I can't say enough positive things about Covers Unlimited. I worked very closely with Kevin to get estimates, coordinate delivery, and pick out fabric. He and his team are wonderful and I am so grateful to have found such a professional, friendly, and cost effective upholsterer!

I could not be more pleased with my experience with Covers Unlimited. It was a pleasure to work with Sarah and Cary from start to finish. They are extremely responsive, knowledgeable, and helpful, and unfailingly pleasant. They finished well ahead of schedule, and the new cushions are beautiful - and a perfect fit. I would not hesitate to use them again. I highly recommend Covers Unlimited.

I had a leather sofa and loveseat set that were only about 5 years old but had been ravaged by my cat. The frame and cushions were very solid, but the leather was trashed and beyond refurbishing. I chose Covers Unlimited based on the reviews I read on Angie's List, their price quote which was about 30% less than two other companies I had contacted, and their responsiveness to my inquiries. I'm so happy that I decided to go with Covers Unlimited, my experience with them was fantastic! I initially called their main number directly and was told that I could send photos and dimensions of my pieces to Sarah, who would get back to me with a quote. Sarah was super easy to work with, with the majority of our communications happening conveniently through email. Within a few days I was told how much fabric I would need, had recommendations for three fabric stores ranging from high end to discount warehouse, a cost estimate for the labor, and an estimated project timeline. I had a few follow-up questions and received responses the same day. Covers Unlimited met their timeline as promised. The finished sofa and loveseat are gorgeous and look brand new! The fabric I went with has a lined horizontal pattern, so I was slightly worried that the fabric might not be laid straight, but every line one every surface of my two pieces is perfectly horizontal, both front and back, even under and behind the cushions. The stitching is consistent and firm, and there are hidden zippers on all the cushions so that I can remove the covers to be cleaned. And, to make the experience even more satisfying, the delivery service they use arrived exactly when they said they would for both pick-up and delivery, and were extremely polite and careful to not ding my other furniture when they moved the items. I can't say enough about how happy I am with the end product and with the service received!

No complaints and highly recommend Covers Unlimited & Kevin! I do not have enough praises for their company! Decided to chose them because: 1) quick responses/replies & punctuality Our form of communication was through email, I had sent pictures and measurements of our pieces. Kevin acknowledged my email immediately and said that he'll get back to me with an estimate and after a few hours he gave me the breakdown of the cost. Any email I would send would always get an answer within a few hours from Kevin. They gave us a 4-6weeks estimate. They got the furniture May15 we got it back July9. We were suppose to get it July3 but we wouldn't be home till the 8th so bright and early on July 9 our furniture was delivered. There was a slight delay because of the replacement of the springs but we were informed immediately of that delay and considering it was to make sure that the quality of furniture they'd give us back was only the best--that is hardly something to complain about! 2) the cost Compared to the 3 other companies that I had asked an estimate from, Covers Unlimited had the lowest quote with a two toned option, which was what the original pieces were. 3) quality work/great craftsmanship Everyone who's seen our furniture are now regretting letting go of their vintage furniture. Everything was grade A+++! Stitching was impressive and wood finishing was remarkable! The cushions/foam they use are earth friendly & green/organic! Bravo for being environmentally conscious! :) ( Kevin will explain it much better when you guys talk to him) They also stayed true to the original concept of the furniture pieces. 4) honestly, transparency & professionalism From the start, Kevin never made us feel "uneasy" (as opposed to the other companies I had contacted for this project). He explained how everything would be done, he updated me every step of the way--from the arrival of our furniture at their shop, to choosing the stitching they would do for our cushions (banded vs. knife edge), he sent me pictures when I suggested that the fabric for the frame be used for the buttons instead of the cushion's fabric (good thing he did, coz my idea blew!!! LOL) Kevin also pointed us to a fabric store in the Pilsen neighborhood & told us who to talk to to get an additional discount on the fabrics so we could save more (We got the fabric for the frame at $12.95/yd, but at Joann fabrics it was being sold for $49.99/yd! We saved a bundle!) Even the delivery service they used was amazingly polite & efficient! All I can say is, if you're looking for any reupholstery to be done--GO WITH COVERS UNLIMITED! You wouldn't regret it! And always go to Kevin's "Fabrics 101" and listen to his suggestions--he'll never steer you wrong!

