When I called to make an appointment they answered the phone "Hello?? not with the name of the company and the person did not introduce themselves. I said I needed to make an appointment for a chimney sweep. The woman put me on hold for 5 minutes, then came back on the line and asked for my name and number, that she would "Call back in 10 minutes". When I did not hear from her after 2 hours I called back and made the appointment for the next day. I was told that they would arrive between 1PM and 3PM and that I would get a call 30min before they would arrive. The next day I took a half day at work to wait for them. I did not hear from them until 2:30 the next day when they said that they were running late and would "try to get someone out today" but would I want to reschedule. I said, No I wanted them to come out today. They showed up anhour late, around 4PM, and cleaned the chimney. I?ve never had a chimney sweep before, so I assume they did a good job. They didn't leave any mess. The woman charged me $189 for about 15 min of work, which I assume is a fair price. When I produced my AmEx she said gave me a weird look so I said I had a Visa or Mastercard too, and she said she wanted cash or a check "to avoid fees". Luckily I had exactly $190 on hand. She said my chimney was unsafe to use, which I was pretty aware of and wrote me up an estimate for a rebuild. She said she needed to consult some people about the cost of some of the services and would email me the estimate. A week later I have not yet received the estimate.

The work was thorough, communication excellent, contractor and crew managed every detail and kept me informed along the way. They initially thought this would be a 3-day job. It extended to 4-days but there was no overage charge, we paid what was initially quoted in our estimate. I like that they paid attention to details and completed a very thorough clean-up after the work was done.

Mirna, and her crew were a joy to work with! They came when they said they would and when weather got in the way they called to reschedule. They were on time, professional, cleaned up behind themselves and explained what they were going to do, why they were going to do it and what to expect in the future. I would most certainly recommend them and if needed I will call them again! Donna Adams

I had to contact them several times and was not getting calls returned, it was an emergency and I needed to call more than once to get a call back. Once they got here, they did do the job. They did a very good job. I do not have any complaints on what they did. They get an A out of me. They responded to my concerns after the process very quickly.

Was so happy they had the part to fix the broken gas valve from wall, would reccomend again. need new box, willl save for that,

Five years ago the work was done professionally and reasonable priced. However, this year parts of the cement crown they placed on top of the chimney started breaking off. We called chimney USA and they said their work was only warrantied for 1 year. They also came out and said it would cost $500 to replace the crown they sold us just 5 years ago. We declined having them do the work since we did not want it to fall apart after 5 years again especially since our original crown lasted 16 years before lighting hit it.

They were very professional, their prices were reasonable and they did what they said they were going to do when they said they would do it.

Called for a non-emergent service/repair to our chimney. Was given an appointment on a Saturday 11-1. Was told the servicemen would call before arrival. No one came or called. We called the office near the 1pm time slot and left a message. About 20min later someone called and told us that there had been an emergency at a previous house and as a result were "running behind". She would see if someone could come later in the day. Keep in mind we had already been waiting for the two hours begining at 11am. I certainly realize that emergencies happen and we all run behind, however, a simple phone call would have been sufficient and we could have rescheduled or re-organized our day. As result we decided to have another company service our chimney.

It all went really well. I have no complaints. I would use them again.

Overall the service was very good. They were on time, cleaned everything up well and explained everything to me clearly. Although they did not do a "hard up sell" on the options, I did end up spending more than I had planned. When I approved the additional work I was told they would try and have the Chimney sweep cost waved (approx $200). But once the work was done I was told that the "office" would not authorize the waving of this cost. I authorized the additional work assuming this would not be waved so I don't consider this a big issue but I do wonder if the 'waving' of cost was really ever going to happen.

The company is very professional. I would do work with them again and would refer family and friends to them.

The service that this company provided was exceptional, they were very professional, clean and personable. . Ms. Garcia and her staff answered any questions I had to the fulIest. I would tell any one that needs any services that this company provides to call them first and I promise you will not be disappointed. When at comes time for my chimney to be cleaned Chimney U.S.A, Inc. will be the only company I will use.

On the day that they were supposed to arrive, I stayed home from work and wait for them to show up. However, nobody from A Chimney USA showed up between the agreed upon timeframe. When I called A Chimney USA and asked them why nobody showed up. The attendant told me that they had no record of my appointment. When I told her that I did make an appointment with her and even entered it into my own appointment book when I spoke to her, she told me that a mistake must have been made. She apologized for the inconvenience and told me that she was check a few things and call me right back. Well, it is now three days later and I have not received a call back from her. My solution to this very rude and unprofessional behavior...take my business someplace else where I will get treated with respect.

This is my first time ever writing a review but A Chimney USa deserves a big F

I scheduled a fireplace/chimney sweep and inspection with A CHIMNEY USA INC and I was extremely dissatisfied. Phone rep reassured me that my fire place would be thoroughly cleaned. The chimney's interior/exterior would be inspected by professionals and in the end I would be advised of it's condition. I was also advised that if any minor masonry work had to be done, that her workers were equipped to do repairs during the visit. On the day of appointment I observed them vacuum, then stick a long brush into the chimney and vacuum some more. after they were done I asked about condition of fireplace and I was advised that fire place needed some minor masonry touch ups but they could not repair because they had other customers to meet. They advised me that they would have the manager Mirna call me for an estimate. Before they left, I turned the small knob that opens and closes the damper and I heard a clunking sound and the hinge that attaches to the damper popped out. They fiddled with it and placed it back in place and explained that they have never seen that type of damper before because it was an older home and that I may need a clamp to hold the hinge in place but were unsure and they would notify manager. i have not had that problem before and explained that when I turned knob all the way it seemed to lock damper in open position to prevent it from accidentally closing and I got the shrug from the shoulders and again the statement that the manager would call me. I asked about the exterior condition of chimney and was advised that they don't inspect the exterior, well I think I got the point that these gentlemen were unexperienced although they were polite, just not very knowledgeable. After They left I called the manager and explained my dissatisfaction with the service and that I was left with several unanswered questions and still uncertain if I could use fireplace, she reassured me that she would come out to inspection my fireplace personally on wed 17 Oct 2012 between the hours of 4-6pm. I left work early to make appointment but she never showed up and I never got a call back after I left message to find out if anyone was coming. Today is Friday, two days later and still no call back from them. I am very disappointed with their service and will not use A Chimney USA Inc again. I would definitely not recommend them.

