Jack was as good as the reports say! He came out was very thorough in his inspection and listened to my concerns etc... he took photos and then we went over the photos in detail so that I completely understood what needed to be done and also how he was going to approach my specific job... I insisted in inspecting the limestone that were going to be used before the stones would go up and he made an extra trip out the day before so that I could view the stones and approve them etc... His team cleaned up very nicely and even washed residue off my windows etc... Basically I chose Jack, the owner, because of the Angies list reports ... I did have other people out for estimates, but I liked Jack best and his approach to my specific problems... So He definitely gets another A+ on my rating:

Jack inspected the water damage around the exhaust fan and then went up on the roof. After inspecting the roof, Jack could not identify any leak in the roof. He advised us to wait for the next hard rain to determine if the roof was leaking or if the damage was caused by condensation due to an inadequately insulated pipe. Jack could not confirm the original estimate, which called for us to replace 80% of our roof. If we ultimately determine that our roof is leaking, I would not hesitate to call J L Contractor Services again.

The siding bid was competitive but the concrete steps could have been over priced. I didn't received other estimates from other concrete companies, but through word of mouth determined it may have been too high. The estimator was professional and on time, but we decided to hold off on the work.

Great. Jack from JL responded very promptly to my initial inquiry and was out within a couple of days for a detailed inspection. He followed that up shortly after with a proposal. Relative to other masons we had submit bids, he was faster, had better explanations for the work to be done, and was competitively priced. This was in the Fall of 2009. It then took me a bit of time to determine how to proceed, and by the time I was ready, Jack had some work already lined up, the weather was turning and we had to wait. When he had the opportunity in March, Jack called back and executed the work quickly. The only part of the experience that could have been a bit better was for Jack to give a little more lead time. After a couple of months of not talking, he called on a Tuesday and did the work on a Thursday. We could do that, but it would have been a little more convenient had he called a week in advance to schedule. His team showed up on time and worked hard through the day, completing all of the tasks before leaving, and cleaning up well. From what I can tell at this point, the work was well done. It certainly looks complete and all of the joints between the bricks and stones are apparently filled. The bricks they used to replace our eroded ones match very well and it is hard to tell which are the new ones. I suppose other tests of the quality will come as we see how it weathers, but at this point I am very pleased with the work.

Chimneys of myself and my neighbor were shedding bricks. We talked to about a dozen providers and got a wide range of estimates and opinions on what should be done. I even joined Angie's List for info on this, as I had little idea of where to look for help. JL was the low bidder, and though I was a little nervous about this, the Angie reviews and BBB rating were good so we went with them. The crew showed up within two weeks, as promised, completed a basic rebuild and cap within a few days, and cleaned up pretty well after themselves. It's been a few months now, with heavy rains, snow and cold, etc., and so far no problems. Hope that continues. Price shown above is for both chimneys.

Excellent-I would highly recommend Jack as he is a true professional. He went above and beyond by making a recommendation to how the work should be done with our other roof contractor. In order to do the job right, he insisted that the roof membrane go under the top stones to get the best seal (although the roof contract didn't originally want to bring the membrane under the cap stones). Jack didn't have to insist on doing the job the right way but we are so glad he did being the professional he is. He cared about doing the job right and roofer agreed that best seal would be to have the roof membrane under the capstones. Also, he came out on time, and also his people came out on time and were very reliable. The most important thing to me is obviously that work is done right, and that they come out, both of which was done. There were a few things to be corrected when work was being done by Jack's people, and like a true professional, he make sure those things were corrected right away without an issue. Whenever there's an issue, a customer just wants to hear "no problem" in a calm voice and that they'll fix it, which he did. He's good at what he does and clearly that's why he's gotten an A from the loads of reviews. We would hope to use him again for other work if needed. Go with Jack if you are trying to figure out who to use with all the masonry people out there as I got lots of bids and met lots of masonry people and he stood out from the rest. Jack's company was very busy and he didn't need the work, but luckily was able to do our work. Mind you, his people worked in the cold to get everything done as planned. We were so happy and couldn't say enough good things about Jack.

Overall, Jack was excellent to work with. He was very knowledgeable, and responsive. He arrived on time for the estimate, and while work was being done, he returned phone calls promptly. His estimate was not the lowest we received, but you get what you pay for, and his price was very reasonable and we felt that his work was very high quality. His estimate also didn't include "hidden costs" like some of the others we received appeared to. We had one minor issue (complaints from neighbors about debris/urination in their yard), but when we called Jack, he addressed it with his workers immediately and we never heard from our neighbors again. When we came home from work each day during the project, everything appeared clean, and clean up at the end of the job was excellent. Jack was also very helpful with city permits. I would definitely recommend Jack for roofing work.

