Feldco Windows Siding & Doors

Do not use Feldco. Very deceptive advertising. They had a telemarketer call my home, selling "buy one, get one free" for windows. I had the salesperson, Mr. Hall, come to my home. After measuring all of the windows, he informs me that because I wanted casement windows, the sale did not apply to me. Further, he stated that the telemarketers deliberately leave out what windows qualify for the sale in order to get salespeople in for in home estimates. I found the whole experience terrible and my time was wasted. I filed a grievance with the Better Business Bureau. Feldco responded that their advertising stated that the sale only applied to a specific window. They never addressed the telemarketers misleading customers.

Horrible estimate experience! Salesman Jim Kopinski was unprofessional, pushy, and disrespectful right from the start. I highly regret letting him into my home. He got p***** bc my husband wasn't home yet when he arrived even though I told him several times (& the person who confirmed the appt) that I was the one making the decision solely, I'm paying, my husband knows nothing abt windows, and doesn't care. He said he highly doubted my husband would let me make that kind of decision, ha - what a chauvinist. He said 95% of wives aren't allowed to do that. He complained that he drove an hr to the appt and would now have to cancel and drive an hour back - bc there was no way he was wasting his time on me. I said I wasn't going to buy at the appt., I was getting more estimates either way, then he said he wanted to leave bc I was a waste of an appointment. Then he changed his mind and said he'd give me the "special treatment" and give me a "quick overview" despite all this. The whole appt. he badmouthed all other window companies, got mad bc I wouldn't tell him who I got other quotes from and what they were, was mad bc I wasn't signing a contract that day, kept telling me "thank god all my appts don't go like this", was guilt tripping me for the drive he did, and then in the end the price was $4k more than other quotes I got! He left without a handshake, saying bye, nada, just grabbed his gear and left. It's a shame bc the windows did look high quality and was exactly what I was looking for. Even if Feldco wanted to do it all for $1, I would say no. Get rid of your ridiculous pushy sales tactics bc you just lost a customer and potentially hundreds more with this review.

They replaced 18 windows total and the patio door which was a large order. Right from the beginning we had issues. I had asked that no one come until 9 am. The worker showed up at 6 am and screamed at me because he wanted to get started right away. I told him to call his office because my contract said he was to come at 9 am. He took out his cell phone, stood outside by my bedroom window and yelled loudly in polish to whoever he was talking to. He went away and came back at 8:45. I let him start then. From the moment he started working, he was swearing in Polish and English. He had a 20 something kid with him that did nothing more than walk around, talk on his cell phone and smoke. I had to tell him not to smoke on our property. I called my rep at Feldco who was no help what so ever. He was all there when making the sale, but as soon as the contract was signed he suddenly had no interest in helping me. The receptionist was no help either. I finally got a manager who sent someone over, saw that the guy wasn’t very far along, and called in 3 more guys to help. The manager apologized to me for the guy swearing. After they started working in the basement, they realized they had the wrong size. They would have to come back and do those ones another day. After they left, I had problems locking two of the windows and the patio door. They came back and adjusted the windows and one was fine after that, but my kitchen window still wouldn't lock. They had put it in crooked so the latches wouldn't line up. They had to come out 4 times to get the kitchen window right. My patio door is still having issues. The screen doesn’t lock even though they “repaired” it once. And the security feature where you can open the patio door 3 “ so air can get in, but the door won’t open more than that, doesn’t work. The security latch pops right out. My house was almost broken into 2 weeks ago because the latch didn’t work. Fortunately I heard the door being pushed open and scared them off. When I called Feldco to come out to fix it, they said it was still under warranty, but they wanted to charge me $69 to come out. I never had to pay before and told that to the woman and, that why should I have to pay for them to come out when they didn’t do the job right. She told me unless it was in my contract; I had to pay for the guys to come out. She said she also didn’t know why I wasn’t charged before. I will never use them again, nor will I recommend them to anyone. I felt their customer service was horrible then and still is. They didn't do the job right and now want me to pay them to come out so they can fix their mistakes.

Excellent response and professionalism by our salesman. The work was completed in one day by a very professional crew who did an excellent job on the installation and cleaned up all debris after they had finished.

Overall, the work was excellent. The guys were quick. They came and left in about three hours. The windows themselves were good. They were very competitive. I actually asked them out for another bid for the doors. I would use them again in the future.

We had very good results with Feldco. We called Feldco and they sent out Dave. He came out here and spent about an hour with us showing the doors and looking at what we wanted. They scheduled the work for six weeks later. We live in a condo. A young man named Afrim came out with his assistant and he installed a back door and a storm and screen door combination at our balcony. The workmanship was very good. They did one thing that we did not like, so they came back and replaced the whole part of that frame and reinstalled it. They added something that we had not expected to the framing of the storm door. It made it look more attractive and probably blocked some of the wind because they do not guarantee the wind. They only guarantee protection against the storm. We felt like that was a lot of money to spend, so we did not compare the price. The material quality was very good and it completely changed the look. They put a nice framework around it that extended beyond the door and out onto the step. They put wood framing underneath it to match. It looks very nice.

