Crescent Movers

Crescent was one of three moving companies I called for an estimate for this long distance move, and I chose them because the price was the best and they were so reassuring that all would go well and I wouldn't have to worry about anything--they would take care of it all. That's exactly how the move turned out. If anything, I was a little worried about how hard Alex, Jimmy and their crews worked; they only took breaks when I insisted, and they worked non-stop to carefully wrap everything and get it out the door asap. It was amazing to me how hard they worked; everything was delivered the next morning, as promised, including a baby grand piano. This kind of over-the-top service is so rare these days. I'm very glad I went with the company, and I recommend them without reservation.

The movers showed up late but were okay folks to work with. However, several of our items were scratched in the process.

Excellent service and great price. 3 men arrived about 30 mins early. Carlos was the "lead guy" he explained everything and went over all the paper work. They worked quickly and efficiently. They took extra care with all of our furniture and boxes and asked which room we wanted each box in when unloading. They were super polite and engaging. They worked for 6 hours straight and never even stopped for lunch (though I advised them to). They made the moving experience as pleasant as it could possibly be!

It went okay. The team showed up just at the end of the window provided to me and loaded up. They took an unconventional approach to listing things from downstairs, handing them up over a railing, but nothing broke so I guess worked. They worked quickly and efficiently though so I have to appreciate that when paying by the hour. All in all went well. Best price of all the companies I called and reasonable service.

They did a good job. It was a last minute, larger job and they were very polite and professional throughout.

You get what you pay for......caveat emptor. The movers were hard working (but must have been/be severely underpaid). Aside from sneaking furniture back in the house that would not fit inside (nor outside) the truck, they were brazen in asking for gratuities. Upon final destination they insulted my wife by claiming their gratuity was "nothing" while raising their voice at 2:30 AM in our new neighborhood. You get what you pay for. Spend the few bucks more and deal with people who are paid to do a job and do not live off tax free gratuities. i only regret I was not present upon final destination. Not only would I have rewarded them, both parties would have finished with a smile. I informed/invited the senior/manager that I was responsible for gratuities and to contact me directly upon return. To date, no word. I am not a cheapskate, but don't mess with my family. BEWARE: as though you know nothing, tipping ranges between 8 - 15%.

First of all Walter and Jimmy showed up half an hour early and that was a good sign. They presented themselves very professionally and very happy to be working. They were very helpful with our requests and made us very comfortable. My mom is 89 years old and they made her feel like a queen. Their politeness was amazing. They took care of every item like it was theirs, with great care. The entire time they were working they had a smile. They covered things without asking even if we felt that was not needed. In Indianapolis my sister was waiting and she reported, on how much help they were with the set up in each room and the same how professional Jimmy and Walter treated every item. Also the office has a person answering the phone and gives info right away. Alex one of the administrator explain a lot when questions were raised and was cordial. Walter and Jimmy are KEEPERS

Great experience with Crescent. They were very responsive via phone and went over all the details they needed to estimate a price. We estimated about $700 for three guys and the truck, and the end price turned out to be about $150 less since we finished ahead of schedule (I wound up being the 4th mover) and we provided a good amount of packing tape that they otherwise would have charged us for. The movers themselves were very professional- taking care when carrying our stuff, and asking where we wanted things to go. GREAT crew. There was no standing around with these guys- they moved quick, careful and efficient. Another item of note is this company doesn't charge you for their travel time, as some of the others do. The clock starts when they show up at your house.

