Was rocky in the beginning but the owner ensured that everything is done properly. I would definitely recommend this company as the management is dedicated to the business and their customers.
Description of Work: Even though one of the plumbers was unable to do the job, the owner of the company came out and finished it on his behalf. He didn't charge for the service at all.

Thank you for your review, Member. One of my plumbers, who typically does a great job, went out to this client. There was an issue with one of the services he provided for this homeowner. The homeowner was kind enough to allow me to come out and see the problem at hand. I was able to correct the issue and did not feel he should be charged as there was some inconvenience caused to him and his family by having to have us out a second time. We are a small shop, with plumbers who take a lot of pride in their work and delivering the best customer service possible. As humans, sometimes-rarely-things to do not go as well as we would like them to. In these cases, I feel it is very important to make things right. My goal is 100 percent customer satisfaction. I treat our customers like I would like to be treated by a service provider. I am very glad that this worked out well, and hope we can be of service to this Member in the future.

Thank you, Member, for your review. The work that we completed for this client was removing a drum trap cover, removing an obstruction from the bath tub drain line, and installing a new drum trap cover. I am glad that you were happy with our service, although I wasn't sure if you were completely happy with our pricing-but I promise, the cost was very fair given the work performed. I appreciate the work and your kindly taking the time to write a review of us on Angies List.

This was the first contractor we have used through Angie's List. This was the best experience we have had with a plumber. He showed up on time, covered his shoes, took some extra maintenance steps to clean out the pipes, showed me the condition of the parts, finished the repair, and reviewed what we should expect in the future to maintain the faucet.

Before our washer and dryer could be installed in our newly purchased gut rehab, we needed a shut off valve on the gas line to the dryer and confirmation that the draine for our washer was operational. Goode had a cancellation the day that I called, so they were able to send Develle out right away. He was amazing! He understood exactly what we needed, worked efficiently, and best of all, he explained everything and patiently answered all of my questions. Not only, will I use Goode in the future if we need plumbing work, but I'll ask for Develle!

We suffered long wait for plumber to show up. We have to call three times to get estimated time of his arrival. He was 2 hour late and after he arrived he made big fuss about no parking available at Condo. I moved my car so that he can park. Also when we call office to set up appointment no one told us that we have to print out coupon. We end up calling office again to convince plumber to accept coupon. Total work was done in less than hour but charges were $ 370 minus $ 60 Angies list coupon = $ 310... The work done was to change dishwasher drain from air gap to disposer outlet and cap off. They charged $ 248 to rod drain which seems significant high. I will not use them again
Description of Work: I called this plumbing company to check why water was backing up from dishwasher into sink. They came and quickly concluded that we need to remove drain connection from dishwasher to air gap and rod the drain. They changed drain and rod drain to remove clog.

Member, I am very sorry that you were not happy with your experience with us, and want you to know that I would truly appreciate another chance to be of service to you. I will be trying to contact you tomorrow to see what I can do to make this experience up to you. I will also speak to my dispatcher and to the plumber that handled your call. I take our customer service very seriously. I do apologize for running behind. We do our best to estimate a time for our customers, but unfortunately, sometimes a job that we had earlier may end up being more involved and can take a little longer (once in a while they go more quickly!). Since our policy is to take one job at a time, and stay until a repair is done properly, this did effect your time window, and again, I do apologize. We value everyone's time and try to avoid making anyone wait around. My dispatcher is normally very good about letting our customers know a time status update, so I will find out why you had to call us rather than the other way around. If this is the case, it certainly is not how we usually operate! Regarding parking, we face this challenge every day, so there is no reason my technician should have complained about it to you. We ask our technicians to ask our customers if there is any parking available (to avoid being ticketed, towed, or blocking anyone), but if it was said in any inappropriate manner, I am extremely sorry. In terms of price, I can say that honestly, our prices are very competitive. I do not think there were any quality issues-and I will be up front in saying that a licensed plumber who does good, quality work, is not going to come inexpensively. If you were to compare our rates to our competitors, however, I know that you would find us quite reasonable. However, I ask that if there is ever an issue with pricing, that you ask the plumbing technician to call me so that I can try to explain things or, in many cases, try to work with you. We want our customers happy. It is something I take very seriously. My goal is a long term relationship with our customers. We just serviced the very first customer we had, in fact! I do hope that you will accept my apology, and let me see if I can do something to gain your confidence in us. Thank you, Mike Goode

Overall it went very well. It took the plumber about 2 hours to do the work. Considering I provided all the materials, the wall was openned up, and all that was required was soldering fittings, it seemed that $400 was fairly steep. That's about $200/hr for essentially just labor. That might just be the going rate for plumbers in Chicago. But, I was just happy the work was done and that I feel confident I will not expect any leaks.
Description of Work: Removal of existing tub/shower valve. The new valve I already had installed, the plumber soldered the water lines to the new valve and installed the drops to tub and shower. I provided all the materials, valve, 3/4" pipe and all the fittings.

