+ -1 moreFinding Gold Medal Builders was the best thing that happened to us on this project. Leo was not hired as the general contractor (I was, theoretically) but he certainly acted as the general, to our great benefit. He recommended other excellent contractors in the other trades, scheduled most of them so that they didn't interfere with each other, and generally supervised their work. Leo gave us great advice and a couple of times prevented us from making mistakes that would have caused problems in the future. On top of all this, his prices were low, he completed all his work in a timely fashion, and was generous in dealing with extras that were added to his task list as the job progressed. We simply can't say enough good things about our experience with Gold Medal. We have recommended Leo to our friends who have projects.
Description of Work: We are converting a 3-flat to condominiums. Gold Medal did all the interior renovations including moving and removing interior walls, soffiting for HVAC ducting, kitchen remodeling, drywall installation, plaster patching, installing new doors, and various other tasks.

+ -1 moreDealing with Gold Medal in picking out upgrades and finishes was a nightmare. They chose the cheapest finishes they could, ignoring the specifications of the sales contract. They were very unorganized. Many upgrades we picked were messed up. They installed the wrong dishwasher, kitchen sink, and kitchen countertops. After a year and a half, we're still trying to fix problems they are responsible for.
Description of Work: Gold Medal Builders was the builder/general contractor of my new home. They built and then sold the home. I would not hire Gold Medal Builders to do any work. The overall construction quality of the house is poor. I don't think they hired good sub-contractors. The house is one and a half years old and the roof has leaked and doesn't drain properly, the foundation cracked, the brick work already needs to be tuckpointed, a balcony roof was installed incorrectly causing the door to leak, the basement door leaked, the garage leaked, the overhead garage door was installed incorrectly and fell off the track, the humidifiers on the heating/cooling systems were installed incorrectly, the hardwood floors look terrible with bubble marks all over - the list goes on and on.