On May 16 (11 days ago) I accepted a task from an overburdened family member to find a reliable moving company to help move her mother's furniture from her present home in a Chicago suburb, to an assisted living facility in central Wisconsin, a move that had suddenly become imminent, due to significant changes in her mother's health. I haven't personally been involved in any such moving in many decades, and had long since forgotten anything I learned from my own experiences, half a lifetime ago. Given the number of companies that popped up during internet searches, the assignment was daunting--and the clock was ticking. In a lucky moment, I found "Angie's List" and attempted to narrow my search--and increase the probability of finding a good company. In short order, I found a local company, Crescent Movers, that Angie's List rated quite positively. Although the precise date of the move was not certain, we knew that it was but a matter of days. The problem was to ascertain the exact day that we needed to move the furniture. So, despite the fact that we could not precisely identify the moving date, I made contact with Crescent Movers. Crescent staff members were very helpful from the start, doing everything possible to keep complexity to a minimum, while helping us to set up a preliminary plan that would work with their schedule. We had to change our moving date three times during that brief period of time, and they were patient, helpful and sympathetic throughout. Finally we were able to name a date that worked with their schedule--who'd think that a moving company would work on Memorial Day? Crescent worked on this Memorial Day. The movers showed up, as scheduled, and the three-man team simply amazed us with their careful packaging of items and speed of loading, finishing the loading within an hour and a half. We were especially impressed with their handling of an incredibly big sectional sofa, so large in the relatively small condominium space that we speculated that the building must have been erected around it, because we could not imagine how anyone might have moved it in through the narrow, angular entry points. The moving team was stumped for a few minutes, and then found a way to carefully slip the well-wrapped furniture out of the incredibly cramped space. They then delivered everything to the Wisconsin location, where a friend of the family was able to guide them in the unloading and placement of the items. A professional who manages workers in similar conditions, he reported that they performed in "stellar" fashion--and he has high standards. So, for me, the fundamental message is that Angie's List enabled us to venture into an important, but completely unfamiliar kind of transaction, in which we were able to quickly connect with a company that was perfect for our needs--including the price, which we felt was quite reasonable. The second part of that is that we found Crescent Movers to be a terrific choice for our needs. Well done, both groups!

They did a great job, we were very impressed. I have been through 6 moves before and they were by far the best movers I have ever used. They were extremely professional and showed up on time and worked for nearly 16 hours straight without a break. They were very careful with our belongings and wrapped them with care and nothing was damaged upon arrival at our place. We also asked them to move two 450 lb. wine fridges up multiple sets of narrow stairs (we live in a townhome in the city), and they were able to do it successfully, without creating any damage to our newly painted walls and newly stained floors, and the fridges themselves. Of the places we spoke to for estimates, their price was also very reasonable. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and would use them again.

The team of three arrived on time and took good care of my things. The price was competitive but the company did take credit cards which was an advantage over other companies I got estimates from. It was a good experience and I would use them again.

I contacted Crescent Movers for an estimate. After a brief conversation on the logistics, I was told that I would receive an email with the estimate. Within hours I received the email with a detailed estimate. This was much more impressive and professional than the other companies I contacted, and less expensive for each additional hour, so I hired them. On the day of the move, Jimmy's Team: Omar, Walter, and Justin, arrived on time (per my Mother's report as I was stuck at my house closing), and promptly set to work. These guys were amazing! They were extremely hard-working and efficient. They were all in a constant state of motion, loading boxes quickly but carefully into the truck. They took care to wrap and tape breakable items to secure them fully. They took apart beds and furniture, moved them and re-assembled them (6+ hours later), without problems. I can't adequately describe how hard these guys worked with virtually no breaks. They never complained or took short cuts. By the end they were all completely exhausted. What had been planned as a 4 hour move (my new house was only a single block away!), turned into an 8 hour ordeal. I was absolutely impressed with the entire move, from start to finish. Kudos to Jimmy and has most excellent team! Thanks again for making a stressful moving process as painless as could be done. I highly recommend Crescent Movers.

Crescent Movers does a great job from start to finish. They were very careful with our breakables, particularly our piano.

This was the first time I had used movers. I received several quotes from providers and Crescent was very competitive. I felt comfortable with their customer service rep and his answers to my questions so I booked with them and couldn't have been happier. They came on time and got to work immediately. They made sure to wrap furniture and other items that were relatively expensive. I provided my own tape as they allow that and that reduced some of the cost as they will go through a lot and it's charged by the roll. All of our furniture and boxes arrived and without any damage. They did a good job of explaining the whole process, were friendly and professional and very efficient. These are guys that do this full time and it shows in their work. They ended up finishing under budget so were also please there as well. Would definitely use Crescent again in the future and recommend them to any one looking for movers.

