Goode Plumbing

I called Michael Goode, explained the situation (repeated sewer backup into the basement) and he came out within a couple of days to give me an estimate. He was very friendly, clearly explained what he was proposing to do, and I eventually decided to go with his bid. Two difficulties arose during the project: time and cost. Michael originally estimated 4-5 working days, and it wound up taking 10. In fairness, the sewer line turned out to be a couple of feet deeper than he had thought, and the crew had to dig through a lot of rubble. However, in retrospect I think 4-5 days was a bit optimistic. The other issue was that the electrician couldn't find room in my circuit breaker box to hook up the pump, and so that entailed another $600 for a new, larger box. It had to be done, but I do wish I had known at the beginning. However, the crew were great guys and worked very hard to get this done. I'm pleased with the result.

I called Goode Plumbing in the morning and they called back within an hour. I described the problem to them (leaky piping connections under my kitchen sink) and they said that they had some time in the afternoon to look at the issue. They're costs were ~$50 to come and look at the problem but that was included in the overall price if I decided to have the work done. The plumber arrived promptly at our designated time. He looked at the piping and told me that the P trap was installed backwards (by the original builder). I also pointed out that the piping had never been put on squarely and just "tightened" to fit. He said that he could put a PVC pipe connection in so that the piping would be square. The estimate came out to $195.00 for the parts and labor. (They don't split out parts & labor in their estimate.) I agreed and less than an hour later, the job was completed. They were completely professional and courteous throughout the process. My only hesitation with this company is that the cost seemed high for the job.

It went very well. They were very clean and responsive. The Technician gave me a price before he began working and I had another issue that I thought the price was high on, so I opted not to address at that time. I later determined that the part was under warranty and obtained the part for free and will call this company back for installation.

Project went very well in that Goode started work when he said he would, and finished when he said he would. Mike Goode clearly knows what he is doing, and particularly with rehab work, that knowledge is essential to getting a good result.

Excellent. Michael Goode emailed me back on a Sunday to say he'd call on Monday morning to set up a call. He called first thing in the morning and sent his crew over right away. They gave me a very reasonable estimate and did the job.

I called Goode Plumbing on Monday of that week and booked an appointment for Wednesday at 8:00 am. Although Michael Goode kept me abreast of the situation, he was still two hours late for the appointment. Once he arrived, everything worked out well, and he gave a competitive quote for reattaching the sink line. That project is expected to take place next week.

Mike came out to assess a flooding problem that we had in our basement unit. He came out the day after I called him, and spent a more than adequate amount of time reviewing the situation and developing solution alternatives. His suggestion was that we redirect our downspouts, which was a very low cost option to address our problem, and one that did not provide income to him. I appreciated his integrity and responsiveness. He also looked at a few other plumbing problems I had and gave me some on-the-spot verbal estimates.

The owner responded immediately to my call, and was here in 20 minutes. Was thorough, clean, professional. Explained options clearly.

I called several Angie's List plumbers to ask for estimates. They were all just about within the same price range and they were all reasonably responsive and helpful. But Mike was noticeably more helpful with information on how to solve our problem, he seemed to have a better grasp of the options, and he was more willing and able to answer follow-up questions we had. When he came to do the work, he was courteous, friendly, and professional. He assessed our situation and showed the same kind of knowledge and professionalism he exhibited on the phone. And like all good contractors he made sure the place was as clean when he left as it was when he arrived. We're glad we found him and would use him for our future plumbing needs without hesitation.

Another plumber refused to even test an abandoned old pipe that wasn't connected to anything but was in the way of some repairs we were doing. Goode promised not to charge if they were unable to resolve the problem. I called them and the problem was resolved in the matter of hours.

Mike took a look at two bathrooms where we were having leaks. He recommended a tile guy for one of the issues and then took care of the other one. His work was thorough and completed in a timely manner. He was very professional and pleasant to deal with. My initial voicemail message to Goode Plumbing went unanswered, but a second call had a response to me within minutes. I would definitely use Goode Plumbing and Mike again.

Mike was prompt and handled the repairs very professionally. He was very thorough and did a complete clean up following the repair.

Michael Goode was right on time for the review of my problem and the recommended solution. He gave me a fair estimate which was significantly lower than another bigger company which had also made their pitch. He and his associate arrived the next day (on a Friday evening) and worked until the long, tedious job was finished. He then gave me a discount and told me about going to Peoples Gas' website for a rebate form. I cannot say enough good things about the company or Michael. I will use them again.

