I asked Four Seasons to quote a Complete furnace-air conditioner-humidifyer package. The Price was one of three quotes that I got, their price was just slightly above our lowest quote but we chose Four Season for their reputation and the reports on Angies list. I asked that they come "the earlier the better" (the window they gave us was 9:00 am to 11:00 am) and the two installers came at 7:30 am (not a problem since we are early risers) and they left at 9:30 pm. The two men were neat, clean, efficient, and polite, the work area was left cleaner than when they started. These men even did some sheet metal work and it looks wonderfull. The onely Cons and they are little things, they did unplug some extension cords and failed to reconnect them.
Description of Work: Complete Furnace, Air-Conditioner, Whole house Humidifier. Replacing the existing 30 year old system. The new furnace is a 80% efficient unit all of it was Lennox Brand.

I started with five bids & narrowed it to three. Four Seasons was the highest but had the best warranty, 12 year parts/labor. The sales rep recommended a Reem air handler and Lenox A/C unit for certain reasons. I told the sales rep that his price was too high but liked the warranty. He eventually came down about $900 so I went with them. I was told that the service tech's would arrive by 11am on Friday, the 16th of July. They showed up at 3.30pm. When I asked why they were so late, they said they were out until 1am the previous night (that morning) finishing a job. A condo owner wouldn't let them go home until they finished the job. That irritated me b/c I had taken the day off to be home for this. I had to make up the day on Saturday at 9am instead. I asked how long it would take to remove my air handler and install the new one and was quoted 8-12 hours (same was told to me by the sales mgr). Considering it was already 3.30pm, I told them they had until 8pm b/c my five and seven year old kids had to go to sleep by 8.30pm and the work required them to be right above the children's two rooms. At 8pm, they started cleaning up and told me they would be back first thing in the morning, around 8am which was perfect b/c I had to be downtown by 9am and leave the house by 8.30am. I specifically asked if they would be the same guys showing up to complete the job and they said yes, it would be them. I asked that question b/c we had a real bad experience with a major plumbing project in April because three different teams from the same plumbing company did not communicate and the job went sour. Next day, nobody showed up at 8am (as promised), 9am or 9.30am. At 10am, I see the van coming down the street. Two new guys get out. I asked what happened to the other team and was told they were assigned another job. So now I have to give the new guys the tour of the area and try to explain what the other guys had done, and I was already one hour late for work. The team leader tells me I don't have enough power in my attic to supply the unit and asked if I was told they would have to punch a hole in the wall and upgrade the electrical. I told him neither the sales rep or the team from the previous day said that was necessary and I said he needed to call someone to get his facts straight. He tried calling the installer from yesterday and after a couple attempts spoke to him on my driveway for ten minutes. Now he understood the air handler electrical had already been converted so no upgrade was necessary and he understood where the other team had left off. I asked him what time he thought he would be finished and he said around 3pm which was fine since my wife, parents, children, and myself had dinner reservations at 6pm at the Four Seasons Hotel to celebrate our anniversary. I went to work (downtown), 2 hours late. At 4.30pm, my wife called and said they were still at the house and didn't look close to finishing. We were told they needed another 2-3 hours. Our options were to have them come back Sunday and risk getting a third, new team and sleeping in the 90+ degree (plus 90% humidity) heat another night (and not knowing what time they'd show up) or cancel the anniversary dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel and have them finish the job. We opted to have them finish the job and canceled dinner. At 6.30pm, they finished. The team leader spent about 15-20 minutes telling me what they had done. I asked him if it was normal to complete a job for a 2? ton unit in roughly 14 hours. He responded (paraphrasing) that it was a tough job. And so, my wife and I spent our anniversary with Four Seasons Heating and Cooling rather than the Four Seasons Hotel for dinner. Nice. What bothers me most was the complete disrespect and lack of consideration for our time, their customer. I took a day off of work and wasted the day waiting around the house for them to show up, I was late to work the second day, my wife had to hang out at the house with the kids until 6.30pm, and we missed an important dinner that I had planned since April. We got late service on Friday b/c another customer monopolized their time on Thursday. That problem became our problem. But I don't blame the other customer. This is all the result of poor management decisions, specifically the person who assigned the two teams. The person who assigned the first team had to know they were coming into work late and they wouldn't be able to complete the job in one day. They should have assigned another team. I should have received a call with an explanation, an option to reschedule or another team should have been assigned. Then, assigning a new team with no knowledge of the job already done was mistake #3. Working thru our anniversary dinner was problem #4. And #5 was no follow up. We have not received a single call asking us about the service or apologizing for the 14 hour job. The unit has worked great since the install. The 12 year warranty is not a slam dunker though. I have to get routine maintenance on the units every year and save the receipts. If I cannot produce the receipts showing I've had routine cleaning service on the units each and every year, the warranty is void. So that should cost me about $80 a year even though i don't see why a new unit should need service for it's first three years. Four Seasons Heating & Cooling sold and installed the units properly but their utter lack of respect for customer's time and lack of follow up encourage a C rating from me. I've received better customer service from my regular service provider but I didn't go with them b/c their warranty was only 3 years and they were $200 more. Four Seasons though, will come out on holidays and weekends at no additional cost which I thought was a great deal too. I thought that maybe b/c they are such a big company, they had lost focus of what is important to their customers however, less than 12 hours after I first submitted this report on Angies's List, Larry from Four Seasons followed up with me and apologized for the punctuality problems and agreed they could have and should have done better. He had already spent the morning conducting a full investigation into the issues I had. He offered me compensation in the form of service for the next ten years! He told me that Four Seasons takes pride in making every customer happy. Even though there were missteps, he took the time to read this report, investigate, then call me on three separate occasions to insure I was satisfied. So I can honestly say if a problem happens, they will take care of it and make it right. Because he responded in under 12 hours, I upgraded the punctuality score, responsiveness, and professionalism by one grade each and overall score was adjusted as well because although vendors will make a mistake, how they respond to it says a whole lot about how they really conduct business and I would recommend them b/c if a problem happens, they will make it right and that is hugely important. Four Seasons really does believe it is important to listen to their customers and keep them happy. For that, I will go back to them every time.

