The initial response to my request for an estimate was almost instantaneous and the communication by the company throughout the process was terrific. The plumbers were punctual, cordial and professional. Most importantly, they kept me apprised of what they were doing and asked appropriate questions as to my preferences along the way. The job ended up being more difficult than first anticipated, but we couldn't be happier with the result. The plumbers did what it took to get the job done right. We will definitely use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Removed old basement utility sink, installed new sink and cabinets and replaced plumbing and drain lines where necessary.

I have found a new reliable plumber that I will refer without hesitation. That plumber is Edwin at Chicagoland Plumbing. Here is my story: I signed up with Angie's List on a monthly program specifically to find a reliable plumber. I have an older home (built in 1943) which has one full bathroom. I feel that I am quite handy and I am very confident in working on home projects so in September of 2011 I began remodeling that bathroom a little at a time (work included removing and replacing the walls, ceiling and floor, moving and adding light fixtures and replacing galvanized pipes with copper for the sink). I purchased a new acrylic tub for the bathroom, but I wanted to have the old drum drain trap removed and replaced with a solid P trap before I installed the new tub. That is where I knew I needed to call in a professional which I did. I called a few plumbers from Angie's list and explained what I wanted done. One plumber wanted to charge a service call fee just to come and look at the job and another didn't seem very interested. When I called Chicagoland Plumbing I left a message and a short time later I received a call back from Edwin. I explained what I wanted to have done and he explained that a job like I explained could cost as much as $575.00, but in order to get a better estimate he would like to see, first hand, what the job entailed so he made an appointment with me for a Saturday and he explained that his estimate would be free (no service call charge). When Edwin arrived he looked the job over and we talked about the work that needed to be done. I explained that I was breaking out the cast iron tub and replacing it with a new acrylic tub. Edwin thought it would be best that I set the new tub, then he could install the new drain exactly where it needed to be instead of roughing it in. On Monday the 26th (the day before Edwin was coming over to replace the drum trap) I busted out the old tub. Once it was out and the floor space was open I realized that it would be easier for Edwin to get to the old drain from the bathroom side with no tub in the way. I called Edwin and we agreed that I should wait on setting the new tub. Edwin arrived the next day on time and ready to work. He laid a tarp down at the front door so he wouldn't track in any water or dirt from the outside as he made his way back and forth to his truck. A short time after he started to work his sawzall broke so he had to leave to get a new one, before walking out the door Edwin assured me that I would not be paying him for his down time. When Edwin returned with the new saw he got right back to work removing the old drain. Edwin then help me move in the new tub and he worked on the drain connections while I secured the tub. Edwin connected the drain , but discovered a slow drip. When the house was built the water pipes for the bathtub faucet were run on the floor new the drain and the new connections which made tightening the new drain connections a little challenging, but Edwin worked on the drain until the drip stopped. Once all of the work was finished, Edwin cleaned the area completely and it was as if he was never there. Edwin charged me from the time he returned with the new saw until the time he finished the job, the time he spent at my house before the saw broke never made it on my bill and that was MORE THEN FAIR! A few days later the tub was used and as the water drained I watched the new p trap from the service door. I noticed a drip of water coming up about every 2 seconds from a new fitting. I called Edwin and told him about the drip I also explained that I had used the shower a number of times and the drain never dripped. Edwin explained that the drain was under more pressure when the water was in the tub and draining he then set up an appointment to repair the drain. Once again Edwin arrived on time and ready to work. He tightened the drain with a special wrench (that maneuvered around the other pipes that were in the way) which solved the problem. Edwin then rodded the tub drain so the water could drain easier and faster. He was finished with the follow up work within 20 minutes. I offered to pay for the rodding service and he refused any additional money. I then offered a few dollars to pay for lunch and he refused that too. To sum it up. The work I wanted done was done right and I paid a fair price. Edwin was very professional, prompt and courteous. I know first hand that it is difficult to get good work done at a fair price, but if you hire Edwin from Chicagoland Plumbing you will not have to be concerned about that.
Description of Work: Edwin, the plumber, removed the old tub drain drum trap and replaced it with a new P trap. If you are going to have your tub replaced and it has an old drum trap DO have the drum trap replaced with a P trap even if you have to hire a plumber to do the work. DO hire Edwin and Chicagoland Plumbing for any plumbing work. He has earned my trust which doesn't come easy.

Carlos was knowledgeable, organized and fixed the problem in no time!!!
Description of Work: The sump pump was making a loud noise and was not turning off. I called other plumbers in the area and was unable to get anyone to call me back. Carlos from Chicagoland Plumbing took my call personally and was out in my house within 30mins. He was extremely professional and got to work immediately. He answered all of my questions, was very clear in relating what the problem was. After he was done he cleaned up and left the equipment even more organized than it had been. He fixed the problem without wasting time. I will definitely call Carlos again if and when I need a plumber!!!

