We were very pleased with both the work done as well as the people who did the work. We were given a very competitive price. The crew showed up 15 minutes early on the agreed upon day and immediately started working. They finished in roughly 6 hours and did an outstanding job. They also fully cleaned up our back yard and basement. We were very pleased and impressed with A Chimney's work and would definitely recommend them to anyone needing chimney sweeping, rebuilding or repair.
Description of Work: A Chimney swept and rebuilt our chimney from the roofline up. They also installed a chimney liner, capped the chimney and rerouted our water heater and furnace vents into the new liner.

Excellent service. They responded to my inquiry within 24 hours. This is a busy time of year so it took over a week for them to come out and give me an estimate. The price was lower than others I had received. Work was completed within two weeks of receiving the estimate.

Mauricio was easy to work with and was the best cost value of all contractors I had quote. If there were any issues he coorected them and took care of the situation. Would use again
Description of Work: Mauricio and his crew lined 2 chimneys, repaired mortar and add chimney caps. Also did 3 dryer vent cleanings.
I found them on Angie's list and the reviews were good, so I just hired them to clean and inspect 2 fireplaces. The house is not that old, so I didn't expect any problems but wanted to have it checked out anyway. One man came inside, took off his shoes and put down a tarp to protect the rug. He cleaned out the fireplace and flue. Another man went up onto the roof to look at the chimney. I knew there had been a crack on top and he said it needed a repair, so I said ok and also agreed to have a chimney cap put on. We have never had any problem with water, but I thought it was a good idea to add the cap. They also cleaned and inspected the upstairs gas log fireplace and flue. It went fairly quickly. They picked up their tarps and left behind no mess at all. I spent more than I had planned on, but thought the additional items were priced fairly. I also used my coupon from Angie's list when paying.
Description of Work: Wanted to have fireplaces and flues cleaned and inspected before the cold weather came. They also patched a crack on the chimney and added a chimney cap.

It was excellent, courteous and professionally done. Initially I had arranged for 3 quotes, they were able to come the same week I called for an estimate visit and schedule the work the following week. They did a more thorough inspection for the estimate compared to the other contractor and explained what would be done. After noting the extent to the damage when they moved the duct work going into the chimney for the estimate I decided to go with them as other contractors did not even come in the basement. The day the work was scheduled it was partially raining, they stayed on-site waited for the rain to pass and completed the work. They left the yard spotless from tearing down the old Chimney. They brought a crew of five people and completed it all in less than one day. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Chimney was torn down to the roof line, rebuilt with similar brick, new flashing, installed new chimney liner and redid the duct work from the boiler and hot water hear to the chimney.

The wall over and around my chimney was cracking and bubbling and had been for a while, and I suspected it was connected to a furnace replacement as it had started around the same time. A handyman that did some work (pre-Angie's List) had recommended that the chimney needed tuckpointing, and I had that done despite the fact that I sensed it wasn't the cause of the problem. So after having the tuckpointing done and the wall repaired, of course the problem continued through last winter and my wall is back to bubbly and cracked. When I contacted Chimney and told them I thought I might need a liner because of the furnace, they correctly guessed that the walls were being affected. So, hopefully, as we are about to go into another winter, this took care of the problem and I can have the wall re-repaired and painted. In any case, the person who came out to give me a quote from A Chimney was responsive and answered my questions and offered several alternatives. The work was scheduled promptly and the workers showed up on time and were polite and did the job with no problems, and cleaned up afterwards.
Description of Work: Chimney was cleaned and lined and recapped. Furnace and hot water heater was hooked back into lined chimney.

Contact person, Mauricio Garcia, was very responsive. Arrived when he said he would and returned all phone calls promptly. He diagnosed the problem gave a very, very, reasonably priced estimate for work and fulfilled all parts of it in a timely manner. To me it seemed to be a very difficult project but workers were well supervised and did an excellent job. Highly recommended for value and quality.

We were very pleased with Chimney U.S.A. Not only did they show up on time, they were understanding when I didn't!! When I called to tell Mauricio that I was stuck in traffic, he was professional and understanding--and they began the work like I wanted them to. Originally, I had asked them to put a new cap on, but they found a way to use the cap that had blown off, saving us over $150! We only had to pay for the $75 service call. While he was working on the chimney, Mauricio asked if we still wanted the metal brackets used to hold an old antenna. Since they were unattractive, we loved that they cut them off and hauled them to the trash. They checked the chimney for any other issues and found everything in good shape. Everything was accomplished and cleaned up before I even got back to my house--a great thing. We would definitely hire Chimney U.S.A. for other work. Thanks!

