Second, that we’ll work hard, because that’s what we love to do. Family owned, 8 Employees. No subs. Charges by the hour. Travel charges apply towards arrival at destination.

Description of Work: Overall, these guys are grade A movers. Don't mind the old truck, lack of uniforms and gruff demeanor. Bill and his crew were courteous, professional, and cared about our stuff. I was super pleased at the outcome and how quickly they try to be. They don't waste time (i.e., my money) and are already some of the cheapest in Chicago. We moved from a one bedroom with elevator to a second floor walk up. These guys didn't miss a heart beat and rolled with the punches on last minute changes. Bill runs a tight ship and would hire him and his guys again. | |Only constructive feedback is that I had to follow up to an email I sent about finding time slots. But it was very minor. | |

Description of Work: These guys were great! I've used movers for long distance (made me leery) but never for local moves. I decided not to take advantage of friends & family this time so checked on-line for movers. They responded to my request for an estimate by email then lined up a date by phone. Then they sent an email confirmation with all the possible charges I could incur (big warnings from other movers reviews) and that held true- nice that there were no surprises. They arrived in the time range they gave me and went right to work after seeing what I had to move. They put me at ease with their obvious knowledge of how best to move things efficiently. In addition to hustling they were friendly in their suggestions of how I could be of help. Ultimately they put things where I wanted and were very thankful for the Gatorade & tip, as they earned it! The final charge came pretty close to the estimate even though my early guess of my actual stuff wasn't too accurate. (They said that's very common.) When I move around Chicago again, I'll definitely call them.

I was very pleased with the work done. I had two crews and two trucks, three guys to each truck. These guys worked hard without dogging it! It took two trips with both trucks, but this was unavoidable. 7 hours total and they were worth it. Not one scratch on my furniture. They had to bring in some furniture to the second floor through windows.
Description of Work: Moved from a two floor apartment to a single family house.

Brian, Corey and Tony couldn't have been nicer and more professional. These guys treated our belongings with great care, were very polite and worked their tails off. I would highly recommend CHeck Mate Movers and will definitely use them in the future.

Fabulous experience. Very good service. They arrived exactly on time. They worked very hard and quickly; packed things very well. No damage whatsoever. Crew boss was very experienced and knowledgeable. They went over and above with the granite and Sub-zero.
Description of Work: Checkmate moved a dismantled a very large kitchen including a large sub-zero refrigerator, a very large slab of granite, cabinets, appliances, and countertops from one home to another.

They were great! Everything from setting it up to the actual move was top notch. Brian and his crew were efficient and amazing. My husband and I looked at what we had to move and said there was no way they could do in under 3 hours and maybe even 4 hours. They moved us in 2 hours. Our furniture was handled with care and nothing was damaged. I would highly recommend them to anyone and will use them again when we move.
Description of Work: Check Mate moved me from my 3rd floor apartment to the basement in the same building.

ON TIME, EVEN THOUGH I REQUESTED THEY START EARLIER THAN THEIR NORMAL HOURS. THEY WERE FAST AND VERY NICE TO DEAL WITH. THEY WERE VERY CAREFUL WITH ALL MY FURNITURE. NOTHING WAS BROKEN IN THE MOVE. I WAS VERY SATISFIED.

THEY DELIVERED BOXES PRIOR TO THE MOVE, AND SUPPLIED A COUPLE OF ROLLS OF TAPE. THEY WERE A LITTLE LATE, BUT THEY WERE STILL VERY CLOSE TO FINISHING BY THEIR ESTIMATED TIME, EVEN THOUGH WE HAD AN EXTRA STORAGE CLOSET THAT WE FORGOT TO TELL THEM ABOUT. THEY PADDED ALL THE FURNITURE AND MOVED MOST OF THE PAPERBAGS STUFF THAT WE PLANNED TO TAKE OURSELVES. VERY HARD WORKING CREW!

GENERALLY IT WAS FINE, THEY WERE FAST. I WASNT HAPPY THAT THEY DIDNT WRAP EACH INDIVIDUAL WOOD PIECE OF FURNITURE WITH FURNITURE PAD LIKE THEY SAID THEY WOULD, AND I THINK WE EXPERIENCED SOME NICKS BECAUSE OF IT.

WORKERS WERE VERY CAREFUL AND COMPETENT, MOVING A HEAVY OBJECT IN A NARROW SPACE. THEIR PRICE WAS MORE ECONOMICAL THAN OTHERS. THEY DID ARRIVE SEVERAL HOURS LATE BUT THIS WAS ON THE DAY FOLLOWING A 10 INCH SNOW SO THIS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN A TYPICAL EXPERIENCE.

KEVIN GAVE US A VERY REALISTIC ESTIMATE AFTER GLANCING AT ALL THE ITEMS WE NEEDED TO MOVE. HE GAVE US HELPFUL HINTS AND TIPS TO MAKE THE MOVE LESS COSTLY AND EASIER (AFTER FOLLOWING HIS ADVICE WE DID SAVE SOME MONEY). HIS CREW/STAFF WERE FRIENDLY, VERY HARD-WORKING, AND CAREFUL WITH OUR ITEMS. IF WE MOVE AGAIN, WE WILL ASK CHECK MATE TO MOVE US.
