The toilet repair was done over two days. They were able to shuffle their technicians to get someone at our house the next day after I called. They returned the following day to finish the repairs with additional parts for our specialized toilets.
The technicians were courteous and professional, and we are confident we have high quality parts and strong workmanship for the installation.
The next time we need plumbing services Goode Plumbing is getting a call.
My only beef is the cost. It wasn't a ton of work or materials. One shutoff valve and I'm pretty sure he reused most of the pipe that I had. Maybe 6 or 7 feet total. 3 or for elbows. This seemed a bit pricey but I was told that they have "pricing structures and this is two jobs not one (shutoff and pipe reroute). Probably should have pressed him on it, but I didn't.
"Thank you very much for having us out to work on your home. As the member indicated, there were several issues we took care of. The kitchen sink had a leak, but the drain work was also configured improperly. I removed all of the tubular drain work and replaced it with new, high quality 17 gauge brass of a new, correct design. There was also a leak in a copper water supply line, so we cut a section of it out and replaced it with new, type L hard drawn copper tube and new fittings. The homeowner also fixed a toilet himself and asked us to have a look and it appears that he did it properly-nice work! Lastly, a loose faucet in a bathroom needed positioning and securing. We also appreciate your taking the time to write a review here!"
"Thank you for the review! In this case, one of our plumbers, Develle, had to remove an obstruction. He was able to do this without removing the fixture, so it was a relatively minor repair. I am glad that it was painless for you and that we were able to get things resolved. We also appreciate your loyalty and this review."
"Thank you for having us over to your home for this repair. We sent Jeff out to this particular job, which required the replacement of some minor under sink piping to eliminate a leak. We appreciate this review and the service call!"
"Thank you for your review! We love customer like this who keep us on our toes-we felt this would surely be a straight "A" job, but this means we really need to keep reaching to do even better at all times! We installed a new, high quality Bradford White water heater. Our plumber Develle completed this job. It did take longer than either party expected, but we needed to make sure it was done properly at the end. We stuck to our originally quoted price despite the extra effort, which is why our up front pricing is a bonus for customers. We did follow up regarding the pressure issue mentioned, but the member stated that it was working well enough for her to leave it as it is for the time. We appreciate the work very much!"
"Thank you. We have done several items in the past for this Member, and appreciate the loyalty, the business, and this review. We look forward to helping with any future plumbing issues."
"Thank you very much for the review. I am sorry if we were running a little behind with things, and appreciate your patience. We installed a new disposal-as the member mentioned, there was an issue with the electrical supply that needed straightening out. We appreciate the work very much!"
"After seeing this review, I did reach out to this Member and left a voice message. I do hope to hear back as I take any issue very seriously. All of us at Goode Plumbing want our customers to be happy, and whenever they are less than that, I do my best to rectify things. I will say that the plumber that we sent to this job, which was completed last year, Jeff, is a stellar plumber, and his name has been mentioned multiple times in the numerous A grade reviews. Jeff has been with us for a long time and has an excellent reputation both with the company and our customers. I would like to go over the grades this member left individually. Overall he rated us a C. The only issue the Member seems to have with us was price (which was not the $100 mentioned here. I am not sure where that amount is from). I do not feel it is fair that this member rated us lower than an A in other catagories because he was not happy with the price. PRICE- rated us an F. Firstly, I went over the invoice and the price that we charged was extermely fair. I do understand that quality plumber is not what one would call cheap, but for the work performed, it was very fair. I have to ask that anyone who thinks our pricing is high, to PLEASE compare it to our competitors! While the cost of plumbing may be higer than one WANTS it to be, our prices are very competitive. Keep in mind we are a licesned, insured, bonded, professional plumbing company and there are minimum costs that we have to charge in order to run a legitimate business and stay in business. I know for a fact that our pricing is not deserving of an F rating. We price shop our competitors regularly, and invite our customers to do the same-you will find we are a great value. QUALITY-C. Again, not sure why we received less than an A. I have never had Jeff deliver anything less than A level work. I personally do random inspections of our plumbers work, and am confident this C is an unfair rating. RESPONSIVENESS- C. If we were less than responsive, I would appreciate hearing what happened. If the member called during our normal, advertised business hours, they would have reached our office receptionist. After hours, our answering service takes over and sends me both a text and an email. While things do happen, we do our best to answer our customers in a timely manner. PUNCTUALITY-N/A. I think punctuaity is applicable here. According to our records, Jeff arrived within the original time window we scheduled. PROFESSIONALISM-C. Again, I am a bit shocked by anything less than an A here. We treat our customers respectfully, give up front pricing whenever possible. We are all pretty well spoken individuals and work neatly, and clean up after ourselves, etc. I honestly think that this member was perhaps surprised by the price (although again, we welcome price shopping-and the member approved of our price at the time of the work), and let this opinion affect the grades in all catagories, which really is unfair. I of course also would love the oppertunity to help explain anything here, and can be reached on my cell phone on (773)407-1884. Thank you, Mike Goode"
"Thank you for the kind words as well as the loyalty expressed with your repeat business! As mentioned, we have done several items for this member. Most recently, we removed a old drum type bathtub trap and replaced it with a modern P trap, and rodded the drain line so things are flowing well again. we were able to do this with no damage to the floor in this case, going through the ceiling from below instead."