It was a wonderful experience. An estimate was received within a couple of days of calling, the price of which seemed quite in line with other similiar jobs. What looked to be a simple tuckpointing job (which another, much higher price service had offered to do with simple acyrlic caulk on only the upper quarter) wasn't. JL explained options on the repair ranging from simple tuckpointing (with mortar) which might have to be repeated in a few years to replacing a section of the chimney and retucking the whole thing and repairing or replacing the cap stone (which was cracked and crumbling). We opted to have them relpace the capstone, rebuild the upper quarter of the chimney and tuckpoint the rest. Work had to be delayed becaue of the weather, which had become cool & rainy, however as soon as the weather cleared JL was out to do the work. Everything was done quickly and quite professionally. The workers were friendly and happy to explain the process involved in the different stages of work. After work was completed they had even called us back to check to see if we were happy with the outcome of the job. I would recommend them for anyone looking work this sort of job in the future.

He identified the problem correctly and explained things very well. His pricing was reasonable and the quality of his work was very good.

very well - services were provided as outlined in the estimate. The owner was not present at the initial start of the project and he was the one who gave the estimate. I had to provide some direction to the workers, some of who did not speak English. These services were provided to a friend of mine in Countryside.

After 10 contractor quotes and visits over the summer, we choose J.L. for their honesty and astuteness for what had to be done. I didn't feel I was being quoted for work that didn't need to be done. Jack analyzed the problems we had with leakage from the roof and gave us a fair diagnosis. Jack is a very busy man and it did take several weeks to get him out, but once he did he gave his crew instructions and stopped back to check on their work. All the work was completed in approximately five hours.

We were getting some seepage in our basement due to some holes in our bricks. Our timeline was tight as our basement was in the middle of being remodeled. We needed to get the work done quickly so our contractor could continue the job. We searched Angie's List for tuckpointers and were impressed by the reviews Jack received. We called Jack and left a message. He called back within the hour and offered to come out for an estimate the next day. He showed up as scheduled the very next day. I expressed our need to get the work done quickly. Jack said the job should only take one day and that given our need to get the job done quickly, he could start within two days. Typically, we would probably have to wait two weeks to start so this made us happy that he could start so quickly. Jack sent out four of his workers at 9AM on a Saturday and by 4PM the job was completed. The workers were professional and their quality was excellent. We were very happy.

Jack was punctual and responsive--gave me the best bid. He was very direct and helpful--I never had the feeling that he was trying to put anything over on me. Very pleasant to work with. I've had five tuckpointers in 10 years, and he is the only one whom I would ever hire again.

The entire experience was excellent. Jack, the owner, came out and did the estimate within 24 hours. It was very reasonable compared to the other bids that I received. He provided us with a detailed written proposal that stated all the work that was to be completed. He was quick to respond to my follow up questions and the work started at the time promised. The crew was respectful, hard working and cleaned up every night before they left. We are very pleased with the results and have received many complementary comments on the excellent quality of the work.

Jack gave us the best estimate in terms of knowledge and explaining what was going on. We had water coming in through brick on an enclosed porch. When he came to do the estimate he is the only contractor who explained why that was happening and how he would fix it. Other people just handed over an estimate with no explanation. Great customer service. No more water leaking.

Jack did a great job. Very fast and very service-oriented. He's very busy but he always calls you back. He gives you a fair price and sticks to it. He focused on addressing the larger problem rather than just the small repair. Would highly recommend Jack.

First, Jack gave us the best anf most comprehensive of 3 estimates. Jack called two days before work was to begin to tell us when workers would arrive. They came on time, worked from 9-5, also worked Saturday morning, cleaned up after themselves, and worked quickly. So far, everything has gone great.

Jack was very responsive whenever I called. He kept in touch as the work progressed and finished in the time frame as promissed. His crew were very professional. They were also very tidy and cleaned up thoroughly before they left.

Wonderful! The guys were in and out quickly. They cleaned up afterwards. It was great. They walked me to their finished job and made sure I took a good look and was satisfied before leaving. Communication between the owner, Jack was excellent. I will definitely call on them again for my future repairs.

I called on Wednesday, got the estimate on Thursday and work was done on Saturday of the same week! That is service!!

Jack was very thorough and organized throughout and when additional, unexpected repairs were required he responded very promptly.

I did plenty of research before I started this project and got two other estimates. Jack was very responsive to my initial call for an estimate. His crew was very punctual, talented, hard working, organized and professional. They did everything they promised and more (cut a hole for furnace exhaust pipe free of charge). I've worked with with many contractors over the years and JL was one of the easiest I've ever worked with. The job site was cleaned-up and organized everyday until the job was complete! I have a 2yr old and stray nails and roofing debris was an initial concern of mine. The roof looks great and they left the outside of my house very clean. I would hire JL again and would strongly recommend them to friends and family. Hiring JL is an easy decision.
