. Chuck did all the measuring, including the area to be cut out. Within a couple of days, Michael Jerger called to schedule the installation. In the meantime we had noticed that the living room blinds had come loose from the attachment point. These are vertical blinds and were not installed by Jerger. I asked if the installers could fix the attachment while they were out and he agreed. Two installers came out and were very efficient and polite. They installed the new blinds, which fit well, with the cutout area. They also adjusted the living room blinds at no additional charge. The whole installation and repair took less than one hour. The installers also hauled away the old blinds. We had called two companies for quotes. Jerger was somewhat less than the other company, but also seemed more experienced and professional, so we went with them. I'm glad we chose Jerger because they were reasonably priced and the service was excellent. Everyone we dealt with from Jerger was very professional. I'd recommend them without hesitation.

+ -1 moreWe had Mike create custom shades and curtains in our kitchen/family room, master bedroom, kids bedroom, guest room and home office. They also created custom velvet curtains with sheers for our living/dining room, sheers for our family room. Like I said, it was a big job! Overall we are delighted with the finished products, especially our master bedroom. The turnaround took a bit longer than expected, probably 3-4 months total from start to finish. The velvet curtains in our living room and the cotton curtains in my son's room don't quite hang right but I know if I called them to come back out and fix it, they would be right here, so I'm not worried about it. Disclaimer: the curtains all sit along vents so they are constantly being blown out when the heat or air is on. If you have your own fabric choices, as I did for 2 rooms, Mike is happy to use whatever you want him to use. You aren't just confined to what they have to offer, which is still a pretty big selection. We receive compliments all the time and people often ask who did we use. All in all, forget the big box stores. Infuse some cash in your local neighborhood and call Jerger for your window coverings.
Description of Work: We bought a new home and needed window coverings throughout. It was a pretty big job. While Jerger was not the cheapest nor were they the most expensive of the quotes we received, I enjoyed working with Michael Jerger and his team of installers, Glenn and Jeremy.

+ -1 moreAfter taking some time to make my decision, I decided to go with Jerger Window Fashions. He had been out to my home a couple of time during the estimate process. When I spoke with them and told them I was ready to place an order after narrowing it down he started saying that he had been out to many times and would lose money on me! He then brought up the name of a company that I had used at a previous apartment and it was very clear they were gossiping about me! This is incredibly unprofessional. He made it very clear that he didn’t want my business because he wouldn’t make any money off of me after all the visits he had made to my home. I can’t believe he was so blunt and I don’t appreciate him gossiping about me.

They went to a shade manufacturer they didn't use that much, because I like that manufacture's shades better, and they didn't try to persuade me to go with a manufacturer that would have been easier for them. I have another job coming up and will use them again in a few weeks.

+ -1 moreChuck, from Jerger, came out to show me the mini blind colors, to measure and to send an estimate via email. I accepted the proposal and ordered the blinds. Chuck said it would take 3 weeks to get them to the shop. Three weeks later Chuck called and said they were in and to set up a time to install them. Two men came out and I thought they were very nice and I felt comfortable with them. They removed their shoes which I always appreciate. They worked quietly, skillfully, carefully (I'm always worried something will get damaged when work people come in). There was one problem with one of the blinds and the 2 men skillfully and pleasantly fixed the problem right away. They cleaned up after themselves and left no mess. I was surprised that they didn't remove the old blinds with them. I had them place the old blinds in my alley and a few days later the scrape people took them. I love the colors I picked for all of the blinds and they look wonderful. I am very pleased with how they turned out!
Description of Work: Measured for new blinds, removed the old blinds from the windows and installed new ones. I had 8 window blinds redone.

+ 0 moreThis is a family owned and operated company and the care and concern for the customer comes through from start to finish. The gentlemen that came took great care in measuring the drapery panels, the various parts of the wall/window area where they were to be hung, and worked with me on the length I wanted the panels to be. They were on time with the pick up, very careful on taking the roller shades down, and not disturbing anything. Mike Jerger contacted me several times with an estimate, timing of process and answered my questions. He called me upon his receipt of the drapes to discuss some of the potential issues (none of which occurred) so I knew in advance if there would be problems. That is marvelous. The shades and drapery panels were returned in perfect condition. Everything looks brand new. They took time to make sure the roller shades worked, that the panels were perfectly re-installed and asked if I wanted them to move the furniture back to the window. They were polite and professional. They really know their business. My drapes are custom made and I was very concerned that they be properly cleaned. I dreaded trying to find a cleaner; but Jerger did an excellent job. I plan on using them for the drapery in my other rooms. The costs break down as follows: rollershades @ $33 each and the drapery panel shortening and cleaning $220. I would highly recommend this company - I love the service and the results! Great with my dogs too!