Got a second estimate. Lo and behold - it was a broken wire - fixed for $75. I know I need a new system - but I will never deal with this company again. I am satisfied with the outcome.
Description of Work: My air conditioning went out - they came out very quickly - I was impressed. They claimed I needed a whole new unit - it would take at least $1500 to fix the old one. After my less than stellar report, the company has apologized profusely and has refunded my money for the service call. I am satisfied with the outcome.

I called Monday and they were able to schedule me for Wednesday between 8-1 which was very helpful. The service person called to let me know he would be there in approximately 45 minutes. He showed and explained to me what he did and gave me tips on my furnace filter and my ac unit outside. I am very happy with 4 Seasons all around and will definitely use them again.

It did not go well. Around 4:00, Joe arrived and gave me an estimate for the work. He was polite and thorough in his explanation. While we thought the price was extremely high (based on everyone we spoke with about it, we were expecting $600-$800), we did decide to go with the company based on the above reasons. In addition, they offered a warranty and were available 24 hours, including holidays. We signed the contract with Joe. When the installers first arrived around 6:30 PM, I had run to the store to get some things we needed as we were cleaning out the basement after the flood. The first installers were rude to my partner who opened the door for them and let them begin working. When I did arrive, they were in the process of draining the old tank. They did not replace any of the piping above the tank as I had been told they would and they only put the tank on 2 cinder blocks instead of 4. When I asked them about that, they provided an excuse about the height on the ceiling and safety. They completed their work and left at 8:30 PM. At 9:30 PM, my partner and I were getting ready to go out (we had bought tickets to a show that night), when a beeping sounded. It was the carbon monoxide detector. We immediately got our pets out of the house and called Four Seasons who told us that they would send someone out to us, but there might be a charge. We also called Nicor. My partner was feeling dizzy, so Nicor called the Fire Department. When the Fire Department arrived, our CO level was at 24 (over 10 was dangerous) throughout the house. Nicor arrived and confirmed this reading. As the Fire Department began to air out the house, Nicor determined the cause of the problem. The hot water heater unit was leaking at one of the soldered joints and the pilot light to the unit inexplicably shut off after ten minutes meaning that CO was being pumped out, but there was no pilot light to burn it up. In addition, the Nicor rep, FD rep, and my neighbor (an electrician) all explained and pointed out to me the numerous problems with the installation that I had not seen previously. Bottom line: The unit was bad and the installation "was atrocious". At 11:15 PM, the Fire Department finished its work and we were allowed back in the house. At 11:30 PM, Nicor completed its work and left. At 11:45 PM, the Four Seasons rep arrived. My neighbor and I explained to him what the problem was and he agreed that a new unit as needed and the installation was not done properly. In order to get the new unit, he had to contact 2 managers at 11:30 at night in order to get permission to allow it. After this finally happened, he left. At 12:45 AM, the next crew arrived to install the replacement unit. Having had all of original installation the errors explained to me by Nicor, the FD, and my neighbor, I pointed out to Jaime and Benito exactly what I expected at the end of the installation. At 4:30 AM, the crew was finished and the work was satisfactory. During the process, my partner and I had several damages totaling $1142.89. This does not include the hot water heater. I contacted the company to receive fair compensation for what we were out, and after having spoken with the Vice President (who was very apologetic and polite), it became clear that we would not get what we were asking for. We asked for half of the cost of the installation (a total of $585) to help in covering the costs that we were out. His