Great experience. Very easy to book an appointment using their website. The plumbers came on time, were neat, and charged a reasonable rate. They charged about 50% of what Roto Rooter charges to clean the drain line and did not try to upsell on a bunch of services (which Roto Rooter is famous for, they treat a service call as a sales call they get paid for). They made two repairs to a copper supply line, both were done cleanly and quickly. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: We have used Chicagoland plumbing two times. On their first visit, they rodded our drain line (through a floor drain) which was stopped up, and soldered a joint on a copper water supply line that was leaking. On the second visit, they repaired another joint on the same supply line (apparently the previous owners of my house did not do a good job installing this supply line).

Edwin was punctual and came by to examine the issue. At first we thought the entire shower fixture was going to need replacing. That was estimated to be a very expensive and time-consuming job which Edwin did not feel comfortable doing (since it involved major tile-work, etc). To his credit, he was honest about his apprehension on doing that job. But after re-examining the fixture, he thought he might be able to find a replacement cartridge for the fixture. He was able to find the a replacement and the following day came back to install the replacement cartridge. He spent a lot of time on the job and I though the price he charged was very reasonable. He was professional, prompt, courteous and saved me a lot of headache and potentially a lot of money.
Description of Work: Shower fixture internals broke and failed to turn on/off the shower. A cartridge in the fixture mechanism had to be replaced.

Very well. We would recommend him
Description of Work: we had a broken kitchen sink, leaking toilet, and leaking shower heads. What most impressed me is that Edwin had set a time for our appointment but realized he would be late. Rather than wait until the last minute (or after our scheduled time like most people do) he called me quite a bit ahead of time to push back our appt. He was efficient, professional, and fixed what he could.

From my first frantic call to them explaining my dilemma, they took care of everything from testing the back flow devices to submitting the paperwork to the city. The nice thing about the experience is the fact that when I received the notice from the city, I felt vulnerable because of the fact that I didn't know what the back flow device was and had no time to price out different companies to compare. Its good to know there are still companies out there that charge fair prices when there is blood in the water.
Description of Work: I received a surprise visit from the city inspector saying that I needed to get my back flow thing-amagig tested and if I didn't have it done within two weeks, they would turn off my water. They came out tested and sent all of the required docs to the city.

Was very professional and sincere. Pricing was very competitive and he was very eager to help us. I will keep his number handy and recommend to my friends. He seems to really care about building his business and taking care of his customers and is flexible with hours - when you need a plumber, you often can't wait til business hours, so Edwin is a good person because he recognizes this and is very proactive.

Edwin spent several hours ensuring my main sewer was functional. Along the way, he made several suggestions for improvements. He was patient and listened to my side.
Description of Work: Edwin continues to offer professional service. I have an ongoing plumbing issue with my main sewer line. My family and I live in a 120 year old house. So it's hard to diagnose the problem because the layout of the sewer is not your typical setup. Last September, Edwin's crew came by and did some work to correct a drain problem. He stood by his guarantee and came back again to clean out the drain not charging me for the service. He will return at no charge to run a camera to see if we can pinpoint the problem. His professionalism instilled confidence in me to continue using him and find a solution to the annoying seepage.

Carlos and his colleague (Alberto?) arrived promptly and got right to work. They assessed the repairs needed, provided an estimate on the spot and began work once I'd approved the price. They had all the needed parts right there and did an amazing job. In fact, Alberto went way above the call of duty by performing additional small and helpful adjustments. I cannot recommend this family run business highly enough.

E-mailed Edwin and received a prompt response. We scheduled a day and time for Edwin to come by to take a look and see what my problem was with the faucet. Edwin diagnosed the problem, we scheduled when someone would come out to fix the problem. The gentlemen (Carlos) came out promptly on Monday morning as promised and fixed the problem in short fashion. I have told a few friends and neighbors about Edwin and his staff. They are Great.
Description of Work: Edwin was prompt and very thorough in diagnosing my problem with my faucet in the bathroom. Knew what needed to be done. Edwin scheduled a staff member (Carlos) to come the next business day to fix the faucet. Carlos arrived a bit early and completed the job in a timely fashion. Most definitely would use Edwin and his staff again for my plumbing problems.

