He created two different outlets (connections) from the sink to the pipes. It made it inconvenient for future plumbing and added more piping that wasn't necessary which increased the potential for problems in the two lines. When we requested he use larger connections, he would not do it and said it was fine the way it was. When we asked about the flow from the kitchen faucet itself, he said he would have to replace ALL the connections from the upstairs bathrooms all the way down to the basement. In other words, all the water pipes in the house. He blamed the problems with our plumbing on bad past plumbers. He was also more expensive than other estimates we had gotten. We hired a new plumber AFTER this one, who complied with and agreed with everything we had wanted to do originally. Our kitchen plumbing works wonderfully now.
Description of Work: The drain from the kitchen sink down to the the larger pipes in the basement needed to be upgraded and enlarged.

Description of Work: I oversee my 85 yr. old mother's affairs. She contacted Ed The Plumber from an ad in her Catholic Church bulletin. The charges were unbelievable. To replace the $7.50 flush valve in one toilet was $568.50 and to replace a leaky hose bibb was $548.50. After she paid by check, they advised she get two new toilets (one that they had just repaired for $598.50!!) They padded the bill with a $125 truck fee, $85 Tool/Equipment fee, $15 tarp, a $252.17 'overhead charge. Labor cost was 2 men x 3 hours @ $85 per hour PORTAL TO PORTAL totaling $510 in labor alone. DO NOT USE THIS PLUMBER!!!

Description of Work: I ASKED FOR AN ESTIMATE. THEY SHOWED UP AS PROMISED AND ON TIME. I WAS DISAPPOINTED THAT THE ESTIMATE COST $85, BUT FIGURED I WOULD USE THEIR SERVICE AND GET IT BACK. TREATED WOOD WOULD COST $3300 TO REPLACE A BACK PORCH THAT WAS SLIGHTLY SMALLER THAN 25 SQ FT. TO REPLACE APPROXIMATELY 30 FT OF 4X1 " FASCIA ON A GARAGE WOULD COST AN ADDITIONAL $600!!!. I DIDN'T USE THEM.

I needed someone to install a kitchen faucet that I foolishly thought I could install myself. I looked in my church bulletin, thinking I would find someone from the parish that I could give business to and hopefully would be reliable.Ed's responded promptly and repair man was professional. But, first of all, they're not from the Plainfield area and even though I got a 5% discount thru the parish bulletin and 5% senior citizen discount, I still paid $430.96 to install one faucet that I paid $139.00 for. I could have declined, but then I would have paid $85.00 for the estimate AND whatever I would have paid someone else. Although I was satisfied with the work performed, I wouldn't use them again.
Description of Work: removal of leaking kitchen faucet and installation of new kitchen faucet that I purchased separately.

Overall this service is too expensive for my limited income.
Description of Work: I used this service because it appeared in my church bulletin, and appeared to be a local business. However, they are based in Darien, Il and are dispatched to my remote south suburban area. Service call for estimate is $85 if no work done. My final cost for repairing 1 shower, parts only ,not a new shower head was 358.96' Estimate provided for other services ie. sewer rodding, and replacement of another shower were too expensive for me. Iif they supplied shower and installed, faucet cost would be $898.85, and if I would buy the faucet and they installed, the cost would be $688,85! These costs include a 5 percent reduction for senior status and another 5 percent for being a parishioner. So far, repair of the one shower, is still working fine. Plumber was polite and professional, providing complete explanations as he proceeded, and writing everything down, but I could not afford any additional work. I was shocked by the final cost and would not call again.