We had done a lot of homework looking for replacement windows and decided to go with Feldco. We visited their showroom in Des Plaines so we could see the products. Our salesman was very professional, and we decided to purchase 9 replacement windows so we could take advantage of the tax writeoff this year. Everything was exactly as promised. The tech came out to measure the windows, three weeks later the windows were ready for installation, and the installation crew was prompt, friendly, respectful, quick and very tidy. The new windows look and work great and we're very happy with them. Some of the windows we replaced were original to our 1916 house, and the new windows should lower our heating and cooling bills significantly.

I request a sales call to replace the remainder of my windows. I had used Feldc3 years before for the front part of the condo. He gave a good price. At the same time my neighbor wanted windows and the sales person was able to basically double his sale. We negotiated a slightly better price. The installers showed up about 8:45AM and were done about 3:30PM. This included a challenging window of knocking out a glass block and installing a replacement. Did a great job, professional, cleaned up well. Over all a good experience

Everything went well. The workmanship with the door was alright. The only issue was that if the service is outside a year of installation they do charge a service fee which is found in the fine print.

The quote process was horrible for windows - we got quotes from approximately 4 companies. It felt like buying used car and all sales people seemed slick and they bad-mouthed one another. We eventually went with Feldco. They brought their price down - so never take their first price from salesperson, their gig is they wait a while and if they think that you might go with them - someone else from the company calls you (from their contract sales division) and they are able to offer you a great deal etc etc. they whole thing is a joke of a charade but price dropped significantly for us. We went for it - had windows installed, crew were pleasant and quick. They were clean and not very invasive. One window was not correct but everything else, including demonstration of how to clean etc was simple and clear. Clean-up was good and we were happy. The windows have made a huge difference during Winter. It is not a pleasant experience but these guys were pretty good.

The salesperson was late but called to advise me. He was professional up to the point when he wanted me to decide on the spot. He was pushy and short and reminded him that I only requested a quote but insisted on a decision at that point. He criticized and blamed me for not having my husband present. He assumed that my husband was the decision maker when in fact, my sister and I would be paying for the service. He was abrupt and impatient when I refused to sign the contract.

They took the measurement of the door and also gave me a free estimate. They will be fixing the door for free. I had a problem with them. I got a rather expensive door from them. It was never right and it kept coming out. They tried to fix it with a hammer. They just kept fixing it, but it wasn?t satisfactory. It was bad from the beginning and I wanted a new door. So, I complained about them and they agreed to replace the door with a new one. I don?t know if I will use them again as they stole my trust when I had to complain about them. They have ordered the door now, but they can?t make anything right now. I didn?t like to complain about them; they have been nice to me since then. The door was good, but it wasn?t installed properly. They didn?t respond until I complained. However, they were punctual. I will not use them again in the future.

I had 2 slider windows that were leaking and drafty so I called Feldco since they were running a free installation promotion. I had a bad experience with a sales rep from Feldco a few years ago and I was reluctant to consider them for this job. My condo board suggested I call and ask for Tom Ryndak so I did and was very pleased. Tom was very responsive and prompt. He arrived early, returned all of my calls and has excellent follow up. They took measurements on a Saturday morning which was convenient for me and my new windows were installed about 2 weeks later. The installers arrived on time and were polite and very neat. They cleaned up everything after they were done and took all of the garbage away with them which was great. The time to complete 2 windows was 4 hours. I am glad I gave Feldco a second chance.

Salesman was punctual, pleasant and helpful, spent well beyond his allotted time to answer our questions, eventually purchased 5 windows and 2 doors. Purchase required second measurement from a contractor, also pleasant and punctual, in and out quickly. Told 4-5 weeks to wait, but windows available in less than 3, so offered next day install. Installation crew was professional and efficient. They caused little commotion, cleaned up their mess and the windows look fantastic. I have approximately 15 other windows that will need to be replaced, will be calling them again soon.

The windows look nice -- the caulking is neat and they seem to be great. We'll see how they hold up, but as every contractor we had to the house said, "A vinyl window is pretty much a vinyl window." We thought Feldco offered a good product at a competitive price, and so far we're very happy. Good luck!

Sales Rep, David Ochoa, explained completely the features of the product and quoted us an estimate. He arranged the date for someone to make a final measurement of the windows. The measurer arrived as scheduled and confirmed the measurements. The windows were ordered and we were advised when they arrived and a mutually agreeable installation date was set. The workmen arrived on time and with all necessary equipment. They worked efficiently to remove our old windows and replace them with the new windows. Two screens had flaws (one flaw we noticed and the other was pointed out to us by one of the workmen), a supervisor arrived with the materials necessary to replace the flawed screen materials and fixed them on site. We were shown how to operate the windows and the workmen cleaned up after themselves and left no debris behind. The work was done efficiently and professionally.