We are thrilled with both the loveseat and bench cushion. Both were in decent condition but in need of some new life. After talking with a number of vendors, reviewing estimates and reading online reviews, Covers Unlimited was an easy choice for us. Kevin made sure we understood all of our options and worked with us to stay within our budget. He maintained contact with us throughout the project and was always responsive and pleasant. In the end, we have two beautiful, custom pieces.

Went vey smooth on time when promised

We contacted Kevin at Covers Unlimited by email, sending him dimensions of the pieces and pictures. He gave us a quote for labor and the amount of fabric (yardage) that would be needed. He also gave us the name of two places where upholstery fabric could be bought at a significant discount (mill ends, stores closing buyouts, etc). We visited Covers Unlimited workspace and got Kevin's "5 minute" education on fabric. Although I sew, his information on how to pick out appropriate fabric was very helpful. We went from the shop to the first fabric place he recommended, and after looking at a lot of fabric we found something we loved, at a fraction of what we would have paid elsewhere (17 yards of fabric for $8.99 per yard). Although they offer pickup and delivery for an additional fee, our pieces easily fit in the back of our SUV, so we chose to transport them ourselves. We delivered the pieces and fabric to Covers Unlimited on November 26 and were told it would be 3 to 4 weeks to completion, and they would try to complete them before Christmas. On December 19 Kevin emailed us that they would be finished that day, and we told him we would pick them up on December 21. Everything we ready when we arrived and they looked great. We had asked that they try to make the legs of the two pieces as close to the same wood-tone as possible, and now they match, color-wise. Their people had helped us unload when we took the pieces in, and now they took the pieces down to the parking area (parking is easy, by the way) and helped us load them. We obtained 3 quotes from Angie's List contractors for this work and Covers Unlimited offered the lowest quote and helped us save significant money on fabric. We are new in the area and thus were unaware of where to go for this fabric, although we knew such places had to exist in Chicago. We are very pleased and will use them again if we need further reupholstering work done.

Over the years I had unfortunately relaxed my rule that the dogs were not ever allowed on the furniture, on the assumption that I could always wipe the leather couch cushions clean. No, I could not: The things absolutely reeked, and after a rather unsuccessful stab at getting them refurbished, I eventually realized I'd either have to replace the whole couch or get new cushions made. I called Covers Unlimited to rescue the situation. I talked with Cary Weinstein, whose first questions spoke volumes about the integrity of the company: Before we went too far into details, he wanted to be sure the couch was solidly built and likely to last a long time. He told me leather upholstery is expensive, because cowhides are expensive, and he didn't want to do a major repair job on a piece of furniture that wasn't going to hold up. Once I described the couch, Cary took on my sad case, and was incredibly flexible and helpful through the process. After we discussed my options, I sent Cary a piece of the leather from one of the cushions, then Cary ordered samples of leather and mailed them to me so I could pick the closest match. I didn't want to schlep all the way down to 18th street, so with Cary's guidance I measured my cushions and the couch, and dropped off an example cushion at his home, which was much closer to where I live. Covers Unlimited created three beautiful cushions within a couple of weeks of their receiving the new cowhides, and I was able to pick them up at Cary's home, again saving me a drive downtown. I have to talk about the workmanship on these things: Even though my couch was an expensive Mitchell Gold couch, the cushions were not reversible--they had a partial fabric backing. Cary explained that that wasn't necessarily a sign of cheapness, but that it was to allow air to flow out when the cushions were compressed. But he also told me he could make reversible cushions that accomplished the same thing. So now I have cushions I can flip over! I also noticed that one corner of each of the new cushions wasn't exactly square, but rather kind of curved into a little point. I thought this was weird, until I put the cushions on the couch and realized that those little points curved back and fit precisely into the corners of the couch, accommodating the slight outward curve of the couch back. Everything fits together snugly, with no gaps. I had also asked that the cushions be very firm, since I'm not comfortable sinking into upholstered furniture. Cary made sure the foam he used was extra firm, so there's a wonderful tautness to the seat. Cary bent over backwards to make this process convenient for me, he was willing (and able!) to answer all my questions, he was unfailingly pleasant to work with (his wife is nice, too!), and he did a fantastic job constructing flawless, perfectly-fitting, gorgeous cushions. My couch is good for at least another fifteen years--so though this job wasn't cheap, in the long run it saved me thousands of dollars by letting me keep the couch I love instead of trying to replace it. Oh, yeah, the dogs are not allowed on the couch anymore. :-)

