The Chimney USA rep, Mauricio, was able to come for a quote in a couple days and ultimately complete the work within a week. He was on time for his quote and for the work. Once he and a two man crew began the work they discovered a couple of mistakes in the approach he suggested and estimated. However, he performed the additional work for no additional cost. He then returned as promised the next week to complete the job once the cement dried. In my opinion, the only areas of improvement for Chimney USA are to not rush through the estimate as fast and to take a few more minutes upon leaving to make sure the place is cleaned up very well. In both of these areas the crew did fine, but could have done better.

Although I was promised that the service person would arrive in the morning(I was given at morning "range" time frame)I received a call stated that the previous job was taking longer than expected. While I appreciated the phone call, I was then faced with losing an entire day at work. Shortly there after, I received a phone call from the owner who said that he would service our chimney. He arrived soon after his call, quickly diagnosed the problem, which was easily remedied and didn't charge us for the service call! We were pleased and haven't had any further difficulty.

Mauricio was knowledgeable about the work that needed to be done. He was willing to quote the job using the size and material I wanted. He was willing to work with the Village on permits. He answered a million questions and called me back to check on my progress. He came to look at the situation right away, gave a quote immediately, and fit me into his schedule in a timely fashion. This was important because we had a leak over a window on the second floor causing damage. The work was done in a day by Christian, Jugo and Joel. These workers were careful with our home and pleasant and efficient. Christian, especially, was able to answer more of my questions and allowed me to check on every step of the process.

Mauricio came out and viewed the damage from outside, as well as inside the house. He answered every question I had, then gave me a bid for the work. After another firm gave us a price that was several times higher, for not much more work, I hired Chimney USA. I still had more questions, and Mauricio always politely answered. Our first meeting was on a Tuesday, and they arrived as promised on the following Monday. The work was done in one day, as promised. The workers were polite, and didn't goof off. Once Mauricio reviewed the work, they left the scaffolds up until the crown was dry, and removed it all afterward, the following Thursday.

Originally I called another chimney company in Chicago based on Angie's List to remove a carcass from our chimney. They couldn't do it immediately because of high demand. I was pleasantly impressed when the person on the phone offered an alternative company that might be able to help me out in a shorter amount of time. When I called Chimney USA, they responded quickly enough (after I contacted the 800 number that I looked up on Angie's List). Two men arrived at the agreed upon time on the following day. Christian dislodged the animal carcass from the flue cover. It was unclear if it was a squirrel or something larger. The price of the removal depended on the size of the animal and I was charged the highest amount ($70) but I was glad to be rid of it. The chimney sweeping might have not been all that necessary since the chimney has a metal sleeve. The screen on the chimney cap was necessary and was very much appreciated. The guys were clean and worked quickly although conditions were far from ideal since it was raining on and off. Overall, I recommend this company and we'll have them back to do other work in the house.

They were very courteous and cleaned up after themselves. Very easy to speak with. They explained exactly what they were doing and adjusted the quote and gave me a better one.

My old chimney was in really bad shape with missing mortar joints and cracked bricks. They tore it down and brought it up brand new, installed the flue liner and the cap totally added new life to my house.
