Last year I did not have my maintenance done on my furnace and ended up with an emergency call (to four seasons). This year I made sure to get my maintenance visit done. I called and made appointment. The service tech called about 30 minutes before he came. He worked really hard, answered all my questions and was very nice (not a creepy service guy who talks down to women). I had a coupon and after everything was complete - it was the cost on the coupon. No selling me other parts and services or anything like that. And there is a no breakdown guarantee that I hope I don't have to test! This is the 3rd time I've used this company and I'm impressed.

At 6:30pm Ricardo and Maclobio arrived here in Glenview , from the south side, with the furnace, and worked furiously until 12:30am to get the unit operational before the cold night air exerted its grip. This included building a shallow sheet steel cosmetic platform for the furnace, as its footprint was smaller that the old one, and the floor tiling did not extend underneath the old unit, so an ugly cement floor border around the new one would otherwise have been unavoidable. This was a nice free touch! The men worked non stop, as neatly and cleanly as possible, using bootees and drop sheets, and left no trace of their visit apart from the new furnace. All the equipment works fine, as I later told a follow-up caller from 4S customer service. This was a good experience, for which I thank Angie's List - much different from my last encounter with a bad HVAC outfit. Be aware that there are about four HVAC companies calling themselves "Four Seasons". Make sure you call the right people - the only company with an A rating, which I am happy to endorse.
Description of Work: I called in Four Seasons, at 7:00am, for a first time visit, to repair a non-functioning 23 year old furnace. Technician Russell arrived when expected, and spent 2 hours checking it all over, and diagnosing the problem(s). I could see the bill approaching $1000. Russell advised, without pressure, that a new more efficient, quieter furnace, 10 year guarantee, at a cost of about $3,500, might make more sense than patching up such an old one. I asked about a senior discount. He said he could take $200 off, on his own authority. I then checked this website and told him that 4S offers a 10% senior discount, which he then readily applied. (He should have known about the 10% senior discount). There was no charge for the diagnostic service so far, a waiver of $85. I gulped, then agreed to a new furnace for $3,172 all inclusive, which he ordered at about 2:00pm.

The repair portion went very well. They sent a technician out within two hours of my initial call, and he diagnosed the problem and ordered a part for next day installation. The cost was higher than comparable companies, but their reviews were good and I needed to get the furnace fixed quickly, so I went ahead with the repair. I had a problem with the billing that took a week to straighten out. I explained to the company that this was in a condominium that I own but do not live in, so all bills should go to me instead of the tenants who are living there. The first day of the repairs went fine, and the technician called me to charge half of the repair to my credit card. The next day a different technician called me before arriving at the unit and I explained again that he should contact the tenant for access to the unit and then contact me to settle the remainder of the bill. The technician ended up charging my tenant's credit card instead of mine. When I contacted the company to get it fixed, we played phone tag for several days. They would call after 5:00 PM when the accounting folks had already left. I would call back only to be told that the accounting folks had already left. I emailed them in frustration asking for this to be straightened out, and got a voice mail soon after promising that I would receive a call the next morning by 9:00. The next morning, they didn't call. I ended up contacting someone in their accounting department directly and working with them to correct the billing issue. For what they charge, I should not have to hound them as much as I did to correct a simple error.
Description of Work: Four Seasons diagnosed and repaired the furnace in my rental property. They came out the same day I called them and replaced the inverter draft motor (which had seized up) the following day.

From start to finish working with Command Service was a good experience. Steve did the estimate for me. He gave me several options and explained the difference between each model. He looked at the current system and setup, and took measurements needed to make an estimate. I was having problems with a humidifier that was already installed and he gave me several options to correct it. He took all the information gathered back to the office to write up a proposed estimate. His proposal was emailed to me within a couple of days. I had a few questions after we met and Steve answered them promptly and thoroughly. I had three other estimates besides Command Service and decided I was most comfortable with them. Their estimate was in the middle range of the 4 estimates I received. The day of installation started off a little rocky but not because of anything the company did. They were having problems with the truck used for jobs. They called first thing in the morning to let me know what was going on and kept me updated with several more calls. They arrived only about an hour to an hour and a half late, which wasn't bad considering the problem. Once they were there everything went smoothly and quickly. Everything was completed satisfactorily that day except for the final system check because the weather was not warm enough for an accurate check. They will come back next year when the weather is warmer. I also requested that they do the yearly cleaning/maintenance on the furnace. They were happy to do this. I am happy with the work done by Command Service and will continue to use them in the future,
Description of Work: The entire A/C system was replaced. From the connection in the furnace room, all the refrigerant coolant lines inside the house to the air conditioner outside, the pad the A/C sits on, all high and low voltage wiring and the new A/C unit. I also purchased and had installed a new programmable thermostat with an outdoor sensor to control my humidifier. Also, proper Village permit was obtained.