After receiving a recommendation from a friend and confirming via Angie's List, we sent photos of the chairs and sofa to Cary and he gave a preliminary estimate of costs. After they picked up the furniture, we went to the shop and discussed options about how to handle the improvements and agreed on a price. A few days before the due date for completion, they called to say they had underestimated by a yard the amount of fabric needed and would be obtaining the additional fabric from the supplier. We appreciated that we did not have to do this on our own, but this delayed the delivery by several days. Covers Unlimited's normal process involves picking up (or having you deliver) the furniture as soon as you order the work, then it sits on their floor for several weeks until they are ready to work on it, which can take a couple of more weeks. This means you are likely to be without your furniture for 6 weeks or so. I encourage them to consider a more just-in-time approach, that allows the customer to keep their furniture until Covers Unlimited is ready to do the work. Naturally we appreciate an approach that focuses on quality rather than speed.

They were very polite. They did a great job. I would recommend them highly.

The process from start to finish was excellent. I emailed a photo of a chair I wanted to reupholster to Covers Unlimited and within a day received an email from Kevin with a price. He also recommended an excellent place where I was able to choose from an huge selection of fabrics. For both the pickup and delivery, they worked with my schedule by arranging pickup and delivery first thing in the morning (8am). They arrived right on time for both pickup and delivery. Before starting the work, Kevin called and recommended a process they do to renew finish on the wood surfaces. It was well worth it for only $40 additional. The work was completed within a few days. When I received the chair I couldn't believe how good it looked. The quality of the workmanship was excellent. I highly recommend the services of this company.

Kevin Shapin, the guy who runs it is super professional and very quick with his feedback. There were days when we would email him three or four times and we always got a response within an hour.

I sent the company a photo and description of the sofa by email. They provided a prompt estimate based upon that information. Their estimate was considerably less than that of other companies. They also provided me with a suggestion for a source of low cost fabric and education on how to choose quality fabric. They were flexible in the timing of the delivery of the sofa to the plant and returning it to me. I am very pleased with their work.

They gave me two options, each with a different price point. Everything they were going to do was explained to me in great detail, which I really appreciated. My cushions are now much more aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. I'm really happy with how everything turned out. I also want to mention how accommodating Covers Unlimited was as far as scheduling.