final offer was $250 and some free furnace cleanings. Needless to say, we were not comfortable with their techs coming in to work on our hot water heater anymore, let alone out furnace! And everything we went through, $250 was really an extreme slap in the face. After speaking to an attorney, he explained that based on the Four Seasons offer, unless we sought damages for the full $1142, it really would not be worth it after court fees, his fees, etc. I did not want the full amount, as I realize that the company did ultimately supply us with a working water heater installed the way they were contracted for. We elected not to pursue legal action at this time, although we are very angry that this water heater essentially cost us over $2200. Do NOT use this company. I would not wish them on the most evil of people. While the management may be polite, and salesmen might be fantastic, you apparently only have a 50/50 shot at having a good installer. And in this case, it could have easily lead to death.
Description of Work: We contacted Four Seasons after the pilot light on our hot water heater did not light following water in our basement due to drain off backup. We were told that whenever the pilot light gets water on it, the entire unit must be replaced. Estimate was $1170.00 for a new water heater including installation of unit, new copper fittings, and 4 cement cinder blocks to raise the unit higher in case of water again. After much deliberation, my partner and I decided to have the work done, even with the high price, due to the fact that the company could complete the work that day and came so highly recommended by one of our neighbor's.

My family and I arrived home Saturday evening, August 14, 2010 to the smell of gas. I turned off all our appliances, and air conditioner and quickly called our gas service provider. They dispatched a technician who identified and turned off the source of the gas leak at our hot water heater and furnace. After the technician left, we tried to turn on our air conditioner only to find it would only blow hot air. We had planned to replace our hot water heater, air conditioner and furnace one-by-one later this year, but they decided to beat us to the punch and retire early. Sunday morning, August 15, we called Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning. A live human being (not automated voice mail) answered and immediately put us in touch with Dennis. Dennis triaged our situation over the phone and scheduled a meeting at our home at 7:30 am the next morning to discuss product options and to get an actual look at our old HVAC system and water heater. Dennis arrived ON TIME (very rare but VERY welcome and appreciated.) He was knowledgeable, honest, professional and respectful. He explained everything, using terminology that my wife and I understood, and recommended products that would suit our home and lifestyle now and in the future. Dennis also informed us of all the cost saving options we could take advantage of. After my wife and I decided on an HVAC system and water heater, we scheduled to have installation preformed Wednesday morning, August 18 at 7:30 am. The installation technicians, Miguel and Fernando, arrived ON TIME. They were professional, and respectful of our home and stayed until the job was finished at 12:30 am Thursday morning. There were a few unexpected situations -- as is the case with any work preformed on a home -- but we were kept informed of incidents and job progress which made us feel very comfortable. When the work was finished Miguel asked if I had any questions and made sure I was aware of the functionality of the new system before he and his team left. Miguel and Fernando cleaned up before they left leaving my basement and back yard NEAT AS A PIN AND CLEAN AS A WHISTLE! My God, if all companies were as professional as Four Seasons they’d have some competition, but as far as I’m concerned they don’t. Four Seasons is the VERY BEST. Punctuality, professionalism, service and respect is as (or more) important as the actual purchased and Four Seasons is spot on. Four Seasons helped get us back to a normal way of life in a matter of 3 days from initial contact to finished job which is unheard of and rare in this day and age. We’ll be customers as long as we own a home in Illinois.