After reading reviews on Angie's List, I decided to give A Chimney USA, Inc. a try. When I called to schedule an estimate, the person I talked to (I believe it was Mauricio) explained he was finishing up with a customer and would call me right back. Well, an hour & half later, I still had not heard back, so I called again and scheduled an estimate for a couple of days later. Not a big deal. Mauricio arrived promptly for the agreed upon time, in fact, I was a little late getting home from work. While waiting for me (about 10 minutes), Mauricio had already got out his ladder and looked at my chimney from the roof. I was a little surprised by this, but I understand time is money and I was the one who was late. I was pleased to hear my chimney exterior was in great shape, save for some small cracks in the chimney crown he said would require some mortar and that the chimney was dirty. He explained that the cracks should be repaired to prevent water from getting into the chimney brick and freezing and causing the bricks to crack. I had no reason to doubt him, but some pictures of the chimney crown cracks would have been nice. The estimate came out to $255.00 - $95.00 for the sweep and $160.00 for mortaring the crown. I asked why so much for mortar repair, and he said it is a special mortar that goes for $300 a bucket. Of course that price also includes the labor, but still, I thought it was slightly high. I decided to go ahead with the work and not get any other estimates. I think I just wanted to get this task off my list. The scheduled time was for between 2 - 5pm three days later (a Saturday). Well, I had some work to do that day and was out when I received a call from my wife at 12:30pm that the work crew were outside sitting in the truck! I told her to invite them to get started, but I was a bit miffed because I wanted to be there. Also, what if my wife wasn't home either? Were they just going to wait an hour and a half outside my house? I am glad they were not late, and understand the prior job probably went quicker than expected. I got home when they were already finished (at the request of my wife, they were kind enough to wait about 15 minutes for me). I could see the mortar job on the crown from the ground - I was not impressed - it was rough and bumpy. I mentioned it to the workman, but his English was not that good and I don't think he understood what I meant. I appreciate they did not seem to skimp on the mortar, but I expected a more professional looking job. Another reviewer (posted after my work was done) commented on the same thing. He had them come back out to sand down the mortar. I think I will ask to have the same done. As for the cleaning, I cannot tell how good a job was done because it looks the same to me. That is why I wanted to be present when the work was being done - I should of just had them wait until I arrived. Overall, my dealings with Mauricio and the crew were courteous and professional and liked them, but I am a bit disappointed with the workmanship on the crown.

Maurico is very punctual and provided a great price. The problem came when he said they had to repair cracks in the chimney and I said of course. At that time I thought it was understood and in the price. When it came time to pay the bill Maurico charged me around 2200.00 which was 600.00 more than the original quote. The charge was for the motar work on the chlmneys. When I questioned Maurico he agreed to split the cost. The problem came when I saw how the cracks were sealed.whith large blobs of motar. I needed to have them out twice to sand and paint over motar to give a finished look . These chimneys were 3-4 stories high and it was 100 degrees-this was hard work. The chimneys are detailed and meant to be a special architectual feature of the house. It has turned out to be good enough and Maurico said he would come back in a year to paint them again if need be. Maurico was worried about my review. I have thought a lot about this review and wanted to take my time and simply present the facts. I would have to say I am happy with the outcome so far. The process was tedious. One last mention. The staff is mostly spanish speaking. When there was a problem everyone started talking spanish and then on the phone they spoke spanish. One guy would not speak to me and then could speak English when it came time to explain things. I would just like to say how uncomfortable this made me feel throughout the process. I am very into diversity and if people can speak English I believe that for the customer's benefit that should be the primary language spoken to put me at ease. Everyone in this scenario could speak English.

Absolutely outstanding. If there were something higher than an A, they'd get it. I have an old house, and the ash pit for our fireplace had not been emptied in many years--maybe never. I had another highly rated Angie's List company look at it last year, and they told me they couldn't possibly clean out the ash pit without me spending a lot of money ($1500 or more) due to the heavy and wet state of the ash (old, leaky basement) and the need for extensive brick repairs and replacement of the ash pit door. A Chimney USA did the whole thing for $380.
Description of Work: Clean out fireplace ash pit and replace ash pit door. Haul away old ash.
The job required them to move an existing wood burning stove as the insurance co. said it was too close to the walls.....The stove was moved along with the venting. We have a second wood burner and they cleaned both out and swept the chimneys.! A+The only issue we had was that they said they would tear up the existing pergo so tile could be installed, he took $150.00 off the estimate if we bought the tile, which we did, granite. They mismeasured and I had to make 2 additional trips to get more tile while they were here working, which ended up costing us much more than budgeted. The tile job was not the best as the tiles are not all level. Overall I would call them again, just not use them for the tile work. They were very good about cleanup too.