COVERS ULIMITED WAS RECOMMENDED TO ME BY A FRIEND, SO I EMAILED CARY WEINSTEIN DESCRIBING THE CHAIRS I WANTED DONE (WITH PHOTOS) AND HE RESPONDED PROMPTLY WITH AN ESTIMATE. I SHOPPED FOR FABRIC, AND EMAILED THE SPECS FOR THE ONES I PREFERRED TO HIM. HE ANSWERED THAT THEY WOULD WORK WELL FOR THE APPLICATIONS I HAD IN MIND, AND TOLD ME THE NEEDED YARDAGE. I BOUGHT THE FABRIC AND SENT THE BOLTS, ALONG WITH THE CHAIRS THEMSELVES, WHEN THE HAULERS ARRIVED. LATER THAT DAY, I WENT DOWN TO HIS SHOP TO GO OVER THE PLANS FOR THE WORK IN DETAIL. THREE WEEKS LATER, EXACTLY AS PROMISED, THE CHAIRS WERE DELIVERED. THE UPHOLSTERY WORKMANSHIP IS EXCEPTIONAL, PLUS THEY WERE ABLE TO GREATLY IMPROVE THE SEATING COMFORT OF THE CHAIRS WITH ADJUSTMENTS TO THE PADDING AND THE CUSHIONS. MY 100-YEAR--OLD CHAIRS ARE READY TO GO THE NEXT 25 YEARS IN STYLE! OUR EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY WAS GREAT: THEY ARE PROMPT, STRAIGHTFORWARD COMMUNICATORS AND ARE GENUINELY INTERESTED IN PLEASING THE CLIENT. THEY MEET THEIR DEADLINES, WERE ON-TIME AND ON-BUDGET, AND MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, THEY TURN OUT A FIRST-CLASS PRODUCT.

Everything went really well, friendly, punctual, professional and they did a great job.

They were wonderful to work with. First, their estimate on the sofa re-upholstery job came in quite a bit lower than others, and they stuck with that estimate to the end. Second, they helped us think through the design issues and find the right fabric for us,at the right price. Third, they gave us reasonable estimates on the two add-on jobs (cane rocker, make pillows) we gave them. Fourth, their pick-up and delivery service was prompt and professional. Fifth, they communicated with us frequently during the process, even e mailing us photos of the disassembled sofa. But sixth and most importantly, the quality of the work was wonderful.

I went there with pictures of the two chairs and asked for an estimate and how they proposed making the cushions. They described options (top stitch, cording, etc.) and asked me to make them a pattern, which I did. I took the material and the patterns in on Tuesday; they introduced me to the gentleman in charge of making them, and he made some suggestions. The cushions were done on Wednesday; I picked them up on Thursday (along with the left-over fabric).

I was referred to Covers Unlimited by a friend of mine who is a furniture maker. He uses them for any of his projects that involve upholstery. Cary @ Covers Unlimited was really personable and went the extra mile to make sure i was happy. They have stunning attention to detail and their work is flawless. They were originally volume or business to business before but are now starting to take on more consumer business. I live in Belmont-Cragin and there are a bunch of upholstery places within walking distance of our house so i thought i would give a few of them a try for some prices. None of them seemed any less expensive than prices ive gotten in the past so i decided to call Covers Unlimited. They were less expensive than the other places around and much more friendly. The downside for me is that they are just south of downtown but it was worth the trip for the value of work that i got. Plus they are a few seconds from the highway so it isn't a huge deal. The chair and ottoman we had recovered is one of our favorites so i was glad to see it was so well taken-care of. It was completely repadded (this is one thing that good places do, and cheap ones don't. make sure you ask) and any of the loose springs inside were repaired. The legs are exposed along the front (danish modern) and are a dark walnut color. I was not expecting them to refinish the legs but they did and they look amazing. I hadn't ever realized they were bad until i saw how nice they looked afterwards. They also added nylon feet to the bottom of the wooden legs which was a nice touch. Covers unlimited does great work for great prices. It is worth the drive to take your most cherished furniture there. At the very least it is worth a call or email. Cary was great about answering questions and very prompt with returning my emails (this is a big deal to me).

They did excellent work. They gave me recommendations on different types of materials and let me choose. The workmanship was wonderful and so was the finished product. They were very professional.

I had contacted several different vendors for an estimate. Two were from Angie's List, and the other, Covers Unlimited, I received their name from a referral. Not only was Covers Unlimited's price significantly less than all of the other estimates, but they were accommodating, friendly, and professional. They do the work on site (some of the places outsource). And, they even gave me some suggestions on updating the look of my sofa (which I had them do and LOVE). I couldn't be happier with the work, and can't wait to find some more furniture for them to work on for me!