+ -1 moreI contracted this company to install Hunter Douglas window treatments 5 years ago. At that time, I choose to move forward with them because I wanted quality and service, so I passed up competing bids. I followed through on the instructions that they provided when opening and closing blinds. This week one of the blinds came out of the window frame. The same thing happened on a different window when they installed the blinds. They addressed it immediately by reinforcing it. There was also a problem with one of the blinds not fitting properly which was sent back to the factory to be recut. The explanation was that my window is uneven and the factory cut it wrong, not the measuring. From my perspective, the blind came down recently because it also needed to be secured better. Things happen. The company did return my call the next morning. However, the tone was crystal clear - I was completely at fault for this happening especailly after 5 years of use. When I initially hired them, one of my biggest concerns was their professionalism but if they can back it up, then no worries. At the end of the day, there is a problem that needs to be addressed. Successful companies seize these opportunities to remedy the issue and create more business. For example, 4 years ago I hired a different company to install blinds in my rental, less money and better results (with no issues). Enough said. UPDATE - looking to purchase more blinds and was reminded not to use this company. Their response below doesn't address how rude they were nor the fact that they installed the bedroom blind incorrectly by not securing it to a stud as confirmed by the contractor who fixed the issue.

+ -1 moreWe met with Michael Charnota in person to review the measurements, fabric sample, etc. We then had the fabric shipped directly to Jerger where we picked up the completed drapes a few weeks later. Michael was very responsive and the dxrapes turned out great. We were having a hard time finding a company that would handle the sewing only. I was very grateful that Jerger would handle this for us.
Description of Work: We used Jerger to sew custom drapes for our home. We supplied the fabric, measurements and completed the install ourselves to save on cost. Jerger did a phenomenal job and the drapes look fantastic.

I called yesterday (4/16) to see if they could help me with my problem - I had curtains installed (NOT by Jerger) and they were awful! Even though this was NOT Jerger's problem, they were so nice and so responsive to my inquiry. They sent a crew out the very next day (4/17). The men who came were extremely polite (even cute with my 2 little kids) and very professional. They fixed my curtains and even confirmed to me what I thought all along: my curtains were no good. I WISH I had gone to Jerger first! I am going to try to get my money back from the other place and will absolutely have Jerger Window Fashions come back and do custom window treatments for the rest of my house. Great experience. Very knowledgeable. Real pros! Thank you so much!!

+ -1 moreI had requested estimates from two companies. Michael Charmota came out from Jerger and went through the house measuring an making recommendations. I had wanted 2" slats, for instance, but he pointed out that the inside depth of my windows from the glass to the outside edge is only about an inch...if I got the 2" we would have to do an outside mount so they wouldn't stick way out into the room. Since my rooms are pretty small, I wanted the inside mount. I was impressed that he didn't try to sell me anything and, in fact, pointed out the price differences in different types of window treatments so I could make an educated decision. He sent me an estimate. I really appreciated his professional advice and attitude and decided to go ahead with Jerger. When the blinds arrived, they called and we arranged an installation date. Guys arrived promptly on-time. The front storm door slams shut hard and they were very careful not to let it. They removed existing hardware (including some painted-on 50 year old brackets). They installed the blinds very professionally and quickly (about 40 minutes from start to finish). They demonstrated how the blinds work including the child safety pieces. They cleaned up after themselves and were very friendly. I had a couple of questions at different times (while waiting for the blinds to arrive and at the time of final billing) and Michael was able to answer and take care of everything. Blinds a little more pricey that if I'd ordered from a big box store and hired someone to install but, I wouldn't even have thought about some of the things Michael pointed out and, without that advice, would have ordered something I wouldn't have been happy with in the end...and yes, I've done that sort of thing before and had to take the hit in the wallet and start over. It was an excellent experience. Definitely recommend.

+ -1 moreWe initially invited three vendors to provide us with quotes to replace all of the blinds in our home. Jerger was our favorite of the three. Their pricing was very competitive and we liked that they were located nearby in our neighborhood. Of the three vendors that we initially contacted, Jerger Window Fashions made recommendations that were the most in keeping with our initial goals of light filtering, privacy,and reducing heat loss in some rooms. They were also very responsive, helped us to take advantage of product rebates, and were very helpful with answering all of our questions. Installation was very fast (less than a few hours for 27 windows). We loved the end result so much that we are now working with them on another project.
Description of Work: Replace 27 window binds. This included product recommendations, removal of the existing wood blinds, and installation of the new product.

