Not cut rate, but worked hard and efficiently to keep labor cost down. Very professional and thorough job covering several issues over several days time. Found him friendly and easy to deal with. Will definitely use again if I need more done.
Description of Work: Fix three broken galvanized pipes, replace two water heaters, replace two kitchen sink metal drains and vent pipe (through two floors to basement) with PVC, snake one toilet drain line and fill old unused drain junction with cement, minor change to washing machines' hot water plumbing, replace outside faucet and its inside winter shutoff valve. fix two leaky faucets.

I had a slow draining kitchen drain. The P trap for the sink was clear and I was not able to reach the obstruction with simple home owner tools. Garrity Plumbing was responsive and responded the next day to clear the obstruction. I did not consider this an emergency so a next day service was OK. The actual work took about 15 minutes. The people were professional and the work was done well with confirmation that the drain was flowing appropriately.
Description of Work: Rod kitchen drain.

I hired Garrity Plumbing for an extensive bathroom remodel/expansion. Tom was very responsive, thorough, and knowledgeable. Everyone on the job was friendly and professional, and they did an excellent job on a not-so-simple project. Tom kept me in the loop on any roadblocks and included me in discussions, which I appreciated. And he always walked me through the progress at the end of each work day. They are reliable and honest, and I would hire them again.

it went great. i asked how much it would cost and they said there was no charge because they didn't do anything. but they did! so helpful and i'm very grateful. will definitely recommend for others, and use myself, should the need arise. THANK YOU!!!
Description of Work: two guys showed up this morning (on time!) i thought there had been a leak from my bathroom sink. the panel of my vanity has major water damage. they came in, checked all the pipes, faucet, etc, and assessed that the vanity is actually on a bit of a slant and it's just water from washing my hands, etc, running off the side.

I called Garrity because we had a pipe burst. I had to leave a message, but Heather called me back promptly to let me know that they could come out to my house in the afternoon. Tom called me back also to let me know that he had previous appointments to attend to but he would come to my house afterwards. True to his word, he called to let me know when he was on his way. Luckily the pipes that burst had their own valves and we were able to just turn them off and run water again in the main house.

We first did trouble shooting over the phone. The plumber assessed that there must be a leak in the faucet and that we would need to have it replaced. I had to run to find a new one. I went to look for a Grohe faucet as recommended, but couldn't find any at Home Depot (apparently you shouldn't go to Home Depot for high quality faucets). In any case, I found a faucet, since replacement parts for the faucet are very steep. I was told that it makes no sense to buy a replacement tube. But it was suddenly close to $500 all together for the hardware and the un-install and install. It was ok. I just had no idea that the bill would be so steep in total. I found them knowledgeable and responsive.
Description of Work: The provider removed a leaking faucet and installed a new one. We had a leak in our faucet and had to get it replaced ASAP since it was leaking into our basement. We normally don't work with them, but with Goode Plumbing. They were too booked and so we were referred out. They were responsive (although I had to leave about 3 messages). But we got seen within 3 hours of the call. My only complaint would be the price, which I found steep . But it was an emergency situation and I didn't have the luxury to price shop.

My kitchen sink drain had been draining slowly for a while and kept getting worse until by November 22 it just stopped completely. I disconnected the trap but it was clear so I realized the issue was inside the wall. I tried to clear it using various methods: plunger, boiling water, a "Heavy Duty" drain opener "guaranteed to work or it's free." Nothing worked. I considered renting a power snake from a local home improvement store but I had never had much luck with this approach in the past. In desperation I started calling various plumbers on Angie's List. Garrity was the first one--I got their voice mail so I left a message and a call-back number. I then called four other plumbers and was shocked to find out how much they charged for such a job (in the neighborhood of $200 and up). One was not available until the following week--with Thanksgiving in two days I could not be without a kitchen sink for that long! I finally settled on one of those I thought was the least unreasonable and he agreed to be there within 3-1/2 hours. To my surprise I received a call about 45 minutes later. I thought it was the plumber arriving early but instead it was "Heather" from Garrity returning my call from earlier. She said she had a plumber in my area and he could be at my home within a few minutes. I told her I already had somebody coming and we were about to hang up when I asked her what her firm charged for clearing a stopped up kitchen sink drain. Their price was significantly less (by over $50) than the plumber I had already scheduled. I immediately agreed to use Garrity's services and called back the other plumber and cancelled. About 15 minutes later, Larry arrived from Garrity. I have nothing but praise for him and the work he did. He was cordial, knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. He examined the situation from a couple of different perspectives and quickly decided that rodding the drain from the sink side was the best approach. He also explained where he though the problem lay and why he was taking the approach he did. It took at least three attempts to completely clear the clog due to the way the drain pipe ran from our first floor to the basement. He then reconnected all of the pipes, tested to make sure there were no leaks and cleaned up most of the mess made by clearing the drain. He also gave me some useful advice on how to keep the pipes clear in the future. To re-iterate: I am extremely impressed with the professionalism, knowledge and courteousness of all the people I interacted with from Garrity. I would hire them again and highly recommend them to anyone else needing plumbing services.

