I purchased marble and had it installed in 2 bathrooms by this company 23 yrs ago. I have a problem with the master bath shower as the marble under the shower doors raised probably due to movement of the high rise building I live in. I need to have the marble removed and replaced before I can have the new shower doors installed. Both glass company and the person I have clean and seal my marble suggested I contact the people who originally installed it for a suggestion of who to do the work. I called International Marble and the person suggested I send or bring in pictures to explain what I need. On 10/11 I took in pictures and was referred to the owner Peter Hlepas. I tried to show him the pictures (which he wouldn't even look at) and explain what I needed and asked if he had someone who I could have do the work and buy a slab of marble to replace what I have. He mumbled something incoherent and when I asked if he was saying he would not help or suggest someone he said yes and waved me to the door. At no time did I suggest I was unhappy with the original job as it has been 23 years and would expect some issue to occur. I gave him no reason to be this rude and left there absolutely livid as all I want is to hire someone to fix my problem and find out the best solution. When I originally did business with this company I remember he was a bit difficult to work with but almost all my dealing was with his wife who was wonderful. If this is the way this company is now run I am surprised they are still in business as he could not have been more unprofessional. If you had a rating below F he would certainly deserve it.
Description of Work: I asked them to simply provide a name of someone to repair marble that was originally done by this company and to purchase a replacement slab of marble.

The experience was so horrible it was beyond belief. The owner and the measurer refused to acknowledge that the mistake was theirs. The owner, Kostas Forlligas said "he wouldn't speak to me because I don't know his business," he wanted to speak to the contractor. The next day my husband and the contractor went to talk to him, Kostas at that point said "I won't talk to a contractor, you are not the customer." Despite the mistakes his measurer made and the fact that we had a witness, Kostas told us he would do nothing for us. We would have to pay an additional 60% to have them make a new top. In both discussions Kostas was unreasonable and unprofessional. He even had the nerve to call the police to "us removed for trespassing." We did not yell he is just a jerk. This situation would be laughable if it didn't cost us $700 deposit - we had to file a dispute with Visa. Since this happened we have heard of many similar stories. My advice - don't even consider going there.
Description of Work: We contracted with them to cut a marble vanity top for a new master bath. They came out twice to do measurements - our contractor discussed with our specific needs with him so there would be no confusion since the finishing pieces were not on the cabinet - so he was told to add an extra 3/4". I asked for a standard backsplash and overhang - I was told by the installer that a standard overhaung was 3/4" - (Mistake #1, I found out later 1 1/2" is standard). We were also told that the sinks that we purchased would not fit, they had sinks that would. On the day of the install the sinks did not fit - and we had to cut notches out of our custom cabinets to make them fit (Mistake #2). When the top arrived for the install we also found out that it didn't fit - he did not add the extra 3/4" as told (Mistake #3). This mistake combined with the smaller overhang meant that the vanity top was flush with the cabinet Not acceptable. None of the promised goods or service were delivered.
