They were quick. It was easy to communicate and it was easy to reach them. They were very professional and organized. They clearly knew what they were doing. The guys who worked for the contractor worked as a team and they were very approachable. If there was something that I was concerned about, then they were quick to respond, explain and do it in a different way.

Workers were on time. Addressed any issues I had. Finished in a timely manner. Chimney looks great. Work is guaranteed for 3 years.

I spoke to three companies regarding bids, and in my opinion, I received the best price for the work required from J L Contractor Services.The work started on the date promised and completed on time. The work crew did an excellent job of cleaning up after the job was completed and Jack called after the work was done to follow up on any questions or concerns.

We did not actually have the work done by JL contractors. Jack(?) came by as promised and came up with an estimate but wrote it on the back of a business card in illegible handwriting. I had to call back and ask him to provide a professional written estimate. Once I requested it, he was very prompt in returning a professional estimate via email and his price was very fair according to the other bids we received. We did not wind up using JL but we would consider in the future. I think he should provide professional estimates the first time around to put a better foot forward. I felt he didn't take our business seriously initially which is the only complaint I had.

Jack was professional and polite. Although we went with a different company, he came out to the house when he said he would and took the time to give us a detailed roofing quote. He gave us a competitive price that fit in the same price range as our other two roofing finalists. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jack to others or ask him to do work for us in the future.

JL (Jack) did an excellent job tuck pointing our townhouse. They did the full job of grinding, power washing, and new mortar. The price was considerably better than two other estimates and the work was first rate. We had one inadvertent issue... they asked to use a power outlet and had to use one inside the house. They came in through a basement window and failed to seal the window so we had a considerable dust problem from the grinding. I brought this Jack's attention and without hesitation he made arrangements with a cleaner who thoroughly cleaned the basement as well as the first floor and stairway to second floor. It was a mistake to not seal the window but Jack made it right and all was well. I would not hesitate to use JL again and refer him to friends...

Jack was great. He came out within a few days of contacting him. He reviewed what was needed, made some recommendations and then gave us a proposal. He always returned phone calls promptly and was always pleasant and polite. The two gentlemen who did the work were efficient and tidied up after themselves. The work looks good.

I have used Jack before and he is responsive to calls. He came out quickly to make an assesment of what was causing peeling paint in third floor bathroom. I was not sure if was a roofing issue. He took measurements to see where leak was coming from. This is a 120 yr old frame with a highg third floor.He sent his 2 person staff who came with appropriate ladders.First they put back the siding and then did the chimmney.I think he and his staff are no nonsense hard workers.

Owner Jack came over to give us an estimate the same day I called! He was incredibly polite, prompt and really knew his stuff. He addressed all of our questions and concerns and even brought up things that we would have never thought to ask, but were important to know. We decided to use J L even though his quote was $20 more than the others, which is still in the competitive range. Jack just had more confidence and seemed to really care about doing a good job more than the others we received quotes from. The workers did an incredible job when it was time to get the work done, too. You can't even see where they repair it was done so beautifully and seamlessly. It looks brand new and the new (salvaged) bricks look exactly like the original ones that were there. Very nice job. Very professional. They also completely cleaned up and hauled everything away. One of the best experiences we have ever had with a contractor. Highly recommended.

Jack came out to estimate the job on the same day we called. He was very thorough in examing what needed to be done - he went up on the roof, took pictures of the chimneys, and explained what would be done. The estimate he submitted was also very thorough. We approved it on Monday and they started the job on Wednesday. His workmen also explained what they were doing and cleaned up very well before they left. We were pleased with their work. We obtained 3 estimates for this job using companies on Angie's list. We chose JL Contractors becuase of Jack's thoroughness in reviewing the job and his explanation of the work to be done. Their price was competitive. Jack and his workmen were pleasant to deal with.

Old roof needed replacing after storm damage. My chimney was also crumbling. Jack was great. I had barely hung up the phone when he called back. He came out immediately to look at my roof. Jack was very professional, courteous, prompt, and thorough. Work began within a week. He arrived early with a large crew. The job took two days....first day was tear-off and sheathing repair, and rebuild the chimney, They entire job was completed the next day. The crew was amazing.... I couldn't believe they worked non - stop through the horrendous heat. There had been a heat advisory both days. 105 degrees. I had understandably expected them to postpone the work until the weather was better, but they didn't. To make conditions worse, the truck was unable to use the conveyor to put the bundles on the roof due to overhead electrical lines. The crew had to carry them up. I then decided to get new gutters also. This company was very careful to protect the neighbors property, and my plants. They did a great clean - up job. I couldn't be more pleased.

