Not well. I felt I had been ripped off.
Description of Work: On 2 occasions I had diagnostic and repair work (once a bad contact on the motherboard, once for virus removal). They were nice enough but overcharged me and tried to sell additional products I did not need. Specifically, they wanted to see me Norton Internet Security when I told them I already had the latest Norton 360 (which includes all the programs in Internet Security plus others).

They guys there are nice enough. However, every single time without fail that we've taken a computer in for a repair or an upgrade they've tried to sell us something else...many times, an entirely new, refurbished computer. Once we actually did trade in our old computer and bought one from them for $400, a reasonable price. However, after many dealings with them, my co-workers and I have the distinct impression that when they don't know what a problem is or how to fix it, they really push you to buy one of their refurbished computers. One time when we took in a $900 computer for a repair they told us the motherboard was fried and that we should "trade it in" for one of their refurbished computers, plus a few hundred bucks. We ate the $50 diagnosis fee and had someone else look at it. It turned out the operating system just needed to be uninstalled and reinstalled, and that it was a Windows XP compatibility issue...solved in about 30 minutes with some free advice from a friend.
Description of Work: At my work, we have used CSP for repairs many times, so my comments relate more generally to many experiences with them, not just one. We've used them mostly for repairs, sometimes for memory upgrades or operating system upgrades on both laptops and PC's. They charge a $50 fee for "diagnosis." Sometimes this fee is warranted, of course, when you don't know what's wrong. However, they mandate this "diagnosis" fee even when the problem is obvious. However, they supposedly use the fee toward the total bill if you give them the go-ahead to perform the work once they've done the diagnosis. If you say "no thanks" on the repairs, you're out the $50, which is fair, I guess. However, their yellow diagnosis sheets don't provide a breakout, so it's impossible to tell whether or not the total cost is really being offset with the diagnosis fee, or if they're just increasing the total bill so you don't end up saving anything.

CSP WAS VERY KNOWLEGABLE AND COURTEOUS. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM ON THE SPOT AND DETAILED THE SOLUTION ALONG WITH AN ESTIMATE. THE COMPUTERS WERE FIXED AND WORKED FINE.
Description of Work: MY LAP TOP COMPUTERS WERE NOT WORKING. THEY WOULD FREEZE OR NOT TURN ON AT ALL.

THEY TOOK $90 DOWN AND CHARGED ANOTHER $215 FOR 2 GB OF RETRIEVED DATA ON A DVD-ROM, WHICH WAS PROMPTLY DONE THE NEXT DAY. HOWEVER, NEARLY ALL THE 2GB OF DATA WAS CRYPTIC FOLDER NAMES WITH NO FILES INSIDE. THE FILE NAMES THAT WERE THERE HAD 0 OR 1 KB OF DATA ONLY, ESSENTIALLY BLANK AND USELESS. A 20-SOMETHING COMPUTER TECHNICIAN AT MY LAW FIRM RECOVERED ALL THE DATA FROM THE SAME CRASHED HARD DRIVE TWO DAYS LATER WITH ALL THE ORIGINAL FILE NAMES INTACT. CSP REFUSES TO REFUND ANY MONEY PAID, BUT OFFERS ONLY A $150 STORE CREDIT VERSUS THE $315 PAID, FOR NOTHING. SURE THEY WORKED AT IT, FOR 8 HOURS, BUT SPECIALISTS ARE SUPPOSED TO SUCCEED, NOT JUST TRY. NICE PEOPLE, BUT A REALLY CRUMMY DEAL! I MAY CONTEST THE CREDIT CARD BILLING FOR THE MAIN WORK, LEAVING THEM WITH JUST THE $90 INITIAL FEE, THE MOST THEY POSSIBLY EARNED. VERY PROMISING, BUT NO DELIVERY ON A DATA RECOVERY TASK AND NO REFUND, JUST A 40% STORE CREDIT.
Description of Work: THEY ADVERTISE ''DATA RECOVERY'' IN THE YELLOW PAGES, SAID ON THE PHONE THEY COULD HANDLE A NEW, BUT CRASHED ATA SERIAL HARD DRIVE (DELL COMPUTER), TO RETRIEVE DATA FROM IT.
