 + -1 moreI had a two year old lawn mower which was acting up. I brought it in on a Saturday morning at 8am, and they knew exactly what was wrong with it. It needed to have the carburetor rebuilt. For an additional $40, they tuned it up, and sharpened the blade. It was done in 2 1/2 hours and works like a charm. These guys are great.

 + -1 moreFantastic service, exceeded expectations on several areas: machine worked better than I thought it would, they turned it around faster than I thought they would (in one day) and the price was less than I thought. They even determined the snowblower was part of a recall and took care of all the paperwork with Toro -- reducing my out of pocket cost to zero. I'll definitely use them for all mower and snowblower issues in the future. This business is an absolute hidden gem in the city!

 + -1 moreI took in a reel lawn mower I'd purchased a few years before from Home Depot. The proprietor took one look at it and said it could not be repaired, since its screws did not admit of readjustments; he sold me instead a reconditioned model he said would last 30 years. It works fine, but as a much older model it's very heavy, and the handle is really proportioned for someone at least 6' tall, not a 5'6" woman, however strong.

Description of Work: I stopped by with my lawn mower and asked them to sharpen the blades. I expected to have to drop it off and come back after a few days, but they did it on the spot. Great service, great price (the other hardware store quoted me 2-3 weeks!!)

When I described problems (tough to start, exhaust), Steve recommended a tune-up at a flat cost of $90. He said he probably could have it ready by that afternoon, but I told him it wasn't necessary. I picked it up next weekend and it's running much better and starts right away.

Once the job was done, it starts on the first pull, the engine is strong like when I first bought it, and the blade cuts well again.

 + -1 moreWe bought a Craftsman lawnmower at a garage sale for $20 because it wasn't working and was leaking oil. We brought it in, and they said it would be done in a couple days. They did a nice tune-up, replaced the blade, and actually had it looking and running brand new. They also told us we got a great deal at the garage sale, the mower was less than 2 years old. Score! Really professional guys. Also, bought a new snow blower from them the following winter and that experience was great as well.
Description of Work: Brought in a lawnmower that was not working. The blade was broken, it was smoking and leaking oil.

 + -1 moreI called first to insure they had the right blade for the mower then I drove right over. They asked if I would like to wait and I did; about 15 minutes maximum...they charged $25 for the blade and installation and they installed my blade I brought for my edger for $5...total $30.

Description of Work: I went in to get the blades to my older electric mower sharpened. I love the old electric mowers. At first he looked to see if he had a new blade. Because the old blade was pretty chopped up. He did not have a new blade but was able to sharpen it. We started talking about the old electric versus the new one. He had a trade in electric mower for $60.00 And the age of my mower was so old that I could not past such a deal that I bought the trade in for $60.00 as a back up to my old one.

BECAUSE OF THIS, WHEN WE RETURNED TO PICK UP THE SNOWBLOWER AND LEARNED THAT THE ELECTRIC STARTER WAS DEAD (WHEN IT HAD WORKED AT OUR HOUSE) WE WERE SUSPICIOUS: DID THEY JUST WANT TO GET US TO FORK OVER MORE MONEY FOR SOMETHING?
Description of Work: SNOWBLOWER REPAIR. WE BROUGHT IN OUR SEARS SNOWBLOWER, WHICH WE PURCHASED NEW FOR THE WINTER OF 2003-2004. THE CHOKE WAS JAMMED (OUR FAULT), SO WE COULD PLUG IT IN TO START IT, BUT COULDN'T KEEP IT ON BY ADJUSTING THE AMOUNT OF FUEL. CLM TUNED UP THE ENGINE, BUT WHEN WE PICKED IT UP, THEY TOLD US THAT THE ELECTRIC STARTER HAD A DEAD SPOT ON THE ARMATURE, SO WE WOULD HAVE TO START IT MANUALLY. (THE DEAD SPOT, THEY SAID, WAS CAUSED BY OUR OPERATING THE STARTER FOR TOO MANY SECONDS AT A TIME, CAUSING PART OF IT TO BURN OUT. ALL I KNOW IS THAT THE STARTER WORKED IN OUR BACKYARD BEFORE WE LOADED IT INTO THE CAR TO TAKE TO CLM.) THE SNOWBLOWER DOES STAY RUNNING NOW, AND TO BE FAIR, THEY GAVE US SOME ADVICE TO RUN THE ENGINE UNTIL ALL THE GAS IS GONE EACH SPRING TO PREVENT IT FROM SLUDGING UP OVER THE SUMMER, WHICH WE HAD NOT KNOWN BEFORE.