Tom Garrity / Garrity Plumbing really was great. I'm remodeling my home, and since I"m not using a contractor, I really value finding someone like Tom, who sees the whole picture, and has very practical advice. Garrity was 1/3 the price of 3 other companies that I had quote (3 other companies were around $5,000)... and about 1/3 less what my on-line research indicated this job would be. One company told me "it's so expensive, it's not worth doing; keep the sink where it is". Apart from moving the sink line, they've done a few other minor things as well, and I plan to only use them for the remaining renovation work. They are so good, they get booked up, but are well worth the wait. They get in, get the job done and get out. I wish every company was like this!
Description of Work: He moved a sink line and hooked it up to the existing buried underground pipe --- at 1/3 the cost that others had quoted.

Quick. Tom got down to business immediately. Thoroughly impressed. I've worked with a lot of service providers and Tom was hands down the best. He's my go-to as far as i'm concerned.
Description of Work: Opened up a clog in the tub pipes. I tried to snake myself without any success. Tom came in and fixed it within minutes. He double checked the drainage, took a look around, and cleaned up the mess. Painless, quick. Maybe 25 minutes.

This company is my new "go-to" company for plumbing issues. I own a 3-flat and home and have a couple plumbing issues every year. This year I had a new tenant move into a 3-flat I own and they called me to let me know the water pressure in the shower/bathtub was very low. When I got there I saw for myself that it was extremely low (like barely flowing out). Garrity plumbing came out with two guys and fixed the issue within 30 minutes. The water pressure is IMMENSELY better than it was. They charged me $95 which was more than reasonable for what they did. I've got a new plumber I'll be calling for anything I need in the future. They proved to me in one visit they are trustworthy and charge a fair price. They also came out next day.
Description of Work: Shower and bathtub at an apartment I own had very low water pressure. Garrity Plumbing fixed the issue very quickly and the pressure is incredibly better.

I was really happy with them. I was really happy the first time I had them. I had a leak in the basement. I had another company come out to give me a price and look at some other things. He left twice and didn't show up. Finally I called and I don't think they even planned on sending him. They had to open up a wall to locate the leak. It was a rotten section of pipe. It is an older house and it has galvanized pipe and they had to remove it and install the copper piping. They did a nice job. The workers were very professional. It didn't take them long at all. I don't think they were here more than an hour and a half. I would recommend them to a friend.

Left message one evening and they returned call next day noonish. Came out a few hours later at the time they promised. Waste no time getting started or doing the work. Professional and friendly. Supplies are on the truck. Clean up... only the shiny new shut off valves would give it away that they were here. No shell shock from pricing. In the tub, the cartridges were replaced... they're difficult to reach due in part to a tub enclosure installed at some point years ago. They installed separate shut off valves for the hot and cold to the washing machine, replacing a basin spigot like contraption original to the house circa 1950. Filling the washing machine with hot water had become very slow in the order of 30 minutes. This is the 4th time I've asked them to come out and do some work. Biggest request... had a new toilet put in earlier this year? seemed pricy and was described as a higher end unit and I would expect to see the water use [bill] go down? both points have proved to be true. With the ceramic tile and the floor unlevel, the toilet is level and the gasket seated and sealed correctly? no sewer smells or water leaking. Other service calls have been for day to day issues. Garrity has been reliable and consistent, and didn't bother comparing prices on this or the previous call with them. I just dialed their number. I admire the way they operate their business, trust them to be in the house, and have seen Mr Garrity and his employees do know their trade.
Description of Work: Repair water supply in tub/shower... Hot not shutting off all the way and cold supply very hard to turn. Ancient googy shut off to Washing Machine... hot supply very slow and actually couldn't shut off the supply when one had to.

