They had done our heating before, and they were very good. They were here a long time and they paid attention to detail. They did not leave until the work was done. We wanted to stay with the same company, so we called them. It was supposed to be a very quiet air conditioner. When they were done it was late at night already. The air conditioner was not quiet and I did not see the noise level different. We mentioned it to the person who was installing it. It was cold and not the ideal condition to install an air conditioner. I thought we would have to address the matter in the spring when we actually started using it. That was my only disappointment with them. They had claimed that the unit would be the quietest one, but it was not. He just shrugged his shoulders and went about his business. No one ever called back or followed through.
Description of Work: We used Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning to install an air conditioner.

This was the second company we tried but we were dissatisfied. A salesperson came out to our house and made a lot of promises, but the workers that came out told us that it wasn?t possible so they left. I think the person that would do the work should come to the house for the estimate because this is the second time this has happened to me. They were very responsive and they always called me right back.

The problem began when power was restored after a power outage due to a snowstorm. The house was not warming up. My son-in-law checked it and gave me several areas that could be causing this problem. This was 2/2 late evening, today 2/3 I checked Angie's list and BBB and found Four Seasons which is close and has high ratings. They responded quickly. Service fee was $79.00. The estimate for the replacement was $798 with a service warranty or $650.00 w/o it. The unit was manufactured in 2003. I told him that I needed to check with my son-in-law, which I did. I am handicapped in a wheelchair, retired and caring for a mentally challenged grand-daughter. I HAVE BEEN WIDOWED FOR MANY MANY YEARS AND KNOW ONLY TOO WELL HOW WOMEN ARE EXPLOITED FOR ANY TYPE OF REPAIR. THAT IS THE REASON I JOINED ANGIE'S LIST. My son-in-law contacted someone he knew at another company, called me back and told me to pay the service fee and not make the repair. The other company came checked the blower fan - nothing is wrong with it. They literally tweaked some part and the furnace is working fine. The second company also put in a new thermostat (which I requested) in addition to fixing the furnace and the total was only $150.00. I cannot substantiate any of the stories that they had but among other repair companies FourSeasons is not recommended. I thought that I would advise you that four seasons did contact me on Saturday after reading this report and apologized for the incident and advised me that they would investigate. They called back and said that then repairman legitimately believed that the blower fan was the problem and that he was not trying to rip me off. They further stated that I would be refunded the amount of the service call and again apologized.
Description of Work: The furnace was checked to see why it was not working properly. he did check the A coil to see if it was clogged - it was not . He ran the furnace through several cycles to find a cause for the short four minute cycling of four minutes.. The problem was that the house would not warm up to desired temperature as set on thermostat. He then took off the blower motor and said that that was the problem that it was leaking oil and was operating at higher amps than it should and that was causing the problem and should be replaced along with the capacitor..

It went fine, but there was damage to my wall, floor trim and door trim. It was a tight fit, but no offer was made to repair or reduce invoice to cover repair costs. Quality rep called days later and I told them about it. Had to make another appointment for them to come out and take pictures and fill out a report. It's been weeks and I haven't heard from them. UPDATE: The Home Services Division finally came back out and repaired the damage upon installation. They did a very good job of patching the walls and trim and repainting..

Overall they were very prompt and courteous. The only difficulty was the technician had very basic english skills, so it was difficult to talk about the issue or to get his opinion on how to move forward.

It was good. We had been using another service. They at three in the morning, they have 24 hour emergency service, to replace the igniter. It has been fine so far. They do follow up after they have been here. If it is their fault or a faulty part they do not charge for the service call.
Description of Work: They tuned up our heating system at the beginning of every heating system. It is a standard service. They had to replace the igniter three times. There was something wrong with the circuit board.

I scheduled an appointment with Four Seasons for a Technical Inspection for $79. They were to inspect my system, point out any deficiencies, and advise me of their findings. This was scheduled for an 8AM - 12N window on 1/5/11. I took the day off work, and drove through rush hour traffic (I hate driving rush hour!) in order to keep my appointment. At around 8:30 I was called by a man (sorry, forgot his name) who told me that they didn't do that sort of thing. I told him that I only wanted them to advise me on deficiencies in my system. He replied that they don't know Chicago Building Codes, that they do an install and then fix whatever the Building Inspector tells them needs to be fixed. So this company totally wasted my time, and apparently the time of numerous people for whom a second and third visit is necessary, to 'fix what the inspector tells us to.'
Description of Work: I originally used Angie's List to request to be contacted around Thanksgiving 2010, never heard from anyone. I wrote Angie's List describing my dissatisfaction, Larry from customer service called, smoothed things over, and I was seriously considering making Four Seasons my default heating and air company to service all my rental properties. What happened next, though, totally soured me on the company.

