Description of Work: This company does not seem to be interested in helping customers with small jobs. I had a door handle break and was unable to locate a replacement. I e-mailed details of pictures back and forth with "Guy" who was at first helpful. However, he stopped responding altogether when it became clear the solution was not an easy fix. This company represents themselves as an honest company to assist in your time of need, yet it seems to be very much on their own terms. I expressed to Guy that I am unable to lock my back door until this is resolved and it did not seem to evoke a sense of urgency.

Description of Work: I was in need of repair of my front door. When I orignally contacted this company I spoke with Walt and explained that my front door needed repair and needed to be reinstalled, since it had never been installed properly. All of the Angie's list reviews were excellent so they gave me confidence that they would do a great job. Unfortunately, I will never know. First I was asked to email the owner and was told that he would call me when he had time to set up an appointment to give me an estimate. A week went by and no phone call or visit. I emailed again and explained who I was an asked if Walt could come to my home and provide an estimate. I also said I needed to get the door repaired by the winter! Again another week went by and I heard nothing. So I called for a 2nd time. Walt told me he was busy but could come by this Sunday at 9AM. My husband and I waited for 3 hours and no visit or phone call. Very disappointing and unprofessional. If they did not have time to come by they could have called.

Description of Work: We had a break in at one of the condo units. Lynn came out promptly to do emergency repairs - including door reinforcement and better lock installation. He did such a great job that 3 other unit owners had him upgrade their door locks and reinforce the doors as well. We also had him do the same for our entire basement. Additionally, he rehung our front door because the latch was not catching. He did a great job on all of the doors!!

 + 0 moreThe door frame repaired was damaged near the strike pad. The locking mechanism was partially exposed and presented a safety concern. Mr. Ward was contacted in the morning and came to inspect the work a few hours later. He studied the problem and left stating that he may have a piece of heavy gauge metal made to correct the problem. He called back with a price and was given authorization. He returned with everything he needed to repair the damage and did a great job repairing the door frame, replacing the strike pad with one which allowed the door to lock more efficiently
Description of Work: A piece of metal was cut/forged to support a damaged door frame. The strike pad area was enforced and a new strike pad was installed. The door now lock more securely.

 + -1 moreMy pantry door works better now than when we bought our townhouse four years ago! Hanging doors is an art and Mr. Ward took his time measuring and remeasuring to be sure everything would fit properly. His attention to detail is what makes him a craftsman. The job took less time than he anticipated, so he dropped his price to reflect that.
Description of Work: My 15-year old bi-fold pantry door came off the track and we couldn't fix it ourselves. Lynn Ward came the same day that I called him to look at the door and the track. His diagnosis was that this solid wood door was hung with lightweight hardware and he felt he could rehang it. He didn't know how long it might take to find the correct hardware, but he promised to get back to me as soon as possible. Within a week, he called to say he had located the heavier hardware and could come to fix it the next day, but that the door might have to be shaved at the bottom. His estimate for the work was $350 which I agreed to. He arrived this morning, exactly one week from his first visit accompanied by another person. He rolled all of his tools on a cart inside my kitchen and placed dropcloths everywhere. He removed the old track, cut the new track to fit and replaced the old hardware on the door before hanging it perfectly The door didn't need to be shaved and my kitchen was cleaned up the way he had found it.

After completion, I was asked to inspect the work and if I had any questions. The clean up was immaculate and he was courteous and polite in every respect. There is no question in my mind which company I will contact for any and all future needs regarding this type of work. Door Consultants is an outstanding service provider.

I think I my small job may have fallen through the cracks a bit but when I e-mailed to follow up he came right out. Lynn and his helper did a fantastic job, were nice, professional, and efficient. I'd use them again in a heart beat. Thanks.

 + 1 moreIf you are looking to do any custom-specialized door work, this is the guy to use. I come across very few people that know doors like he does. He cares about his work and it shows. There was an unusual set of doors that we had to install and he fabricated the hardware himself as they did not come with any originally. He is an old-fashioned, skilled worker. He won't leave unless he has it down right. Very reasonably priced and works on your schedule. It is a pleasure to work with him. I have never had a complaint, always on-time, and responsive.
Description of Work: They have done several jobs for us. Installed all the doors in our remodeled apartment. Also, hung all of the artwork. They are also working on caulking of our ceiling right now.
