We were very pleased with the work and price. When Jack came out, he only spent about 20 minutes looking at the different jobs and didn't ask hardly any questions. I didn't think I would actually get a quote. He responded within a week with the quote and it was reasonable compared to the other two quotes I received. He told me it would take 7-10 days to get the no-maintenance decking and they started within 14 days of signing the contract. They finished the three smaller jobs within 2-3 days. Very fast work. The front deck took longer due to them needing to order more decking. When I got the quote, I showed Jack and the other contractors what I wanted for railings. The others quoted much lower on the railings but said if I wanted more ornate railings the price would go up. Jack quoted based on what I wanted (ornate railings!! I showed everyone the same sample) and the price didn't change. He brought in a sub-contractor for the wrought iron railings who designed something custom and they are beautiful. I couldn't be more please with how the porch and railings look. The railings took 4 weeks longer to be put in but I wasn't surprised by the delay given that some of my neighbors waited months to get their wrought iron railings in. I would definitely use them again.

They were good all the way around. They were prompt and knowledgeable about what they were doing. This company was timely, clean and professional.

Stanley was a very nice guy but he gave me a quote under another company's name. I said I wanted a change on the quote and called Mike at J. Sitko Construction. But I never heard back from him. No one from J. Sitko Construction ever called me back. It was wierd and confusing. I would not use them in the future.

Job from start to finish was great. They started when they said they would and finshed on time. The job site was cleaned after every day and communication with them was great. Highly recommended..

Mike and Jack's crew really do excellent work. There were some minor "glitches" as to be expected in a job this size. Jack did not always pass along my requests to his crew, but any issues that resulted from miscommunications were quickly corrected. The deck itself was completed in April, but we had to wait until last week to complete the staining, due to the amount of rain we had in May. I highly recommend J. Sitko Construction. I interviewed at least 4 other construction companies and Mike and Jack were the most reasonably priced and also willing to work with me on how I wanted the deck designed.

I interviewed 5 deck people. Jack and Mike seemed the most honest and reliable. I made a good choice: Mydeck is GORGEOUS!!! Mystaircase handrails are GORGEOUS!!! Would I hire J. Sitko again? In a heartbeat! Hire them and you will be completely satisfied.

Their service was good. They kept me in the loop. There are a lot of building codes because I am in the city and they were very prompt with taking care of things with the city. I would use them again.

J Sitkco did an excellent job with the replacement of my old deck. The prior deck was not built to code and had many structural issues. J Sitko added the necessary footings and other improvement necessary not only to have a functional deck but one that would avoid any future issues.They were very prompt and professional and cleaned up all materials. No issues.

About half way thru the job they ran short of siding. I wish they would have explain to me what happened, instead of us having to call them. When they started the job again, they just showed up and we had to move all our cars around so we could go to work and they could start siding. The quality of work was great which far out weighted the small communication glitch.

Sitko construction are absolute professionals. From the day I called to the day of completion was one week and a half. The work took one day to complete and the quality is top notch for a very reasonable price. I am having them back in the spring to do more work. I am very happy and would definitely recommend.

J. Sitko removed our (scary, old, dilapidated) back porch, had an architect design a new porch, and built the replacement. A class act all the way, J. Sitko was quick to give us an estimate, and stayed in touch, all through the design process, quickly adapting to a couple of changes we made along the way (cedar, not pine; a canopy to be installed over the back door). The workmen were excellent and efficient. They arrived on time each day, and put in a full day's worth of labor, in crafting our new back porch. The job site was kept very clean. The entire process went very, very well, and I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who needs porch or deck construction/replacement.

The front porch to my home was experiencing some deterioration issues due to the enclosed design of the base which retained humidity in spite of having several ventilation plugs along the sides. Once I had contacted J Sitko Construction things moved along quite quickly . . . . . much more so than I expected during peak building season. I was very happy with the speed of their response and the small lag-time until they were able to begin work. I knew that I wanted the lower portion of the new porch to be open with a lattice work covering, to allow air circulation under the porch, but otherwise I was unsure of appropriate porch materials and railing designs. However, they were of great help in explaining a few options and suggestions as far as materials. I didn't have a specific railing design in mind, so I told them about a couple of interesting designs that I had seen, and explained that I didn't personally like a lot of scrollwork in railing designs. I asked them to go ahead and choose a design with that in mind. I am very happy with the design they installed. If I was given a catalog of railing designs, I'm certain that this would have been one of my top choices. Based on my dealings with them so far, I would definitely be happy to recommend them. Their website lists several other construction services too. Based on the quality of their porch work, and their responsiveness, I have now asked them to replace a few windows too.

J.Sitko was very responsive when I asked for a bid. They came right out, with the GSJ architect, and listened carefully to what I wanted and quickly gave me a reasonable price reflecting that. We had some issues with the permitting (not their fault), but they came right out when the permit was finally approved. The guys worked quickly and got the job done amazingly fast. There were some minor issues that arose that we had not anticipated, and Jack (owner) took care of them immediately with no extra charge. Mike, the office manager, is very responsive and helpful with questions. Jack seems a very busy man and is hard to track down and schedule with, but Mike steps in and takes care of it. Overall very happy with the job and J.Sitko.

