I signed into my Angie's List account and emailed Hardt Electric. Within 5 minutes, Hardt electrician Todd responded. He was friendly and professional on the phone and he set up an appointment that fit my schedule. He arrived ten minutes early and he demonstrated that he had a strong work ethic. He diagnosed the problem, gave me a couple choices for possible solutions, and then he proceeded to complete the work based on my instructions. We called to set up an appointment with Todd. Our first choice was to set up the job for Friday, but he was unable to come that day. We settled on the following Monday. Much to our delight, Todd called later in the week and told us he would be able to fit us in on our original choice day! Hurray! Todd called that morning (as promised) with a window of time when he would be able to be at our house. He called again to confirm he was on his way. Todd arrived on time and completed the job promptly. The dimmer switch he installed exceeded our expectations! It looks great, but more importantly it works great. Todd was prompt, professional,and courteous . We were absolutely satisfied with his work, and we would not hesitate to hire again.

From start to finish, Todd was prompt, efficient, and extremely helpful. As first time homeowners, we definitely needed someone to coach us through the process, and Todd did. We sincerely appreciated his candor, pleasant attitude, and willingness to work with the other contractors that were around. We're no electrical experts, but everything seems to be working wonderfully and the under cabinet lighting is absolutely gorgeous. We'd use Hardt Electric again in a Haerdtbeat (haha, excuse the pun)!

My dishwasher was not working, it appeared to have no power. I called an appliance repair company and their guy came twice and could not fix it. He said the switch was broken that went to the dishwasher. So I called Hardt Electric on Friday. They said their guy Tod was not available until Monday and gave me his cell number. I called him and arranged to be his first customer on Monday at 7 am. He was five minutes early and fixed it in short order. He was extremely polite and professional and could not understand why the appliance guy could not fix it. He also found that the original installer had used the wrong screws for the box and had put in an unnecessary fuse and he corrected both. He also answered my questions about future projects that I might have. I would highly recommend Tod and Hardt Electric and already have.

Todd our serviceman arrived on time and was very pleasant. He was very efficient with his time and explained to us what he was doing. He seemed very experienced in working in older homes (our home was built in 1925). Everything looks great, and we were very impressed. I would recommend Todd to anyone who needs an electrician.

Todd arrived at time agreed, knew immediately what the problem was , made the repairs and informed me how to check the fixture safely in future. Highly recommended.

Todd did an excellent job. He called me to let me know that he was delayed on a repair at another site and let me know what time he would be coming out, asking if that was okay. I thought that was very courteous. He diagnosed the problem with the two lights and fixed it. His advise on the other lighting issues in the basement was sound. We plan on selling this house "as is" and did not want to invest alot in new fixtures. I will definitely be asking for Todd again if I have electrical issues in my residence or plan to add new or replacement fixtures.

My condo association needed to find an electrician to replace some exterior outlets. Our prior electrician had just cancelled on us for what I determined to be the last time. I went looking for a new, responsive, well reviewed electrician to hire for this job and future jobs. I was not disappointed with Todd. He was incredibly responsive, very polite, friendly, knowledgable, and prompt. The work was completed well and timely. I could not be happier with my decision and plan to contact Todd for future work for both myself and the association.

Todd came out on time and got right to work fixing the wiring problems some of which were caused by a previous contractor. Todd efficiently checked all the outlets and fixed those that had reverse polarity, no grounding, needing GFCI and not to code. Todd?s work is excellent and he is knowledgeable and honest. He explained everything and what was needed or not. He got the job done right! I definitely recommend Todd and Hardt Electric. Top quality work!

My husband and I own a 2-flat in West Rogers Park. One day we lost half of the electricity on the 1st floor. I called Bob to schedule an appt. His electrician Todd was in the area and he arrived at the building in 1/2 hour. He was there repairing the problem for two hours. He was great to work with. He explained everything that he was doing to fix the situation and I got an Angie's List discount! I will definitely use Hardt Electric again. They were great!

I called Hardt Electric in the morning, as the previous evening we had experienced a surge in electricity which resulted in melting down 4 power strips in our home. For several months we had also been experiencing flickering and dimming lights and low power to appliances in our home. I spoke to Todd who told me he would be able to come to the house around noon. Despite snow and traffic he arrived exactly when he said he would. He quickly diagnosed several issues we had with our breaker box, inspected the connections outside and contacted ComEd to schedule them to come out in case the problem lay on their end. He determined that a wire was loose outside which was causing power to surge at dangerous levels. He repaired the problem and also suggested some improvements we could make to our breaker box and electrical service. Todd was very competent and was able to perform the work in under two hours. I would highly recommend him and Hardt Electric, and would definitely use them again in the future.

