What was most impressive was the post engagement service.
I had a query about what I was charged after the technician left. Mike (the owner) was extremely responsive, non judgemental (towards me or his team member) and resolved the situation quickly and efficiently. Would recommend and definitely use again.
"Thank you very much for having us over to complete this service call for you. We truly appreciate the work. the member had a question about the cost after the work was done, so I looked into the matter and found that he did not receive the Angie's List discount, so we applied that. We also agreed that there was a minor repair that could be reduced in price, so we helped with that as well. I am very glad everything went well and the client was happy with everything. We also appreciate the very nice review here on Angie's List!"
"Thank you very much for having us out to perform this service call for you! We are glad that things went well, and that we were able to get you in sooner than anticipated. We also appreciate the review here on Angie's List."
"Thank you for your review. My apologies for the warranty requirement, but I am glad it all went well by the end. We always strive to provide fantastic work at a reasonable cost for our clients. My goal is to provide nothing less than an A rated experience in all aspects, and if we fell even a little short, we need to continue to work harder. We appreciate the business very much as well as your feedback."
"Thank you for having us out! This Member's main drain line was very badly obstructed with sanitary wipes-we find this issue has become more common the past several years. Many manufactures of these products advertise them as being "flushable", but we strongly disagree. We find that they do not break down and cause great expense to many homeowners. It took me the better part of the day to get this line cleared of the obstruction, but I am glad we were able to get things flowing well again. I also appreciate the review very much!"
We would highly recommend Goode Plumbing. They are located at 4594 North Elston Avenue, Chicago 60630 and their phone is (773) 407-1884.
"Thank you very much for having us over to install the new water heater. We were able to have a look at things on Sunday, but since we were pretty confident the water heater itself was under warranty, we decided it would be beneficial to the client to have them wait until the water heater supply house for this brand (Bradford White) opened the next day. This was a 75 gallon power vented water heater, an expensive unit, so I am glad that we did as we were able to get the unit replaced for them under warranty. We did have to charge for labor and other materials needed to install the new unit properly, but there was a substantial savings because of the tank warranty. We appreciate the loyalty including this job, and for taking the time to review us on Angie's List."
"Member, we appreciate the feedback, even if it is NOT the kind we like to see. I did speak to the Member after seeing his review, and it does sound like we did let him down. His faucet was assembled improperly by another plumber, unrelated to us. One of our plumbers was sent to repair an issue with the faucet, and he spent a fair amount of time obtaining the correct part. He reassembled it the way that it was previously, but with a new part, but he should have spent more time researching it to ensure correct assembly. I have had a very serious talk with my plumber, who otherwise has had a very good record with us, and he understands how important the little details are. The member did explain that he was also upset about our cost for the part, and the truth is that we often pay a higher price for parts than one might be able to find online. We still prefer to work with a local supplier for things like this, because if there is an issue with the part, we can exchange it quickly, rather than trying to fight for an exchange with a company that may be hundreds or even thousands of miles away. We have tried ordering things online in the past, with less than stellar results, so we deal with reputable local companies, even if it is a little more expensive up front-our dedication to customer service demands this. He also spent a fair amount of time looking for the correct parts. In an ideal world, he could have emailed some images to the supplier, but this was a specialty item and he wanted to make completely sure he had the right, so he brought the physical part with him to match up. While this may seem inefficient, it is often the best way to make sure we get the right item. Some supply houses will not accept anything less and do not accept returns on these specialty parts, so again, we do this in the best interest of the homeowner. I must apologize for not catching the issues the client had more quickly. I looked into the whole situation, and agreed that given that he was inconvenienced by us having to make a second trip, which caused him to miss a second day of work, so I did agree to give him a partial refund. He sent me an email back stating that my agreement was more than fair, and that he now understood why we have such a great reputation. Our team here loves to make clients happy, and I am glad we were able to get this worked out in the end, but again I do apologize for the fact that we let him down during the service. I am working very hard to prevent things like this from occurring, as I take a lot of pride in customer service, as do all of the employees at Goode Plumbing."
charge me $600 to change two wax rings. When my jaw hit the floor, they
came down to $300 for both. 4 months later, the wax ring they had
trouble installing failed. After a few attempts to contact them, Goode
came back out. The plumber himself said the wax ring failed and the
toilet wasn't seated properly because the flange was below tile level;
something that wasn't addressed initially in April. They wanted to
charge me $250 for a service charge to assess the damage that was caused
by their poor and improper installation of the toilet...which I should
added leaked causing $2000 of damage to my neighbors below. Goode
eventually came back to repair the initial problem but still had me pay
the $250 service charge from earlier which I initially refuse to pay. 6
weeks later, that same toilet came loose! I had to pay a second
plumber to come and fix it properly. Goode refused to take any
responsibility for the damages that were caused by their poor practices.