The technician was very professional and thorough. He arrived during the specified appointment time and took off his shoes when he entered, even though I didn't request that of him. He spent a good amount of time testing, cleaning and inspecting the inside of my furnace. When he was done, he showed me specific areas that could become concerns and answered all my questions about areas I was unfamiliar with regarding my particular furnace.
Description of Work: Four Seasons fully inspected and cleaned my furnace. The technician was very professional and thorough. I was very satisfied with the deal and service I received.

Four Seasons showed up promptly and the two-person team performed a fine job. Very professional, clean, informative. Willing to answer all questions. Explained process in detail and made sure I understood everything. The guys removed all vent covers and returns and performed a thorough cleaning. Afterward, they showed me the results in the HEPA vacuum (outside, so that the dust did not get back into the house). Price seems right on the mark for a quality job (as opposed to the $99 "teaser" rates that end up costing $600 or more in the end). Of course, like most of us, I would have been even happier if I'd been able to save another $50, but that has nothing to do with the quality of the job, which was very good. The guys were cordial, polite and efficient. Only minor gripe is that I did have to double-check some areas around the furnace where I found a few sharp screws that must have fallen out of one of the guy's pockets during the cleaning. Not a big deal, but anyone with little kids has to be extra vigilant about stuff like that. Otherwise, a top-notch job by a professional company. Oh, and they did follow up with a call a few hours afterward to ask me how things went.

I was very pleased with the service. They were timely and neat and clean. They were happy to explain exactly what the 20 points were and spent about hour to an hour half ago. He took care of what needed be done. I’ve continued using and I am planning to use them again this year too. But their prices have gone up over time. They came at the time he said and called before he came.

Called to make an appointment. Customer service was excellent and friendly. Technician came out to the house and immediately put on shoe covers. He went down to the utility room and began working. When he finished he advised us that our furnace is getting old, but we should be able to get another year or two. Some parts were starting to show a lot of wear. He did not try to up-sell us on anything - which is appreciated. He was very polite and professional and clean.

I contacted several different companies for replacement of my forced air heating and central air units. The salesman, Garold, was quite professional and knowledgeable. He was able to show me several options that would be suitable depending on my budget. Since I told him I was only going to be in the house for 5 years he didn't try to push a higher cost high efficiency unit explaining that the additional cost would not be recouped in energy savings over such a short time. He also explained that the company will install a flexible chimney liner for the furnace & water heater. I told to him that he was the first bid and I felt it was important that I receive a couple more before making a decision. He was understanding and didn't use any high pressure tactics to get me to sign right away. He didn't have to. The bid he gave was considerably lower than a second bid for the identical make and models, as well as a third bid for comparable equipment. The installers, Brian and Carlos were hard working and careful not to scratch the floors while moving things in & out. Brian explained to me what was being done & why. He was quite patient with my constant interruptions. All told the installation looks very good and runs great! Even the inspector for the building department said the job had been done better than many he has seen. One issue, a minor one, is that the time for the installation was underestimated. I was told at arrival it would be about 11 hours. It took 18. I was getting concerned that I would be w/o heat overnight but they stayed until the job was completed. I think it should have been divided over 2 days. The first day replace the furnace and get it running. Then come back to install the A/C.
Description of Work: Replace furnace, central air compressor, evaporator and refrigerant lines. Fabricate duct-work to fit new units. Install humidifier and air purifier. Install flexible chimney liner for furnace & water heater. Install or modify electrical service as needed. Install drainage pump for condensate. Replace thermostat and humidistat. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and professionalism of Four Seasons, as well as by the range of home services they provide. They really seem to have integrated services and expanded well beyond HVAC. We had some corrosion on the vent from the gas hot water heater and needed this rebuilt. The plumber who arrived, Dave Prutsman, was a real gem. He knew his stuff and was a total professional--from putting covers on his shoes to informing me what he was doing and why. He even offered additional advice about certain aspects of our house plumbing, including a valuable tip about taking steps to prepare the outdoor water lines for winter. He was pleasant, professional and clearly dedicated to doing a fine job. If more people were like him, not only would these home repairs go smoother, but the world would be a better place. We were so impressed by the service that we signed up for preferred membership ($25 for 5 years--a deal) and also scheduled a air duct cleaning for later this month. This seems like a company that can provide us with good service for years to come. That's what we hope anyway, based on this initial good experience. A+