Found Garrity on Angie's List. They came out to the house at exactly the time they said they would. The plumber was friendly and professional. He diagnosed the problem quickly, ran out to get the necessary part and returned to install the part all in under half an hour. I was concerned that the job might be made more difficult because the shower hardware was made by a boutique manufacture and not a big name. The plumber recognized the compatible parts right away though. Job was completed quickly and the problem was solved. These guys will be on my list for future projects.

They came out to fix a water issue in our basement. The problem was misdiagnosed and they replaced a motor on our ejector pump. I was getting water in the same exact area a few days later and called to have them come back and check. They came back out and told me that the water that reappeared was now seepage even though it was the same amount as before and in the same exact area. We had 3 inches of rain the past couple of days and there is no water in the area so it definitely is not seepage.

I own a three flat on the north side of Chicago. My tenants in the middle unit were having issues with low water pressure. I also discovered some pipes in this old building that were corroding and starting to leak very slightly. Not wanting to end of with burst pipes later on, I decided to get a plumber in their ASAP. Tom is great. He seems as if he's seen it all. He came out with his crew and assess the job and give me a free estimate. He will tell you what he charges per hour ($90) but keep in mind that is for every body that he uses on the job. In my case, it was him and two others. Seeing there were three men on the job, I was not initially happy about that, but was going to see how long it took them. Having more men on the job only benefits me if you get the job done in a much more efficient timely manner than if you had fewer guys. Well it took them two hours to do that job which I thought was rather quick considering all I needed them to do. I figure if 3 did it in two, it would have been the same cost as 2 doing it in 3 hours, so it all worked out. More importantly, though, they did good work. They fixed the water pressure issues and explained to me why it might be a reoccurring issue. Having had several plumbers to give me an estimate, I knew what he was saying was correct. Tom went over and beyond the things I asked him to do to make sure he left my plumbing in better condition than before he arrived on the property. It's little things like that that make you call someone back each time you have a job. They even came out to help me find the source of a leak I thought might be plumbing and showed me where he thinks it's actually coming from. He was right and didn't charge me anything for coming out even though they fixed something while they were there. That being said, one thing that's not as easy is to get a hold of him. They run a small family business and although he does a great job with communication when coordinating a job, he doesn't do emergency jobs. That requires me to add a plumber to my contact book I can depend on for that and on weekends.
Description of Work: Replaced a small section of pipes. Fixed water pressure. Cleared out clogged areas of bathtubs. Fixed stuck shower handle. Examined area that was leaking and helped me identify it wasn't a plumbing issue.

Description of Work: Garrity has been here twice last month for different jobs $100 to clear stair well drain. $225 to find cause of leak (missing caulking and sweating cold water pipes) and replace a faucet. They came to clear the drain the same day we called, because we were going out of town. Only took about 10 minutes with their power router, but it was definitely worth the money. Back in December I had had Garrity Plumbing come out to check on a pipe leaking into the basement from the ceiling. It was determined that the problem was a pipe behind the wall in our first floor lavatory. In order to really assess the situation the wall would have to be opened up for a better look. Because Christmas was just weeks away I put off having the work done until now. On May 12th I finally called them back to get the work done and was pleased to learn that they could come out just 3 days later on May 15th. Tom and his crew arrived at the time they promised to be here, did the job and cleaned up after they were finished. I couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: Opened up dining room wall to locate a leaking pipe, removed the rotten sections of old galvanized pipe and fittings, and installed copper pipes and fittings with ball valve and brass nipple. Also checked for other leaks and corrected hot water pressure in bathroom.

It went great! Tom and Larry are completely professional - and Larry is the fastest walker and worker I have ever seen! When Monday was over I not only had hot water again and a working shower in the Master Bath. They also replaced wax rings and caulked 2 toilets, each took about 20 minutes! I would definitely use and absolutely recommend them!