My concrete porch looked awful. It was removed, rebuilt with brick side walls and an apron to the sidewalk with pavers. The guys showed up every day without fail, work looks fantastic. Couldn't ask for more!

Work well done. I appreciate that they were trying to accommodate our schedule. Will do business again.

I had J Sitko come out a year ago to discuss possible addition to my roof deck. I elected to delay any work on the deck until this year/ In order to bring deck up to code I was told by Jack Sitko that the deck needed a railing. I was skeptical but eventually agreed to do it and I am now pleased that it was installed. I also had them stain my existing deck and repair any loose boards etc. They did a fine job. I don't think anyone is ever totally pleased with what they pay a contractor but I think I got a good value for the money and, after some initial scheduling headaches, the work was completed in a timely, professional manner. I would use them again.

The work that was performed is simply spectacular. The quality of workmanship is superb and we could not be happier with the results. This company was extremely professional to work with from start to finish. Mike was wonderful in scheduling the work and the timeline was reasonable and strictly followed. I have used this company for the past 10 years for various projects from porch replacement to a complete 2nd story addition to a single family home and I have always been impressed by the quality of work and the reasonable prices. They are very easy to deal with and follow up with once the job is completed. I definitely rate them an A+ and would recommend J Sitko Construction to anyone.

Our experience with J. Sitko Construction was excellent. If you are facing a similar deck violation situation, I don't know why you'd work with anyone else. We were initially impressed with their similar work in our neighborhood, and their knowledge of the City permit and violation remediation process. Sitko partnered with GSJ Design in their proposal. We were leery of choosing a construction firm without the opportunity to bid out the building plans. We decided to hire GSJ for the architectural and permitting work, but held off on the construction firm decision. When the plans came back, we bid them to a number of construction firms, but Sitko was by far the most economical and responsive. We also valued their close working relationship with GSJ, thinking it would limit finger pointing if the work failed to pass the city inspections. Michael clearly wanted our business and was persistent, but not annoying, in his communication. Work began soon after contract signing. It was estimated to take 2 weeks, but it took 3, maybe 3.5, mostly due to weather. The crew was punctual and worked every day the weather cooperated - even on Saturday. The site was totally cleaned when they finished. Michael scheduled all of the follow up inspections with the City ? again, a process he was clearly familiar with. One of his colleagues met me for the final inspection. The inspector was clearly impressed with the work ? he said as much. He asked me what we paid and told me we had gotten a great deal. The inspector and the Sitko representative had met on other jobs, and we clearly benefitted from this familiarity and respect for Sitko?s work and reputation. Overall, what could have been a nightmare situation was straightforward and efficiently handled. The decks look great, and while I was skeptical that anything was wrong with them to begin with, they certainly look more substantial and secure.

Jack came out to inspect my garage and sent me an estimate. The estimate failed to reflect all of the particulars that Jack & I had discussed. The estimate also was based on using Isaac Product (plastic PVC) to replace the fascia on my wood garage. When I inquired about the durability of the product -- because squirrels have eaten through the fascia I have -- Jack told me to research it myself. When I did, I discovered that this product has a reputation for being terrible for the environment. I therefore called Jack and asked him to do an estimate that would be predicated on using appropriate wood fascia. He agreed to do so and said that the price would be lower than the original estimate. I never received a new estimate. For reasons unknown to me, Michael Fredman -- the person in the office -- had become hostile to me (or so it seemed to me). He didn't return emails, so I had to call. When got in touch with him after my last conversation with Jack, he told me (in essence) to "go fly a kite." He said they were too busy and I should find someone else. I found Fredman's conduct, in particular, to be inexplicable and unprofessional.

Quote was fast and professional. Work proceeded in a timely manner. , Main issue is they the top layer is coming of the cement on the patio. It seems this may have been caused by use of salt to melt ice. Once contacted they came out a quickly adressed the issue. VERY FRIENDLY AND GOOD TO WORK WITH. THEY WILL MAKE SURE YOU ARE SATIDFIED. Highly recommended!

Great experience from start to finish. Sitko's came in as the middle estimate, but Jacek's explanations of how and why they needed to do the new deck sold us on them. We scheduled a date for them to start, but because of circumstances, we asked if we could push it up a week and they accommodated us without any problems. The old deck came down in a day, and the new deck was completed 3.5 days later, complete with total cleanup. Sitko used no pressure when it came to paying. Completely a great experience. Please note the cost does not include the extra $1925 cost of Chicago DOB permitting and design by GSJ Design.

Sitko removed an old dilapidated porch off the roof of our garage and replaced it with a new one. Working with them has been a great experience. We met in person perhaps three times (estimate, construction, post construction) and each time they were on time to the minute. Both Mike and Jack have been very responsive and answered all of my questions. Their pricing was more than fair (I got a couple of estimates that were higher by at least $1,000), and the quality of the construction is great. Our new deck is SOLID, and feels like it will last a long time.

The Chicago Dept of Buildings wrote a violation against our deck for being against code. Several things were not up to code, so we chose to replace the deck entirely rather than repair it. Sitko provided us with timely estimates and even offered a small discount before signing the final contract. Our building has had a frustrating history with the DOB, but Sitko was patient with us and was understanding of our situation. They performed the work on schedule and without requiring much interaction from our condo association. Our only complaint might be that closure of some of the extraneous work lingered at the end of the project.
