"Thank you for your review. We appreciate your having us out to go over your plumbing needs, and am glad that you found us helpful! We hope that we can be of service to you in the future."
The only ding I would say is that Mike has been busy transitioning to a new building location which resulted in less than responsive emails/phone calls. We did eventually connect and it never got to a point of personal irritation.
Day of the repair not only was I welcomed by Mike and Develle but another team of guys who work on water and sewage. Originally this was a big job that was about opening up a new water service, after careful inspection it was a leak before the main cut-off knob. After a few hours of works it was new, using high quality parts.
I'm pleased and thrilled. I have no concern about the leak returning. These guys did it right! If anything should happen I'm happy I have a 2 year warranty with Goode.
"Thank you very much for this review. It is truly appreciated. The client called originally because he had a leak in his water service somewhere between the parkway and where the service entered the home. The only section of service visible was too small and of poor material which would not pass inspection. We told the customer that we would try to replace that section in hopes of finding a proper section nearby, but that he should plan on a complete new service-a fairly expensive job. The day we started, upon some more investigating, we came across some complications that would make this job even more involved. However, we went with our original goal of attempting to do the smaller repair, and were able to find a proper section to connect some new piping onto. We were therefore able to get him improved water service and stop the leak with some minor excavation with the basement, which we patched up after completing the repair. Because our original scope was to hope for the best, but plan for the worst, we had another company that we work with on occasion for larger projects ready to help with excavation and connections, and they stayed and helped us complete this repair, so everything was completed in less than a full day. I am very happy that everything worked out with the smaller repair. Also appreciated was this Members patience-as he mentioned, we were in the midst of relocating our shop and I was a little slower than normal at returning emails. We are all moved in as of this weekend, and appreciate the patience, work, and this review."
"Thank you for this report, Member. Our plumber, Bob, took care of this job. Leaks from one unit to another can be tricky to determine, especially if no walls or ceilings are open. If there is no real damage from the water, we will typically try our best to not incur damage by opening anything up unless truly necessary. In this case, we looked for more obvious causes, such as the caulking as mentioned. After this turned out to not be the issue, we returned and did some more investigating, and found another issue, which we were able to repair."
"Thank you, Member. We appreciate the work and this report. We do service and installations on quite a few tankless water heaters (as well as other types), and it turned out that a replacement in this case was needed. The unit we installed was a Rinnai brand water heater, which has proven to be very reliable. We use our own mounting board, and properly size the gas supply. Sizing of gas supply for the tankless water heaters is critical-and something we see done incorrectly far too often. Thank you for rewarding us with this project."
"Thank you for the review. We have done other work for this Member in the past. Our goal is to establish a relationship with each client. We appreciate your continued trust in us."
expecting to receive a call-back on Monday, but the owner called me
Sunday night. We settled on a date for Goode to visit my apartment, and
they were right on time. The service was excellent, and they taught me
know to prevent future problems.
Highly, highly recommended.
"I appreciate your review as well as the service call very much! While our standard hours are Monday-Friday, we do our best to take care of our clients on Saturdays as well as emergency situations whenever possible. I am glad that you are happy with our service. We do recommend water heater maintenance every year or two, depending upon where you live, to ensure a long, efficient life this very important appliance. the anode rod you mentioned is an often overlooked, but very important part of this maintenance."
When the faucet finally did start leaking, I called Goode Plumbing because their website said they are experienced working with vintage fixtures. I called them on a Monday and they said they could be there that Thursday. The plumber who came seemed very knowledgable and was able to remove the faucet stems. He obtained replacement stems and installed them, fixing the leak. But that night, the hot water faucet handle came loose, making the faucet unusable. I called in the next morning and Michael, the owner, came out later that day (Friday). He tightened the faucet handle, but said that I really needed new handles, since the old ones were corroded and would probably come loose again. He was able to obtain a set of new handles and installed them the following Monday.
Bottom line: The repair took a bit longer than I had hoped, but I think that is understandable given the age and condition of the faucet. The repaired faucet looks and works fine, and I didn't have to replace the whole sink! I am happy with Goode Plumbing's service, and will call them the next time I need plumbing work done.
"Thank you for your report. I like working on the older fixtures. I see them repaired incorrectly all too often. When rebuilt properly, many of these faucets and fixtures will give many more years of service. Parts are not always available at every supply house, but we do have sources for rare parts-it just requires a little more time and looking around. The supply house that Bob, the initial plumber, went to for the stem assemblies, did not have handles. After the original set did not hold up to the rebuild, I was able to locate a set of brand new, correct handles and replaced them for this Member."
It rained alot that day, and without prompting Develle put some covers on his shoes which was very thoughtful of him.
We did not print out our Angie's List coupons, but I was able to email Mike and he still provided the discount. Would recommend them to anyone
"Thank you very much for the service call and for taking the time to review us here. Glad we were able to repair your toilet-the part we installed has a two year parts and labor warranty from us, double the length of time you will most often see."