I was able to communicate with the manager easily, but she wasn’t available all the time. The workers came early and were polite.

On the first chilly night in late September our boiler didn't kick on. I called a heating contractor to look at it thinking it was something simple like the pilot light. Not so easy - the contractor found our chimney completely blocked. Thankfully, the boiler had shut off when the safety sensor detected blockage and no draft. I consulted Angie's List and obtained several quotes from chimney repair contractors and hired Chimney USA in Chicago. Mirna, Arturo and their team were completely responsive from the very start. Knowing we had no heat they came on a Saturday to assess the job. Mirna promised a quote the following Monday and she delivered. We found Mirna and her team to be very knowledgeable and they made common-sense recommendations. Before we even accepted the proposal Mirna had set aside time in their schedule to make our job a priority in the event we accepted, and the work began two days after we accepted the proposal - on a Saturday. In all the job took 4 1/2 days. They began by doing an initial clearing of the blockage and then they demolished the old over-sized chimney from the roof line up. The building is over 100 years old - not sure if the chimney was original or not but it was very old and disintegrated. After demolition Chimney USA completely rebuilt the chimney, installed 42 feet of stainless liner from top of chimney to basement (building is a two-flat) to replace the completely broken clay liner. They finished by sealing the chimney at the roof line and installing a chimney cap which we didn't have before and which will minimize debris and animals entering the chimney. They finished the job by completely cleaning the chimney, the flues and checking for draft. During the course of the job they did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it. They were professional, courteous and meticulous about cleaning up the job site when the job was finished. And, they showed concern and a sense of urgency knowing that we could not have any heat until the job was done. We recommend Chimney USA unhesitatingly.

Mirna made the arrangements and gave me the estimate. She came to the house with the workers, Arthur & Hector, and they were all efficient and conscientious. I would recommend them to others and hire them again myself.

Overall, they did an great job. We were very pleased with the services provided.

I got a call the next day asking to schedule a time - as though we hadn't done so. I explained I don't hire people who don't show up.

Mirna was very accommodating in the entire process of using Chimney USA. She set up a time to come give us an estimate for all the work, and then we kept in touch to set up a time to get the work done. The estimate gave us options of more and less expensive liners, which was appreciated - they did not try to swindle us for the most expensive option. As some of the work needed to be done on the roof, we needed decent weather, so we kept having to change our dates, but that was out of her control and she did the best to do the work as promptly as possible. All of the Chimney USA workers were friendly and professional. On the final day of the installation of the chimney liner, it turned out that the liner was very difficult to install due to the curvature of our chimney. They persisted for a LONG time and finally succeeded in installing the liner. They clearly stand by their work and go out of their way to do the services that are required. We were very happy with Chimney USA. They were even having some personal/family stressors at the time of the work being done, but did not let that get in the way of wonderful, professional service. We would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

Very professional , came out and gave an estimate . Was able to schedule And complete the service within the week. Went over step by step what was wrong and how they could fix it.

chimney had never been cleaned completely out. The first time this company came they just tried to suck the dirt out, but that was not enough for the age and size of the house. Plus I needed a liner for the chimney They came back and did the job in complete. I do believe. At least I am no longer having condensation leaking back into the house which was causing carbon monoxide leaking into the house when furnace was on. So I feel they did and excellent job and did it quickly. I had been trying to get this problem repaired for years, but most heat and AC companies did not even know what was wrong. One company actually ran from my house. So I am very happy to have this problem repaired. .

I called Mauricio last week to try to get an estimate on fireplace/chimney repair for a home I am in the process of buying. I needed an estimate in a timely fashion, as we are under contract and only have a week to get our negotiations done. When I called Mauricio, he initially didn't think he could fit me in that soon because of how busy they are right now (right now is fireplace sweep busy season), but then he quickly said, "I'll make it happen." (I had called other places and they all said they were too busy and didn't make any moves to accommodate me, so this was great!). We were in touch to confirm things over the last few days, and Mauricio was very easy to get in touch with, and very pleasant on the phone. Today he showed up for the appointment. Unfortunately, due to a little snag, our agent was not at the house when he showed up, so the seller of the home let him in (I admit that this shouldn't have happened). Apparently she immediately was very rude to him. When he went to the fireplace and touched the damper, it fell off. At this point, she accused him of breaking the damper (we already knew from our home inspection that the damper was broken, so there is no way that he broke it). Mauricio decided to leave the house and wait for the agent to arrive. I don't blame him! Despite all of that, he still was willing to give us an estimate based on what little he saw - for the broken damper, and a new lining if we do end up needing it. He did not want to go back into the house. When I spoke with him later to apologize, he was very gracious, conceding that "things happen," and not blaming or taking it out on me/us. I really appreciate his professionalism through the entire process, and I hope to have the opportunity to use his services in the future. Though I cannot vouch for his actual work, I can definitely vouch for his professionalism and good-heartedness.

Very professional, punctual, great service. My only disappointment is that they didn't highlight the angieslist coupon when they knew I found them on the site. Could probably eat out of my fireplace now.
