We used this company when we lived in a condo in the city. We moved out to the suburbs and decided to have them out here. They were great! My husband being a new home owner had a lot of questions for the technician. I forgot his name but he was very thorough and explained in detail about the ins and outs of our furnace. He was also very polite and on time! We will use them again.
Description of Work: We just moved into a house and needed our furnaced serviced. We used them in the city and were very happy with them so we gave them a call back. They were great! My husband being a new home owner had lots of questions for the technician. The Deljo guy (forget his name) was very thorough and explained in detail about the ins and outs of our furnace. We will call them again.

I knew my furnace was on its last legs, and it finally quit on a cold Thursday night in early April. Deljo sent out their emergency crew, and the emergency guy changed out a switch and left with the furnace running. The next night, the furnace went out again. This time the emergency guy replaced the central circuit board. At this point I was out $1000, and feeling like maybe this was not the best investment. After talking with the salesperson, he agreed to put the full $1000--parts and labor--towards the cost of a new furnace. They came out the next Monday and spent the day installing a Carrier 2-stage variable motor unit. They also replaced my outdated Sears humidifier (I will never buy another appliance from Sears, but that's another story!) with one that does not rely on standing water. The crew was friendly, effective and did a great job thinking through how to reroute the humidifier water lines in a sensible way. I've used Deljo for years and have always found them courteous, timely and professional. But what's noteworthy here is how they handled my unhappiness with the thermostat that comes with the Carrier unit. It didn't occur to me to ask what it looked like (something I encourage everyone to ask now because these units are growing in size and complexity--they are noticeable additions to a room). When I saw it installed in my dining room, I was frankly appalled at how ugly and oversized it was: a giant touch screen encased in bright white plastic, which is also adorned with a bright blue Carrier logo and 6 different soft keys and switches, all of which have bright colored marks to draw your attention to them. Do these manufacturers not understand that thermostats are a home decor issue? I spend thousands on my dining room only to have a bright white plastic box dropped into it? Good product designers know how to solve these issues! I can't think of another high-tech category that operates with that kind of insensitivity to aesthetics. ANYWAY, Deljo right away volunteered to put a less offensive Honeywell controller. They didn't charge me for the service visit or the required modifications to the Carrier furnace or the unit. And it's quite an improvement. So, I continue to recommend Deljo to anyone looking for a quality experience at a fair price.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced my 25 year old furnace. Removed and replaced my humidifier, rerouting the condensation/water lines to another (and better) location. They also removed the old humidifier piping that was poorly installed (extending into another room and included an awkward drain solution). Replaced for free the offensive-looking thermostat that came with the new furnace with a better looking model.

Deljo really fell flat on this visit -- from speaking with the person booking the appointment to the service technician (Jason) who came to the house -- it became evident Deljo has fallen behind when it comes to providing customer service. The receptionist had a difficult time understanding the specifics of what we wanted accomplished during the appointment. So he punted to the service technician, who arrived in a foul mood on the day of our appointment. After having to explain again what needed to be accomplished (thought Deljo were supposed to be the experts here), there were a few occasions when the service technician adopted an argumentative, sarcastic tone as he went about his work as though it was somehow our problem that he may have been misinformed by Deljo about the work to be completed. After several positive experiences with Deljo, this one was bad enough that we will seek other companies who are capable of providing customer service along with their trade.

First and foremost let us apologize for leaving a customer so dissatisfied with our service. We certainly do not want to conduct business in this manner. I wish they had given us an opportunity to resolve the problem. The customer’s payment has been returned to them. I am the receptionist that booked the call. I did have a hard time trying to decipher what he needed. I felt that I had asked some very direct questions regarding his expectations and I must have not asked enough. The dispatched notes to the service technician said "Customer is very particular about the cleaning; please discuss it with him before doing it." The service technician that was there has been spoken to regarding the homeowners’ unhappiness and will certainly be more patient in the future. Jason is one of our most requested technicians and this is not his normal behavior. Again, we offer our apologizes and I would ask in the future if he is this dissatisfied with his next company, please give them the opportunity to correct it before posting.

Received call from tenants on Sunday night that water heater leaking. Immediately called Deljo and left detailed message. They responded early Monday morning, scheduled appointment with tenants, called me with analysis of problem and recommendation. They installed new water heater that afternoon and installed pan under water heater and made suggestion for venting to help prevent water damage in future. Very happy with their promptness and professionalism.

The repairman arrived promptly at appointed time. He quickly confirmed that it was just a bad glow plug. He then went to his truck and found a replacement plug that he installed quickly. The charges were straight forward with a global charge for the glow plug and its installation and a standard service charge for coming to the house. The job took approximately one hour from start to finish.

We had to call on Sunday because our furnace was not working. Paging and scheduling the repair was very easy. The repair person explained everything he was doing and made sure we understood what was wrong with our furnace. Would definitely use them again.

No problems at all from start to finish. For the A/C and heating system installation, their prices were a little higher than others, but I was happy about the level of service. For my routine maintenance, their prices are very competitive and quality is excellent.

