Do not use this company by any means. They do not respect the contract. They try to scam customers for more money. During our move, they refuse to move the piano to where it is supposed to be located. Also, refuse to assemble the piano. At the end, we have to hire another company to finish the job. At the same time, they try to scam us more money for the long carry. From the truck to our townhouse, it is only t150 feet. But they claimed it was 500 feet, then tried to charge us $500.

I have never written a negative review about any business previously. However, after our experience with Midwest Moving & Storage (based in Chicago but we dealt with a salesperson named Kevin out of their Las Vegas office), I felt compelled to share our disastrous experience with this company so other consumers do not become victims of Midwest's business practices. Upon contacting Midwest you will be given many promises and assurances from the salesperson. Once you enter into an agreement with them and provide them a deposit, things will do downhill quickly. Our experience was a long and tortuous experience, but this is the summary: After getting assurances the moving truck would be there on a date certain, Midwest called the day before the scheduled pickup to say they wouldn't be showing up to move our belongings from the west coast to the east coast. Although I protested this delay, they refused to make arrangements to solve the problem but only said they guaranteed they would have another truck show up in four days. When that day arrived, the dispatcher called again to say Midwest would not be showing up to move our belongings because they miscalculated their other loads for other customers. Midwest said they would now need to "try" to find another truck and pushed our pickup date out another four days. I once again expressed my displeasure with yet another delay and I was informed by the dispatcher that it was not uncommon for Midwest to not show up on the dates they promise you as often they have to wait for other trucks to pass through your area. When I asked the dispatcher why we weren't told that when we agreed to retain their services, she said "if the salesperson told potential customers the truth, Midwest would lose customers and they wouldn't get the booking." By this time I had placed several calls to Midwest and requested our salesperson Kevin to call me to and neither he, nor any other employee returned my call. On the third try the truck showed up. When we booked Midwest's services, we were told our load would get to us within 10-14 days. However, it was nearly a month before our goods showed up. The day before our goods arrived, Midwest called up and told my wife that although we had a "Binding Moving Estimate," we were going to have to give the truck driver another "$500 in cash" before he would unload the truck. I was out of town when the truck arrived and, sure enough, our goods were held hostage until my wife gave the driver $500 in cash. Midwest alleged we had more items than they had anticipated. However, my wife gave them a very detailed list and, to the contrary, the truck showed up without some of our goods and in fact it turned out they moved less items than we had contracted for. In addition, we had items that were broken beyond repair (lamp, bookshelf, desk, etc). In addition, as part of the moving contract, Midwest was responsible to resemble all furniture. When the driver was unable to reassemble a small desk, he decided to use an additional 30 large unsightly metal screws he carried in his truck. Our stereo receiver was not on truck and was not delivered. The items above that were readily apparent were noted in the "Remarks/Exceptions" portion of the delivery ticket and brought to the driver's attention. After the driver left and during the unpacking it was discovered that during the time our goods were in the custody and control of Midwest, rodents had chewed through luggage and chewed up the items contained therein and left rodent feces throughout the destroyed items. We waited nearly two weeks to hear back from Midwest regarding our claims for the missing and damaged goods and no one contacted us. On April 24, 2017 I called Midwest and by luck our salesperson Kevin answered the phone (855-511-6683) and I explained why I was calling and the various problems we experienced with the move. He was very quick to want to get off the phone and said I needed to call Kayla (at 702-982-1514), the general manager, who he said would address our claims. I called the 702 number and asked for Kayla and was told she wasn't available. I informed the receptionist of the purpose of my call and that I needed the general manager to call me back ASAP. I never got a returned call. I then called the 855 number back and spoke with Tiffany and explained to her the purpose of my call and the details of the damaged and missing goods. I asked Tiffany to have Kayla or anyone else in management to call me back to address our issues and claims. Tiffany confirmed my contact info, my job reference number and all details and she said that either Kayla or another manager would call me back "shortly." As of today, July 16, 2017, no one from Midwest has called me back or responded to any of my written communications. As a result, we will be forced to turn to the legal system to seek recovery from Midwest for our property and financial damages