"Thank you very much for the work. This was in a high rise-many of which require specific insurance and licensing requirements. This one was particularly specific, which took a little time to get through, but worked out well. We appreciate the fact the the building protects its residents by doing its best to make sure they use quality contractors such as little old us! Thank you again for the work and this review."
"Thank you very much for the work as well as this report. We installed a new faucet as supplied by the owner. We also replaced a section of water supply piping to replace a deteriorated section that was leaking. I know that there are a lot of plumbing companies to choose from, and we appreciate your rewarding us with your work based on our quality and customer service!"
Thanks Mike G!
"Thank you for the work as well as the review. As this client has stated, we could have most likely repaired his water heater by installing a new dip tube and doing some maintenance. However, because of the age of the water heater and the fact that it had not been serviced in it's life, I felt that this would be money not well spent. We decided on a new water heater, which we installed using our full port drain valve and brass water supply connections for superior protection against corrosion. I also added a water heater safety pan and modified a drain to accept a drain pipe from it-this water heater was on the top floor of a condominium building, and the previous water heater had no pan under it. We appreciate the work and this report and am confident that this unit will give this Member many years of service."
estimate over the phone that was far below the others we received. Once
the work was done, the charge ended up being even less than what they
had estimated. The gentleman who came to our house to repair a leaking
toilet was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. I would
definitely call them first for any future plumbing work!
"Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review. We appreciate the service call. While we are not typically able to price things over the phone, as every job is a little different and it is hard to predict what we will find once we get to a job, I am glad that you were happy with our pricing as well as our work."
"Thank you for having me over and for taking the time to submit a review to Angie's List. This member had a slightly low water pressure condition at two showers. I cleaned the shower heads out, which helped. I also recommended adding a pressure booster pump since the bathrooms in question were on a third floor."
"Hello Member, thank you for the work that you rewarded us with. Regarding our pricing, our rates are very competitive given the quality of our work.I cannot promise to be the least expensive company in town, as our standards do not allow for that, but I can assure you great value for the quality you will receive from us. Estimates can vary from company to company depending on what the extent of the work is. Some companies do the bare minimum. Others may do more than is needed. We do our very best to give you an accurate assessment of what is truly needed to do a certain job properly and so that the repair lasts for many years. Since your water heater was, if memory serves, several years old, if you recall, we included not only repiping things so that it was done properly-using brass parts rather than the much more common dielectric unions for superior protection against corrosion, but complete maintenance as well. With us, complete maintenance is really complete-not a simple drain and refill. We install our full port drain valve, flush the tank, inspect several parts on the water heater including the often ignored anode rod. Same thing with a faucet repair-some companies will simply replace a washer, and while that will usually take care of a drip for a little while, we recommend replacing the complete stem or cartridge if a faucet is a certain age, so that the drip is taken care of for years-and we can back it up with a warranty. I am sorry that you were not happy with our pricing, but I really do believe that if someone came in substantially less, and is a licensed plumbing contractor, then there was most likely less work done. I would be happy to come out at no charge to go over the work that was performed and give you my honest opinion. I can be reached on my cell phone at (773) 407-1884. Thank you, Mike Goode"
"Thank you for the service call and for the review. It is truly appreciated. We do try to keep a good variety of toilet parts on our trucks, but even we have to run for items sometimes! Thank you for your patience in waiting for us to arrive-we are as accurate as possible, but sometimes a job takes a bit more, or less, than we estimate. Again, thank you for the work."
"Thank you for the review. We appreciate this and the service call. We keep well stocked trucks, but with the huge variety of toilets on the market, sometimes we come across an item we have to travel to a supply house to obtain, such was the case here."
We explained the situation to Mike and he fully understood. Our realtor provided keys for Mike to provide a cost estimate. This was done only days after we called him. Mike provided a thorough explanation of the work required as well as options based on budget. We knew his cost estimate was on the mark as we had other bids. We eventually hired Mike to complete the job. Again, the work was completed only days after we contacted him. Keep in mind, we had never met face-to-face given geography. The work passed inspection.
We were extremely fortunate to find Mike given our situation. Thorough, honest, responsive - and wasn't even overly concerned about timing of payment ! For those who are looking for a great plumber or have been burned with a previous plumber, do yourselves a favor and call Goode Plumbing.
"Hello and thank you for the review. As the owner of rental property in Arizona, I know how nerve racking trying to hire someone out of state to work on your home or property can be. All of us at Goode Plumbing take a lot of pride in doing the job properly and being up front and honest about what needs to be done. We have quite a few out of town clients and do not mind working in this manner. I do have to be honest in saying that we aren't exactly unconcerned about payment timing, but will do our best to work with customers. In this case, the customer mailed a check quickly and we certainly appreciate that very much, as well as the work and this review."
"Thank you for the work and the review. I am glad that we were able to get your tub draining properly. Regarding the leak, as it turns out someone in the home's past installed the improper trap which came loose. We came back and resealed the trap, but as advised, it should be replaced with the correct trap at some point to avoid issues in the future."