BOTH of the air conditioners in our house managed to fail during the recent VERY hot weather. The temperature in the upstairs bedroom was 95 degrees! (The second floor is on a separate system from the first floor.) I called Four Seasons because they're going to be installing a new furnace and condenser on the first floor (which I'll report on later) and felt the company would do a good job, based on other reports here. And they certainly did. I called them just before 4:00 PM; they said they would have someone at the house between 4 and 8. About 30 minutes later Miguel called to tell me he was on the way, and he showed up soon after. He was very thorough, checking every possible problem, including removing the thermostat and checking it with a meter. He looked to make sure the filter wasn't clogged. He then went outside and opened the condenser, which we could see immediately was clogged with a substantial layer of dust and dirt. He cleaned it thoroughly with a solution he had with him, then borrowed the hose to wash it off. Then he hooked up the Freon tank and gauges and found that the system was VERY low on Freon, which was why it had been getting steadily worse (we didn't notice any problems last year since the summer was relatively mild). It ended up needing three pounds of Freon! It was expensive at $85 a pound, but I had done some research ahead of time and knew that was the going rate, so I was expecting it. Within a few minutes after starting to add the Freon, the temperature inside dropped by 11 degrees (and kept dropping all night until it was at the setting I wanted). Miguel explained everything he did in advance, and gave me some really good advice on how to keep the system maintained. He made sure I understood that recharging the system might not be a permanent fix, since there might be a leak in the line and the Freon might leak out over time. I decided to try just the recharge; if it doesn't hold, I'll have them do a leak test (which is something you don't do lightly--he told me it would cost $795). He spent about two hours here, making sure everything worked perfectly before he left. Every time Miguel came into the house (which was quite a few, going back and forth), he put on paper booties, which he removed before going outside. I appreciated the courtesy. And he was a great guy, very friendly. He didn't seem to mind that I hung around looking at everything he was doing; I was trying to learn as much as I could to prevent the problem from recurring. I was extremely pleased with the service I got from Four Seasons and am looking forward to getting our new furnace installed tomorrow. If that experience is anything like the repair, they'll have my business from now on.

Our AC system broke down during the high heat of July. Our HVAC had been on my list of ?to dos? for a couple of years, but as long as it worked ok, it never rose to the top of the list. After 30+ years, it finally gave up the ghost and it was time to replace it. Our house was miserable! I called in my regular HVAC contractor to have them come out and give me an estimate. I also called Four Seasons. While I am not a previous customer of Four Seasons, their name & logo had been bombarding me lately. From seeing them listed in the recent Crain?s Chicago Business list, on the boards at the Blackhawks game, and the flyers that show up in my Nicor bill. Perhaps the most memorable impression is the ?Your Wife Is Hot? billboard on 294! I also consulted with Angie?s List and they were rated highly enough that it was pretty obvious I should have Four Seasons come take a look. I scheduled an appointment and Dennis DeRosa was able to get out right away. He assessed the situation, explained and educated our options and gave us an estimate to replace our whole system. Ironically, my other contractor was also quoting Lennox equipment also, so I was able to compare the two estimates well. Four Seasons was less expensive, but was also quoting some more standard equipment. Since this is a long term proposition, I wanted to ?do it right? and Dennis was very helpful, straight forward and trustworthy. We were able to come up with a system that met my goals and would provide years of reliability, while saving energy costs along the way. When comparing a true apples to apples, the pricing was somewhat comparable, but there was a big difference in the 10 year maintenance plan and the 15 year parts & labor warranty. I gave the benefit of doubt to the other guy and decided to give him a ?last look?, based on our history. He said there is no way he could match these benefits and the equipment needed would take a few days to get, as they did not normally stock the Signatue Series line. Dennis knew ?my wife is hot!? and assured me he could get the job done. Cut to the chase - we scheduled the work, and the equipment arrived a day later. The install crew, led by Joe, was capable, dedicated and relentless! Our house was 94 degrees that day and the crew was determined to get the job done. They literally worked all day and night and finally got off the site in the wee hours of the morning. The crew of three started about 8:30am and finally completed the job about 1:00 am the next morning. Their efforts were above and beyond and were certainly appreciated. As is the case with most Angie's List customer, I am pretty picky an often hard to please. I am almost looking forward to winter to try out my new furnace. It is about twice as efficient as my old beast and I am expecting this system to pay for itself in about 6 years if things go as expected. Obviously, I am very pleased with Four Seasons and would recommend them highly!