They brought 3 guys. They showed up on time, padded what we asked them to, and didn't break or scratch anything. They even offered to put a dinning table back together. The finished everything in about 2 hours. The price of $330 final was below base quotes from other companies. Highly recommended.

The move went very well. The moving crew (4 men) were on time, courteous, hard working, and very efficient w/ their time. I was amazed at how many boxes these guys could put on their backs and how fast they could dis-assemble and re-assemble furniture. Everything was moved quickly, yet with great care. They even did their best to maximize space in their truck and were able to fit a lot of our miscellaneous items from our basement storage as well. Surprisingly, the entire move from Oak Park to Lombard only took 6 hours. I was more than pleased with the entire moving experience! This is the second time I had experience with this moving company, as my Dad used them to move one month earlier and we had the same positive experience then as well. The $813 we paid included one hour of travel time and 6 additional roles of packing tape and 6 rolls of shrink wrap. Though it should be noted we had initially provided them w/ 6-8 roles of tape to begin with, but ran out and needed additional rolls.

Even though I have moved 8 times in my life, this was one of the best ones. It was on time, there were no hidden charges, nothing was broken, the team was extremely professional, and my belongings were treated with the care and respect I would have given them myself. I was very nervous and anxious about this move since the situation was compunded by being the result of a divorce. I will definitely use them again. Thank you Alex, Bill, Ray and Ronnie

I called one evening at 7:20, planning on leaving a message, but Alex answered! He took my information and what I was interested in, and said someone would call me the next day. No one did. I called again and spoke with the mgr (Bill?) who was very informative and polite, saying they would pick my stuff up on the 29th, hold the truck for a few days, then deliver the following Monday. Off the top of his head, he thought my 2BR move would be around $3500. Based off this information I made an appt for an in-house estimate. He told me they would arrive btw 4 and 5 p. By 5:30 no on had arrived or called, so I contacted their office. The guy that answered said he'd check into it and have the estimator call me. No one did. I'm glad I found out before the move that they really don't value me as a customer.

They were amazing, every part of teh move was flawless. They were reasonable, polite, showed up on time. They brought 5 guys and two trucks, who worked non-stop, but at a good pace. Nothing was broken during the move, they were outstanding.

It generally went well. It took the four man crew between 9 and 10 hours to move the two truck loads of goods between our old home and our new one. They did drop and seriously damage the dual track audio cassette tape player/recorder part of our audio system, but subsequently reimbursed me when I had to purchase a replacement. The edge of one table was damaged, so my partner had to repair it. Some house plants were damaged beyond recovery.

The price might have been like $800. The job went well. They were pretty good. They knew their stuff. Whatever they required, they brought it along with them. So, they were pretty professional. We had no elevators; so they were pretty good at bringing our furniture and everything two levels up. They had no issues about it. Overall, they were decent and pretty good. I didn’t compare prices. I would use them again.

Everything went great, very personable team, hardworking, they may not be the strongest movers I have ever seen but they surely had the most willingness to please the client.

They showed up promptly and moved all our belongings, in only one trip. They shrink wrapped the couch and taped up the drawers on all the dressers to protect the furniture. The cost ended up being about twice the original estimate. I realize it ended up taking longer then planned so I understand it being higher but it was a little rough that the estimate was that far off. Still they did a good job overall. The only real complaint is that a few items got damaged including some glass which were crushed by a carrying strap even though the box was labeled fragile. They left most of the items on the first floor but took the bed up to the second floor for us. Everything was stacked neatly and well organized so it was easy to unpack. They also carried out some old pieces of furniture that had been left in the house and were too heavy for us to move, even help arrange disposal of a metal sink top.

They showed up early, with 2 extra guys (which increased our hourly price) and worked quickly. They were a little ruff with our stuff but we didn't give them very many breakables. We mentioned the Angie's list cupon which they redeemed. The price turned out to be about what we thought it was. Overall I guess this was a good buy.

Everything went surprisingly smoothly. Good crew worked hard. Moved a lot of stuff very efficiently. Charges were fair and as promised. Will use again.