The work went well overall, though a drip from the basement kitchen sink returned in short order. The work took a four man crew one full day, plus a three man crew a second day, while the President of the firm returned on a Saturday some weeks later (after basement bathroom floor was repaired by others) to finish the job (about another 2 to 3 hours). The President of the firm was sometimes late when coming to assess a situation and put in a bid. When coming to assess for a second (supplemental) bid he temporarily walked away from the job due to confusing a conversation he had had with another client as being with me. He later apologized after realizing he had confused another individual with me.
Description of Work: Installed new horizontal water pipes in copper from the water meter to the vertical risers. Install a new frost proof hose spigot. To reset and repair basement toilet. Remove basement lavatory sink and install vanity sink removed from first floor bathroom. Repair basement kitchen's faucet tub and shower valve. Rough in a drain and water supplies for a second lavatory sink in the first floor bathroom. Removed the second floor kitchen sink. Removed the first floor kitchen sink and installed it in the second floor, reconfiguring the water supplies as needed.

The day before we were to enjoy a leisurely week in Florida, I discover a small puddle of water forming in my basement underneath the hot water line. Upon closer inspection I see the water drops coming off the line. Not wanting to come back to massive structural damage, I search Angie's list for a Plumber who's close-by and available Saturday's. I find the Chicagoland Plumbing listing and call them. No one is available in the office but the message gives another number to contact Edwin directly. I call him and since he's finishing another job in the area he agree's to come by when he's done there. He arrives and evaluates the situation and sees that it shouldn't take him too long to fix it. My two-flat is probably 100 years old and some of the previous owners definitely took shortcuts on repairs and upgrades in the past. He showed me how the plumbing was supposed to be as compared to how it actually was done and corrected the situation. We had trouble getting the water flow cut off completely which made soldering impossible, so he had to cut another piece of the pipe off to make it easier to plumb. It took two hours plus and he got soaked trying to work with the leaks, but he was finally able to resolve the problem professionally and efficiently. Plus he gave a 90 day guarantee on his work. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again or recommend him to a friend. Excellent job.

Very responsive and professional team. Was running a few mintues behind schedule and called to notify us, which was much appreciated. Noticed the toilet was rocking slightly and shimmed the toilet to eliminate the problem. Could have made a much bigger deal about remounting the toilet, but Edwin was very honest and upfront and said not to waste money on that when a simple shim would do the job. Appreciated the honesty and professionalism and would definitely use again.

It went very well... The quality was excellent. The price was a bit high but seems worth it...
Description of Work: My sump pump was not working properly and roots had grown into the pipes under the house. The combination caused massive raw sewage and flooding. Edwin and his crew came to my home in a very timely manner and gave me an estimate to place a new deeper sump pump and clean-out inside my home. additionally, they cleaned and rodded all of the sewer pipes. They were very professional and finished on time. I was very satified with the work. The price was a bit high but worth the quality of the work and professionalism.

On Monday, he had workers come in at exactly at 9AM. Although they were congenial and professional, there was little small talk. They went right to one area, they found the problem and showed the problem to me. They showed me the pictures and told me everything that they were going to do. They were very quick to finish the job and when they left you would have never known that someone was there working all day. They were honest and open with me. I would hire them again, and I would recommend them to anyone without reservation or qualification.
Description of Work: On the Friday before, Mr. Flores came out to give me an estimate and to survey the area and find the problem with my pipes. When he came in, he cut an organized portion of the drywall. He took a camera to find the problem and showed it to me. He found out where the problem was and what to do. He made an appointment to come out the next Monday to work on the problem. He says that he usually does not work in my area, but he came out anyway. I had an estimate from another company, and they were 4 times the cost that was shown to me from Mr. Flores. His prices were fair, not the cheapest, but considering the quality of work it is very fair.

Edwin was terrific and very helpful. Carlos knew what he didn't know, I appreciated that. I believe that the price was very fair given that almost an entire work day was consumed by my problem. I am going to have some facets installed later this year and will call Edwin and Chicagoland Plumbing.
Description of Work: I called Edwin on Sunday when my downstairs neighbor reported water leaking into their unit from my bathroom. He said he would have someone there at 9:00 am and told me to keep the water turned off. He called at 8:15 to say the emergency prevented his staffer from arriving at 9:00 am. Carlos arrived at the revised time. He was professional and tried very hard to solve my problem. He called Edwin to explain the complexity of the issue and it was determined a more experienced person was required. Edwin, the owner of the company, took over for Carlos and discovered that the problem was not really with my unit but with the building as a whole. He discussed the issue with my building's management company and agreed to turn the issue over to them. Edwin cleaned up to the best his ability given that he had to leave the toilet off for the next plumber.

They were great in looking at the problem and recommending how to fix it. They also gave us the option of purchasing our own materials or providing the materials to us. When they came again to make the actual repairs, they refunded the travel charge from the first visit. When they came this past week, once again they investigated the issues and gave us their estimates and opinions without a lot of pressure. I really appreciate the fact that you can contact Edwin and his team by email and by phone. They are very responsive and extremely professional!

One of our bathroom faucets had a leak in the pipe. We had tried multiple times to fix ourselves and failed.
