I requested window treatments to be custom made in fall of 2009. Sales associate failed to come to next appointment. I made a new appointment and had to go to the store. At the store I was informed that their expert recommended blinds instead. I should have walked out then but I insisted that I wanted draperies, not blinds and someone came to my house for another appointment with some fabric books. They had a good suggestion for draperies in a track attached to the ceiling which gave the appropriate modern look. I needed asymmetrical left and right panels so we decided on two independent panels of different width dimensions, controlled by their own pull strings. This would be the same as two diffenent curtains that met to close, like 5/8 of the room on the left and 3/8 on the right. Their installer measured the space. For Installation visit #1 they came to deliver the finished product and the right panel was too small by about four feet!!! They took it back to the workroom, ordered more fabric and brought it to my house again for installation (Installation #2). However, when they had gone I noticed that the left side was way to big, an amount equivalent to the deficit on the right side. They came and removed the left side (Installation visit #3) and reworked it but despite my request to measure it on a track before troubling me with another appointment it was again too big. We agreed that the number of pleats was to be 30. Fourth installation appointment -- the left panel was closer to fitting but there were still 31 pleats, not the 30 that we had agreed on. Also, they provided a system to keep the pleats hanging properly at the floor level but the system turned out to be some straight pins and cheap plastic string. The pins come out every time the area is vacuumed. Ethan Allen seems to think that your time is worthless. Imagine how many appointments I had to keep with them during this entire process. Find someone else for your draperies. I had previously had them design bedding for a master bedroom. I ordered a coverlet but they provided something more like a quilt. It was too heavy for summer use. Interestingly their online catalog listed premade coverlets of the right weight for sale. Their sales associates tried to tell me that I should be happy with a heavy quilt under my down comforter. After one night's use I was sweltering. I accepted the "coverlet" but put it on another bed. It was way overpriced for the quality and I did them a favor. Now I don't have the coordinated bedding that I had originally wanted. Go to Bedside Manor. I should have.
