Gajda Heating & Cooling

Last fall our 40 years old hot water heating system wasn’t providing enough heat to baseboard radiators in our 12 unit building. Being financially responsible to other owners (we’re self-managed association), I was looking for a solid vendor, who would stand for his word and I found Gajda Heating and Cooling on Angie’s List. Chris Gajda, the manager, diagnosed correctly the problems the first time and his proposal that was in line with previous ones, guaranteed the results of the repairs knowing that our piping is pretty old and could be clogged. Besides tweaking controls on the boiler, a new circulation pump was needed. Jamie, main technician, tried to fix 15 years old pump before buying a new one. After repairs in the boiler room, air pockets were removed from the system, and we were ready not only for coming soon winter then but for the next one later this year. My air conditioning unit was not running properly. No cool air at all. I have a thru the wall heater/air conditioner unit in a 3rd floor condominium. The only way to clean the coils is from the outside. I had contacted at least a half dozen hvac companies and all said they were not able to offer that type of service. Contacted Gajda Heating and spoke to Chris. He was very courteous and professional and assured me he would be able to take care of the problem the same day. Arranged to have him come out that afternoon. Chris arrived and was absolutely the friendliest and most professional person I have dealt with in a long time. He brought a extra length ladder to reach the 3rd floor vent to clean the unit and completed the work promptly and properly. I thanked him for the great service and offered a monetary tip for him but he refused and said to consider him a friend and not a service person. He is without a doubt the epitomy of what courtesy and customer service are all about. The absolute best. Will recommend Gajda to everyone I know, Chris has a customer (and a friend) for life.

Chris is very professional, responsive and most importantly, honest. We first called him last season after having a very bad experience with a heating contractor who damaged the boiler to the point where it was not working one week after the cleaning. We called in Chris who assessed the problem and fixed it so we could have heat that night. Since the part was so badly damaged he did advise us that it may go out again and gave us a few options. On a separate occasion, he also came out when the power supply went out to the boiler and he was able to fix it so that we had heat that evening. This year, we called Chris to perform the annual cleaning. Also, at night, the temperature in the house was lower than the and quot;holdand quot; temperature on the thermostat unless we adjusted the thermostat manually. Also, we could not bleed all the radiators located on the second floor. Chris adjusted the thermostat settings and water pressure and it appears that it fixed the issues. As a woman with limited mechanical knowledge, I know that some contractors could take advantage of people who are sitting in cold houses without heat. Chris is the only person I will call if I have any heating problems. He has been extremely resourceful in solving our heating problems and I trust his advice.