.It started out at an ordinary Thirsday. Then there was a drip noted from the ceiling bathroom in the basement at my Mom's place.. Then the realization that the decorative bulbs in the light fixture were half filled with water. Yikes! So we needed a plumber and an electrician pronto. Hardt electric answered promtly and Todd set a time to come out within about two hours. The plumber we used ( whom I have reviewed before (Burmeister) also was very responsoive and there pronto. Todd from Hardt electric worked very rapidly and professionally . The leaking pipe was already replaced when he got here with the electricity and water both off. He inspected the wiring and did whatever was needed to fix and repaor and replace and make the place safe. He had to replacde the box, which literally had fallen out of the ceiling due to the moisture and it no llonger being supported. He fashioned a new wooden support for it. We plan to get a new fixture after the holidays, but that is just cosmetics. Todd also explained every step to my Mom and daughter and myself. My Mom is 92 and was very concerned about the probable cost and about what was happening in her basement since she no longer goes down those stairs and she could not "see it" for herself. So, we are especially appreciative that although we started with a large safety issue where someone could have been accidentally electrocuted or there could have had a fire, it ended with a very positive experience within hours. Todd was excellent at explaining everything and answeering questions. He worked solidly and in the end, with the $30 off coupon from Angie's list the price was excellent for an emergency electrician for the time he had to spend. We will definitely use them again and will recommend them. Aside from the phone numbers listed for them, Todd provided an additional number ( his private cell phone) in case it was needed. Very highly recommended. .I have a couple of additional photos which I will try to post, showing the hole left in the bahroom ceiling and the decorative bulbs filled with water etc. I should mention that Todd cleaned up beautifully and now we are moving on to looking up plasterer's on Angie's list! When we get a new fixture and the ceiling is repaired and dry we will be contacting Hardt to put in the new fixture!

He was very detailed and very fair priced. He spoke what he would charge and that was it. He explained everything to my husband and he was very patient.

Todd was right on time, 6:15amct! He was very knowledgeable and explained what had happened and the work he would do to correct the situation. A less ethical electrician could have taken advantage of us but Todd was very honest when he said it would be simple to fix. He got the job done and cleaned up very professionally.

It went very well. Todd of Hardt Electric was on time and very professional. He performed the work needed and also took on some smaller projects while he was there. He is very knowledgable and is able to find solutions to problems often encountered in older houses. I would definitely use Todd and Hardt Electric again.

After having two pipes burst in our condo boiler room, we need to find an electrician quickly to repair damage. We got very lucky by finding Hardt Electric Inc. Todd is the best electrician I've used for my 20 some years of ownership! He was on time, knowledge & honest in what needed to be done. Contacted Hardt based on excellent reviews on Angie's List, including a number from customers in our area. We were put in touch with Todd, who was able to come on the day we requested. He told us about what time he thought he would arrive, and actually came earlier after calling us that morning to let us know.. He was friendly and professional and explained everything he did, even giving us a tip on how to avoid a problem when replacing light bulbs in old "can" sockets in our kitchen in the future. He replaced two light switches (one an old mercury one) in our kitchen, and also tweaked wires in our doorbell/intercom box so that we could actually hear it again. We really appreciated having these two problems taken care of so quickly and professionally and would definitely call Hardt and Todd for electrical service in the future. I called Hardt Electric on Sunday, though it was not an emergency, we just wanted to get the job done fairly soon so we could proceed with other work in the bathroom. I spoke to Bob who was away from the office, he requested that I send him an email with the job information. I sent the email, and received a call from Todd on Monday. We agreed he would come on Tuesday morning at 8am. Todd called at 7:30 stating traffic was bad, he would be maybe 15 minutes late. (It was raining, and I know how roads can be when it rains!) Todd arrived up at 8:03. He was very professional, made some suggestions how the recptacles and light switches could be set up, and we agreed. He found wiring inside the cavity where the medicine cabinet had been that was not code. I thought this was the case when we removed the medicine cabinet last week. He replaced the wiring, gave me an extra duplex recptacle, and moved the light switch. Todd was here for 3 1/2 hours, and cleaned up the site after he was finished Overall we are very satisfied at the end result, and would use Hardt Electric and Todd again, and would recommend to anyone.