They actually have a clause in their contract you sign when they do
work that supposedly protect them from litigation if their work causes
water damage. PLEASE READ THE FINE PRINT ON THE CONTRACT. After not
getting a call back regarding reimbursement for the damages they caused
my neighbors, I approached an attorney who wrote them a letter.
Needless to say, they again refused to accept any responsibility. The
attorney stated there were willfully and wantonly negligent in their
service and I would have a strong case against them. I did not pursue
the case because the court cost would have exceed the thousands of
dollars I have already spent. My only course of action is to warn other
customers that this company is not as reputable as they supposedly
are. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND FINDING A DIFFERENT COMPANY TO PERFORM PLUMBING SERVICES.
"Thank you very much for your review! We are glad that you are happy with Andrew and our company. We furnished and installed a very good quality pump, which we cover for three years under warranty, which covers both parts and warranty. A new, quiet type check valve and our anti fitting overheat kit were also installed. We appreciate the service call and review very much!"
"Thank you! I am very glad that you were happy with our company, including Reggie, one of our plumbers. We appreciate your hiring us for the service call, as well as your review."
I commend all the DIYers out there..but plumbing is no joke and I have a lot of respect for the work these guys do. I highly recommend them and I think all homeowners should leave the important stuff..like sump pumps to professional plumbers like Goode. It will save you money and stress in the future.
"Thank you so very much for your continued loyalty! Our goal is to build a relationship with our clients, so that they know that they have a reliable, trust worthy company they can call should a plumbing issue come up. The pumps that we installed were high quality units with a 3 year parts and labor warranty! We are glad that all went well with the work on both the pumps as well as the toilet. Thank you also for the very nice review!"
"Thank you for your review here. We could not find your name in our system, and the address listed is out of state. If this was a condo building, your Angie's List account may be under a different name, so I apologize that we were not able to thank you specifically for the work done-but we do appreciate it!"
"Thank you for allowing us to send one of our plumbers, Tony, to service your water heater. He completed the maintenance and tank flush for you. We appreciate the service call as well as your review here!"
"Thank you for having us over to install the faucet for you! We appreciate the service call very much and hope that we can be of service to you again the next time you have a need for plumbing service. Thank you for your review here as well."
"Thank you for having us over to replace your water heater. This was a Bradford White 50 gallon power vent, high efficiency water heater, which we warranty for six years, parts and labor both included. We also added a new full port drain valve, safety pan, brass fitting package, and repiped several areas of water supply. I do agree that this is not the least expensive water heater or installation around-but it is an excellent quality product, installed properly with many new fittings, new valves, etc. We are confident that, given the quality and amount of work, this was an excellent value. We spent a full day on the work there to make sure that it turned out as it should. We truly appreciate the work as well as your very kind words here!"
"Thank you very much for having us over! We sent Reggie to help pump the catch basin out. We have the waste disposed of properly, which does cost a little more, but it is the environmentally correct way to do this type of work. We appreciate the service call as well as this review!"
"Thank you for the very nice review! We are glad that you were happy with our service. I will agree that having a licensed, professional plumber out to do repairs can be expensive-but we do our best to still deliver a great value by being on time, delivering a top quality service using excellent parts and materials, and backing that up with the best warranty in the industry. Thank you again for the work as well as this review!"
"Thank you! We appreciate the service call. We sent one of our plumbers, Bob, to this Member to reset a toilet and look at a few other items. We truly appreciate the work and your feeback here on Angie's List."
