What a great experience with Great Hardwood Flooring ! Paul the owner came out the same day we called and gave us a reasonable estimate to refinish original oak floors. He was upfront about what to expect. The floors came out beautiful although we were a little worried about the finish Paul suggested as to upkeep and care. We took his personal advise and so far we are very pleased. Manuel and Karol his crew were always on time, friendly and polite. They were very efficient and took great care in keeping our home clean/dusted which was very much appreciated. Refinishing the floors in this house took four days and turned out wonderful. Paul aims to please and we would definitely call Great hardwood flooring in the future.

The owner Paul , kept in constant touch with me. (I was living out-of-town and they were doing the installation before I arrived, so it was important to have good communication.) He informed me every step of the way what was happening, and with flooring options, and when I arrived, I was extremely pleased with the excellent job that they did. I would highly recommend them.

It took a while to get a hold of him and then I was unable to get a mutual day that worked for the both of us.

I was in the market for repairing my flooring, it is an old building and the amount of noise that these things were causing, were unbearable. I had the opportunity to talk with Paul, after a friend referred me to his company. The service was great, and they were able to get the floors repaired quickly. The team was focused on getting the job done right, which was what I liked about them- they seemed serious about their work.

I called the provider after I purchased the deal and he said he would call me back. He called me back to tell me that he had a bad experience in my area and that he refused to come out and do the work. I feel really discriminated against, I've never had someone refuse my money because of my area. At the time, I am getting a refund for this deal.

I can't say enough about the experience we had with Great Hardwood Flooring Services and their owner. First, he spent over an hour with me discussing different finishes that were available. He is extremely knowledgeable and was respectful of my desire for a quality finish that wouldn't be damaged by my kids and dog that was also environmentally friendly (to be honest, I was mostly worried about the fumes). This was prior to having any contract in place, so I appreciated the expertise. Then, he worked within our tight time schedule to finish a huge job. The team provided us with a bunch of samples on the floor until we found a shade we liked. They did an impeccable job throughout the process...sanding, filling, staining, and finishing. The stairs and moldings were all done by hand and turned out beautifully. The floors are truly our favorite part of our house!! There was very little mess, which surprised me, but I think it is part of the system they used. The most impressive part of the process, however, was the owner's desire to make sure we were happy. He came back after the job was complete to touch up 2 very minor imperfections and noticed that the painter had since gotten paint on the floors in places. The owner then offered to come back and fix the painters mistakes if we were not able to remove the paint with Goof Off after the floors were cured. Very impressive customer service. His quote was, "you spent a lot of money on these floors and you should be happy." Wow. Needless to say, the Goof Off did the trick and the floors are perfect. I would HIGHLY recommend these guys, and already have to our neighbors. Great job!!

It was very beautiful work, very professional. Excellent woodwork and the finish is like glass.

The provider did not show up when the appointment was scheduled (through Angie's List) for 7/23/2014. I called the provider, and rescheduled for 7/30/2014. I sent a text message to the provider to remind him of the appointment on 7/29/2014. Despite that, the provider did not show up. Never again.

I purchased the "40% OFF! $1,499 for Hardwood Floor Installed - Labor and Materials Included" deal on 12/13/13 but by 12/16/13 I still hadn't heard from the company, so I called and spoke with Paul to find out what he needed from my end. I asked if we could have the floors installed at their earliest availability or by 1/27/14, due to us having other renovations planned. Paul said he would do it the first week of January, but I never heard back from him. I reached out to him on 1/6/14, but he didn't answer my call. I called in the morning and evening on 1/7/14 and finally made contact. Paul said he would call me the next day to schedule a time to take measurements. That was the last time I spoke with him, despite another reminder call and voicemail saying he could call me anytime.

They're honest and they have a good price.

