The owner was very responsive to our calls and questions from the start. He made every effort to accommodate our schedule and performed the work very soon after our initial contact. The workers (including the owner, who was there to help do the job) arrived right on time. They did a great job keeping the dust to a minimum (there was hardly any!) and protected the other areas of the house. They worked meticulously sanding, filling gaps and finally applying the top coats to the floors. The floors look great!

GHFS stated the job would take approximately 4 days, with all of the other work that I was doing (painting, moving in, etc) we needed to have GHFS job to be complete as promised. They completed the job in 3.5 days, only a half day early but at least they were not late and I did not have to push my other jobs back. It was a pleasant surprise to have a contractor complete the job when they say would! The level of detail GHFS provided was like if I (the homeowner) was doing the job myself. (hand scraping corners, stair rails, ensuring wood heat registers were level with floor, etc). They were very prompt, started when they said they would at 9am. The dustless sanding was a very nice feature, they cleaned up after themselves every night which you would think is normal but for some of the contractors in other trades that I hired they did not do so therefore I am thankful for GHFS. They were very patient on creating custom color stain for us, initially they stated they would provide 3 different colors but they ended up doing a few more until we were completely satisfied which we really appreciated. We have hired 5 different trades from Angie?s list within the last 6 months. All companies had high customer reviews but they were average in my opinion with the exception of Great Hardwood Flooring Service, I know I may sound like a person that was hired on an infomercial but as crazy as it is I am just very pleased with a contractor that delivered on what they promised and treated the job as if it was your own house. Now it?s time to blast the other contractors that I hired that under performed ; )

Paul failed to inform us what of to expect when he refinished our older HW floors. He used filler in the spaces between boards which, as we later found, is not recommended for floors with a lot of movement. We were left with the filler popping out of the spaces everywhere and taking the varnish with it within a week of finishing. Paul was unprofessional when we pointed this out to him stating, ?no one has ever complained about this before?. The only remedy he suggested was to come in and gouge out the filler with a knife and re-varnish, which he promised would make the floors look 100% worse. We were and are extremely dismayed. This is in no way satisfactory, nor is it what we expected going in. Since there was a balance due, we suggested that the best way to deal with the problem would be to cancel the bill, as there is now no way to fix the floor. We would have considered this a professional approach, and would have reviewed Paul as having handled the situation professionally. We also gave him the option of accepting half of the balance due, with the understanding that if he did so, we would submit the above review. Paul was very pleasant to work with until problems arose, and we are now stuck with a problem that can't be fixed, and we'll "have to live with it".

Wow, what an experience.... I called a number of hardwood flooring installers from Angie's list to get an estimate on the installation of hardwood flooring. After five estimates, Great Hardwood flooring gave me the best estimate. Peter from Great Hardwood flooring asked me to send him picures of the area I wanted changed because it would be easier for him. I sent four pictures of the flooring(with carpet, carpet pulled back, front end and back end pics). He called me and said it would cost $1,050. I said okay and I would be using the Angie's list coupon of 10% off any jobs over $1,000 and he said okay. He called me back 10 minutes later and said he missed calculated the cost and it would cost $1,150. I was a little hesitant, but said okay. I asked when can he come out and he had to call me back. I did not hear back - so I texed and asked, "when can you come?" He texted me back and said Friday, I asked if he could come Tuesday, I did not hear back from Peter - so I started my search again. He called at the end of the day and said he could only come complete the work on Friday. I said okay, he said he would send me an invoice. Friday moring he called and asked for the address and said he would send the workers first and he would arrive two hours later. The workers came (two wonderfully pleasant men) removed the carpart and prepped the floors. Peter arrived later and said - you know this is going to cost you $1,800 dollars. I could only think, W** - I asked how did that happen. He explained that the floors are sweaky and would need subflooring. I told Pete that's way over my budget and any other estimates I recieved. I told him - I would have to wait on this service. He explained that the guys started the work. I told him its a 50% jump over the estimate and I want to know how could he be so far off. He said I only sent two pics and I told him I sent four. He said its not in his phone. He pulled out the phone and we looked and there were four images. He said it was because of materials and addtional work. He said I could give me a check for $300 and he would cash it later. I asked if I could buy the materials and he agree to bring it down to $1,500. The workers finished the work and reused the quarter rounds that Peter said he would install. I gave Peter a credit card with the Angie's list 10% coupon. He said I could not use the coupon and I asked why. He said you have to buy the 10% coupon in advance. Again, I said to myself W**. I told Peter the only thing you can buy on Angie's list is a "Great Deal." He said no, you need to buy the 10% coupon. By then I had enough - I told him I have a coupon and credit card. Peter said that's not fair that you are using a credit card its going to cost him money. Oh my gosh, what did I get myself into? I gave Peter a check for $1,350 ($1,500 less 10%). I did not take 10% off for the $200 in materials I purchased from Lowes. The workers did a nice job with the flooring. He sent my an invoice after the work was completed. On Sunday, when I went to use my washer the outlet didn't work. Peter's workers hooked up the sander to the circuit box and now the power outlet does work by the circuit box. Wow, now I need to hire an electrician - what an expensive lesson!