"Thank you for having us over for the water heater maintenance and to look at a few other items. We are glad you were happy with the water heater service, but apologize if you were unhappy with the pricing on the other items. There were several other items that we looked at. Our goal is to always install top quality parts and materials, to do it properly, at a reasonable cost. You would want to make sure that the other company, who you ended up hiring to do the work, is providing you with equal quality and service and not just a lower price, with less quality. For example, one of the items that we quoted you for was to replace a P trap under a sink-we use high quality 17 gauge brass tubular drain parts. There are lesser quality options-22 gauge bras, thin plastic, etc. Which did they use? Another item on the list was a shut off valve for a dishwasher. We use only quarter turn, brass constructed valve. There are quarter turn valves with plastic internal parts, and multiple turn valve with plastic internal parts, that may cost less-but a few years down the road, we want you to be able to rely on this very important part in case of emergency. There was also a shower cartridge that we recommended replacing. We quoted you the cost using a Genuine OEM part. These typically fit better and last longer than less expensive aftermarket items. Then there is our warranty-Lifetime against defects in our workmanship, and two years parts and labor on the materials we furnish and install. If the company you hired was able to provide the same things I mentioned, and were a third of the cost, I am very impressed. But my bet is that they did not, if I am honest, and while a very low initial price is nice, we prefer to do the best job we can using the best materials. Again, thank you so much for the work-we do truly appreciate it, and hope that you might keep us in mind if we can be of assistance in the future."
I would highly recommend Goode Plumbing for any of your plumbing issues.
"Thank you for allowing us to send one of our plumbers, Reggie, to your home for this service. We truly appreciate your kind words and are happy that you were satisfied with our company and our work! Thank you also for taking the time to write this review and grade us on Angie's List."
"Thank you for having us out for the service call. We are glad that you were happy with everything, and also appreciate you taking the time to submit this review to Angie's List!"
"This was the restoration of a vintage tub and shower valve. We were originally hoping for a minor repair, but once everything was disassembled, we discovered that pretty much every component of this faucet was worn and needed replacing. Previous attempts to repair it by others left it in a fairly bad state. However, the quality of the valve was high-this unit was approximately 50 years old and had never been overhauled-I felt it was worth the effort to rebuild it rather than replace it. This would also prevent the homeowner from having to replace tile as the only way to completely replace the valve would be by opening the wall. We worked together to come up with a fairly reasonable cost on a proper repair. Thank you for this review, and for your faith in us!"
My initial contact was through booking an Angie's List Water Heater Inspection. The whole process was seamless and scheduling with Carrie in the office was easy.
Bob D came out to my condo on 12/28 in the midst of a sleet storm. He called to let me know when I could expect him and he was early for the two hour window. He was very friendly, professional and spent a significant amount of time with my water heater. I was losing hot water pressure and he tried several things to resolve the problem. He was upfront and explained the cause of the pressure loss. He let me know that my water heater wasn't in danger of failing and had life left in it (it was 9 years old).
I asked Bob for an estimate to replace the water heater and felt the quote he provided was fair. I also appreciated that Goode Plumbing provides both the labor and parts for any warranty service on the new water heater. Bob answered all my questions and was very straight forward with me.
I made the decision to go with the replacement - to be proactive and, quite frankly, being in a new home, I wanted to enjoy full hot water pressure. I called Carrie and was able to schedule it for three days later on 12/31 which was great timing for me.
Bob D. and Drew arrived early for the replacement appointment. Unfortunately, my street is torn up for water main work, and it created parking challenges for Bob and Drew. They were very accommodating and flexible about the situation. Both Bob and Drew were friendly and professional. When the finished, the left no trace of the work they performed - they were meticulous in their work. Bob walked me through my water heater and answered all my questions.
I fully recommend Goode Plumbing and I am so happy that I found a great, reliable plumbing service provider. They will be my first call for all of my plumbing needs in my new home. Thank you!
"Thank you very much for having us replace your water heater. Bob and Drew have been with us for some time and we are very happy that you were pleased with them! The old water heater was still working, but at nine years old, the best solution was a replacement. We furnished and installed a high quality water heater, which we cover for 6 years on both parts and labor! We appreciate your kind words in this review and you should expect years of reliable service from your new water heater."
"Thank you! We sent our plumber/manager, Mike Davis, to your home. I am very glad that you were happy with Mike as well as Goode Plumbing as a company. We appreciate the work and your taking the time to grade our performance."