Furnace was out. Called 11 am. Was told someone would be able to make service call between 3-8 pm. Got a call 7 pm ish - was here w/i 30 minutes - and gone by 8:30. The 'A' rating for punctuality was because they at least set expectations they could meet. But I find it odd with 500+ employees, that it takes so long to get someone out to look at a furnace... 'Don' and I didn't hit it off from the beginning. No shoe covers and a real smart-aleck. I have a dual zone system and he asked which one was out. I replied, "The upstairs". And he asks which one and I honestly reply I don't know whether it's the left or right. He tells me to turn them on. I reply they are both on. He shoots me a disgruntled look and says, "Then they're both out." I say, no, the lower one works otherwise the house would be 58 degrees, and instead it's 70. He again asks me to turn them on. I again respond that they are both 'on', it's just that one doesn't blow hot air. At this point it should be obvious that I don't understand his use of the term 'on'. But instead of explaining he wants me to turn the thermostat higher so the one functioning furnace will 'cycle on', he just stands there arguing with me and making snide comments. When I finally understand what he wants, I leave to up the thermostat and my husband takes over. I don't see him again 'til bill time. I was going to cut Don some slack when I found out he had been working for 12 hours straight - but honestly, for a person who does this all day long, he should be used to people not necessarily understanding his terms. Turns out the igniter was dead. He had one in the truck and once diagnosed, it was fixed in minutes. Then I printed out the Angie's list coupon - and found out it expired 6 weeks ago... Don nicely agreed to honor it anyway - and we figured out why later. Bill was $85 for service call plus $223.00 for the part and its install. We were about satisfied with the job 'til my husband looked the part up on the internet and found it's available for <$25. That's an 800% markup. I saw another post about this earlier and now I feel the same. No wonder they graciously accepted the 15% discount - they were overcharging me by a mile from the get go! Bottom line, it was great to get the furnace fixed the same day I called. But the attitude has got to go, and the insane markup is borderline immoral. We'll order another igniter and keep it on hand for next time. I really wonder about all the 'A' ratings - do these customers not know how much the parts and labor should cost? Unless you are desperate and this is an emergency - call another company who won't gouge you!

The salesperson was named Kevin and he was ok, but a little light on the help and information side. He was a bit too "salesy" promising help with the rebates, but then not responding when I asked for help. It took me 3 phone calls to Kevin and also the office to get a clear copy of my contract for the rebates, as the original was scanned/email and it was fuzzy. I haven't gotten my rebates yet from Nicor or Lennox, so not sure if they will even go through - which is worth $1750.00 that I am waiting to get back. So don't believe Kevin when he says he will "help" you. On the other hand, the installers were 2 wonderful brothers who worked extremely hard to do a big job and got it done in one day. They were here from 10:45am to 11:00pm. They were neat and clean and so far everything seems to be working well - but we have not used the furnace yet.
Description of Work: We purchased and had them install a new furnace, air conditioner, and hot water heater. It is high end Lennox equipment and a Rheem tank water heater. We also had them move our outdoor A/C unit to the other side of the house away from our patio and the system required a new horizontal exhaust. We also got a programmable iComfort thermostat and a humidifier.
