Guaranteed Gutters - Gutter Cleaning

I was given an estimate and time frame over the phone. Because of weather issues this time of year, it took a short while for a good day to work to arrive, but they came out to clean our gutters within a couple of weeks. The owner and one workman came and did the most incredibly thorough gutter cleaning this house has seen in many years!! Our former company would spend about 15 minutes here. They also repaired a leak and provided baskets to help prevent some clogging that was occuring at some of the downspouts. All in all a very pleasant and happy experience. I would definitely have these guys back again

We had some fairly substantial hail damage and needed to have our gutters repaired, which the insurance company was going to partially pay for. Our job was a bit complicated because the original gutters on our home were a Leaf Guard brand knock-off that weren't manufactured anymore. After getting estimates for a repair and/or replacement of a similar gutter type, there was no way we would be able to make it happen with the amount the insurance company was offering. In addition to that, because our gutters were, essentially discontinued (the company had actually gone out of business), we couldn't do any repairs without a total gutter replacement. We also came to the realization that the type of one piece gutters/gutter guards we already had weren't really all they were cracked up to be and had a lot of problems. I got a few estimates for a few types of gutters, including something similar to what we already had, and most of the prices for repair and replacement were stupidly expensive and the sales people didn't really give me a lot of confidence. So, after researching more gutter companies online and on Angie's List, I came across Guaranteed Gutters, who offered a lot of choices for gutters and gutter guards, since it seemed we were looking at replacing all of our gutters with something more standard and reliable, and not just a repair. Tim is amazing. I don't understand these reviews that mention his lack of communication, because he couldn't have been more communicative and informative if he lived in our house and just hung out with us everyday. He returned every single one of my calls promptly (within 24 hours, if not before) and, at times, called to check in and just update during the entire process. Above and beyond the call of duty! In addition to being really courteous, he provided us with a great deal of information about gutters, gutter guards and, basically, the physics of how it all works. He recommended what he thought was the best option for us without any hard sell or pushiness at all. And, his recommendations really matched my outside research about what the best gutters/gutter guards would be for us. He even arranged for an outside contractor that he does business with to help us negotiate a better payout from our insurance company because of the extent of the damage and the replacement cost, so that was awesome. And, they worked within the final budget and didn't scrimp on anything. I feel like we got more than our money's worth. His crew was super nice and pro, too. Highly recommended.

I called several people listed on Angie's Lists for quotes. I also called the various gutter repair people that were recommended by my roofer, Mathews Roofing and the Gutter Monkeys. Nobody would call me back. Finally I called Tim at Guaranteed Gutters. He called me back promptly and arranged to replace my missing gutter and downspouts immediately. He did the work fast and matched the color nicely. I would highly recommend him. I won't be calling the Gutter Monkeys again after this - I'll call Guaranteed Gutters to clean my gutters too.

I selected Guaranteed Gutters based on their reviews on Angie's List and they were fantastic!The downspout in front of our unit was completely clogged. I called around, but few gutter cleaning companies would do the work as we are a 3.5 floor building (garden level + 3 more levels). Most of them just said no. Tim said he thought they could do it and gave me a ballpark estimate.I encouraged him to come out to look at the job as I didn't think 40 foot ladders would be enough, and I wanted everyone to know what they were getting into. Tim did come out and took the time to let me know that he was coming so that we could discuss the job. He made recommendations and sent me a bid. He then followed up with me to see if I had any questions and we set a time to do the work. They came when they said they would, did the work and each crew member was very friendly and wanted to make sure that all of my questions were answered. At the end, we ran into a clog underground (where the gutters/downspouts tie into the sewer) that they could not easily fix. Tim then provided recommendations, and I chose to reroute the water above ground and away from the building. Tim and his crew did that additional work right there on the spot (including spray painting the gutters to match the existing gutters) at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE which I thought was above and beyond and just incredible. I hope our gutters stay clear for a while, but we will definitely use them again! Totally satisfied and highly recommend Tim and his crew!

The downspouts on our garage were stolen, I guess for the aluminum. I called Guaranteed Gutters for an estimate to replace them with vinyl/plastic downspouts. I'd taken pictures of the garage area were the gutters needed replacing, so I could email them to potential contractors and not have to wait for them to come out to do an estimate. I called Guaranteed Gutters and spoke with Tim about the job, sent him the photos and he called back right away to give me a quote. While I was waiting for another contractor to call me back with an estimate, Tim from GG called back and said he'd be in my area and would be able to do the job that day and offered me a better price (although the first quote was not unreasonable). I was very happy to take him up on the offer and get the job done. They came by later that day, did a great job and not only did they replaced the downspouts but also the elbows joints and drop outlets, and stuck to the price he quoted me. I am very happy with how the whole situation came down and would definitely recommend GG.

