The power had gone on and off in our home over the weekend. After that I noticed that our central air was no longer blowing. I called Green Energy HVAC and Joe was able to come out within 3 hours. Joe came out and spent an hour looking over the unit to discover that it was a circut fuse that had been tripped during the power surges. He said it was so trivial that he wasn't going to charge me. However, I gave him $100.00 for the time he spent at my home.
Description of Work: Joe came out to fix my Central Air unit in 100 degree heat.

Terrible. My building engineer encouraged me to cancel my appointment with a vendor I found on Angie's List since these two men "Green Energy HVAC" already were working successfully for most of the residents in my building.. Since I trusted my engineer, I listened. My engineer said they were using a simpler thermostat that would fit better than my current one in the space I already had wired. (The building engineer said that there would be a charge for a service call, and the thermostat would run $250.00 which seemed expensive, but I had not priced them). I should have realized something was wrong when the engineer insisted on calling the provider for me, rather than giving me their name and number. The company was supposed to call back within a half hour, and did not. The next day, after contacting my engineer a second time, I received a call back. The engineer came up with two men and a thermostat. The two men, in addition to installing the thermostat, tried to sell me a "humidistat", a humidifier that blew water through the air ducts. When I asked the second guy (not Joe) if that would create mold, he said "Gee, I never thought of that. Let's ask Joe". Joe explained that they would have to figure out how to run a water line through my ceiling. They also tried to sell me an air filter which would require major construction. Very unimpressed with their presentation, general knowledge, relentless sales pitches and conduct. When they gave me the bill, I was stunned. They charged me $514: $150.00 for their service (sales) call, and $355.00 for a White/Rodgers 1F85-275 non-programmable thermostat. I told them that was much more than I had been told by my building, but they insisted that was the price. I found it unusual that the receipt they gave me had no business heading or info on it (like you buy at an office supply store). They did give me a business card, and do have a simple website. Last night I checked the price of the thermostat online, and the most expensive one retailed for $77.00 (vs. the $355.00 they charged me). Complete rip-off. I would NEVER use this provider again, and think people should know about them.
Description of Work: The programmable thermostat in my bedroom was replaced with a non-programmable thermostat.
