Dependable Construction

Joe Baran has exceptional professionalism. He was honest about his scope of work, punctual, and responsive to my calls. Also, his pricing was better than 2 other bids I got for the project and he threw in a small area tuckpointing for free. I would definitely use his company again for future projects.

Dependable was prompt, friendly, and responsive. Joe is very trustworthy and easy to work with. Our roof leak issue seems to have been resolved.

I wasn't very happy. They came at a time I didn't schedule and showed up unexpectedly. They came and did the work but didn't really spend the time they were suppose to. I wasn't happy how they handled everything and they didn't clean up after themselves. I felt it was poor professionalism and they did some work and patched it up a little bit but I wasn't happy overall.

They never showed up and they never did the work. They took a while to respond to my phone calls and when they did respond they didn't show up when they told me they would show up. I received a refund.

When I called provider, the first thing he said was,"Is this about the deal?" like he didn't want anything to do with it. I told him, yes, but that I was using the deal to help me find a good tuckpointing service for my entire house, the first project being my brick and concrete front porch. He remained unenthusiastic, but eventually came to provide an estimate (when I was not around). He quoted me > $8,000.00 to tuckpoint the front porch, 5,000 higher than any other estimate. Clearly, he did not want the work.

Joe and his crew were great. They were prompt, polite, and professional. I would recommend them, and would use them again.

I called Dependable Construction Co., Inc. after using Angie's list to look for someone to do some minor tuckpointing on my house. I should have done this months ago as several contractors told me they couldn't get to me until next year, they were too busy as my job was pretty small. I left a voice mail at Dependable Construction and Joe, the owner returned my call the next morning. He apologized for the delay and explained he was very busy as the good weather window was closiing and many people wanted masonry work done before the winter closed in. He came out within a couple of days, confirmed I did need some tuckpointing, which I knew from looking at the brick beforehand. Two other contractors tried to sell me services I didn't need, such as chimney work and waterproofing the brick exterior of my home. Joe explained to me why I didn't need the other services done. His estimate seemed fair, especially compared to the other inflated ones and he seemed forthright, so I hired him a couple of days later. I sent in the contract with a $500 deposit and within 2 weeks his crew showed up, completed the work professionally with a minimal amount of disruption to my family and cleaned up after themselves quite well. I had to leave town the morning after the men completed the work and Joe told me not to worry about the remaining payment until I returned home, 4 days later. When I spoke to him after arriving back home I mentioned a couple of other minor joint repairs and he took care of them no charge, even though they weren't in the original contract. Joe was very easy to work with, did exactly what he said he would and had a very professional crew. I don't consider waiting 2 weeks a long wait at all to get the work done, especially in mid October. I give Dependable an A+ and would most definitely recommend them.

The bricks and the mortar in between were falling apart. The workers were very professional and detail oriented and really knew what they were doing. They came very well prepared and started early in the morning. They worked very diligently throughout the day and were done at 6:30 PM. I was very pleased with the way they cleaned up after themselves and even our neighbors noticed what a wonderful job they did on the chimney and the cleanup afterwards. The boss came and checked up on them to make sure that everything was going according to our agreement and I was very happy that he did. I would definitely recommend him to friends and relatives as well as other Angie's List members.

I did not use the vendor, but Angie's list will not allow me simply reply did not use.

Everything was great, although the workers on the roof dropped a large portion of the chimney, which damaged the roof and they had to come back to repair the roof (they didn't tell me this happened, but instead my neighbor's showed me from their vantage point)...Dependable Construction did a good job in rectifying the issue.

Joe came out when promised, gave me a price the next day and his workers were on time, did a professional job and cleaned up afterwards. I would recommend them to anyone.

It went fine. I did end up paying a bit more, but they did a good job.

After speaking briefly with Joe regarding minor restoration work on a fractured stone window sill, at Joe's request I sent him information from a home inpsection report detailing the damage, along with pictures. Joe said that he would not come to the house to provide an estimate but would evaluate based on photographs. I thought this was fine as Dependable Construction was not the only company I contacted that preferred to provide an estimate using this approach. I do note, however, that other companies were more than happy to come by to provide an estimate. Three days later I received an email from Joe as follows: "We will not be bidding this job." I thanked Joe for taking a look at the materials and asked if there was a reason that Dependable Construction would not bid on the job. Eight days later I received an email from Joe as follows "WE WILL NOT BE DIDDING THIS JOB". I completely understand if Dependable Construction did not find this project suitable for its business. However, based solely on the interactions described above this company gets an extremely low grade from me and I'll be happy to work with someone else.

Very professional. Responded in a timely fashion with estimate. All communication via e-mail and telephone was superb.

hard to tell how effective it was, but it was a major pain to remove the weather sealing. My expectation was that it would be easy to remove, but it was not.

Split face cinder block needs to be sealed intermittently to prevent moisture leaking in. We are in the process of preparing our house for sale and wanted to be sure that the work done was done recently and well. The provider was prompt and efficient in coming to assess the job and prepare his bid, which we accepted. They arrived on time with four workers. and worked diligently for several days to complete the job. When we had a question about how the job was done and the cost for it, Dependable listened to our concerns and was very responsive in making honest and appropriate adjustments. We were pleased with their cooperativeness, flexibility, responsiveness and concern for making sure that they met our needs.

Very professional and asked us questions along the way to make sure that we were satisfied or if anything needed additional attention. Work was done expertly and completely. Very satisfied.

It went very well. He showed up on time and did the work that he promised. He is a very nice guy.

I bought the big deal thinking that they will actually come and give me 4 hours worth of masonry repair. Instead, they came to give me "an estimate" of several thousand dollars and reduced the equivalent of 4 hours... Ridiculous! I am not even sure that if I got a refund from Angie's list for the big deal I paid for...

I purchased an Angie's list Big Deal coupon for this service. In the past, every time I purchased a Big Deal coupon, the company involved has contacted me to schedule an appointment. Not sure if this is always the case. There was no real urgency to get the work done. I wasn't contacted by Dependable Construction, so about a month before the coupon expired I called them. I was told that I should have called sooner and they were very busy and probably could not get to me by the time the coupon expired. I never heard from them again. I received a refund from Angie's List.

It was a good experience, it was very positive. Joe, the main guy there, was very responsive and very professional.

Badly. They don't know what they are doing.

It it basically $99 to give you a quote. I ended up getting the services done for several thousand dollars less than the quote I received.

Arrived early and started to work outside on tuck pointing the more smaller areas. The vent was a more extensive job and he needed more supplies so we rescheduled for a later date. Again, arrived on time and did an excellent job. Joe Baran also found where I have structural problems and gave me his honest opinion. I will also use his company once I get a complete evaluation.

Joe honored the Big Deal even though there was only one week left in the available "use" period. He was very forthright and stated that he was extremely busy and would call me when available. Since the job wasn't critical, I agreed. Several weeks later, he called back, told me he looked at my house and provided me a quote for the additional work to be accomplished. He gave me a date, was very punctual and completed the job to my satisfaction.
