GLOVER SHADE CO

I was only moderately interested in a window blind for our bedroom. It was true that the old blind let in quite a bit of light, making it hard to sleep, and also the room tended to be quite cold. I really did not consider myself the type who would purchase a custom window treatment, but I just happened to be right at Glover Shade. So, I mentioned my situation to Dan Swift, the man in charge of the operation there. As someone who is quite involved in technology, I was amazed at the amount of technical information Dan shared in a really professional and friendly way about blind options. There is a lot more to blinds than I realized, and based on his competence as a blind professional, I highly recommend consulting him for any of your blind needs. I ended up purchasing a Hunter Douglas blind. This was quite awhile ago, and I was just thinking about what a wonderful purchasing experience it was. To the best of my recollection it was an 'Eclipse' fabric and it is an insulated blind. The eclipse fabric is just amazing. At first I felt like a blind man in my room, but really appreciate the complete darkness and ability to sleep well. I can go in the room in the daytime with brightest sun beating in the window, but the room is really dark, the way I want it to be - a huge improvement over the old venetian blind I had in the room. With the Eclipse material, Dan recommended it also be an insulated model to address the coldness issue. Having and insulated blind has made a huge improvement in the room's comfort. With the old blind, the metal material it was made of would get cold from the cold window, and your body would just lose its heat really fast as it radiated away from your body to the cold blind's and window's surfaces. After eplaining this comfort issue, Dan immediately told me about this insulation feature that was available. I then measured my window per Dan's instructions, and he had the blind fabricated for me. It fit perfectly and also has a really nice pull cord that you just pull a few times to open it with. Then, you can release it to have it automatically lower. This pull cord retracts up high, and as such is child safe, something we really value now with small children around. I understand Dan goes out in the field, looking at projects for people and measuring things. So, if you have a large project, you probably don't have to do that yourself. Because I only had one window I was doing, it wasn't a problem for me to do this myself. I installed the blind myself as well, but it appears they have a competent crew that will do that for you as well.
