+ 0 moreDawid was recommended by our neighbor just about at the end of my process for selecting a painter. However he responded very quickly my call and was able to come over the next day to look over the house. He walked through the house with me asking questions on what I wanted to do and then asked for some time to go through it by himself and take additional notes. He then sent me an e-mail three days later with a completed bid. Very quick turnaround even though he as with the other painters did not fill in my Request for Proposal. His price was about 40% higher than my lowest and about 30% higher than the average bid though he responded that they would put two paints of coat on each wall as I had requested so that may have something to do with the higher bid. The other's who responded said that I only needed one coat and had priced it that way even though my RFP had requested 2 coats. Given the higher price and his late inclusion, I didn't pursue this but given his prompt responsiveness I would consider him in the future.
Description of Work: I asked for a detailed proposal to paint our 3 story house both the interior and exterior. The exterior mainly consisted of a wrought iron fence, several metal and stone staircases and exterior doors. The interior was to do the walls, trim, windows, closets and ceilings. I had developed a request for proposal that put all the specifications on it in detail as several sites had suggested I do on the internet. I asked 4 bidders from Angie's List to bid plus a neighbor's recommendation and a selection from Costco. I asked for separate bids for the main level, the upper level, the lower level and the exterior as I wasn't sure I would do all the work continously. My RFP tried to break out the labor and material cost by level and tried to identify the hours required to do the prep work and hours required to do painting for primer, first coat and 2nd coat.