Thank you very much for allowing us into your home to install the shower valve. I am glad that you are happy with our work, and am confident as are you that the work will be reliable for many years to come. I am sorry that you felt the price was a little steep. I will always be up front in saying that we are not the rock bottom lowest priced plumber in the city-our standards for quality and customer service do not allow that. However, I know that if you were to shop us against our real competition, you will find us to be an excellent value. We do not have an hourly rate. We give an up front price whenever possible so that you know the price going into it. The reason we do not have an hourly rate is to protect you-the customer. By doing this, you do not need to worry if we are taking a little longer than anticipated to get the job done right. Of course, if there is ever a problem, question, issue, etc, with anything that you have experienced with us, I ask that you call me on (773) 407-1884 so that I can go over things and explain it to you, remedy an issue, or whatever needs to be done to make sure that you are happy. As always, the goal here at Goode Plumbing is total customer satisfaction. I am very happy that overall you are happy with our work. Thank you, Mike Goode

Plumbers are expensive - and that is what I was reacquainted with during this visit. Plumber was professional and courteous and stopped leaks in both my toilets. He told me my bathroom faucet would need a new cartridge to stop leaking and that the cartridge for the specialized faucet plus installation would run $150-200. He recommended and I agreed that I buy a new faucet instead and call him when I had it so they could install it. I bought the faucet and installed it myself for less than $50 (faucet included). No, I'm not a plumber, but I am comfortable around supply lines, pipe wrenches and teflon tape - oh, and hole saws (had to expand the hole in the countertop from 1-1/4 inces to 1/12 inches for the faucet to fit. If I had to call a plumber, I definitely would use Goode Plumbing again - but I would call only if there is no way I could do the job myself.

Thank you for your review. I will agree that licensed, professional plumbers, can be expensive. We have to go through four years of training and education to get our basic journeymans license alone, plus the expenses that come with being a business (insurance, more licensing, etc etc). However, I honestly do feel that Goode Plumbing offers a great value nonethess. The price that my plumber charged was very, very reasonable for the work. If there are things that you are able to do yourself, we encourage that as long as it is done well. In fact, there are many times that we offer advice while we are at a home on things homeowners can do to keep us away (in terms of maintenance, easy repairs, etc). We truly do appreciate your hiring us, and am glad that you are keeping us in mind for those jobs that you would like us to help with.

Thank you very much! This member had a drain pipe in his home that was obstructed between his bathroom and his ejector pump in another area of the basement. I was able to remove the obstruction using a drain cleaning machine. I also checked his pump which was still functioning but a bit older. I checked a few small items out while I was there and found a defective toilet flapper, which I replaced with a new part. Mike was very responsive and understood the urgency of our service call. it was Dec and we had no hot water and low pressure. he came out and assessed the situation, recommended the appropriate replacement water heater for our home and quoted me a fair price. within 24 hrs he was able to come back, remove the broken unit and replace it within 4 hrs. he also added a larger drain valve to the new unit, and a drain pan. he was mindful of not making a mess and cleaned up after himself. i highly recommend Mike and will consider them first for any future plumbing work that i may need in the future!

Thank you very much, Member. I appreciate the work as well as your taking the time for this review. As this client mentioned, we installed a new water heater for him. We use Bradford White for our basic storage type water heaters such as this, as they are made in the USA and are built up to a standard rather than down to a price, as we have seen all too often in recent years. We cover this type of water heater for 6 years and include both parts and labor. We also added our full port drain valve and brass water inlet and outlet fittings for excellent protection against corrosion. We also added a safety pan that is connected to a drain. Thank you again for the work!