The salesman was honest and knowledgeable. The quote presented was very competitive based on several other quotes. The men arrived on the day and time agreed upon - they were able to accomodate my request for a Saturday installation. The installation was very detailed and the handiwork was excellent. The workers cleaned up after their work. All in all, the job was performed efficiently and neatly. We are very pleased with the new furnace. We also were very pleased that 4 Seasons included the 15 year equipment and service guarantee!!
Description of Work: Needed a new furnace after the original Carrier furnace, installed in our home in 2000, was defective. The furnace developed cracks in the heat exchangers which were either missed or not noticed in previous furnace inspections by the firm that installed the furnace. We used them to clean the furnace annually. Rather than repairing the furnace which already required several repairs, we elected to pursue purchasing a replacement furnace. The quote offerred by the firm that had installed and maintained our furnace quoted us a substantially higher price for a 95% efficiency furnace than 4 Seasons. Per the 4 Seasons representative, the Carrier furnace was notorious for developing cracked heat exhangers as early as 8 years from the start of service. We decided to purchase a Lennox furnace.

This was purchased as an Angie's List special - Fall furnace tune-up. I was somewhat skeptical since they are a large company, the profit margin was low and I thought they would do a quick once over. However, the scheduling was easy, and the service person was prompt, thorough and professional. He took the time to explain the process and I was impressed with their service from start to finish. Definitely would use again.

During a cold night, our furnace stopped working. I called Four Seasons and a technician was here within about 30 minutes. After diagnosing the porblem, he gave me a quote to either fix the problem or to replace the furnace. Although it was more expensive, I decided to go with a new furnace (tax credit & nicor rebate!). The installers were prompt, professional and clean. The next day someone from four seasons called and offered the duct cleaning service at a discounted price. Since I had never done that, I decided it was best to do that as well. Overall, I felt it went really well and I recveived a good value. I would highly recommend them.

Showed up on the property 10 minutes before schedule. Laid down tarps in the interior of the home to collect any debris that fell from the operations performed, and to prevent dirt being tracked in from the outdoors. Made the installations in a professional workmanlike manner. The crew of 3 cleaned up after themselves prior to leaving the premises. The workermen were all clean and neat in appearance and clothing, were very friendly and personable, they all made you feel comfortable in having them on your property and in your home.

Last week our furnace went out in the middle of the night and I called Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning. The service technician arrived at our house in a very timely manner and was friendly and professional. He was even considerate of my sleeping child. It turned out that the motor on the furnace was bad. It cost $400 to replace, which I thought was a very fair price. There was no additional charge for the emergency visit. The service tech had the problem fixed in a short amount of time. All in all, I was more than pleased with my experience with Four Seasons!

The first technician, Ahmed, that came was overweight, and announced that he would not climb his ladder to look at the unit on the roof. The second technician, Leonel "Leo," that came didn't realize that I had a friend who lives in a nearby building. She had a clear a view of him, and she let me know that he ate a sandwich and did not look at the unit whatsoever. However, the second technician had a grand speech for me about how much work needed to be done. They said they put in 2 pounds R22 which is now a banned product that they cannot put into an AC. Leo said booties were worn at all times while in home, and he wasn’t in my home. He was on my roof. What a liar. I called the company to report this liar, and they then sent a third technician. The third technician claimed that he took the unit apart, and that it was leaking Freon. He also claimed that the unit was on its last legs. I wasn't inclined to believe him due to my previous experiences with this company, so I called a different provider. The technician from this more honest company told me that I only needed a $7 belt replaced. Today is June 21, 2011. The unit is working just fine 5 years later. I got charged $119.95 and nothing for the 2nd time. The owner did sound very sincere when explained the situation in the past. I feel I owe it to the owner to share this experience; he didn’t do it to me it was his employees. If he’s interested, I would be happy to take my $130.00 and I would offer to copy my receipts. Yellow should be for accounting, pink should be for customer. So the first guy, gave me the wrong accounting yellow copy 2nd guy gave me the pink color; just another incompetent move.

I had called several HVAC's for estimates on removing our old furnace and replacing with a new SOA furnace & A/C. The salesman from Four Seasons, was prompt, answered all of my questions, and his bid was overall the best. After reviewing the others I decided to go with them and called for an installation date. They set up an appointment for the following week, and arrived within their estimated time frame. They started dismantling our old furnace (a big job), and removed all of the pieces. then started remodeling the plenums to match the new system. The sheet metal worker (Ernesto) was a true artist, I watched in awe as he manipulated large coils of Galvanized sheet and fashioned the new plenums and housings for the A/C unit. They worked two 10-hour and one 5-hour days to complete the job. As I am retired, I pulled up a chair to watch them throughout the process. They were courteous at all times, worked diligently and professionally, and did a neat and complete job. The New furnace was installed and operational by the end of the second day of work. The A/C unit was installed a week later, as they had other furnace requests to attend to. Everything was done according to plan, and the Building Inspector gave it a 100% thumbs-up when he inspected their work. The new furnace has been operational for a month now, and we are very satisfied.