Deljo guy appeared a lot more intelligent and was actually able to take the blower apart and get it working for a while we pondered what to do with my 10 year old furnace. A couple weeks later we decided to replace it with a higher efficiency one. The cost was about $2,000 less than the first company quoted and the works was amazingly great. Little details like the angle they cut the output pipe and the way they put together the duct work made a great impression that they work was done right.
Description of Work: My heater was very loud. I called another company and they tried to put a block under the blower wheel in order to stop it moving as much. The blower broke almost immediately after they left. I called Dejo because I had used them in the past.

I spent $120 on that work. There was nothing that really stood out to be honest because I expected someone to come and fix my unit and that was what happened. They showed up on time, were professional and fixed the problem. I thought that the price was fair.
Description of Work: I used Deljo Heating & Cooling probably about 2 weeks ago and they came out looked at the furnace because it was turning on and off and they ended up doing a system clean of the sensors inside the unit and that seemed to fix the problem.

Deljo has worked for me many years. They installed my high-efficiency furnace. They have done some great work. On November 20, 2009 the PVC furnace exhaust pipe shifted. The pipe disconnected from the external template where it exits the basement wall. The pipe opening ended up inside the basement below the exit hole and was blocked. The safety system worked and shut down the furnace. Deljo came out within 24 hours. They added a hanger strap to put the pipe back in place. They also reglued the pipe to the outside template. The cost for this repair was $89.00 On Christmas Day 2010 this connection slipped again at the outside wall template the same spot as Novemenber 2009. This time it moved so half the pipe was blocked by the exit template and half the pipe was open to the outside. Because some air was moving through the pipe to outside the furnace did not shut down. Also I found this shift caused a PVC pipe joint to loosen. Water was dripping ever so slowly from the joint to create a small puddle, maybe a couple tablespoons on the floor. I was able to temporarily reconnect the exhaust pipe to the exit template so all exhaust was leaving the basement. I placed a carbon monoxide sensor near the pipe and all exhaust was going outside so I did not call them on Christmas day. I called Deljo Monday, December 27, they came out Tuesday December 28. The service man was exactly on-time. It turns out it was the same person who did the repair 13 months previous. He reconfigured the exhaust and replaced several PVC pipe pieces. But I have to ask should a PVC joint fail ? And for a second time ? The total for both visits added together was $327.00, This time it was $238 which was a discount on this second visit so I paid it in full to the serviceman without questioning it. I'm just not sure if the $89.00 in November 2009 and $238 for the exact same repair 13 months later was the appropriate amount. This is why I gave a rating of B to price and quality rather than all A's.
Description of Work: This invloves two visists for the same problem. The first was $89.00 November 20, 2009. The second and current charge was $238.00 on December 28, 2010. The actual work was to adjust, tighten and resecure the PVC furnace exhasut pipe.

Overall, their work was OK. I had to get the factory tech support people on the phone to help the technician with some of the repairs. On two previous visits, Deljo informed me that "they didn't install the system, so they don't really know how to fix the system." But the time charges continued even as they tried to fix the problem. On one occassion after the technician left, I called the manufacturer of the control box (Tekmar) and they had it fixed in minutes. It was a programming error left by Deljo. On the positive side, they arrived at the scheduled time for each of the four appointments and did try to answer most of my questions.
Description of Work: We found Deljo on Angies List and gave called them based on pretty high ratings on the List. We contracted with them to turn on our radiant heat, forced air and outdoor heating system.

I apologize for the customer feeling that he was charged for time that he was not. The first visit to the home we found that the water had not been turned on and that the system needed to be filled. He was charged for our service call and 15 minutes of labor. The second visit we filled his boiler, hooked up his water heater and started his system. He was charged continuing time and no service call. The service call charge we waived although they should of been responsible. The third time we were called to thier home was for programming the "Tekmar" control. The control is complicated to program and offers a number of options. The options are dependent on what your expectations are (ie: energy cost compared to expectations, response time to conditions and so on.) What works for one person may not be how the next person wants it. Just like a thermostat in your home, some people like it warm and do not care what it costs and some people want it cooler and then wear something warm. We spent two additional hours at his house programming the control and the homeowner was not charged for our time. Not a dime was collected for our third visit, "courtesy" was written on the bottom of the invoice. Fourth visit was to install some parts on his glychol fill station that were found to have failed on an earlier visit.

I called for an appointment and was able to schedule on the day that was convenient for me. I received a reminder voice message the day before my appointment. The technician arrived during the two-hour window specified by my appointment. He knocked on the door rather than ring the bell. I thought that my doorbell was not working but he said that he doesn't want to wake sleeping babies so he knocks first. While I don't have a baby, I considered this very thoughtful. The technician inspected and cleaned the two four-year old furnaces and replaced the pads on two four-year old furnace humidifiers. One humidifier has had problem leaks in the past. The technician ran the this furnace for a longer time to check that there was no leaking of the humidifier. The technician noticed the packages of new furnace filters that I purchased and suggested that they were too restrictive for the kind of furnaces that I owned and could damage them. He suggested that I return them and told me which type to purchase. I appreciate this type of information.
Description of Work: Cleaned and checked two gas furnaces. Replaced pads in two furnace humidifiers.

