The plumber showed up punctually and I went through the house with him to illustrate the problem. We initially thought that the gas line to the second floor had just been turned off, but it turns out that it had been terminated and the meter had been removed before we bought the house (??). Once that was determined, the plumber helped me to isolate the line that ran gas to the second floor. In the course of doing so, he figured out that the line was connected to a number of other old lines in the walls of the hundred-year-old house, originally for heaters or even lights. We traced as many as possible but most were hidden behind walls. We did determine the line which brought gas to the second floor. At this point he could have run about a foot of line and been finished, but he explained that there was no way to tell whether the other branches were properly capped and otherwise safe, and was reluctant to put my family at risk by running gas to more places in the house then were needed. We worked out a creative solution by extending the unused first floor line to the second floor, which eliminated concerns about leakage as the line to the first floor was in good condition. This saved us a good deal of money and time on what will amount to a temporary fix, and I really appreciated his concern for the safety of my family. He didn't mind my hanging around and answering a few questions while doing the work, and gave me a lot of helpful information and tips about the gas and plumbing lines in the house.

We had a very negative experience with Fettes Love & Sieben. Upon the recommendation of friends, we called them to repair a toilet that was constantly running. The plumber showed up on time. After looking at the toilet, he told me that there was no significant problem -- the "floater" was just touching the back of the toilet and needed to be moved slightly forward. He told me to adjust it every so often and it would be fine. During the course of him being at the house, though, he convinced me that the toilet might have been installed wrong. Given that I had no reason to question his judgment, I permitted him to take the toilet apart to check its footing to make sure there wasn't a problem. Of course, there wasn't -- the toilet was just fine, and he re-installed it exactly the way he found it. And, logically, this service cost me $250.-- It should come as no surprise to those of you who are familiar with the workings of a toilet that the problem of constantly running water in the toilet reappeared quickly and the $250 solution of "just move the floater a bit" wasn't working. But when I called Fettes to request a complimentary visit to the house, given that the first ($250) visit didn't fix it, they insisted that it fell outside the one-month warranty (which it admittedly did). I explained that we had been in the midst of a massive renovation of another bathroom, so this was not high on our priority list, but the problem was exactly the one that they charged me for previously and yet didn't solve. To no avail.... and now I must find myself a new plumber. Shame.

I was very disappointed by my experience with this service. On Angie's List it reads that "Cost Is Determined By The Job" and I was charged by the hour. The cost was $159 for one hour and the next 15 minutes was $62 because they rounded the time up to half an hour. I asked that a leak be fixed and the drain be unclogged and all that was done was an unclogging of a pipe to fix the slow drain. The price was outrageous.

They had to come out each time and redo it. After the second job the redo did not hold and I had to have another plumber come out.

I was trying to replace an existing shower arm. When removing the arm, the male threads of the arm snapped off and were left inside the feed pipe. I tried a variety of solutions including various nipple extractors from various sources, and nothing worked. I finally caved in and called on a Wednesday afternoon for a Plumber. They scheduled me for Friday afternoon between 1 and 4, and I had requested the later part of that time period if possible. At 3:30 the plumber called and said he was running about 15 minutes late, and asked if that be OK (it was fine with me). I was very appreciative of the call, and he actually ended up being about 10 minutes late. I showed him the problem, and was really hoping they would not need to open up the wall thus forcing me to have to re-tile. It took him about 45 minutes, but he did manage to get it out. He also checked the threads to make sure they were OK, installed the new arm and showerhead, and cleaned up after himself. It turns out whoever installed the arm used LockTite on it, so there was really no hope of me getting it out myself. They do offer a 10% Angie's List discount as well.

the gentleman replaced the part, but it was covered from their last visit to replace the flushing mechanism so there was no charge.