Very happy with the service. They setup the appointment the next day and he was prompt and courteous and helpful to deal with. Would highly recommend. He explained in detail what he found on inspecting the unit and checking the functions.
Description of Work: The switch on the outdoor AC unit was showing significant wear and he replaced that- ($270). I signed up for the service contract for $149 and got the AC inspection for free. I also get a heater check this fall for free. It is a good deal and Daniel was extremely nice, helpful and articulate about what he found inspecting the unit. I called for a maintenance check after seeing the reviews here. He also blew out debris from around and under the unit and used water after we discussed the chemical alternative which I did not want.

We are dissatisfied with what appears to be an "oversale" of equipment too powerful and therefore inappropriate for our two bedroom condominium unit of approximately 1,800 sq. feet. When units are on, the airflow they generate is so powerful that it blows drafts from all ducts and sounds so noisy that it competes with the sound of the jet aircraft flying over as we are fairly close to O'Hare field! As we let it be known from the start that we wish a quiet, constant airflow -- whether heat from the furnace or cool air from the air conditioning -- the overpowering drafty and noisy airflow is disconcerting and causing me to lose sleep from the noise. They sent a service man to quiet down the airflow which seemed to work temporarily, but it evidently caused the system to shut off entirely from running so quietly. So they sent another service person who inceased the flow again to an unacceptable flow and noise level. We are very disappointed and plan to call the Lennox furnace company representative to try to persuade the factory rep to examine the entire situation. We frankly feel that we were oversold units too powerful for our needs.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced current equipment with entirely new furnace, central air conditioning system and central humidity control system.

My old A/C broke down on July 4th, I called Four Season's on the 5th. I chose them because they charge the same no matter when you call them. A serviceman came out and said that I had no coolant in my system, which we suspected. He then gave me three choices 1)find and fix the leak and put more coolant he said it would be $2500 2)Just put in the coolant 3)New unit. I picked 2 only because I thought I would hold out to get a new unit. So he went out to his truck to get the coolant which he told me would be $85/lb. Also he told me my unit would probably need 7lbs. At the end of he put in 13lbs and I got a bill for around $1200. I was shocked to say the least but just thought oh well. He came about 10am and by 4pm my place was still 83 degrees. I called Four season's again and explained the situation. The were very nice and sent someone out. This service man came out and right away looked at my unit and said the compressor was shot. So I basically spent $1200 dollars for nothing because the unit was broken and putting more coolant wouldn't do anything. He immediately realized that the fault was with the other service man and called the company. The told me that my entire bill from last time could be put towards a new unit. Although the second repair man was very nice and knowledgeable I felt I was really caught in a tough place. I didn't want to use this company anymore but if I didn't I would loose a lot of money. So basically based on other reviews it seemed like Four season's is very comparable in price to other places, so I decided to go with a new unit. They came out the next day to install it. Actually currently installing it. The workers are very kind and seem to know what they are doing. My father (an engineer) came over and they went out of their way to let him know what they were doing. After I told them what happened the further informed that my old unit could only hold about 4lbs of coolant. I honestly have mixed feelings about this place. I kinda feel like it is luck of the draw. If you get a good service person you are golden otherwise you maybe screwed. So I don't know if I would use them again, although now it seems since I bought my unit from them I will have to.