+ -1 moreWe contacted Jerger Window Fashions on 11/08/11 as we had purchased roller window shades for our porch from them in 2008 and were very pleased with their service. Mike Jerger came to our home a few days later, brought samples, and measured ten windows for new Hunter Douglas blinds for our Living room, dining room, and bedrooms. Mike is very professional and pleasant to deal with. Our new blinds were delivered by Glen and Jeremy on 11/30/11 and installed by them. They were very efficient, and neat and did an excellent job. And they were very pleasant to deal with. They even helped us move back some furniture we had moved for the installation. We highly recommend Jerger Window Fashions, a family business, for the products they sell, and excellent work they do. And they are all very pleasant to deal with.
Description of Work: We purchased new blinds for ten windows on 11/08/11 and they were delivered and installed on 11/30/11.

Description of Work: Based on the excellent reports here on Angie's List, we contacted Jerger and set up an appointment to get an estimate for 10 windows on the first floor of our house. The salesman was punctual, but arrived with only one book of samples, and explained that his sample books 'could fill up his car' if he brought more. So we only got to see one type of shade, apparently the most expensive type they carry and install. He was pleasant enough, taking measurements etc. We picked a shade type for 7 of the windows but three of them needed a different type of treatment. Since he had no other sample books, he recommended a type of woven shade he said would work, and promised to show them to us after the price estimate was completed. He told us he'd call to give the estimate and return with samples of the woven shade for approval. The next day he emailed an estimate which was twice the amount we were looking to spend, and didnt offer to return to show samples of the woven shade, or even attach a catalog page or pictures etc to give us some idea of their style, features etc.. When we responded that this was more than we wanted to spend, he replied curtly that we could have 'roller' shades if we wanted a cheaper product. Our complaint is that he should have brought in sample books of several shade styles and/or brands and price levels at least, and explained the price/quality differences so we could make a better informed choice, and he should have gotten an idea of what our budget was and what our best options were for that budget. He seemed determined to offer us extremely limited choices, we assume at the most expensive level, perhaps to drive a better sales commission?. When we countered with our response about the estimate being too high, he seemed dismissive, and in our opinion, condescending about it, although it's hard to infer attitude from email, so perhaps he's just a terrible communicator. We will be seeking our window treatments elsewhere, and frankly, I am surprised Jerger gets all "A's" on Angie's List if this is how they treat potential new customers.

In addition to the fast service, I received Michael's expertise which for some reason upon just meeting him, I truly trusted his advice. The work is complete and I am so happy. My daughter who lives upstairs is in need of window treatment and I intend on recommending Jergers. When I mentioned this to Michael, he said to wait and let the work speak for itself. Well it certainly does.
Description of Work: I initially contacted 2 companies to get quote for blinds. After Michael Jerger visited, I knew that this was the company I would go with. He was pleasant, honest and extremely helpful to me. We ordered a Roman shade for one room and this order was gonna take longer than the blinds. They weren't. They delivered all the blinds I ordered. Michael helped me with a bathroom window that I wanted covered. He came up with an idea which worked out perfectly. He took measurements and checked his warehouse for remnants that would match. I just can't believe how great it looks. I absolutely love it. Again Michael made suggestions as to what color blinds would work in our kitchen. Of course he was right. I would definitely recommend them.

+ -1 moreI hired Jerger to install the window treatments in my new home and couldn't be happier. It's a large single family home with LOTS of windows, so the price is quite reasonable. Marvin, who does the estimates and design component, has always been incredibly responsive and is just a fun guy to be around. Chuck, who does the install, is really nice, easy to talk to, and does a fantastic job. He had to install a 22-foot drape in my living room and managed to do it without scaffolding or a single complaint. They weren't the lowest bid (nor were they the highest), but I have no doubt that no one could have done a better job. I will definitely hire them again for the few remaining windows in my home.

+ -1 moreWe received several bids on the project, and while Jerger was not the lowest bid, we ultimately decided to go with them because we really liked Marvin, and we loved that Jerger is a family owned business. We got a really positive vibe from them and it helped that they were super responsive (the most responsive of all the companies that we contacted) with any questions that we had prior to hiring them for the job. Chuck did the installation and he did an amazing job! We could not be happier with the product and the end result. Jerger is a very professional business to work with - a few of our shipments were late coming in due to snow storms and the owner called us immediately to let us know . . . and he felt bad about it even though we completely understood that it was not his fault. We would highly recommend Jerger Draperies to anyone looking for elegant, professional and beautiful window treatments. The family is great to work with!
