Todd was very knowledgeable and quickly diagnosed the problem. The problem was what I expected - hard drive did not boot - this I could tell because the light that indicates the hard drive has booted never came on. He replaced the hard drive (about $80), cleaned up the notebook and reinstalled windows XP plus the data from the original hard drive and gave me a better plugin powersourse for $200 - very reasonable. They gave me an accurate estimate which matched what I payed for. They advised me on how to extend the life of my notebook. They have common tasks listed e. g. install Windows with their price in their shop. They service businesses and make housecalls (for a fee) These guys make

I took a used computer in to have the hard drive wiped clean and to have a new operating system installed. The owner said it would cost $150 to do this using Vista as the operating system. The owner then offered to install Windows 7 for the same price as Vista. At the time I did not know that Windows 7 was not out yet. When I picked up the computer I asked how he could have installed Windows 7 and he told me he installed a "1 year trial version" which would no longer be useable after next June. He said I could then come back and have the real version installed for another $150-200 at that time. If I had not questioned him about Windows 7 not being out yet, I would not have found out that I had a trial version until next June. He tried to blame one of his employees for not being up front with me, but had nothing to say when I said that he was my sales person. I had limited time, so I did not stay to argue with him, but called him later that day and the next day, He has not returned my phone calls. I checked him out on the Better Business Bureau website and found that I had made a mistake taking my computer to him.

My laptop was ailing and I took it to these people, asking them what to do. I am aware that computers have planned obsolescence. They said the machine was basically sound but it needed more memory. They said it was worth fixing. I spent nearly $300 on labor and parts and the computer only booted up some of the time after that. After a couple of months, I took it back in and told them that the machine was still not working right. They then determined that one of the "sticks of RAM" they had installed was bad and installed more to the tune of another $100 (without informing me). When the computer still didn't work right and I took it in again, they then told me that the computer was "a lemon." They told me that this computer was known to have a bad processor. I don't understand why they didn't tell me this in the first place--Why did the story change so much? The only thing they offered to do to rectify the situation was to give me half off on recovering the data. He said he would be happy to sell me a new laptop. When I indicated that this was not an acceptable solution, the owner of the place screamed at and hung up on me.
Description of Work: I took a computer in to these people twice. They charged me for new memory and labor but never fixed the problem.

I took my computer to this company because they promised they could fix it with in 24 hours. They did live up to this promise and my computer was running better when they finished working on it. However, rather than replacing the hard drive and restoring the computer, they put in a new hard drive, and "rebuilt" the computer. Problem is, when they rebuilt the machine, it was nothing like what it was previously. So, I had to reinstall most the software program and drivers myself. Furthermore, although they copied the "my documents" folder back onto my machine, they did not copy any other files. Among other things, I lost access to thousands of audio files (the files themselves were transferred to the new hard drive but the licenses weren't, so they are now useless), I lost all of my web page files, and access to emails that had been downloaded into Outlook. I called several times to request that they restore these items and my calls were never returned. Fortunately I asked for the old hard drive back when I picked up the computer, so I am now paying another company to fix the problems described above. I would not recommend ever using this company.
Description of Work: I took my laptop to this repair shop because it was running extremely slow and I believed it had a virus. They recommended that the hard drive be replaced.

The shop never called when promised. Each day I had to call them and there was always a reason they hadn't called. The technician was late, the technician had another job. Finally the owner took my call and said the hard drive was fine and that he was going to install a second hard drive and was going out to get a USB2 port and would call back. No call. My husband went to the shop, it was locked. Then another reversal of diagnosis the hard drive had to be replaced and he should be charging twice as much because the data was so compromised. Finally I got my computer back. One drive was not connected and non functional and many of my most important files were missing. I called and to this day he has never called me back. I had to open the computer and reconnect the drive myself. I took my data back to my home town 200 miles away and paid another $150 to have him retrieve my data which he did although he told me the drive was completely erased. NEVER trust Computer Repair Pros.
Description of Work: I brought my computer to Computer Repair Pros for diagnosis, data recovery and part replacement. I was given an estimate and the promise of a phone call when a diagnosis was made. The original diagnosis was that the hard drive was failing and that it should be replaced and that the data could be restored. They also said they could put in a faster processor and a USB2-port.