Thank you so much for this review. This member was very nice to work for. Her tub/shower valve was beyond practical repair, so I installed a new one for her that has some safety features such as anti scald protection. The drain of the basement tubs the washing machine drains into was completely blocked. I tried everything I could do myself, from trying to use a little drain snake, to chemicals, to a device called a "clog buster" that uses water pressure-- little effect. So I bought a Big Deal for evaluation plus $60 towards plumbing work, thinking that should about cover such a small issue. I was not home when the plumber came-- my husband had to handle it. The evaluation revealed that they would charge us another amount-- I think it was $60-- to actually fix the drain. My husband agreed, and the plumber blasted the clog out with a heavy-duty air blaster. I believe it took 3 or 4 repetitions to get it flowing. No problem since. So I am happy to have the drain cleared, but feel we paid as much as we would have without the Big Deal. But I could be wrong about that.

Thank you for the review and for the service call. I used specialty equipment to remove the obstruction, which did not take long. Something like this is impossible to price over the phone. It could have been a simple clog (which it turned out to be), but if it was more involved, it could have meant pumping a catch basin, using a larger piece of drain cleaning equipment, hydro jetting, or several other possibilities that are pretty spread apart in both scope of work and pricing. The Deal Deal through Angie's List saved you about $35.00. The price that I charged you was very competitive, and I will always stand behind the work done by Goode Plumbing. I hope this explains things a little better, and certainly appreciate the work and hope that I can be of service to you in the future. Thank you, Mike Goode

I called Goode Plumbing due to the huge number of positive reviews. There was a bit of a glitch when I first called, I had to call back s couple times. But Mike was very apologetic about that, and everything else was great. Mike came over and quickly identified that our leak under our kitchen sink was from our faucet going bad. he suggested a place to get a new one, a place we had a good history with. We purchased a new faucet and Mike came back to install it at our convenience. He finished the job in short order. A great experience.

Thank you for the review and for rewarding me with the service call. I do apologize for the initial scheduling issue-this customer requested that I come later in the day, at 6pm or so, and I interpreted the time as 6pm or after. I was still on another job at 6pm the day of our appointment, so this Member called to ask where I was at. I explained that I thought we were meeting anytime after 6pm, he was very accepting, and I arrived around 7pm to look at the job at hand. There was a leak under this client's sink, which I found was from the faucet. He purchased a faucet and I installed it, as well as replacing some drain work under the sink that was in marginal condition.

The entire process went wonderfully. They were very responsive to our call for service. We were able to arrange a service call the very next day at a time that was most convenient for us. Ed, the technician, was very professional and knowledgeable as he surveyed our problems. It was decided that it would be best to replace both the shut offs and the faucet due to age. Ed came back the next day with the parts and replaced the existing items in a timely manner. He was very careful of our property and precise in his installation always making sure that the connections were wrapped with teflon tape and leak proof. He made sure our shut offs were comfortably positioned for our use. In calculating the cost for the job, Ed reduced the book price taking into account parts that we would not be needing. That was a pleasant surprise. We also received a quote for replacing our aging hot water heater. Ed went into detail as to why they are superior with their installation methods compared to others. We have given them the ok to replace the hot water heater next week. We were very pleased with the whole experience and saved 10% on the total bill because we were Angie's List members. How can you beat that? It's easy to see why Goode Plumbing has consistently received the outstanding service award from Angie's List. Keep up the outstanding work!

I was impressed by the initial estimator / plumber that came out and once I was able to get on their schedule (not too long) we settied on pricing. I had been in the market for a battery backup for my very necessary sump pump since we had lost power back in 2011 and had just enough water in our basement (which at that time was just storage) to trash the old carpet/walls to force an unscheduled remodling money pit. The pump back up was the last in a series of investments made to ensure that we wouldn't have that problem in the future. Mike was helpful with guidance on the pros and cons of this fairly sizeable investment and the various options that I could choose from. When he and another plumber arrived to complete the work they were clean, prompt and kept me in the loop with progress. They even swapped out much of the older copper piping from the pump since it was not quite installed properly for a discounted price. The one thing that I notice everyday with the work they did was the installation of new check valves which have to be the quietest I've ever (not) heard. I'd call them again when the pesky problem of plumbing arises...
Description of Work: Called Mike Goode to secure estimate for some work in our basement laundry room. This involved replacing the grey water discharge pipe and the feeder pipe to the main overhead drain, which was old and possibly decaying. We also discussed a battery backup system to my pump.