After requesting an estimate, I received a call from Paul right away. I was impressed with his quick response and thinking that he would be reliable. I was so wrong. He first said that he would come to my house at 9:00AM today. When I asked him if he could come earlier since I had to go to work, he said he could come at 8:30AM. I waited until 9:15AM. No show. No call. He totally wasted my time.

I looked at 5 different flooring companies and had them all over to the townhouse I recently bought. The service included ripping up carpet on one floor and 2 stairwells and replacing with hardwoods, and refinishing 2 floors and one stairwell of existing hardwoods. It was a big job and the estimates were all over the map. Paul's was spot on for my budget as well as the reviews off of Angie's list. Time took about a week and a half, and these 3 guys worked their tails off. The end result is beautiful, ebony flooring that matches throughout the house. I'm so happy with the decision and its result. I plan on getting Paul some more business as him and his team couldn't' be better.

We made the choice to work with him because of his ability to find a solution to match our needs and budget while using skilled labor and industry standard products. No subs and bargain supplies!!! We met with 4 other contractors including three that are "A" rated with Angies List. Of course pricing in this industry is somewhat standardized but Paul provides transparency of costs to allow you to better understand all options of fit and finish. This helped to establish trust in the value I was seeking. Paul and his team were extremely professional and courteous. Consistently making us aware of any change in daily plans and always leaving the job site clean and safe for our 4 children to be around. He really enjoys what he does and possess a genuine desire to earn your satisfaction! I would with out a doubt recommend him to anyone!!!

We would 100% recommend GHFS to anyone looking to refinish their hardwoods. We're thrilled with how they turned out and very much appreciate the long nights Paul's crew worked through in order for us to move in to our new home on time. Price was VERY reasonable considering how much work needed to be completed, too.

The team showed up a day late (one of the crew members was sick). Paul and his team showed up, performed the work as planned. The only thing I really appreciate about Paul's crew is how neat and clean they try to keep things.

A family member had already priced a job against several vendors and said Paul had the best price and she liked him a lot; however, they did not end up moving forward with their own project. When it was my turn, I went straight to him and his price was fantastic for what seemed to me to be a big project. ~$4500 to tear out some pretty heavy duty floors in a large kitchen, a hallway and a dining room and replace them all with wood. We booked him in advance to do the work while we were on vacation. He seems to be sort of a one man show, although of course he had help for the actual project. For this reason, it was a little hit or miss in terms of appointments beforehand (say, to look at stains). We'd pencil something in and he'd get caught up at another work site and have to reschedule. It was clear that this was because he was a hard worker and so I didn't mind that. When it came time for the project itself, he was totally on it. Long and short, they did a great job and it was waiting for us when we got back. We ended up upgrading a few things which upped the price, but absolutely fairly. Refinished another room and had it stained to match the new floors. Upgraded to a wider plank and to hickory. To be honest, I was afraid I was going to get an email during the job saying they had underestimated the difficulty of it (the old floors were something) - but I never did. Anyway - you have your different sorts of vendors who cater to different classes (?) of client? Paul is that guy who if you want a solid job for a great price, go to him. He does good work and has absolute integrity. If you want to pay a premium for extra bells and whistles, I'm sure you can :) We are entirely satisfied.

