Description of Work: After back-to-back floods destroyed my furnished basement, several friends suggested I needed to install a sump pump and backup trap, so I called Chicagoland Plumbing and spoke with Edwin, who made an appointment and arrived a few days later to give me an estimate. The first thing he told me was that 40% of my problem was with my gutters and drainpipe, which were essentially redirecting the rainwater back into my house. This came as a revelation and a relief. He next advised me that a sump pump would be very expensive but that I probably didn't need one, which came as more good news. He gave me a reasonable estimate to install the backup trap, reseal a toilet that had been dislodged by the flood, improve my low water pressure and redirect the rainwater away from my house. The following day Edwin arrived right on time to begin mapping things out but immediately discovered that retrofitting the sewers on this 1870's row house would require major construction including tearing up sidewalks and closing down the street, which we both agreed was out of the question, so the matter was dropped. Next, he flushed out the pipes and was able to improve my water pressure by about 50%, which is probably the most I could have hoped for with these old pipes. Two days later Albert came to reseal the dislodged toilet. He also cleaned my roof and gutter of some accumulated leaves and attached what looks like a wide, black vacuum cleaner hose to the gutter so that it leads the rainwater a few feet away and into my garden. This is clearly a temporary measure, but now that I understand the problem, I am hoping I can find a more permanent and aesthetic solution in the future. Both Edwin and Albert could not have been more helpful, personable and professional, and it was a pleasure to have dealt with them both.

Description of Work: Our wated heater was leaking & the 1st place I called was dismissive & just said it would have to be replaced. So, I called Chicagoland Plumbing &, even though he was busy, he came right over as I was concerned that I couldn't turn the water off. He was friendly & professional & got the job done that day. I believe his name was Edwin! He replaced the water heater & the ejector pupm, which I did not realize was not working.

Description of Work: I wanted a simple clean-out installed on a pipe in the basement of my home, so I phoned Chicagoland Plumbing & explained what i wanted & asked if they could give an approximate cost estimate. Chicagoland rep said they would need to look at it first, & we set an appointment for the next day; however, Ed of Chicagoland called back later & said he could come today. He came and said that a clean-out could easily be installed but said I really needed much more extensive work done, including re-piping & installing a pee-trap and some sort of check valve or something on a kitchen sink. I said I did not want all that stuff done and merely wanted the clean-out installed. Ed said he wouldn't do that because of his license. He suggested hiring a handyman. My interpretation of his comments is that installation of the clean-out is a smaller job than Chicagoland is interested in.

Description of Work: We tried to install our kitchen sink ourselves and almost got it right but needed someone to come in and tweak something we couldn't quite get right. He was able to do so quickly and professionally. He also did a quick fix of a small toilet issue we were having.