Initally Deljo was called to service an in place boiler. The initial diagnosis was that the main heating element was needed to be replaced. A new part was ordered, but then the boiler still did not function as the problem was mis-diagnosed. Assured that the existing part could be returned, we were convinced to purchase a new boiler and would be credited against the $600+ part. Once the new boiler was installed, Deljo reneged on this commitment, raised the price of the installation, and did not credit for the part. last year we had to shut down the boiler due to an apparent gas leak. When we attempted to place the boiler in service this weekend, we called for an inspection of the possible leak, but now they refuse to repair their work and charged $36 for a service call, despite the unit still being within 1 year parts and labor warranty.

The customer's last call to us was for no heat. When we arrived at his home we found the gas line turned off. When the service technician showed him he then remembered that he had shut it off earlier in the year when he smelled gas. We were not notified when he turned it off. We offered to repair the gas line at a cost of time and material, because the gas line was not installed by us. We would be willing to repair this gas leak for no charge for good customer service, no differently as if they would of called and expressed there disappointment directly to us. Regarding the purchase price of the boiler. The cutomer was charged the price that was listed on the invoice that he signed. The $600.00+ part was deducted from the price he signed for.

A great bargain and excellent service! I strongly recommend this company.
Description of Work: I had a problem with a rooftop commercial heater/AC unit. The AC compressor failed to shut off appropriately. I called another company that came out 3 times without resolving the problem, and at considerable cost. I contacted the manufacturer, Trane, and their service department was very difficult to deal with - they made you first get financial clearence, charged a minimum of I think $700 for a service call, and failed to return phone calls. Hence, I never used their service, Finally, i called Deljo. They sent a serviceman that same day. He spent about an hour checking the system, accurately determine the fault, cleared the repair with me, replaced the faulty part with a new part that he had on his truck, and then explained to me in detail all that he did. The service call was around $120 and the part cost around $165. Plus I got an Angies list $25 discount..

Scheduled to come out at 8:00am with a call 15mts prior which did not occur til they arrived at 8:00am Then the Deljo representative/worker comes to my terrace door with a quart of Gatorade in hand and mouth full of food, eating and drinking while conversing with me with food spitting out of his mouth. At this point, not too confident of the level of professionalism and competence to do the work on my new roof for the air conditioning unit. Next, the Deljp rep/worker needed to go around to the gate in which I told him three times the four single digit numbers needed to enter the security gate, in turn he could not remember one minute late when he drove around to the entry gate. Now I was even less assured of their competence and decided to call Deljo to reschedule for a new crew I would feel more at ease of their competence level The owner Bill called me and said because I was so angry (who wouldn't be considering their incompetence caused me to have to reschedule a business meeting) perhaps I should consider another company. Incidentally, I as a customer have been using their services for 10 years including a new furnace yet the employee, the owner raved about whose name is Ralph, has been in their employment for three years. Thus, a three Year employee trumps a ten year customer. I noticed Deljo's ratings are high and mine were also but buyer beware when problems or incompoetence occurs.......the question is how do they resolve such problems. My situation, by a tenured customer til now, provides you with again an incompetent remedy provided by one of their owners Bill.

I highly recommend them. They were bang-on estimate. They completely followed my direction in terms of how I wanted the job performed. They made certain that I was able to stay in my house while the work was being completed, as they limited the time without heat and provided alternate heating so that we did not have to stay in a hotel while the work was done. They were clean and courteous and completed the job earlier than expected.

Were responsive from beginning, following a phone call, a visit to the house for an estimate and then arrangement of a time to come and implement. Had more than one estimate and this was $1,000 below.(the other may have been inflated!) Came and did the work professionally and am very satisifed with what was done. They also offered advice about an upstairs unit that was reasonable and gave me a basis for not spending an additional $1,400.

They were very responsive from the first phone call, found a time within a week that would work for me and gave me a 2 hour window for the appointment. The technician arrived well within that window, and went to work on both units. He changed the filter for my tenants and even found some wood to prop up one of the units that had begun to sink into the muddy back yard. He was very professional and helpful, answering questions and explaining along the way. I bought a package for the year from Deljo, which covers both A/C and furnace checks for both of my units, as well as priority service calls if needed. I will definitely use them again.

My home has two furnaces, one in the basement and a larger one on the main floor. I noticed on Monday afternoon, Jan. 18, that the living room was rather chilly, even though the furnace was running. When I checked the basement, I found that the furnace there wasn't putting out any heat at all. So, the next morning, after checking Angie's List, I called Deljo Heating and scheduled an appointment for 3 p.m. that day. And right at 3 p.m., the technician, Mike, was at my front door. He immediately got to work checking the furnace and fairly quickly told me that the inducer motor was bad. He asked if I wanted to repair the furnace if the part could be located (it was 15 years old) or did I want to consider replacing the furnace. I opted for repair and he got busy on the phone.