Mike was very responsive and came when he said he would. Because it was not an ongoing problem and because the hot water heater and the faucet were fairly new, and the pipes showed no signs of problems, he advised that it was most likely an isolated incident where something dislodged inside the pipe. We've used another plumber from the list for years, but their service hasn't been as consistent the past year so we decided to try someone new. I feel confident that we've found the right person.

We had a guest that somehow accidentally broke our toilet tank. Because the toilet and building is old we had a hard time finding someone who would give us options beyond toilet replacement. Additionally, because it is a 10-rough in we were told it would be more expensive to put in a new toilet unless we provided the toilet. And it seemed as though many plumbers were not as comfortable because it was such an old toilet. We contacted Mike the day it happened on Wednesday late afternoon, He was able to come out to the house that night. We touched base on Thursday as to whether we would replace the tank and if there was anything that was available or to replace the toilet. If we had decided on a new tank at that time he could have accomodated us sooner but we opted to wait till Friday so he could check an additional location to see if they had a tank. But because there was not tank immediately available as it is vintage we opted to replace the toilet. We had our concerns over this because it is an old building and there are a number of issues, still Jeff showed up on Friday and contacted us to tell us what time he would be there, was punctual and completed the job quickly and we now have a nice new toilet and it all works and looks great. We appreciate how he accomodated us into his existing workload to complete the work and to do such a nice job and at a very fair price. We will use him ourselves again I would recommend him to others especially if they have an older property with older fixtures.

He blew the sink open as well; he had to use air pressure to get the desired results. Even so, he left it cleaner than it was when he got there. He was very polite as well.

Mike Goode met me the same day that I called to give me an estimate. He was able to do the work the next week. Very professional, excellent work. Left the area very clean. Took the old tank with them, the other company I got a bid from would not take the tank, only put it in the alley. Also gave a 5 year warranty on parts and labor, no extra charge. I will definitely use this company again.

I used Goode Plumbing last year at some point to rod out the drains in our 100 year old home. It ended up being a tougher job than we had expected. He needed to use a more powerful pump than we had originally planned on (financially), but he only charged me for the less powerful one. I also asked him about a leaking kitchen sink. He was very knowledgeable about the different brands of faucets and which ones are more duarable and which ones have parts that are hard to find. He even gave me some advice about installing it myself if I wanted to try it on my own. It was nice that he shared his knowledge about a job that I might have done myself. The next time I called him I was in a rush because we were selling our house and the toilet had a leak. There was an inspection in 2 days. I contacted Mike in the afternoon and he came over the very next morning to fix it. He showed up on time and finished in the amount of time he said it would take. He told me he also replaced the old tube that feeds water to the toilet because it was improperly installed. The inspector would have caught it and I would have had to call him back to put a new one in that was up to code. So that was great. He cleaned up the area he was working in and gave me a nice professional itemized bill. I note that because I have had other tradesmen do work for me and sometimes I get a few words scribbled on a scrap of paper as a bill. Or in some cases, no paper bill at all. He warrantees all his work and so far I haven't had to use that warrantee. I intend to call him to do some work on our new house. He also informed me about a discount he gives users of Angie's List so that I could join and use the discount the next time I called him. He didn't have to do that. I'm really really glad he did! But I would have called him again anyway.

Got this recommendation from my daughter who also loves them. Very nice people, great prices compared to other estimates I've gotten. Direct, no nonsense folks.

Rescheduled appointment for estimate, then reviewed job but never provided estimate. Big waste of time.

Phoned Mike Goode who got back to me in less than 24 hours, was able to make appointment within the next 24 hours. He phoned to confirm my availability. Originally came for 2 repairs, was able to diagnose and fix two other needs in house. All work completed in 90 minutes to my great satisfaction.

Great job, done professionally, in a timely manner. He fully explained the projects to me.

Initially, it was difficult to schedule an appointment for an estimate. Afterward, we found out they are out of their office actually working and are unable to check their email often. There was a mix up on which day Mike Goode was scheduled to give us an estimate. But, when we called him, he arranged to come on that day. He was very patient and thorough. His estimate seemed fair. We decided to use his services and after I obtained a permit (he even helped explain the permit process to me and provided me with the needed paperwork) we scheduled the work to begin. A few days after the tub was set, the surround was not fitting correctly because the tub was not leveled correctly. I called Mike over the weekend and he still got right back to me and tried to find a way to send someone over. We ended up waiting til Monday when they were able to correct the problem. A few weeks later I was able to start using the tub and we found a leak. I again called Mike and he came out the next day to diagnose the problem. It turned out my handyman had put a nail through my new pipe. Even though it was not Goode's fault, he still fixed the problem and only charged me $100. But there were holes in the walls we had to fix (because they were looking for the leak). Overall I am very thankful that I had Mike Goode and his team on my team for this project!