The salesman who gave us the quote offered several choices and explained which ones would meet the Federal requirements for the tax credit. After obtaining quotes from other dealers we chose the lowest priced model. Once we made our decision they were able to schedule installation the following day. It took a day to remove the old a/c, make needed modifications with the furnace, and install the new unit. I am rating the quality as a B because until we've gone thru a season or two it will be difficult to know how it performs. The company sent an inspector to review the installation about a month after the work was done and everything was in order. All of the workers were knowledgeable. My only complaint is that both the salesman and one of the installers told us that the company would take care of registering the work online to qualify for an extended warranty, but this turned out not to be the case. When I went online with Lennox to register myself I found that I needed a coil number and it took a few days to get this from Four Seasons. Their sales manager called us back several times apologizing for the delay and for the miscommunication. One of the reasons we went with Four Seasons is their offer of a 15 year guarantee and 24/7 service with no surcharge for "after hours" - time will tell if they live up to this, if we ever need "emergency service."

Our a/c unit was not cooling properly so we had Four Seasons come out to see what the problem was. I called them up and they gave me an estimated time to arrive at location from 8 -1 p.m. They arrived at 1:15 p.m. and the technician arrived to look at the unit. The first thing he told me was that it is at least 30 years old and most likely will want to be replaced within the next few years. We told him the problem we were having which was the unit was not cooling properly anymore and might be in need of refrigerant. He checked over the unit, came downstairs to check the furnace and mentioned that the furnace is only about 10 years old and was very clean on the inside. I was happy to hear that and surprised that he looked at it considering he was just called about the a/c unit. After discussing with the tech that there might be a leak, we decided to purchase a 1 year maintenance agreement on the a/c unit because the discounts added up and the refrigerant discount was worth the money. There was a problem with our compressor overheating and he took some steps to try to get the refrigereant into the unit. After a couple of attempts he was able to get the compressor working again and add the refrigerant. All in all it was a great job, he tested the vents for temp readings before and after, the readings before were at 69 degrees and after it was at 55 degrees. WOW what a difference 15 degrees makes when trying to cool your house.
Description of Work: Serviced central a/c unit at home, provided maintenance contract for 1 year and service check.

I called them for an estimate on a furnace and for duct work to contact the rest of the system to the additions. He went down into the crawl space and looked at the furnace and measured the rooms. He determined that we had more than an adequate number of BTU's. Another company had told us that we needed a new furnace. John was fantastic. He was so honest and forthcoming. Unfortunately, they do not do partial duct work so they can not do this project, but I will definitely work with them whenever possible. They didn't even charge us to come out. They come when they say they are coming, they are clean and professional and just all around fantastic.
Description of Work: We are insulating 2 rooms that are attached to our house.

I had a couple of companies come to give an estimate and almost decided to go with a Carrier dealer. However, a friend of mine told me that he had his furnace replaced by Four Seasons last winter and had a very pleasant experience. So I called Four Seasons and they were able to send someone the next day for an estimate. The sales person, Walter Obrochta, called very courteously before his arrival. He was honest and answered my questions patiently. He presented me all the rebate options right away so that I could make an informed decision. He was also able to match Four Season?s price with one given by another company. In addition, I was given a 15-year service certificate. So I decided to go with Four Seasons. Walter also made sure that I had experienced installers for the equipment. The installation took place on May 26. Four Seasons sent a four-person team led by Frank and Dariusz. All of them were very friendly. As a savvy researcher, I asked a lot of questions and they answered my questions patiently. They also kept the house clean. All went well until the test of the thermostat. Apparently, the thermostat I ordered (called I Comfort) is very new on the market and the installers had little experience with its set-up. So we were stuck there for quite some time and it was pretty late and there was anxiety on both sides. Finally, they were able to make the thermostat communicate with the furnace and AC, but not the humidifier also newly installed. The installers told me that a supervisor would come to check the thermostat the next day. The story afterwards is long. But long story short, I had to make three other appointments between installation and service departments to finally get the thermostat set up correctly. Serviceman Jimmy came twice and he told me that he did some research on the internet before his second trip. He also tried to call Lennox tech support. He was capable and persistent. Overall, my experience with Four Seasons has been favorable. I do not blame them for not knowing more about the thermostat. The only thing I am not totally happy with is that I have to become my own case manager for the thermostat set-up after the installation. I made the appointments, follow-up, confirmation of the appointments, and certainly there has been a lot of waiting time for each appointment.
Description of Work: I was told by another service company that the heat exchanger on my furnace needed to be repaired and that alone would cost $3000 (which I seriously doubt). That’s another story. Given all the credits and rebates going on, I decided to replace my heating and AC system.