The experience overall went very well. FLS worked with us every step of the way to ensure we knew what was involved. They even intervened with the City of Chicago Water Department to ensure that our shut-off valve in the yard was repaired and working properly! The whole job from start to finish took about six days. Each staff member was patient and clearly explained the services we needed done. They also repaired some faucets, laundry hose, and drain hole in basement free of charge. Thanks to Roger and Donna (and their helpers). Thanks to the office staff as well, they were a great help too (John Moses and Mark Sparry).

These guys are good..they are courteous, professional and know their stuff. Bob was our guy, he came in found the problem, fixed it and was gone. It was not easy to find, but he did it. I'd use them again, for sure.

Plumber came out and said he could not complete the work. Our outside line was blocked and he said we would need to pay for an entire day's and dig up the large tree in front of our property. Plumber did not have the caulk to complete bathtub. He was very slow and seemed to be taking his time to run up the hourly rate. I called Roto-rooter and they took care of the problem within an hour without digging up the large tree and doing excess work. Overall, I feel cheated out of $200.

A'Donna, the plumber, was awesome. She explained step by stop what she was doing, and why. She was on time, and very friendly!

I was disappointed that I called and spoke with the answering service on Sunday night, explaining the problem, and asking for an appointment on Monday morning (I had sewer water standing in the basement). She was very pleasant and took the message. When I had not received a call, I called the office. First, I was told that they didn't make return calls until after 8AM. Then I was told they could get to me the following day. When I said that was unacceptable given my circumstances, they made an appointment for me between noon and 3 that afternoon. Once the plumber arrived, everything went well. He was knowledgeable, thorough, and friendly, as well as being very neat and organized. It has been suggested that we do some additional investigative work to better ascertain the true source of our drainage problem.

They were terrific. They did a good job. The technician was patient and we were very impressed by him.

I called this morning and left a message. They called me back within 15 minutes to let me know a plumber was in my area and she could be over in a half hour, which was fine with me. The plumber was prompt and professional. She wore booties in the house to prevent tracking dirt. She was extremely knowledgeable and explained what she was doing. She ended up tightening some bolts and putting a shim underneath to secure the toilet (our floor tiles are uneven). That only took 30 minutes, so to use up our hour, we asked her to fix a leaky shower faucet. She needed to turn off the water in our house for about 10 minutes, and she fixed the leak without issue. We were very pleased with the overall service and cost. I'd definitely call them again.

What a great company , I called them on a Monday to schedule a time for them to come out and fix my leaky toilet as well as give me some prices on some other plumbing work that I needed done. The plumber showed up early for the job and got right to work on fixing the toilet replacing a bolt and installing a new wax ring in no time then it was onto the basement to look at replacing the galvinized water pipe in the basement as well as a few other things the plumber, I have forgot his name, took some notes and took his time to explain some options of how to address the future work, he was very personable and professional. A week later I received a letter from the plumbers with a detailed break down of the work to be done with some ideas for cost savings on things if I did the work. This is a first rate company that I will work with when I have the money yeah they might be a bit pricey but you get what you pay for , and these are worth it !

Fixed our problem of leaking toilet. Showed the problem and how he was going to fix it. Did a thorough job and didn't mess around.

They are the top notch, relabile, puntional and a little expensive, but definatley worth it.

I scheduled an appointment at 2;45 and was called to see if I could meet Paul at 1;00 since he was running ahead of his schedule. This actually worked out very well. He was there promptly at 1;00 and was very kind and professional. I would definitely recommend without any hesitation.

They were unable to get an energy star water heater on such short notice, but came out immediately and replaced the old one.

It is in a tiny corner of the attic on the fourth floor, so it had to be a 40 gallon tank. It was very hard to get to and replace and two guys had to carry it upstairs and take the old one downstairs.

They were very professional in coming out and giving us an estimate. They were able to complete the job within two days of the estimate. They were great.

The plumber sent by Fettes, Love & Sieben was great. He examined the problem, diagnosed it and offered alternatives about how to fix it. He also replaced old hoses expressing concern about their age. So, my experience is one of extreme customer service that is rare to find!