The April 28th review written below is oddly similar to the job performed for me within the same time frame ? our job was completed on April 17th (it was a 2 week job) but we had a completely different experience. I waited a few weeks to submit a review because I have very mixed feelings on my experience with Great Hardwood Flooring. The floors have cured. They look great. But the actual experience was not so favorable. My job consisted of installing new hardwood floors in the kitchen and family room and refinishing the floors in the dining room, living room and entire second floor. Paul, the owner, gave me a fair price, he was able to just slightly beat a competitor?s price - what I didn?t know was the kind of service I?d be getting. In the two weeks that he worked on my job he very seldom came out to the job site and seemed out of touch with what was going on. On the first day, when his guys were demolishing the vinyl kitchen floor, they cut into several pieces of electrical conduit. When I called to ask him about it, he was surprised and not even aware of the issue because he hadn?t even visited the job site on the first day. He told me he would take care of it (which concerned me since he was not a licensed electrician) and he told me we needed to trust each other. How could I trust him after cutting into my electrical on the first day? The rest of the job I would stop in to check in on the progress since it didn?t seem like he really knew what was going on at the job site. I would ask his guys on the job site if Paul had shared the information I had shared with him and their answer was constantly ?no?. I would address some issues with Paul that day and he?d say ?I?ll be there tomorrow? and then wouldn?t show up. When the guys on site were refinishing floors they would miss closets (on the first floor and second) and I would have to send a message to Paul (via e-mail and text) sometimes twice to make sure it was addressed. Throughout the job I felt like a foreman on the project rather than a customer. The biggest issue in my experience with Great Hardwood Flooring is the lack of respect they showed toward my home. Paul had communicated to me there would be a lot of sawdust from the installation of the floors but not to worry about it because he (his team) would clean it up. I did expect to see some sawdust on the 1st floor but not much. The second floor where there was no demo-ing and because as they advertise they use dustless sanding system I was expecting to see a much cleaner environment. Dustless sanding only works when you actually use the dustless sander. When I came home the day before the job was scheduled to be done, there was mounds of dust in every room ?from top to bottom. If Angie?s List accepted photo uploads, I would upload my pictures so that people could see what I walked into. There was sawdust everywhere ? on the floors, windows, wall, doors, top of doors and worst of all lots of it in the air. I couldn?t understand why it was everywhere when they advertise dustless sanding. Later I found out they had forgot the dustless equipment and decided to march on anyway because they wanted to be done with the job the next day. This is not what I signed up for and this is what upsets me the most. They could have easily delayed the job so they could get the right equipment but instead they decided to march on and blow sawdust everywhere like ash from a volcano ? I?m not exaggerating it was really this bad. I sent Paul an e-mail that evening expressing all my agitation in working with him and his company and the next day in person he called me and my e-mail ?annoying?. As he tried to clean the home, he mocked me showing my dirt on the cloth he was using saying ?Is this sawdust?? Paul through his physical gestures did not look happy doing cleanup work. He even said that he had a deep cleaning service (that we would have to pay for) that does clean-up if I wanted to go that route. I didn?t want deep cleaning I wanted him and his crew to clean up after themselves and all the mess they created. Eventually they cleaned more than what they would have liked to but it was still not enough. A day after they left I had to run an industrial air purifier to clean the air from all the sawdust throughout the two-story home and had to clean out cabinets, the garage (it was pretty bad), the screened porch, and really the entire home due to the ?dustless sanding? they did not use. Additionally, his crew threw out all their cigarettes ashes and cigarette butts into a clearly marked ?Yard Only? trash which I had to dig and clean out with my hands. I did want to add that on the last day, Paul was? very punctual? in picking up his payment (for this he was on time) and was about to walk out without shaking my hand. When I saw this I offered my own hand to try to have it end on a better note by sticking my own hand - he grudgingly shook it and quickly left. Overall, yes my floors look nice. The quality of the actual work is good. But the respect shown towards me and my newly painted home (I forgot to mention that) left me with such a bad taste for this company. Professionalism is sorely lacking. I just can?t recommend them to other members based on my recent experience.

Our experience was top-notch. Paul was very responsive. He answered my initial call immediately, quickly completed the estimate and gave us a very fair price. He and his crew worked fast to finish the dustless sanding process and stained the floor with four small patches of different hues to allow us to confirm our original choice of colors. He kept us informed throughout the process and the results were very professional. Finally, he set us up with a cleaning service that went through the house on a Sunday morning, allowing us to move back in over the weekend without a hassle. I have no reservations in recommending this company to anyone.

I called them at the beginning of April and left a message requesting someone call me back for an estimate. A week later, after not hearing from them, I tried sending an email through their website. That was 4/14 and I still have not heard from them. I don't care how many rave reviews they have received, I will not be using them. Extremely unprofessional.

The fact that the floor installed was a work of art in itself is a whole different story. It was absolutely wonderful to return home to not only a transformed space but a dustless, fresh, sparkling clean home. Upon my prior experience with post construction cleaning I learned that it not only takes days to complete but is but is also most effective when done by a team of people versus a couple of very busy people. I am positive that the dustless sending technique used by the company eliminated some of the dust particles, but regardless their work is very thorough and detailed. To my surprise the crew carried in and arranged all of our furniture, décor items and remaining belongings to their original placement. Nothing was damaged or scraped in the process and considering the fact that many of the items were large and heavy was a tremendous relief. The crew even asked upon my arrival whether I wish for any of the items to be placed in a different position or in a different location. These guys are organized and dedicated to quality service. I could not be more pleased with the final result. I not only have high quality, gorgeous floors but was provided with no hassle service at a very competitive price. I feel confident in referring this company to anyone looking for a great service.