We received three separate bids from three different Angie's list companies for this work. It was a bit complicated since it involved the removal of most, but not all of the flooring, damaged by a major water heater leak. We also had to purchase the flooring from the original online supplier to assure a good match and have the floor blended with a portion of the original floor. Paul at Great Flooring Service won the bid based on his very accurate and detailed proposal, stressing the need for us to run dehumidifiers in the space after the removal of the flooring to assure no issues with warping/buckling after the new floor was installed. Although his price for the work wasn't the cheapest, it was obvious to us that he would do the best work possible and that is what we ultimately wanted out of the project. The removal of the flooring went very well, with very little to no damage to walls, etc... After the removal, Paul gave us a moisture meter to use to check the moisture levels in the concrete slap periodically while the dehumidifiers ran non-stop over the course of several weeks. Paul was adamant that work would not start on laying the new flooring until the levels reached a satisfactory level. Finally, our levels were determined to be low enough to begin the work. Paul the owner and his assistant Carl truly did an amazing job with the final job. The floor looks even better than the original and there is no bad chemical smells, since he used a non-VOC glue for the install. Overall, the experience went extremely well. While it was frustrating to have to wait for our new floor to be installed, we were appreciative of Paul for his professionalism and, instead of just wanting to 'crank-out' the job so he could receive his final monies, he was patient and wanted only the best outcome. We would recommend (and already have) his services to friends and family and if we ever have another flooring issue in our home, we will give Paul a call again!

I was extremely pleased with Paul's professionalism and the end result. My floors do look brand new and have really made my whole condo look new again. The security person in my condo building commented on the company's professionalism and she is not an easy person to please at all! I hghly recommend hiring this company to re-finish your hardwood floors.

Mr. Borak and wife Monica were pleasant but we have not received a bid as was promised.

Paul/Pavel was wonderful. He was so professional from start to finish. He gave an extremely fair price quote at no charge for first visit to my home. I didn't have to wait a long time to schedule. He and his partner showed up on-time at time of services to be provided. Approximately 2500 sf of wood flooring was sanded, cleaned and resurface coated within 1 full day. Paul's personality was calm and explanations of the work to be done were articulate. I'd recommend him to anyone looking to renew their wood floors.

The representative from this company came to our house on April 22 and seemed professional and interested in the job. He said he would email a detailed estimate by Tuesday, April 24. By April 27 we still didn't receive it so I emailed him asking him to resend the estimate. He said he would. Again, nothing. I sent a second email and he said that his email system keeps sending it to "preview" (whatever that is), and that he'd email it manually that day (April 28). On April 30 I emailed him again, and suggested that he just mail it to us using the postal service. He said he would. Today is May 7, and we have not received any estimate. I don't know why he would come to our house, be professional, discuss flooring, then not send an estimate. This is unprofessional and we won't be hiring this unreliable company. (If they can't even get us an estimate, how reliable will they be ordering and installing new hardwood floors?

They were on time they did the floors and came back to complete a couple of days later. The finished floor was not acceptable to Paul and he came back and redid the top finish so that it was smooth. There was one spot missed in the redo and he came back out again to fix that spot. He was very professional and courteous to my floor concerns and did not stop until I was completely satisfied. I appreciate that sort of detail to a great job.

I started not knowing which direction I wanted to take with the space we had just moved into. I interviewed many flooring guys and most of them wanted me to tell them what to do or they wanted me to just "trust them" with a decision. Paul worked with me, educating me on the different options and helped choose my flooring type, color and finish. He started and finished on time and followed thru on everything he said he would do. His workers were very pleasant to deal with. He was on site for more than 90% of the job so if I had a concern I was able to talk directly to the boss.

Great Flooring removed and hauled away the carpeting and then skillfully removed and replaced damaged boards, patched holes, sanded, stained, and applied four coats of satin finish on the floors. The before and after pictures they took of our floor show the dramatic improvement. The 2nd floor rooms had an uneven transition between the rooms which Paul corrected at no extra charge. Paul Zelazny of Great Flooring and his team are courteous, punctual, hardworking professionals. We were very pleased with their work and the total cost for six rooms of repair, sanding and resurfacing. We had now engaged them to do anther project to refinish oak stairs, windows, doors and surrounding woodwork.

Amazing. House looks new. Very quality work. But here is the real value, Paul was the msot responsive guy I have ever dealt with. My wife and I had changed what we wanted to do litteraly every day. We kept calling and emailing Paul on making this change, or removing this on the quote etc., and Paul always got back to us. (originally he was going to remove tile, and apply a new sub-floor, and new hard wood). We had contacted Paul so many times I thought he would refuse to do business with us. He was ALWAYS responsive. Phone or email he would get back to us within 24 hours. Very fair in his quotes. Shows up on time, and was clean and did a great job. I highly recommend him. My neighbors saw our floor and heard of our experience and they are having Paul do work for them now.