Our experience with Jack and JL was excellent. Everyone knew it was going to be a difficult and filthy job, tearing off the many layers of roofing along with 115 years of dirt and debris from my very steep roof with my neighbors only 3 feet away on either side. JL spent a good deal of time protecting my house as well as the neighbors with plywood and tarps. The crew took extra care not to damage our new bathroom ceiling, less than 4 inches from where they were doing the demo. The crew showed up early every day and worked long hours to get the job done as quicly as possible. Jack was always easy to reach and returned any call very quickly. When rotten areas were discovered in our dormer, Jack did not try to gouge us and took care of the issue without additional charge. After the new roof was finished, the crew did a great job of cleaning up the site. The new roof looks great. It was a huge relief to have this difficult job done well without major incident. Jack even called the day after the job was done to make sure the dumpster was picked up. I highly recommend JL and would use them again without hesitation.

See above. I contacted JL Contractor Services for issues(missing vent cap, drain spout, missing masonry). They were able to help me with all of these projects. The fees seemed reasonable and the service was very prompt. I would use them again.

on 8-25-2010 sent an email to JL Construction and described the above and asking if they would be willing to provide an estimate. They replied later that evening apologizing that they would not be able to assist until December as they were in the middle of a large project.

It went well. Jack communicates well and the job was done with in a few day of request.

Jack's crew did a great job and we were very, very pleased with both the quality of work they provided and the price. I would highly recommend this firm and would definitley use them again.

We contacted J L Contractors through their website to set up an appointment for an estimate. They responded to us promptly and scheduled a meeting for Friday. On Thursday, they realized they were in our area and called to ask if it would be inconvenient for us to go a day early. Not a problem, so a representative came over to discuss our problem. Upon inspection of the roof, the contractor candidly admitted our problem was beyond the scope of his ability or skill level. We really appreciated his honesty. He left us with the name of another company that might be better qualified for the job. So while I can't review their workmanship, I can review their integrity. Good guys at J L. Give em a shot!

Jack's workers did an outstanding job. This was not an easy job. The caps were on a small balcony and the workers carried these huge limestone caps down and up 5 flights of stairs. This saved me a ton of money because no scaffolding had to be erected. I assumed I would have to replace the damaged caps but Jack suggested a patch type repair instead which also saved me over $1000 that new caps would have cost. Prompt, polite, efficient - I have nothing but great things to say about Jack and his workers. Thanks so much!

The work was great from start to finish. Beginning with the estimate given by Jack. One of the reasons we selected JL Contractor was the thoroughness of the estimate. Every aspect of the job was described in detail down to the suggestion not to use salt on the new concrete. It was a three day job. The first day the crew removed the old concrete and laid the wood frames for the steps and walkway. Day two installed the new steps. Day three poured the walkway. Everything was cleared away at the end of each day. A few days later the secruity tape and wood steaks were removed. Our new walkway and steps are flawless, and we are the envy of our neighbors who've all comented on how great it looks.

Jack came out to quote the job same day I called him. The price was better was much better than one other I got. Two men came out the next day on time and did the work professionally and quickly.

Jack came out to do the estimate and had several ideas which I would have never thought of myself. Once I approved the work, he had his men on the job in two days. They replaced the roof and most of the decking on both the house and back porch. They replaced the roofing material on the front and back of the house with siding which looks so much better!!! (his idea) They made sure both neighbor's houses were well protected and cleaned up so that you would never had known they werre there. Both neighbors made comments about how clean and professional the workers were and how great the new roof and siding look.

Jack performed a thorough examination, went up on the roof, and submitted a competitive bid. He was proactive in scheduling his crew and they arrived as promised. They did a great job. The work was fast, they matched the look of the old bricks so well that you wouldn't be able to tell the chimneys were brand new. The new chimneys were up in one day. The next day, they were flashed. They did a great job cleaning up too, which was a concern since I have small children and a dog.