Turned on furnace for heating season, but furnace did not operate. Company came out within 48 hours (it was not an emergency). Showed me how drywall dust had clogged the motor blades due to construction in the unit during the summer. Service person went to warehouse to get new motor and returned within the hour. Replaced motor and performed check and clean on furnace. Pointed out a few other items that should be watched but were not manatory to fix at this time. Professional, neat and timely.

Overall, Fours Seasons did a good job. The reason for the B rating on quality is that they missed a few of the ducts that really needed cleaning. I opened them up and removed lots of debris. The HVAC tech was very helpful and gave me lots of good information about how my heating system works and the required maintenance. We plan to use Four Seasons for future HVAC and duct cleaning work.

The undiscounted price for a furnace tune-up($129) was higher than most($89). That said, their service is top-notch. It did not go well. When my wife handed him an Angie's List coupon that we purchased for their service specifically, the technician said he could not perform all the services he typically does. He also sold me a $200.00 flame sensor which I am not even sure that I needed. I have been using 4 Seasons for over 15 years, and it seems that their service has been deteriorating steadily for some time now. They have become very aggressive when it comes to selling new parts and services.

The motor on my boiler started making an awful grinding noise and a couple of springs popped out. I called at 12.15pm the day before Thanksgiving. My call was taken immediately (no answering machine). I was told same day service was available at normal rates (another company had quoted me $148 for holiday and same day service). I was told the tech would be at my house within 4 hours. At 3.15pm, the tech (Wilson) showed up and immediately diagnosed the problem. He opened up the unit and I could clearly see what he had told me was accurate. He fixed the problem and recommended some other work which I agreed to b/c the price was good. However, I had to leave to go somewhere and the tech told me he would personally come back on the date I wanted him. It was great service fr the phone person to Wilson and the price was fair and reasonable. I'll call them again if my boiler or A/C breaks.

Ricardo first came out on November 13th and checked my furnace. I knew that it was the ignitor b/c I had a friend look at it before I signed up with you and called Four Seasons. My friend told me the part should be approximately $30-$50. After Ricardo did his diagnosis and told me it would cost $245 for the ignitor I was a bit taken back. Apparently that was b/c of their labor costs. I waited to decide to get the furnace fixed by them...I actually went online to see how to do it myself. It seemed like a fairly easy process and would've tried it except if anything did go wrong it would cost me even more. So I called their office and asked your employee (Andrea) if the $79 service fee that I already paid would be applied toward the $245 if I decided to get it fixed through their company. She reassured me it would and that Ricardo would follow up with a call and schedule to get it fixed with me. I received the call in a timely manner. I explained to him that I was told that the $79 would be applied towards the $245 per Andrea at his office. He said ok. After he fixed it he wrote up a bill for $245 (i had paid the $79 a week before). I told him that I had already discussed this with Andrea and him before scheduling the appointment. He kind of made me feel like he was trying to get it from me anyways but ended up saying ok. That was the only thing that I did not like. Otherwise my furnace seems to be working fine. It's only been a couple days so we'll see if all is good in time. I do appreciate your website and I hope to find other useful companies through it. thank you, Robyn

I called them around noon because the other company I had scheduled for that morning didn't show (they were supposed to show between 9 and 11, when I called to ask why they weren't here I was told he would be a minimum of FIVE hours late, then hung up on me when I asked why I had to call THEM to be told that they were going to be so late - absolutely terrible customer service). Since I had already taken the day off of work to have my furnace checked and really couldn't take another one, I took a chance and called Four Seasons to see if I could get someone out that afternoon. Person who answered the phone was really nice and said that although they were really busy that day, she would check and call me back. Called back within five minutes and said someone would be out in the next several hours. She even alerted me to a coupon on their website, saving me $40. Talk about customer service! (especially since my horrible experience with the other company). The technitian called and said he would be there in about 20 mintues. Showed up just over an hour after I originally called. Very prompt, very professional. Put on shoe covers so he wouldn't track dirt into the house. Did a very thorough job and cleaned up after himself. Even took the time to check my carbon monoxide detector and educate me on the ratings. Cannot say enough positive things about the experience!