We contacted Tim @ Guaranteed Gutters and he came out to perform the estimate. The repair involved fixing the top portion of our downspout on our 4 story condo building that had been damaged due to ice from the previous winter. The gutter was on the backside of the building adjacent to our parking. Tim review the situation and provided a timely quote of $375 to repair the upper portion and attach it back to the building. Tim set up an appointment to make the repair and we arranged for the cars to be moved so he could access the back wall and repair the downspout. I went home and the repairs had not been completed. I spoke with Tim and due to the wind that day he felt it wasn't safe. I totally understood but was upset that there had not been any communication that day about the wind. So we set up another appointment and yet again had everyone move their cars (not a fun thing in Chicago). Again, I came home and no repairs we done. Given this was the second time (and no communication again) I was very upset. So I contact Tim yet again and let a message. He called me back later that night and explained that he had been out there earlier in the day and as he was getting ready to work, had the metal ladder too close to the powerline to the building and felt a shock. He spent the rest of the day trying to come up with a solution to still perform the work but in a manner that was more safe. I appreciate the determination to find a solution, Tim did not give up. But in the end there really wasn't a suitable solution that he could provide. Thus the "C" rating vs. a worse one. Bottom line, I understand there will be issues that can arise during any repair but communication is the biggest piece of that. Just let me know if you run into an issue. The second frustrating piece is that nothing changed form when he gave us an estimate and when he went out to perform the work. The powerline was in the same location it was when they built the building and the height of the repair did not change. Those should have been caught during the estimate and noted as such. Good price but you need to be able to get the job completed safety and communicate when there are issues. We had another contractor complete the job.

Guaranteed Gutters did an excellent job and above and beyond the required work to seal the leaks we had in our gutters as well as cleaning them thoroughly. I would not hesitate using them again or recommending to others.

Tim, the owner, took photos of the roof and spent several minutes on the phone with me answering questions about particular line items in his estimate. He was always courteous and professional. In the end, I chose a different contractor for the repair work because I felt Tim's estimate was a little too high. Nonetheless, my experience with Guaranteed Gutters was positive overall.

The gutters on my front porch were rotting and falling off but, because they were a rare style of antique box gutter most contractors were reluctant to touch them and would either not give me an estimate at all or give one upwards of $3,000 just to redo the front porch. I hired these guys because they offered me a cheaper price to redo all the gutters in the house. The fact that they were willing to patch animals holes and put out traps was an added bonus as most companies who offer this service charge a per animal fee. Now that they have completed the job, the gutters are all free of debris and strongly hung. The replaced siding and the front gutter look very sharp although I can't be 100% sure how the gutter works because we have yet to have a really heavy rain since it was installed. Most of the animal hole patches are good too although I found a couple where the patch they used was too small for the hole and the squirrels are able to just go in around it. So the good news is that they did an above average job for a bargain basement price. However, where this company suffers is in response time and professionalism. I was going away on a trip at the beginning of June which I let them know before hiring them and asked if they could have the job done before I left (if not I was fine with waiting until I got back). They told me it was no problem and they would start that Thursday (currently two weeks out from the trip date). Come Thursday, I got a phone call saying something had come up and they would have to delay work until the following Monday. They showed up on Monday and cleaned some gutters then let me know they would be back the next day to finish the job. They did not show up on Tuesday and I didn't hear from them again until Thursday or Friday that week when they called to tell me they wouldn't be back until the following week. I said I was leaving town on Wednesday and asked if they could be done before that to which they responded that they would do their best. When I left town on Wednesday I hand not seen or heard from them again. I understand that contractors many experience delays in work sometimes but the number and length of the delays here seemed a bit much. At least they accepted with grace the stipulation I made that payment wait until my return in mid June so I could inspect the work in person. The other issue I had was that the owner, Tim, tried to hard sell me on some upgrades. During the planning stages I asked him to give me an additional quote for installing leaf traps on the gutters and he said he'd look into it and get back to me, which he never did. Eventually, I called him again to give him the go ahead for the base job at which point he told me he could do screens on my whole house for $1,000 extra. It seems like a reasonable price but I just wasn't ready to make the decisions involved in this kind of work (helmets versus screens, front and back gutters versus whole house). When I told him I wanted to wait, he immediately asked if I'd do it if he reduced the price slightly. I said I just wanted some more time to research the various products to which he responded that he was the expert and the only product that was any good was a particular brand of screen (for which he happened to be a dealer). This may not seem like a big deal to some but I really don't like contractors haggling and pushing products on me and it soured our communications for the rest of the job.

After several discussions on the phone, they came out and completed all the work in 1 day. Tim was very knowledgable about my gutters and even did extra roof repairs while he was up there.

Went well. They did the work while I was away. They sent pictures of the work and emailed me the invoice and guarantee.