"Thank you very much! We truly appreciate your kind words and your taking the time for this review. We look forward to working with you in the future, should any plumbing issues arise again."
"Thank you for the review. We truly appreciate it. We also grateful for the work! In this situation, we did replace the disposal with a new, high quality unit with a 6 year warranty. The other item, as mentioned, was a somewhat unique toilet (we have installed and serviced a number of these units in the past ten years or so), where the tank is held in a bespoke mounting assembly concealed in the wall. It required some new parts, which we were able to locate in stock. After some additional adjustment, we had the toilet working properly again. As I mentioned, we have experience with these and other unusual plumbing fixtures. Occasionally, we come across something that we have not seen before, but we do possess the patience and willingness to figure things out so that that fixture is working as it should when we are done."
He arrived on the day that he said he would, got it done in less time than required, and reduced his billing appropriately. Further, while he was around, he showed the attention to detail mentioned in other reviews - we had various trivial items such as faucets that did not turn off exactly at vertical, etc. and he just repaired them as he was going along anyway. It's been a couple of weeks, and we couldn't be happier with his service.
He's not the cheapest plumber on Angie's List, but his professionalism and careful attention to detail in his work will make even the most obsessive compulsive personalities smile.
"Thank you for having us over to do complete the inspection and repairs. This Member recently purchased this home, so I went through his list, and found a few additional items that needed some attention as well. I completed various faucet repairs, serviced the tankless water heater, rodded a few fixture drains, etc. I appreciate your compliment, and while I think we have covered everything in your home so that you should not need me for some time, I do hope you will keep Goode Plumbing in mind when a plumbing issue does arise."
"It was indeed one brutal winter that we had. We are still getting calls for fixtures that are not used during colder months, such as outside hose faucets, that homeowners are now discovering leaks at due to damage from freezing over the winter. We appreciate your having us over to help with the burst piping, and for your taking the time to review us here."
"Thank you very much-we do appreciate your loyalty. I do apologize if an adjustment was needed-of course, we do our best to make sure things are done right the first time! On that rare occasion that something needs an adjustment, we make it a priority to get it handled promptly. Most recently, our plumber, George, was over to repair a shower valve and removed an obstruction in a shut off valve. We also appreciate the review!"
"Thank you very much. Bob used a Spartan M100 drain cleaning machine to remove the obstrution from this kitchen sink drain line. We appreciate your kind words as well as your taking the time to write this review!"
George asked me a few questions about the ejector pump, and I was fuzzy on the details to say the least. My husband and I thought it may still be under warranty. He said he didn't want to "step on any toes", so he waited patiently while I found the info on the old pump and contacted the last company. After a very long time, the lady on the other end of the line discovered it was actually out of warranty and much older than either of us thought.
At that point he asked again what I would like to do, gave me an estimate of the cost of replacement, and I gave him the go ahead to replace the pump.
While he was replacing the ejector pump, he found that the check valve was stuck open and also in need of replacement. He even took the time to draw a diagram to explain the function of the check valve before replacing it, just to make sure I knew to what I was agreeing.
He showed me the new ejector pump before he installed it, pointing out certain things on it. He answered all my questions about the nature of ejector pumps, such as seasonal work loads (most ejector pumps are replaced in the spring!), which part tends to wear out the first, so on and so forth. I'm a theater electrician, so the fiddly tech bits were interesting to me.
When he was done, I asked about an Angie's List coupon that my husband knew about. He asked if we had an account, which we do, but because it's in another member of the association's name I didn't know the login info. Long story short, he gave us the discount even though I wasn't able to print out the coupon.
Now, I would have gladly recommended him and his company to anyone who needed a plumber already, but that was the icing on the cake! It's always a potentially awkward situation when someone comes to work on your house, but George was extremely friendly and non-intrusive, and even my normally shy toddler had warmed up to him by the time he was finished.
"Thank you, Member. We very much appreciate your kind words as well as your having us over to install a new ejector pump for you. George installed a new, high quality Zoeller pump and new check valve, both of which are covered by 3 year parts and labor warranty from us. George has been with us for some time, and is a very quality concerned member of our team! He is very detailed and I am glad that he was able to go over all of those details with you."
"Thank you, Member. I do appreciate your kind words! I was able to come up with what I belived would help lessen the vibration issue that this member was experiencing. He lives in a garden condo unit near a mechanical room, and noise from a recirulation pump was traveling through a pipe that ran through the ceiling of his unit. My apologies for running late (we did call the member in advance to let him know)-the job that I had previous to you ran a little longer than I expected, as mentioned. I appreciate your pateince in waiting for my arrival."
"Thank you Member-in all honesty, the cost indicated here was actually the savings amound from a Big Deal special we were running (we run various specials and coupons from time to time). I am glad we were able to get things repaired quickly and efficiently for you."
"Thank you very much! I know that we have been out a couple of times and appreciate the loyalty. It seems like water heaters never break down when it is conveneintly-it is always at night when parts suppliers are closed, or when you have guests staying over, or on Sunday. I am very glad we were able to help out and appreciate the business and the review!"