Thank you for this review and for allowing us in your home to do this work. As this Member has explained, we did a fair amount of repiping in his utility/laundry room. Once we started removing some of the piping, we discovered some additional vent piping had been done inefficiently at some point in this home's past, so we redesigned that as well. We also installed new sump pump and battery powered back up system. This was not an inexpensive system, but is of very high quality. The quiet type check valves this client mentioned are something a lot of our customers have come to appreciate-the standard check valves are pretty loud in operation. Our goal of excellent quality lead us to the installation of these valves with very sump and ejector pump installation that we do. I am glad this member is happy with our service and work and hope that we can be of service in the future.

The plumber arrived on time, put on the little booties he brought before crossing the threshold, and tested the sink. Inspecting is not simple in my tiny bathroom: he had to kneel on the floor, squeeze between the sink and toilet, and twist around with a flashlight to see the pipes and underneath the bowl of the pedestal. He had no problem doing what was necessary. He immediately saw that one of the connecting lines was kinked and showed me that I could untwist it to give it more play. This simple move improved the water flow and I could probably do it myself next time if needed (I haven't needed to yet and it's been 3.5 months). I appreciated that he clued me in to something I can easily do myself and not have to pay someone to do. More importantly, the plumber kept looking and feeling around to figure out the mystery leak. He finally found a crack in the porcelain--inside the bowl, something you can only see by kneeling and twisting awkwardly and shining a flashlight inside a narrow opening underneath the bowl. He showed me how to find it myself. I appreciated his diligence searching for that leak and that he explained things to me. Unfortunately he said that there was really nothing to be done and caulking (which would be difficult) would only be a temporary fix and that I needed to replace the sink. Several weeks later I had a contractor doing some other work and I had him take a look at the crack. He also said I needed to replace the sink and I was glad to have confirmation before I incur the expense of a new sink. The Goode plumber advised me to go on Angie's list and print the coupon, which I did. He explained how the deal would save me money in the future on another service and I found the deal a bit confusing but I think it was worth it. Overall I'm happy with the service I received and would use Goode again. I don't remember the plumber's name but he was very nice and professional. (A side note: I haven't yet replaced the sink but have avoided the leak by using the hot water very, very sparingly. When I do replace the sink I will consider using Goode.)
Description of Work: Pedestal sink in bathroom had very low water flow as well as small leak on hot water side. Plumber fixed water flow and identified source of leak.

Thank you for taking the time to write this report. I have to be honest in saying that I think we deserved straight "A" s on our report card here! I think the price to have a professional plumber out was very reasonable , and that we were very professional in giving advise on what needed to be done. The client was not ready to have us do the work at the time, as she was having a contractor do a larger project that did end up including the repairs that we recommended. I do appreciate the fact that you were happy with us overall, and that you will consider using us in the future. Thank you!

They were great. In fact, the job went over what the estimate was in terms of time. They were going to return to me the additional money. I felt bad so I gave them some more money. The woman that I talked to on the phone who handles everything was great. She was very professional. And, the plumber Bob was amazing. It was a nightmare that he was trying to work with because of the earlier plumbings that we had was really pretty horrible. He ended up being in my house from 10:00 until well after 5:00 at night. The price was very reasonable and the work was excellent.

Thank you very, very much for this review, Member. We truly do appreciate your taking the time to write it, and also appreciate your rewarding us with the work that you did. Bob takes pride in treating customers right and doing a good job-even if things do get a bit more involved than anticipated. Our job is to stick things out and make sure they are completely properly and professionally. We run into some interesting plumbing, whether it is a very old system, something new and high tech, or something that was not done properly previously. We like these challenges, and it truly makes us happy when we complete something that isn't easy. Thank you again.

Goode returned my call for scheduling right away, and then even called the day before offering to come earlier if we'd like. That didn't work for us, and they were quite fine with that. I really appreciate the offer, though. At our service time, Ed came right on time, and was cheerful and efficient. It took a total of 55 minutes! Beautiful work, friendly people!
Description of Work: We had a double faucet in our laundry sink replaced, and also the trap underneath was corroded and had been dripping for years. Both replaced by Goode.