They came and installed a door that was completely different after they said they could do what I wanted. We basically got stuck with a door that did not match out house. They were not the most expensive, but they were also not the cheapest. We tried to call them, but they stonewalled us for months. We had four different installations with them, but they would always come a day early. They had no regard at all for our lives. The salesman just dropped off the face of the Earth, and they did not seem to know what they had done wrong. I would definitely not use them again.

What a nightmare!! The salesman was professional enough and demonstrated the product. He also explained that his installers work under Feldco's license and are trained to meet the highest industry standards and blah, blah, blah. When he was done, we signed the contract and put half down because we thought everything sounded good and it seemed like a reputable company. The initial installer, as it turned out did not meet the highest industry standards. He was a day laborer with poor skills who spoke limited English. We had difficulty communicating with each other but since I didn't want to look over the guy's shoulder all day, I let him do his thing. Before he began, I explained that the outside wooden stairs were free standing and could be pulled away from the house. He shook his head to indicate he understood what I was saying. When he was done everything looked o.k. so I paid the remaining balance and he left. As I took a closer look I discovered several defects: There was no aluminum cap at the bottom of the door because he didn't pull the stairs out as he was instructed. The aluminum that was installed had a 1/2 inch gap at the seams that was covered with caulk which will discolor and fail over time. The storm door was pulled too tight against the frame so the dead bolt would not work. When the door was adjusted so it would open and close properly, the dead bolt would not go behind the keeper. This made the door difficult to open. The dead bolt on the interior door stuck on the metal plate (the plate was installed wrong). In order to make it work, I had to pull h****** the handle. I was told the weatherstripping had to be" broken in" to force the air out which is B.S. The fish eye lens was loose and the state of the art ball bearing hinges squeaked. Again, I was told it was the weatherstripping. I immedietly called Feldco to have the problems corrected and they sent the same knucklehead back to my house. His "solution" to fixing the dead bolt catch on the storm door was to take a metal hammer and bang on what should be a flat piece of metal and turn it into a half circle. These things are made to slide in and out by loosening two screws. By the way, THIS INSTALLER IS STILL WORKING FOR FELDCO. After I sent him on his merry way, I called to get a field supervisor to inspect and repair the problems. After several phone calls, appointments and service calls some things were corrected and some not. The last visit was June 22, 2010 just shy of one year. My squeaking interior door hinges were replaced with brand new hinges that still squeak. The technicians "solution" was to smear silicon grease on the hinges to make them quiet instead of solving the underlying problem. On a positive note, he said he would gladly come back anytime to smear more grease on my state of the art squeaky ball bearing hinges. So I got that going for me.

The price they quoted me $480 for windows. They seemed really expensive and kind of shady. The estimate they quoted a single price was a window and another guy came by and dropped the price by quite a bid and said they never did that. There was a real strong push to order the windows right then, instead of giving us time to think about it.

Feldco was very Professional and Courtious when giving estimate and as well as providing insight on best materials to use ie: Vinal or Aluminum. Their price was compitivitive. They even installed new Soffit/Facia above garage door for free. The workers doing install completed work in one day and cleaned all debri from property. I would do business with them again.

Very well from the sales people to the installers everyone was very good

We wanted to get new windows to help with heating cost and also to update old windows. We have a very old house. They came out quickly to give and estimate. Their service was great. They came out and sized within the week. They installed within a month. The service guys that came out to install were great. They were freindly and very professional. Installed them quickly, cleaned up nicely and were able to fix problems that came up on the spot. I would recommend them to friends and family.

We have the front and side windows of our house replaced. We received an estimate and signed the contract the same night "to get the best price". Our sales guy was great, very detailed. A couple of days later someone came to measure the windows. He was puncutual. I had a couple of additional questioned that he answered well (rather than referring me back to my sales guy). They estimated a 6 week lead time, which turned out to be only 3 so we had them in by Christmas. We paid 1/3 down, 1/3 the morning of installation and 1/3 once complete. Installation guys were fast and professional. Clean up was good. Very happy with Feldo and will use them again when we do the back side of the house.

It's an excellent company. They did a very good job and their quality was very high.

I was very happy with the experience. Their sales rep was incredibly knowledgable about the product and he even had a sample of the product which none of the other estimators had. He tried to get me to sign up that day with an extra discount but I hadn't gotten the other estimates yet (my recommendation - set up your Feldco appt. as your last estimate). We worked out a deal that I would let him know within a week so that I could get all the discounts. I ended up choosing Feldco over Pella and Andersen as I liked their sliding door product the best. When I confirmed, the sales rep came back to my house that day to get all the paperwork done. Then an appointment was made for a rep to come and re-measure to make sure the right sized doors were ordered. I was told it would take 4 weeks for my doors to arrive but I got a call to schedule installation after only 2 weeks! Plus, they were able to install the very next day. I requested an experienced installation crew and I'm pretty confident that's what I got as I was pretty happy with the installation crew. They took great care in what they were doing and everything looks great. As with pretty much any company, they could have cleaned up a little better, but it wasn't anything that affected the overall experience. The price wasn't the cheapest of the 3 estimates, but it was comparable to 1 of them and as I said, I felt it was the best product. Plus, the doors are eligible for 2009 tax rebate.