I did not know if they serviced my area so I left a message stating my needs and location and clearly repeated my phone number twice but they never returned my call. After about a week I called someone else and the work was completed promptly. Apparently these folks already have more business than they can handle.

We were very happy with the work that Guaranteed Gutters did replacing a drainpipe damaged by a storm on our four unit condo building. They came out quickly for an estimate, were able to do work with a 65ft ladder that they had (several other companies did not have the ladder and would have charged $200 for ladder rental), came did work and included sidewalk sealant for free. Professional, quick and responsive. Highly recommended.

I called on a Tuesday to schedule a time to have my gutters cleaned. Tim said that he might have some time this week and that he would call me back. The very next day, Tim called and said they would be in my area in a few hours and would I be home. After surveying the job, Tim recommended some repairs that he noticed to go along with the cleaning. He and his employee were very punctual, competent and cleaned up thoroughly after the job. A pleasure to work with!

They seemed very responsive and professional at first. They finally resolved the leaking gutter. They could use some improvement in communication

I got him off Angie's list. I had a good experience with him. He charged me exactly what he quoted me. The price he charged me was great. I will use them again in the future.

This was my first experience with Angie's List and not a good one at that. We moved to a new house where upon our home inspection before moving in, it was recommended that we repitch the gutters and downspouts as well as maybe get some gutter guards based on on the amount of trees we have on our property. Being a little naive, I moved forward with these folks upon seeing the 50% discount deal without really doing my due diligence of researching individual reports versus the overall scores. When you look at the overall scores, it's all A's for this company but when you start to look at the individual reviews - which I learned is important only after the fact since I was new to this site - their was a common thread on lower scores that all centered on responsiveness or lack thereof. Our experience with these folks was that we purchased the 50% coupon and were billed the $99. About a week later, I received an email from them thanking me for the purchase - which I thought was a nice touch. After that and upon trying to schedule an appointment, it went down from there. I called them about a week later to schedule an appointment, but got their voice message for which I left my message to call me back to schedule an appointment which I also followed with an email. A little less than a week later, Tim called me back and asked what I was looking for. He informed me that he was very busy, but would try to stop by the next day. When I tried to obtain a time on when he would stop bye, he stated he couldn't commit because he didn't have his schedule in front of him. This reply concerned me, of course, for why even call me back to schedule an appointment if you don't have your schedule in front of me? This response conveyed a lack of organization to me for not being able to schedule an exact time and date to meet with him wasn't going to work for me. I needed to walk him through what I was looking to do and be able to ask questions and obtain his feedback as well as work within my busy schedule of meetings and travel. He never showed up as he stated - which didn't surprise me since he didn't commit to a time on the date he stated he would stop bye - and I never heard from him for the remainder of the week. It was based on this experience that I contacted Angie's List to credit back my account of the $99 - which they did promptly and for which I was extremely appreciative of. I thought that was the end of it and was disappointed that I would most likely have to not only find another vendor for this work, but put it off until next Spring. A few days later when on a conference call for my company, I see on my other line that Tim was calling and left a message. I didn't have a chance to listen to it, but a few hours later I see a truck pull up in front of my house and a guy gets out and walks in front of my house and starts writing down some notes on a notepad. When I go outside and ask if I could help him, he informs me he's from Guaranteed Gutters. Needless to say, I was not only angry that they just showed up without me confirming the time and day with them - which was cancelled anyway - but they also arrived at the wrong address for the project. i had to tell the gentleman in the truck that not only was he at the wrong house, but I had cancelled the job. Extremely unprofessional, unorganized and based on the individual reviews I saw in Angie's List, I'm not the only one who felt this way about this company. While trying to be compassionate and understanding for it does pain me to leave such a bad review, it is deserved. I really think this company is doing a disservice to themselves by being on Angie's List if they don't get a better handle on their scheduling and response turnaround time process. I've seen the positive reviews on Angie's List on their work, but a lot of lower scores on their responsiveness. I'm taking the time to write this review for I care and I hope they take this criticism as an opportunity on understanding where they can improve as well as for the integrity of and at the request of Angie's List.

Solid work. Advised me of what was needed—which was appreciated—and all the work was done very professionally.

The crew arrived on time, went up and diagnosed the workload, came back and described their recommendations. We agreed and they performed the work in less than 1 hour.

Company was slow to return phone call with a quote, but when they did, it was the best price I had received, so I scheduled a gutter cleaning. I was told they would come the following Monday and would put an invoice through the door when the service was completed. As far as I can tell, they never, ever showed up. (We never heard them, the gutter still has twigs sticking out and still flows over the edge, and we never got an invoice.) A follow-up phone call by us was never returned. I really wanted them to provide the service (and had told them I wanted to pre-schedule this service 3x per year). I guess I have to find a better company.

I can't rely on them. A couple months is way too long to wait. If there was some reason that they couldn't do the job they should of at least called me to let me know what the problem was.