I was bummed that I had to track down the plumber after he left, but he was quite responsive. would probably use again if I couldn't get my suburban plumber to go down there.
Description of Work: There was a leak in a utility closet in my son's condo. first there was a charge to just open the wall up and then after I had an HVAC tech remove the cold air supply line, the plumber came back to install a new copper drain line that had probably been leaking for years. He was very nice and knew what he was doing. Also very responsive when I called after he had left as washing machine hook up then leaking. I think they know what they are doing, but they are a little expensive.

Thank you for your review here. I am glad that overall you were happy with our service, but I do apologize for the items that you were not. I will talk to the plumber that was there regarding the leak-we are very careful and I am adamant about our plumbers double or triple checking their work. Regarding pricing and charges, it is true that we do charge to open walls or ceilings, because that is actual work. We keep that to a minimum, but do have to charge something for this service. I will say that while we aren't the least expensive plumber in the business, I do feel that based upon our quality of work and customer service, we are still a great value. Again, I do apologize about the drip from the washing machine hose. If I can be of service to you in the future, or I can help with any of the issues that you did have, please call me anytime on my personal cell which is (773) 407-1884. Thank you, Mike Goode

Goode Plumbing is a great company to do business with! When we realized our old hot water heater had died the other night (again) we went on Angie's List to find a vendor to come out and replace it and Goode had good reviews so I decided to call them. Mike got back to me that same night but sent me a text because it was nearly midnight and he wasn't sure I would still be awake; which was extremely thoughtful. He then called me in the morning to follow up. I explained that we were selling our condo in a month so we weren't looking to spend a ton of money on a new water heater and he quoted me a very fair price it it did need to be replaced. When he came out, he determined that the old one could be repaired and even called the vendor to see if it was still under warranty and was told yes so we decided to just go ahead and fix the old one. He was genuinely happy that he was able to help us out by finding out about the warranty and told me what I needed to do in order to get the replacement part shipped to me. He knew we were in a bind not having hot water on one of the coldest days of the year and said to call him as soon as the part arrived and he would fit us into his schedule even though he was booked up for the next several days. Unfortunately when I called the vendor back to order the part, I got a different guy who said that the previous customer service rep had given bad information and the warranty was actually up and I would have to pay for the parts and the shipping. At that point it was nearly as expensive to fix the old one as it was going to be to replace it and we would have hot water restored a lot quicker. I called Mike and he came right back over and got to work on getting the old one out while another plumber from Goode went and picked up the new one. They worked together to get the new one installed and we had hot water again by the afternoon. I couldn't have been happier with Goode Plumbing and the work they did and I would definitely call them again when plumbing work is needed.

Thank you very much for the work and the very nice review here. As the Member explained, she was selling her condo and did not really want to invest a lot of money into a new water heater if it did not to be replaced. Since the existing water heater was 6 years old, I felt that if we could get parts under warranty, it would still give the next owner several years of service. I called the manufacture to check on this, and was told the unit was under warranty but that the registered owner (my customer) needed to call as they would not issue parts to anyone but her. I told her to let me know when the parts were in and I would fit her in. She called me about twenty minutes later, and said that the manufacture said the information given earlier was inaccurate, and they would not warranty this. The parts and labor came within a couple of hundred dollars of a brand new unit, so she opted to go this route. I was able to get her a good price on a new, quality brand unit with a good warranty that is transferrable to the next owners. We also installed a safety pan below the unit and added a shut off valve-both items omitted by the previous installers. We wish the member luck with the sale of her condo and appreciate the business!

Jeff arrived at the job promptly; was very courteous, professional and very responsive to my concerns as a customer. The scope of the work involved turned out to be more than I had anticipated in terms of cost and complexity. Jeff, however, did an excellent job fixing the problem and covering up the gaping hole in my basement floor!
Description of Work: Basement flooded out with as much as six-inches high water. Sewer rodded out; Basement floor excavated and leak in water pipe leading into home from main service discovered below concrete basement floor . Pipe cut out at location of leak and replaced with copper pipe fitting. Excavated hole covered up with custom-fitted wooden board.

Thank you very much for this review as well as for rewarding us with this work. With issues such as this, it can be difficult to tell exactly what will be involved until we have some excavation completed so that we can accurately determine the exact problem. Jeff worked hard and a long day to get this completed. I was able to send one of our other plumbers to assist after he was done with a job that he was working on. They worked into the night to get this client back in working order. Jeff returned the next day to finish some detail items. Thank you again for allowing us to complete your repairs!
