Marcus was responsive, showed up when he said he would, was pleasant and did a great job bringing this family heirloom back to life. (The mechanical parts on the underside of the table needed to be repaired so the leaves could be inserted and removed, so it was a bit complicated.) He is knowledgeable and clearly enjoys what he does. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

The vintage table was a real beauty! I handled a variety of structural repairs as well as repaired the leaf tracks. I also went over all the joinery to give this vintage dining room table a few more years. The customer was very hospitable and really great to work for. Another wonderful success and happy customer!

The shelf wall unit/media center was severely damaged by movers. I had to glue, nail and clamp various parts back into place as well as modify a part, i.e., the kick panel, to properly fit back into place. I also touched up the media center with match9ing stain to give it a bit of a facelift. The customer was very happy with my work and suggested he would recommend me to friends and family. I rewarded my self with a really nice lunch and headed back to my workshop located on the Northwest side of Chicago.

Marcus from Easy Does It picked up the chairs from my elderly mother's apartment, speaking to her so politely, and took them to the shop. In 5 days they were fixed and repaired. I couldn't meet him at the apartment the day they were delivered, but when I went to see them, they looked great. Even the chair with the split leg looked good...you could barely tell the wood had broken.
Description of Work: Tightened and repaired the legs of 4 Danish modern chairs from the 50s. The leg of one chair had split wood, from when a very heavy person plopped down in it, and we thought of that chair as a lost cause, but Marcus was able to repair that as well.

The four vintage Danish chairs were virtually ready for the trash. Yet, I was able to repair all the breaks and loose joinery; touch them up with matching stain and return them to the client in excellent almost like new condition. Really fun chairs to work on. It's always great to have another very happy client!

A really nice dining room set that included a 7' table, six chairs and one leaf. The veneer tabletop was severely damaged, e.g., nicks, deep scrapes and gouges. I progressively sanded the tabletop with 60 - 250 grit sandpaper. The final sanding was with 1000 grit sandpaper. I applied multiple coats of high gloss urethane (over a ten day period) sanding in-between each coat resulting in a hard high gloss finish. The six chairs were all nicked up. I color matched the finish and retouched all six chairs using a stippling technique and fine tipped artist brush. The chairs came out looking virtually brand new. I finished off the year with another very happy client.

The two vintage chairs just needed a little TLC and one had a broken front leg. I fitted, glued, clamped and pin the broken leg back together. The repair came out fabulous. Though the client did not ask for it - I offered to touch-up both chairs with Black Cherry stain. The touch-ups belded perfectly. She was thrilled with the final results and I have another very happy Angies List client.

The sideboard was comprised of two separate large pieces - bottom hutch [Member Information Removed] mantle on top with a mirror. This was a gigantic piece to work on. I stripped [Member Information Removed] sanded the entire two pieces. I stained each of the two pieces with two hand rubbed coats of "Kona" (a very dark brown). All pieces, including six drawers [Member Information Removed] two cabinet doors, received multiple coats of semi-gloss urethane. The finished product came out really fabulous. The recliner was pretty much destroyed on one side. The front and back legs, on the one side, were pretty much broken away from the original chair frame. I was able to access the underside interior of chair and install new framing and supports and secure a numerous fasteners that were loose or missing. I also secured the opposite side of the chair. All in all a successful repair. The client was very happy to have her chair back in excellent working condition. Happy Holidays***

Mark did a fantastic job! We purchased a chair from the RH outlet and needed the two front legs installed (they were missing, hence why the chair was at the outlet). I assumed the job was simple and purchased the necessary hardware and attempted the install myself. In doing so, I cracked the wood frame almost ruining the chair outright. I called Mark and he saved the day. But the real reason we’ll come back to him is that he didn’t upcharge us when he easily could have and had the opportunity. When I sent him video of the chair, the fabric and cover was still stapled on. We (at least I, perhaps he knew better) had no idea the wood had cracked like it had and the fix required far more work than I could have imagined. He texted me pictures of the problem, assured me it was something he could fix, and brought it back to us in brand new condition. Mark is honest, fast, reliable, and exceptional at what he does.

The table leg was severely broken where it adjoins the table top. The break was about 12" in length. I removed the leg from the table top and uninstalled the two bushing insets used to attach the leg to the top. I glued, clamped and strategically pinned the break perfectly back together and reinstalled the two bushing insets. I reattach the leg to the table top good as new. The customer was thrilled with the final repair. Made my Saturday and I treated myself to a special lunch. A job well done!

I used 3/4" red oak to cap the stair treads and 1/2" red oak to cap the stair risers. I installed really nice quality 1" x 2" bullnose trim on each of the treads which resulted in a very quality finished look. The capping of each tread and bullnose trim resulted in deeper treads and much better footing. The job was rock solid!

Marcus did a beautiful job on the project. I was able to leave the items with him for an extended period of time, with the idea that I wanted the project completed by the end of November. He kept his word by having them done on time and then delivered the items to my home. The price was reasonable, especially considering that the chairs needed to be practically reconstructed and the final effect was exactly what I was looking for.

On a Saturday (10/28/17), we located Mr. Sroge's company in Angie's List and contacted him. That morning he responded. He proposed a tentative price of $100-$120 per chair. That day he came to our home and picked up the chairs. Upon inspecting the state of breakage, he negotiated price of $360 or $120 per chair. and we paid half the total ($180) by check. He provided an invoice via text during the following week and after just one week, he dropped off the repaired chairs. We made final payment ($180) at that time. We were very pleased with the repairs and with Mr. Sroge's excellent customer service.

The one harp high back rocking chair was a fabulous chair to work on. Some sections, given its brittle nature, were almost beyond repair. The final result was truly beautiful! To view photos of my workmanship you can refer to photos posted on angieslist. If you would like additional photos - please feel free to call or text me. Thx! My quote was 360., i.e., 120. for each of 3 chairs (not 180. per chair). I kept to my original quote! One of the three chairs had a fractured leg. I fabricated a part and rebuilt the lower section of the leg as well as stained the repair to match the rest of the chair. Additionally, I provided some minor touch ups on all three chairs and applied a light coat of reconditioner at no additional charge.

It went very well -- Marcus texted back and forth, set up a pick-up time, and showed up, even a bit early, and took the pieces with him, after I explained what was needed. He had promised a 6-week turnaround, but I got the pieces back in less than half that time. He did an excellent job, and charged about 60% or 65% of what the next-cheapest quote was (probably because he wasn't proposing totally stripping each piece and "starting over"). He listened to me, did what he promised, and did it to high standards.
Description of Work: I needed to have two water-damaged pieces of furniture repaired -- an antique highboy dresser top in cherry and pine, and an antique small drop-leaf table top in yellow birch. I got a couple of other quotes, but those quoters didn't seem to understand, despite my repeated efforts to explain, that I didn't want a brain-dead strip-and-start-from-raw-wood (on the entire piece, no less) "new furniture" product -- I wanted a careful blending that took out the water stains (often several layers down into the wood) and preserved the patina of the antique pieces' other surfaces and made the repaired sections look original. A "restoration", not a "refinishing". Duh. Marcus understood this immediately.

Great - Marcus originally did some work for us in January 2017 and then he came back for some more work in August 2017. All items were fixed and are still working. The joinery, and side rail brackets, on the vintage day bed were pretty much all broken and/or non-operable. I made new joints and used special fasteners, in very low profile inconspicuous places, to assemble the day bed. I filled a few deep gouges on the headboard and smoothed out a few sharp edges on the side rails. All in all - a wonderful success and the customer was thrilled with my craftsmanship.
