FARUK SADIKU PLUMBING SERVICES

We hired Faruk to replace some galvanized steel pipes in a 90 yr old building, causing water pressure issues for apartments above. The water pressure is now great, and I have the piece of mind knowing that the copper piping will last for decades. They did an excellent job. Details: Faruk is the owner-operator of a small plumbing business, so we worked out an appointment a couple weeks in advance for this all-day, non-urgent job. He arrived promptly, along with an assistant. The pipes that needed to be replaced were vertical rising, in between a basement ceiling and the first floor above, which was a very awkward position to work in. They did an excellent job, and cleaned up the work area after they were done. They also replaced 3 kitchen faucets after they were done with the major work, again, very clean work in all 3 apartments. We have previously used Faruk on other jobs at the building, and have always been extremely happy with the quality of his work, his pricing, and his honesty--he is our go-to guy who also knows a lot about other building maintenance matters and provides good suggestions when we ask. We value honesty, and have noted that his suggestions or recommendations are not the most expensive options. Given his small plumbing business, he prioritizes urgent jobs first, so some people may not like to wait for a service. We are definitely ok with that since we are so pleased with the quality/pricing of his work. He has also addressed a couple very urgent plumbing issues for us on Sundays, so we know we can rely on him when we really need him. We plan to use Faruk for all of our future plumbing needs, and we will continue to recommend him to our friends and work colleagues.

Faruk came highly recommended from Angie's list and a friend. He was polite over the phone and asked to text address. He never showed up the next day and did not respond when we texted. I was really disappointed because I had a bunch of little jobs and looking to find our future long term plumber. We went down the list and found another responsive excellent plumber.

He was great. He explained everything and he was very thorough. The price was reasonable. We have used him multiple times.

Downstairs toilet had a small leak but I couldn't tell exactly where it was happening at. Called Faruk and he had me check to see if the toilet would move when I pushed with my knees. Didn't move then and he said he could come the following day after 4pm. Later, I was trying to show my Dad what Faruk had said to check and I could get the toilet to move. However, when I tried to tighten the bolts, it just spun. Faruk called the next day right around 4pm and came over to look at the toilet. He showed me how to check to see if the bolts were coming loose by pushing with the knees. When he removed the toilet and pulled away the wax seal, he said whoever had installed the toilet originally must have a handyman rather than a plumber because the flange to which the toilet should have been attached was missing. Instead someone had drilled holes into the concrete to allow the bolts holding the toilet to go in directly. Also there was a double pipe there which he didn't understand why they installed. The toilet was lying on a marble tiled bathroom floor and he needed to cut away some of the tiling to allow a flange to be placed on the floor. He did this very carefully so as not to damage the existing floor. They had to go to shop to get the parts to do the job - took about 45 minutes and then they came back to install. While installing, he had to lift the toilet slightly off the floor because the floor was not level. This left some white marks on marble where previous toilet had scratched up the floor. He cleaned up that area and use some marble polisher we had to restore the shine before applying clear caulk to the seam between the toilet and the floor. You can't tell that toilet now sits a little differently than it had for past 8 years. The whole job took about 2 hours from start to finish.

Work was done well fixing the problems and for a fairly reasonable price. $200 for labor and $60 for parts. He and his helper worked about 4 hours including time spent to go get the parts needed from distributor. Initially it was hard to get a response. After I called him first, he indicated he would call me back in a couple of hours to set up an appointment. When he didn't call back, I called him again the next day and he said he would come by the following day at 3pm. He failed to show for that appointment and when I called he apologized because he was running late on another job. We rescheduled and he came out, looked at material, was able to find a distributor to get the part the same day - my handyman who looked at it couldn't find anyone to deliver the part in less than a week. They explained everything that they were doing. While I knew what the problem with the HVAC unit was what he suggested I might want to call a HVAC person because he was not an expert in HVAC.
