The service was great. Honest, straightforward, and reasonably priced. I'll add that after I purchased the car, I brought it back to Damen Auto because I heard what I thought was a knock in the engine (a persistent ticking). Harry, who works the desk there, is personable, knowledgeable and straightforward. He showed me the scope they would use to check out the timing belt and, because I got in early in the morning, they looked at the car first thing. I got the call on my cell and Harry said that there was no problem, that the sound from the engine was typical of my car's make and model. Frankly, they could have told me anything and I would have paid for the repair, but these folks are honest!

I had a 2002 vehicle checked out by this outfit. I arrived later than the seller did, and the seller had already had a talk with a staff member. After they checked out the car, they said that there was nothing wrong with it. A few months later, I heard what I thought was a knock in the engine. I took the car back to this place, and they said anything could have happened over those few months. I took it to two other places and they told me not to drive the car on the highway and not to put another penny into it, it was in such bad shape. I find it hard to believe that the car could have developed so many/such a serious problem/s over the course of a few months. I can't completely attest to the fact that the mechanics were influenced by the seller, but even if this isn't the case, I was sorely disappointed.

Look no further, Damen Auto Repair & Body Shop is truly as good as it gets! I read great reviews for this shop but brought in my badly damaged VW Tiguan equipped with 2 other estimates in my back pocket--in case they tried to take advantage of my clear lack of auto-repair knowledge. Thankfully Damen Auto Repair did not over-charge me and instead gave me a more-than-fair quote--saving me hundreds of dollars. They then quickly fixed the copious amount of damage on my back bumper and tail light (with factory-authorized parts) AND for significantly less than 2 other well-reviewed auto body shops. What Damen Auto Repair lacks in ambience, the shop more than makes up for in price, courteous service and all in a highly convenient Bucktown location.