Excellent service. Mauricio was extremely responsive. He came over the same day as I called (Friday)to give me a detailed estimate. He was supposed to come on Monday to do the repair but because I was very nervous about the chimney cap completely falling over he switched some things around and came Saturday morning. The whole repair took about and hour. I would definitely recommend him.

I called Mauricio Garcia and he was available to inspect our chimney the next day. He arrived on time and inspected the chimney from the roof, the exterior at ground level and he also went into the basement. He felt the chimney was not leaking. Instead, it looked to him like an issue with our gutters. Mauricio did tell me that the chimney vent was too large now that we had installed a direct vent furnace. He gave me a quote to replace the vent with a smaller one, connect it properly to the hot water heater and install a new chimney cap. I felt Mauricio's price was very fair. He gave us valuable information about the gutters. We are having major remodeling done in our home and I discovered that the contractor could replace this vent for us as a part of our larger project. Because of that I did not hire Mauricio but I was impressed by how quickly he was able to inspect our chimney, the honesty he showed and his very reasonable prices.

They were flexible in scheduling the estimate, fitting me in before scheduled work on a Saturday morning. The estimator started by looking at the base of the chimney in the basement and explained what he would do. He even told me things to look for from other estimates. I called on Monday to schedule the work, and they came out on Friday. The team, including the estimator, arrived on time and immediately got to work. They noticed some damaged masonry below the gutter, and told me they would fix that area as well. They swept out the chimney, at which point I realized there had not been a liner at all. Then they replaced the tuck pointing, followed by installation of the chimney liner and cap. They replaced the exhaust vent from the hot water heater and filled in the base of the chimney. They worked all day with one lunch break and did a good job cleaning up after themselves.
Description of Work: Swept chimney, installed stainless steel chimney liner and cap, ground out and tuck pointed chimney
They did a great job. The estimator was very knowledgeable about chimneys and the kind of work we were requesting for a house that is about to go on the market.
Description of Work: They did chimney cleaning, tuck-pointing and replaced chimney cap. They even fixed a minor masonry problem in another part of the house not on the estimate and refused additional payment.

They put in a liner which is a connection from my basement. They had to clean out some debris that was in the chimney. I used to get condensation near the chimney that would cause paint to peal. All things considered, I thought it went very well. First of all, they held true to their estimate. We had a very small firebox (with no gas line) that was too small for any gas log, so we had to have it rebuilt and have a gas line run up to the 4th floor. When I had my house inspected a couple of years ago, my inspector estimated the cost of rebuilding the firebox and installing a gas line/log would be thousands of dollars more expensive then what I was charged by A Chimney USA. It was a big job and they had five workers at my house for almost the entire day. All of the workers were very nice and respectful (although some did not appear to speak English very well, if at all). They made sure to clean up after themselves and left the space cleaner than it was when they arrived. There was one small hiccup in the project. As they were rebuilding my firebox (we live on the fourth floor), some of the excess debris fell down the other units' chimney stack. As a result, my downstairs neighbor had a broken glass vase from the falling debris. While this may have been avoidable, I was very impressed by how Chimney USA responded to the incident. They quickly cleaned up the area and reimbursed me for the cost of a replacement vase. I didn't have to haggle with them at all, they knew the mistake was theirs and they fixed it. From my perspective, mistakes or surprises will happen during most construction projects but it is how they are handled which defines a contractor. A Chimney USA handled and solved this problem immediately, without me having to push them at all. I was very impressed with their professionalism in this situation. I would definitely use them again.

The work seemed very thorough. They also offered to seal skylights and a vent that they said appeared to have no sealant left, which resulted in more expense than anticipated but we expect was needed to hopefully avoid future leaks. We really appreciated Mauricio's responsiveness to our concern on the price for chimney extensions and working with us to our satisfaction (the overall price just still surprised us for what we'd expected to have done, but we feel we got a fair price).

They were very quick to come out and give an estimate and were able to schedule the work within a few days. They were very professional and prompt. My one concern was that the foreman left the site and when I tried to ask a question the workers were not able to respond as they did not speak English. They could have done a little better job of cleaning up afterwards, although I would say they did a fair job, I did have to sweep up some dirt and mortar they left on the floor.
Description of Work: We found a stain on the wall where the chimney entered the house. We got an estimate from A Chimney USA and another company and both said that the chimney was too big and a chimney liner and chimney cap was needed. We chose A Chimney USA because they offered a less expensive and more affordable liner then the other company. They installed the cap and an aluminum liner to which both the hot water heater and furnace exhaust were connected.