We were very surprised when Four Seasons said they could come two days after we called to schedule the appointment. They gave us a five hour window (1-6pm) and called to confirm that morning that they would call when they were on their way. At 6:30pm, still no contact from the serviceman. I contacted the office and they said that we were still on the board and things were a little backed up because of the high demand. At 9pm, the serviceman calls to inform us that he was on his way and would be there in 45 minutes. We informed him that was unacceptable. Who sends their service men out on a non-emergency call at 10pm? All Four Seasons needed to do was contact us when they saw that they were running behind and offer to reschedule at our convenience. The office workers making the appointments were very responsive and professional but it is obvious they are scheduling way too many calls in a day to adequately serve their customers.
Description of Work: We just purchased a house that has dual heating/cooling and one of the AC units is missing. We contacted Four Seasons to provide two services: 1.Check the system that is still there and perform routine seasonal service before we turned it on and 2. assess our needs for the missing AC unit and make a recommendation for our needs.

They cancelled my appointment without notice and never showed up.
Description of Work: This company was recommended by another owner in my building, but my experience was very different than his. I've had only bad experiences with Four Seasons. I called them yesterday for tune-up and to fill up the coolant in my a/c. They made the appointment with me for today from 1-6. They called yesterday while I was on a business call and they did not leave a message, so I assumed it was just a reminder. Today I called them to see if they had a better idea of when the service person would be here and I was informed that my appointment had been cancelled due to priority service calls. I took the day off, now have to call someone else and take additional time off from work. Today it is going to be 85 degrees and I have non-functional a/c. I see that other people have complained about their scheduling, customer service and preparation as well. They also add everyone to a junk mailing list even if you cancel your appointment. I have been trying to get off their mailing list for several months and they are still sending me advertisements.

Response from Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning
There are several inconsistencies in this story which we would like all readers to consider before making a decision whether or not to do business with Four Seasons. Firstly, the member claimed that he has “had only bad experiences with Four Seasons.” The member has had no prior service history or record whatsoever with Four Seasons. We have never been to his home and have never provided a service to him of any kind. Additionally, we have no such thing as a “junk mailing list”. This is simply a fabrication as such a list does not exist. The member did have an appointment with us for us to come and perform a Precision Tune-up on May 25, 2010. With the near record-breaking temperatures that arrived early in Chicago on May 23, 2010, we preemptively called The member on May 24, the day before his appointment, to reschedule his Precision Tune-up because we were over capacity with emergency service calls to customers who had no air conditioning whatsoever. We most certainly did leave a message as we always do. The member did not indicate at anytime during his initial call to our offices that he had a problem with his air conditioner. In fact, the scripts that our Customer Service Representatives follow specifically ask each and every caller if they are experiencing any problems with the air conditioner. Had the member told us that his system had no refrigerant he would have been booked as a service call and would certainly have received service on May 24 along with all of our other customers who required an emergency service call. Lastly, when we noticed that the member placed this review on Angie’s List, our Customer Service Manager immediately telephoned him to apologize and to explain that if he had an emergency service need we would certainly come, but we were promptly cut off and hung up on.

How did it go over all ? I sweat-ed my brains out for an extra night. I don't like sweating. As of June 1, 2010 They called me and wanted to make it right, so they contacted me and sent a check for the bill from the other company. I guess they are serious about keeping their customers.
Description of Work: Air conditioner died Sunday PM. Called Four Seasons Monday 8:00 AM. Said someone could make it between 4:30 and 9:00 PM. That was perfect for me. Waiting, sweating in my house, I got a call at 6:30 PM. They cannot make it out until Friday. If they would have let me know earlier, I might have been able to call someone else in. Called someone else, and they were there at 11:00 AM Tuesday.

Overall was very happy and would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Came home late after midnight and had no heat. Response from Four Seasons was less than 2 hours. The igniter was bad. Luke was our service man, he had the part and was able to fix it on the spot. We had just moved in the house and system had never been cleaned. Provided a cleaning of the system while he was there. We were happy with the service and did a service agreement with Four seasons. Had them out 5/20/10 to do a spring cleaning of our air conditioner. The service men are cordial and informative without being pushy. It's nice to find a contractor you feel you can trust.

