Eco-Sealer Inc

This is the worst contractor I have ever dealt with. I wanted to use an environmentally friendly asphalt-based sealer (as opposed to coal tar) on my driveway. Because of the incompetence of Eco-sealer, Inc./Pave Chicago and its owner Patrick it has been a complete disaster. First, he came two weeks later than he said. I was suspicious when I called numerous times and never received a call back from him, but the delay prevented me from lining up another contractor so I was stuck. When he came, his product caused over $1000 worth of damage to my property. Because he applied it incorrectly, it did not harden properly so that when the first rains came it splashed on to the stone of my house, the bluestone patio, my mahogany garage door, the paint trim of the house, and the cedar of my garden shed. After the rain stopped and I saw the damage, i called him and his office repeatedly in a panic to get advice on how to remove the product before it hardened. I stood outside for four hours cleaning each inch of the garage door with my thumb and a terry cloth towel and was able to save the door. Not so for the cedar shed, the paint trim or the stone. The trim will need to be repainted and the bluestone flamed to get the product off in the spring. Still not sure what to do with the cedar shed or the flagstone on the house. Patrick never even gave us the courtesy of a return call. We left numerous messages -- first pleading for advice, then angry -- and only received a call back from his office girl Jean saying he would get back to us, but he never did. We were in such a panic that we called the manufacturer of the product and they were very responsive. The rep came to my house and said the product had been applied incorrectly by Patrick. We are furious. We have neighbors who have used this product with great results (but with a different contractor). Since this catastrophe I did some research and discovered that Patrick also does business as "Pave Chicago," and has been given an "F" by the Better Business Bureau. We are furious at what this guy did to our home.
