Geek Squad - Best Buy

I had to get AT&T out here. The part that connects my fax machine to my phone and to the electric wall outlet on the machine I installed broke. The machine is an Epson workforce 840 all-in-one printer. AT&T told me the part is broken and cannot be fixed. It has to be returned. Best Buy had originally installed it. The machine is not reliable, and I would tell people to stay away from it. Best Buy is not easy to deal with. I paid for the Geek Squad to come out. The first guy was terrible. The second guy was very good, so they’re very inconsistent in their service. I didn’t think they were very knowledgeable about their products. I went to one in Palm Desert, California recently, and they were very good, so I guess it just depends on which store I go to. The machine was on sale. I would go to Best Buy again, but a different one.

They actually fixed it for free which I thought was very generous. They did the assessment and I did not buy my computer from them. I bought my computer from a different location but I would have had to have mailed it to Texas to have it assessed to find out what the problem was. I walked into Best Buy and I guess they saw my frustration. They said they don't usually do it unless I had bought the computer from them but they ran a scan to let me know what was wrong with my computer so I could make a better decision on what my next step would be. They didn’t end up fixing it because I decided to get another computer, also not from Best Buy, but they ran the scan and gave me information for free. They were compassionate because I was frustrated when I went in. They did a good job explaining what they needed to do and what was wrong with my computer, to someone that is not super tech savvy. They took a lot of time with me for not charging anything. I looked at them for another computer but I actually get a significant discount where I work, but I did compare prices.

I finally dumped my old analog tv and went shopping for an LCD TV and smart blu-ray player that would allow me to dump cable. My sales person, Nestor, was awesome. He didn't try to sell me more than I needed, he walked me through the set-up and recommended various cables. I must say that I was hesitant to go to Best Buy but I was so impressed by the service and the selection that I will definitely shop there again. All the staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful.

Best Buy Store 815 has very knowledgeable staff. Everyone who works there seems to know the pros and cons between different products and are very helpfult in making decisions.

I had flooding in my basement, and 3 computers were damaged. My insurance company instructed me to get "technician's reports" and mentioned Geek Squad. I brought the three computers to Best Buy, and over to the Geek Squad desk and checked them in. Five days later I received email notification that they had been "shipped to the repair location." Now, two weeks later, I'm notified that they are "ready for final inspection and shipment." I'm not even sure what that means, but I'm not happy. In the future I will go to any storefront computer repair shop before going back to them. I love Best Buy for new purchases--they seem to beat anyone else's prices, but the geek squad repair department gets bad marks from me.

It went pretty well. I believe the pricing for installation was somewhat high. I did not want to install them myself & then have them fall out. Everything is working fine. The guy that came out just basically came out & did what he needed to do. I would use them again.

They did a very good job. The guy who came out did very well & explained things to me. The pricing was okay for the installation.

Excellent support from Sales Associate Casey and cashier. Store 814 in Bucktown had called to reserve laptop, as they were out of stock. Laptop was marked and locked with stock and department manager knew where to locate unit.
