If you are going through Home Depot and contact them, the work will be consistent. They were cordial, but the problem that we had was with the person assisting us. They were not 100% forthright about what they could and could not do. They said it was a soft sale, and it was a hard sell after they called my husband three times a day. It was a little aggressive. They needed to be honest about what they could do. Every potential problem we were told, that it would not be a problem, but they made it sound that some things they were going to do, could potentially be a violation. We weren't pleased with that. The price was very good. They are very good about responding.
Description of Work: They provided a subcontractor to give me an estimate on the central air unit.

My husband and I picked up carpet samples in store and brought them home. In response to the $37 installation special promoted online and in store, I went to the Home Depot website to estimate the cost of the carpet purchase. I tried calling the store to discuss purchase/ schedule in home measurement. I was routed and re-routed over the phone for more than 30 minutes so I gave up that angle. The next day I went into the North Ave Home Depot store to schedule the carpet install measurement or move forward with my carpet purchase after deciding on a carpet and color. No one was working in the flooring department the morning I went to do this (9:15 AM week day arrival). I waited for 20+ minutes in the department without assistance along with other customers and called the store on the phone while sitting in the store to try and get someone's attention. My call was routed and re-rerouted continuously while I sat there. Employees not qualified to assist in the department walked through the department and called for an MOD to come to the department. No one qualified bothered to show so I left. In my car I tried calling the store again to talk to a manager. I finally did. He apologized and said multiple people in that department had called off today. He said due to my trouble he would have the $35 in home measurement done at no cost to me and someone would call to schedule shortly. 7 hours later I received a phone call from someone who went through every detail of my install to provide me a quote. This was after I told him exactly which carpet I wanted and the SF of the room. I asked him simply for a date/ time for a measurement in home and reminded him of the $37 install special and comp'd in-home measurement due to issues in store. All was new news to him. After a 20+ minute phone call and reminding him the in home measurement was supposed to be at no cost, he provided me with a carpet quote I didn't ask for that was over $200 than what I had estimated on the Home Depot website. He told he was supposed to provide an inflated quote over the phone but that the actual quote with measurement should be lower. (WHAT??????) We ended the call with him committing someone would call me on the day of my measurement between 7-9 AM to provide me with a time window. I received an email welcoming me to their install system with a contact number and email address. Today, the day of appointment no one called as promised (am I surprised?). I proceeded to inquire with them about my time window. I called the store and was routed and re-routed through the lines again, no luck. I sent an email to the contact email from the "welcome" notice and I called the phone number in the welcome notice. O the call I was notified that I actually wasn't scheduled for an appointment today because the man who "scheduled" it never processed the fee payment (really?). I ended the call then by thanking the person who answered the phone. I let her know I would never try to work with Home Depot on such a project again. Then I scheduled an appt next day with Empire Carpets for an in home measurement. I will post results with that provider later.
Description of Work: very little except provide samples for me to take, reroute my phone call and make excuses and promises over the phone.

I spent an hour with the associate and then he finally told me he was not authorized to change the price and the manager would call me back the next day. In the last two weeks I have called and talked to three people, all of them have told me they would have someone call me. Guess what no calls. My the way each time it took about 30 minutes to get someone on the phone. What horrible service. I will continue to go to HD for light bulbs and other stuff, but will never use them for special orders or projects.
Description of Work: Went to lumber liquidators to get a quote. I then brought a sample of the wood to Home Depot to see if they could match the price.

They have hourly rates. I would recommend them. They didn't require a credit card, like most places do. They had a vehicle immediately. I rented it after their normal hours of operation, and I could still drop off the vehicle and not be charged for it. Everything was really clean and easy.

The faucet was faulty. We spent $300 to have it installed-the faucet works but the arm swings too much. Plumber said it was the type of ball berring used that came with the faucet. Glacier Bay is a product of Home Depot, it is their brand. The plumber charged us $300--we had no choice we needed a kitchen faucet. Called Home Depot and their corporate headquarters. Home Depot will not pay for us to get a new faucet installed. Even though they admit the faucet is faulty it they will not come to our house and make this right. 1. Don't buy Home Depot brand products. Our plumber said that they are not well made. 2. Don't expect Home Depot to want to make their customer's happy and satisfied. They would rather sell faulty products and then leave it up to the customer to foot the bill. 3. Go to Ace Hardware--they actually help their customers and stand by their products.

It was Ok. The windows I purchased did not look like they belonged with my house as much as the ones from the Marvin Dealer. Home depot had better quality windows than what I purchased but, I couldn't afford them. For similar quality, it seemed like they were as expensive or more than the other company.
Description of Work: replaced windows on side of house (12 windows). I made the decision based on the 0% financing for 12 months. I hired a local Marvin/Infinity dealer for the front and back of the house but couldn't afford the price for the sides (which face brick walls anyway, and I needed the 12 months to pay it off.). The guy selling the product was nice, but tried the hard sell pproach which I am not fond of. The guy measuring was ok but not the same guy who installed. The guys who installed were fast (2 guys 12 windows in 8 hours). The quality of the window was not as good as what I got from the local company (you get what you pay for), but they were still energy star and half the price of the other ones.

The experience was good. The only thing I didn't realize was that the doors were unfinished, so I had to do that myself. They also told me that I had to do it immediately because they were pine and they would warp pretty quickly if I didn't. That was a bit of a surprise.

Everything from A to Z was a disaster with them; from going in there trying to get it done, the measuring and finding out that they had everything screwed up. I had to deal with 4 different people throughout the process and it was complete mess. I wouldn’t trust them with anything at this point. Their price was half of what I got from another company.

They did a good job. Original a person came out and measured our windows and talked about the different styles. Then another person just above him came to reconfirm the size and style. Later 2 other people came and took out the old windows and put in the new windows. They were great. It was a timely process and we were very satisfied with the work.

Overall it went ok. The sample carpet didn't match up accurately with the actual and the installation left something to be desired but it was very plesant to deal with a real live person to resolve these issues rather than a customer service rep on the phone. I am still waiting to see what Home Depot will do to fix the installation issues but I am confident they will resolve them. Overall, so far, this has been a better experience than when I bought carpet through Luna.

Home Depot refused to give me an in-home estimate for a bathroom remodel unless all "decision-makers" were available at the time of the appointment. I explained I was the sole decision maker, my husband would not be available because of his travel schedule and didn't care about what I did, it was my house and my money that was involved. No dice. As far as Home Depot was concerned, he was a decision-maker by virtue of marital status. I've had an entire roof replaced, kitchen remodeled, and 20 windows replaced. Never did I have to trot my husband out for a workman's approval. Home Depot says that's their policy and the norm in the industry.

Robert was a great help, with not only a good sense of design, but a practical one as well. He was able to make many useful recommendations for cabinet trim, hardware, flooring, countertops based on my taste, his experience and better taste, ease of maintenance, product quality, etc. For example, he stressed that one should aim to have guests compliment the kitchen as a whole, not just one glorious feature such as cabinets or appliances. He is cordial, makes clear that his recommendations do not come with a push to buy only at Home Depot. He went out of his way to identify discounts that applied to my situation. Now that my kitchen is completed, I receive many compliments on the kitchen, and in particular on the cabinets I purchased through Robert.