We had had Four Seasons out to repair my parents' heating unit a couple of weeks earlier, and the technician had really done a great job. So we called them again to come out to check on and service my parents' ancient central air conditioner. The technician determined that there were a number of serious and expensive problems. My Dad decided that it would be just as well to get a new unit as to fix the old one. They came the next day and completed the installation (that was the day it was storming on and off) in about four to five hours, replacing the thermostat, electrical wiring and running new copper tubing, etc. It's working beautifully, and I'm feeling confident that my parents won't have a problem with failed air conditioning in scorching heat, like they did last year. And I'm hoping their electrical bill will be lower too! Their service technicians are great. They were courteous and professional, arrived in good time, knew their stuff and cleaned up after their work. I would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: checking old A/C (also heating) unit; installing new unit (including electrical, thermostat, copper tubing and connections) and completing boiler update to accommodate new unit.

I called the company this spring to schedule the technician to come and turn my air conditioning unit back on. They scheduled me for a 5 hour block appt. between 8 am - 1 pm. The technician called around 12:45 pm informing me he would be here in about 20 min. Upon arrival, he informed me he could not do anything since he did not have a ladder to get to the air conditioner. After waiting 5 hrs. I had to call the company again to reschedule another appt. They promised that the next appt. I would be the first appt. of the day so I wouldn't have to wait 5 hrs again. On the second appt date, the technician arrived after 2 hrs. from the start time of my appt. only to tell me he did not have the correct ladder needed to get to the air conditioning unit and that another technician was suppose to be on his way but it would be another hr. I waited another hour for the him to arrive and still no one came. This company clearly has no regards for their customers time. They are completely ill prepared for the work that they supposedly are experts in. On two occasions, they came unprepared and wasted hours of my time; I have never dealt with a more incompetent company as this.
Description of Work: I had to replace my entire furnace unit. In doing so, the technician turned off the air conditioning unit and informed me they would need to come back in the spring to turn it back on.

This is the 3rd time in 2 years that I have had an appointment scheduled with Four Seasons (for which they give you a 4-5 hour window when they might show up) and for which they did not show up. Each time, I had to make arrangements to be home from work so that I could be there for the entire time, and each time I had to actually call them at the end of the scheduled timeframe to ask why they hadn't shown up. I called and their answer was "well, they're running late and haven't gotten to you yet" (this, after 4 hours of waiting) and that they had called some people to let them know, but not all. So, after 3 times I have learned my lesson and told them that I'm going to go elsewhere for my business. 45 minutes after I have cancelled the appointment and am out for the evening, the technician calls to tell me that he's running late -- so, they didn't even call him to tell him that I had cancelled the appointment. Very unprofessional.
Description of Work: Scheduled an annual A/C cleaning/check-up for the 2 units in my building, also asked that they take a look at the furnace as a precaution since the carbon monoxide detector had gone off that week and, though the gas company did not believe it was due to the furnace, it would give me piece of mind.

Response from Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning
We have attempted to call the customer and have left several messages. We have sent a letter asking for the customer to call us so that we can help. We have not received a response from the customer at all. We are trying to make it up to the customer and don't want to lose a long standing customer. We cannot do that if we cannot communicate with the member. We do work hard at making our customers happy.

There were some minor scheduling issues but they came out rather quickly and to my surprise sent two very well trained young guys whom were very professional. They worked well although the clean up of the olfd furnace seemed to be a problem. It was delayed and had to actually help another person take the old furnac casing out of my basement. But that was OK at the time. My only concern is that i have not seen a 60% savings in my heating bill, so I'm not sure whether that information was accurate. But they do make a good show.
Description of Work: we had a very old but dependable furnace - over 26 years old. I wanted to buy new parts for it and keep it as I was told that the heat exchanger and unit was made of very heavy gauge metal and would last a long time and the rest of the unit had totally interchangeable parts. Upon review by service technician I wa told the the unit was inefficient and I could save on heating bills by at least 60%. Based on this information we decided that we would purchase a new furnace at this high cost, rather than fix the existing one at a relatively low cost.