"Thank you for the service call! I am glad that you were pleased with us. Ernie has been with us for a very long time and really does take a lot of pride in his work."
"Thank you very much for the work and this report. One of our plumbers, Develle, and our assistant, Dan, completed replacement of galvanized water supply with copper. We use heavy duty, Type L copper for our water supply installations above ground-this is thicker walled than Type M which we come across often. We use type L for superior temperature insulation and retention, and quality. We hope you will enjoy improved water pressure and leak free plumbing for many, many years."
"Thank you very much for the work and the review. We appreciate the business, and I am glad that Bob was able to get things taken care of properly for you."
Goode plumbing showed up on time and completed the job as promised despite having to deal with rainy weather and slow service from the city inspectors. The crew was professional and cleaned up after themselves. They had to remove part of the front walk way in order to get to the sewer line and re-paved in when they were done. Although we have not received the rains this summer as in the past so I cannot tell for sure that the valve is working, I believe that Mike and his crew's valve will work as promised when the heavy rains come, and they will. Mike was very professional and honored the 10% off plumbing services coupon on Angie's List which saved me some money. I would definitely recommend Mike and his company to anyone who needs plumbing service.
"Thank you very much for this review. We appreciate the work very much. I am very confident in our flood control systems. We build each one to a very high standard, using only excellent quality materials. We have some features that we include that help us stand apart from the norm to protect your home, such as separate clean outs for rodding, an extra deep pump basin for longer pump life, a separate pump discharge fitting to better direct the pumped water and keep it debris from obstructing the back water valves, a heavy duty cover to prevent tampering, and more. While it is true we haven't had the heavy rains we have in the past this summer, your home is protected for when we do get them. Thank you for your business."
"Thank you for the service call. We were able to remove the obstruction from this owner's kitchen sink using a drain cleaning machine. We appreciate your business and your taking the time to review us on Angie's List."
Thanks again.Mike in Skokie
"Thank you, Member! While I was sorry to hear about the rodding machine cable becoming stuck, and of the other issues, I am glad that we were able to get your situation fixed. We all have our areas of expertise-customers will sometimes ask if I do tile, and I always tell them, " I can do tile but you will know that a plumber did your tile", and refer them to a professional in that area. The plumber , Ernie, who completed this work for you is very patient and knowledgeable with flood control systems such as the one this home had. We appreciate the work and your review."
He was able to come in the next day to take a look at the water heater. When he arrived, I walked him through what I was seeing from my low water pressure to the brown murky hot water that I was getting. I then took him to the unit, he looked it over and gave me his assessment. Just as I suspected, my 12 year old water heater was dying, and in the process was messing up my water pressure. Mike walked me through everything he thought could be wrong, showed me the debris in some of the flow valves that supported his claims and walked me through what the process would be. He gave me the estimate, talked to me about the water heater that would be installed and walked me through how he would blow out the plumbing to get that water pressure back up to speed. He was very nice and thorough and I was glad to be giving my business to him.
When I decided to go through with the work, I was under a bit of a time constraint. Mike was very understanding and agreed to work me in if possible. He needed to check his schedule to see if he could do it but would let me know. As it turned out, he was able to fit me in during the afternoon on a Thursday, which was only a few days after the assessment. He and his brother showed up on Thursday and were ready to get to work. They brought in the water heater (which is no small task with my stairs), installed it, carted away the old one, added a drip pan, flushed out my pipes, re-worked the exhaust venting, and re-piped as needed. It took them a little longer than anticipated, but they stuck it out until the job was finished that evening. Then, Mike walked me through everything that had been done and even showed me the grand finale: completely increased water pressure. His work had taken my shower and faucets from anemic annoying dripping wastes to full blast cleaning machines. The water heater is efficient, works well, and is a great addition. They also cleaned up everything and even relocated a shelf for me.
With all of the time, energy, and dedication that Mike put into this water heater and their commitment to giving you the best price they can, I feel at ease knowing this one will last for quite some time. I couldn't have gotten a better plumber to do the work and am glad I called Goode. Mike even thanked me for the work! I've had experiences in the past where this was not the case, and he was genuinely appreciative. With as busy as they are, this is a great thing. I will use them going forward for all of my plumbing needs.
"Thank you, Member. We appreciate the work very much. We installed a Bradford White power vented water heater for this client, and added a drain pan underneath which is piped to a proper drain. The quality of this water heater is very high, but being on the very top floor of this condominium, I felt it was best to put this in place-and was a little surprised there wasn't one with the previous water heater. There were indeed a lot of tight stairs to navigate-there is an old Eddie Cochran song called Twenty Flight Rock that comes to mind-but we were able to get it up there and the old one out without incident. There was a lot of sediment from the old water heater that clogged many of the faucets up, so we cleaned those out to restore the pressure as well. Speaking of this issue, I should mention that with every water heater we install, we replace the factory drain valve with our own-the opening in ours is about 4 times as large, permitting more complete sediment removal during maintenance time, which should be performed every two years in Chicago."
