CUSTOM CONSTRUCTION & REHAB INC

I chose Bob after receiving three quotes. He seemed to be the most honest, but as this was my first time choosing a contractor (I did not have Angie's List then), I didn't know the questions to ask. I didn't realize he would hire sub-contractors (yes, I was naive), which is what pushed the price up. I never received an itemized list of costs, and the job took longer than expected. Although I liked Bob's design ideas, I was disappointed with the end result. They installed a vanity for one sink, even though I have two. His sub-contractor assured me that they could fix the issue. He had a plumber come over who said the pipes could not be moved. One of the subcontractors came back and cut a notch in each drawer to go around the pipe. I agreed to this because I just wanted to job finished. One of the drawers still does not fit around the pipes, and no one has ever come back to correct it. The grout in the shower is already cracking, just five months after they installed it.

The only good thing that came out of this experience was that I now have some very good subcontractors for future projects (electrician & plumber). Mr. Goodman was recommended to me by a friend who saw his work approximately 10 years ago. The quality of workmanship and the labor used has deteriorated over the years. Mr. Goodman uses laborers who barely speak English, so trying to communicate with them about issues of the work being done was close to impossible. They were unprofessional and the workmanship was poor, at best. I was told at the start of the project that it would take about 3-4 months to complete. About 2 months into the project, I had to call him everyday to find out if he was going to have his workers at the project to complete the work. He did not seem to have any set schedule for the work. Once he had 2/3 of his payment, the project slowed considerably. Mr. Goodman was not honest or reliable.

THEY STARTED WORK IN JUNE AND HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE WORK. THEIR WORK IS OF A VERY POOR QUALITY. THEY LEFT DEBRIS ON THE PROPERTY, AND DO NOT USE A DUMPSTER. THW OWNER WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL; HE CALLS ME CRAZY AND DOES NOT RESPECT THE PROPERTY OR ME. HIS WORKERS SHOWED UP VERY LATE IN THE DAY AND LEFT EARLY. HE HAD PROMISED THE JOB WOULD BE COMPLETED BY AUGUST 16, 2004 AND IT IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO FINISHED. DO NOT HIRETHEM. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE TOOLS TO DO THE JOB, THEY BORROWED MY LADDER, USED MY PAINT BRUSHES AND TOOLS FOR SANDING. THE OWNER DOES NOT DO THE WORK; HE USES INDIVIDUALS WITH NO EXPERIENCE. IN FACT THE OWNER DOES NOT COME TO THE WORK SITE.