Wow, the whole quoting experience alone just left me puzzled. It took a few tries to get a response on Angie's List for the quote request. When a representative did show up he took a sample of wood, pried up a piece of loose wood and said he'd get back to me with a quote. That was over two weeks ago....

Not sure why service providers offer big deals if they have no intention of honoring them. Probably just hoping you don't request a refund.

Amazing!! Paul and his crew is were quick and efficient. I was very impressed and would highly reccommend them!!

I paid for it, but did not list possible dates as it seemed I would need someone from the provider to see what was involved in the job, and to talk with me about moving furniture and any other prep. I called several times with no luck, finally reached someone who said that he was in his truck, they were very busy , they would get back to me later. But they did not. Barb at Angie's list was most helpful (incident #140131-001430), & I'm still a fan of Angie's list, but if don't want to deal with a provider that is so uninterested in their customers.

This is the first review I have ever left for someone.... It's been installed just over a year now and we love it as much as the day it was finished. He is an honorable business man with fair prices, attention to detail and he answers his phone! I was on a tight budget for this project and Paul and his crew exceeded my expectations.

Paul is very responsive from the start of the quote to the end of the job. His team did a great job, floors look stunning. They know how to do it right. They are also priced very reasonably. We have a future project planned with Paul and team in the spring.

Paul and his team arrived at the condo right on time (without me being there) and finished the job in 2.5 days. He coordinated well wtih the condo management regarding use of the loading dock and freight elevators so it all went very smoothly. The only minor issue was a lapse in communication re filling out and returning the condo authorization form but Paul gave me $150 off the price to compensate. Other than than he was very responsive by phone, e-mail or text. He used dustless sanders and brought in a cleaning crew to completely clean up afterward. The floor turned out perfectly. His price was very reasonable compared with 2 other bids I received for the work. I am very satisfied and would definitely recommend him to others.

Provider cancelled the appointment due to their reasons and promised to call back, but never did. Provider indicated there is a minimum of $2,000 project requirement while my requirement is less then that.

My floors look amazing. Paul and his crew did a great job refinishing my hardwood floors. I had purchased a deal 300 sq ft for $499 not including stain. I chose to have the floors stained and was given a very good price. They took the time to go over the different colors and I love the end result. I highly recommend Great Hardwood Flooring Services. Thank you Paul, Tom and Carl. You guys are the best!

I was tired of my carpet and on stairs and in our upstairs bedrooms, and I wanted hardwood floors instead, now that we have a dog and two children since the carpet was installed 7 years ago. I called Paul for an estimate and said that I needed hardwood floor installation. He came to do the estimate, and asked if he could peel up the carpet in a few locations. He had a hunch that there might be existing hardwood floors underneath the carpet and he was right. (Something I did not know!) Carpet on 11 steps and three small bedrooms plus a small hall was pulled up and removed. Then the floors underneath were refinished. They turned out beautifully and will be so much easier to clean. My husband and I did most of the prep of moving furniture from the rooms, but what we couldn't move ourselves was no problem. Paul had explained that there would be an hourly rate for an labor of that kind. That made it easy in that we could do as much prep as we wanted and leave the rest for them. The job was completed in three days, and I am so happy that I called Paul.

Paul and his guys were great. I've been renovating my new condo, and it was time to install the new engineered hardwood flooring I had purchased. Since I was installing on a concrete pad with an underlayment, my approach to installation was limited (without spending more money to install sub-floors). The best install approach I had found was to float it, and glue the edges for stability. I had talked to a couple of other companies about the installation, but they didn't seem to fully understand how to install it since it wasn't click-lock floors. I was very concerned that I had more knowledge on this type of flooring from 15 minutes on the internet than they had from their years of experience. They each had their own suggestions for installation which would make the price continue to rise. I knew I needed to find someone who knew how to install the floors I had, and not return them to buy different ones as was suggested by an early contractor. When I called Paul, he knew exactly what I was talking about. He had done this type of installation before, and was right in sync with what I was looking for. He met me at my place the next day to take a look and give me a quote. I was very happy with his level of confidence, and hired him for the installation. The estimate was 2-1/2 days to install, but they got it done in 1-1/2. They came in and got straight to work. My new floors look great. Thanks, Paul, for doing such a great job!
